The Best Scents for Home, a Room, the Car...
Ina Garten Davita replied to amberbella's topic in Recommendations
I love the new car smell of my truck, but I wouldn't mind at all if it smelled like Loviatar. Not one bit. -
First Impression: Sexy man musk. Second Impression: I like on me, would lust after a man smelling like this. Final Analysis: The dry down is nice, I smell the cloves much more after the deep civet smell starts to wane. Raw and very sexual.
-
First Impression: Oh yes, green with Envy. Second Impression: That mint is perfect, like spearmint that grows wild and will take over your garden. Too bad the mint not lacks the tenacity of its wild counterpart. Final Analysis: An exhilarating scent, cooling and refreshing. On a hot, humid Georgia day (like today) this will be sweet relief. Envy will be great as a personal scent and for the home.
-
First Impression: Juicy, tropical and lush. Second Impression: It's almost coconutty, I like this. Final Analysis: I'm wearing a sarong and a flower in my hair, the tropical breeze blows over me as the waiter hands me a drink with an umbrella in it. Thank you!
-
First Impression: I don't know how she does it, but she does it. Beth has bottled sorrow. Second Impression: It took a good long dry down for me to appreciate the lovely roses. It began sharp and soapy, but that didn't last too long thank goodness. Final Analysis: This is the first scent that has actually invoked sadness, sorrow and a sense of loss from me. On the dry down, the roses smell beautful but tragic like a vase long knocked over shattered glass, drying puddle, wilting petals.

What scents are masculine? Gender-neutral?
Ina Garten Davita replied to Fae_Rae's topic in BPAL FAQs
I like these on me, but I think they would be heaven on a bloke! Zephyr, Loviatar, Greed, Damnation, Golden Priapus, Satyr and the Sibirian Musk single note. -
So what do you all think that this Lughnasdh is going to smell like? I have no idea what it means, never heard of it. But Beth's description make me think that it would be grains and autmny and maybe a little sweet. I'm thinking a mixture of Jack and Dana O'Shee type smell. I'm probably dead wrong, just my imagination running away with me.... (sing it!) A little insight for a person? Thanks!

Lab update days are just the best days! But I must admit, I was gutted to read the notes of Blue Moon. With all due respect to Beth and her remarkable abilities as our Lab Goddess, I don't like cucumber, juniper or bay. POOH! But all was not lost, there was something wonderful to replace it so I ordered up a 5ml of Lughnasdh and a set of imps in Shattered Honey Intrigue La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente Regan Alice This is my last, I repeat last order until the Harvest Moon release date (that will be for my birthday order) and then that's my very last order until my Crimbo/Wedding Anniversary order! My two pending orders should be on the way by next week, according to Nella. I'm so exicited!

Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion
Ina Garten Davita replied to Shollin's topic in Recommendations
Yes, Old Port Au Prince is the more masculine counterpart of Hellcat. I found Eclipse to very similar to Hellcat and not the least bit girlie. -
Laurel~ Aromaleigh cosmetics has an entire eyeshadow line based on A Midsummer Night's Dream. You may want to have a peek for the wedding makeup for you and your maidens. click click!

What scents are masculine? Gender-neutral?
Ina Garten Davita replied to Fae_Rae's topic in BPAL FAQs
I think these are on the masculine side but oh so gorgeous on me and would love to smell them on my hubby if only he didn't think it was gay to put on perfume... Zephyr, Loviatar, Greed, Damnation, Golden Priapus, Satyr and the Sibirian Musk single note. -
Only two more days! I'm bursting with excitement!

Paperdoll, that's an amazing and excellent idea! Beth would intensively interview you and your fiance and could bottle up the essence of the two of you and your wedding theme. You could order them as gifts or favors for your attendants and guests. It may be a little pricey, but after the initial $150, you can get 5ml bottles for $8.50 and decant them into imps and place them in a basket for everyone to take as they enter the ceremony. Everyone can apply this scent and the whole place will have the aura of this special blend. Oh how I wish I knew about BPAL for my wedding. I would have done just that.

I'll throw my hat into the race and say the cleanest smelling scents I've tried are Hymn, Zephyr, Desdemona, Delirium, Unseelie and Luna. -
Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?
Ina Garten Davita replied to Nadirah's topic in Recommendations
The roses in the Empress are luxurious and the roses in Delirium are juicy. Both wonderful scents! -
Though I went through it with a fine toothed comb, if there are any errors, please let me know. thanks!

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?
Ina Garten Davita replied to Nadirah's topic in Recommendations
Morrighana is quite correct. Harlot has a blend of three gorgeous rose notes. The cinnamon is perfect, but very short lived leaving a rose bouquet behind. -
First Impression: Green and yellow straight out of the bottle. Second Impression: Lovely sprintime scent. Soft and light. Final Analysis: I prefer the heavy, dark resin scents and the heady florals, but this is fresh and lovely like a cool breeze on a sunny day. Would make a pretty scented lotion. EDIT: The Daffodil single-note isn't on the site yet - I merged this post with the existing thread in Up-and-Coming. --Shollin

First Impression: Out of the bottle it has the same "juiciness" of say Dragon's Heart and Blood Lotus. Second Impression: Reminds me of Voodoo only richer and juicier. Final Analysis: To my nose, Bat's Blood is a juicy, slightly sweet floral. I don't get any herbiness from it. Very rich, mature scent. Love the color and love the way it smells on my skin. edited to add: I don't know if there is some chocolate note in this blend, but I dabbed a bit on my right hand. Several hours later all that lingered was a faint, very sweet scent of milky sweet cocoa. Peculiar but wonderful!
-
First Impression: Sweet childhood memory. This smells just like Fun Dip candy. Second Impression: I can't believe this has amber or sandalwood in it. I do get peaches and vanilla bean. It's Fun Dip and I want some! Final Analysis: I don't usually go for such candy sweet smells, but I like this if only for the sweet, sweet memories of walking with my sister to Vinnie's armed with our allowances for candy treats.
-
First Impression: There's the wine. Reminds me of Lilith. Second Impression: A dark and seductive floral with the red wine notes making all the more intoxicating. Final Analysis: Beautiful, dark, heady. I prefer Lilith, but I could wear this often and be quite happy.
-
First Impresson: Uh-oh, this one's going to be soapy. Second Impression: I imagined this scent was going to be warm and red, but it's green and sharp. Final Analysis: It did turn soapy, as I suspected it would. Got this in a swap and just made arrangements to swap it out.
-
First Impression: Musk and leather. I never smelled anything like this. Vaguely masculine. Second Impression: No, not masculine, but Dominatrix. Loviatar calls to mind a Dominatrix, clad in her finest leather, in her dungeon with her whips. Final Analysis: This smells really good on me, it's very empowering. I think I'll wear this when I go see Catwoman!
