Masculine? Sharp? Cologn-y? This is why my chemistry is so weird compared to everyone else's... I am getting a sweet floral...the rockrose is prominent, but the champaca is overtaking all. Although I like it, it's so one note on me - and now it's fading. Darn. It sounded so good.

As soon as this touched my skin, the jasmine floral amped, and I couldnt smell anything else. Soon after that, it faded to a very faint floral with possibly the faintest tinge of the amber and tea. So sad...as I sniff my arm again, I barely smell anything. It disappeared in 10 minutes.

well.. Embalming Fluid has always been a no-go for me, but I am reminded exactly why. The chocolate fades immediately and what is left is the trademark medicinal, faintly licoricey, very unpleasant, sort of alcoholic scent that is one of the worst smells I have ever put on my skin. The odor wafting up from my arm as I type this reminds me of the breath of someone who has spent the night drinking licorice schnapps and vodka gimlets and probably has alcohol poisoning. Just sickening! Finishing this quickly so I can run to scrub it off!!

This is all orange blossom, neroli on me...I'm getting very little of anything else. It's pleasant and pretty, but a bit too sweet, which is probably due to the amber as well. On dry down, still sweet. It's not til it's been on for 30-40 minutes that the overly sweet aspects fade and the gentler, calming beeswax comes out. I wish more beeswax! So I may try this with Hand of Glory, if I still have it. ETA: Layered this with Hand of Glory - it totally grounds out the cloying sweetness. I'm going to have to try wearing this layered and see what happens.

This is all warm, autumn nights with the scent of pumpkins and spices wafting through the air. It reminds me of aspects of Samhain. It's too bad it doesnt last very long though.

This is a sexy, sweaty, earthy scent with a faint sweetness. It makes me think of sweaty bodies after sex. There is something in it that reminds me of Sara Pezzini, however, the listed notes don't match. I am amping the amber and tobacco, and probably the benzoin too, which is giving it a slight acrid quality. It doesn't morph, and I like it, but it's not something I would wear. I would like to smell it on my husband...now to try to get him to try it.

This starts out complex but over-poweringly sweet and strong to me. It dried down and settled a little, but still way too much for my nose and head.

Aaack! The balsam and patchouli amp and in an unpleasant way! Sawdust...fresh, dirty sawdust - with maybe a touch of sandlewood, and the faintest tinge of rose somewhere. I'm not getting anything pleasant out of this.

So, I had to apply this twice. The first time, my skin ate it in minutes and I couldn't even find where I'd applied it. The second time, the chocolate amped quickly, and then it faded just as quickly until only the faintest scent of lavender and white musk remained. I am so sad.

This started out all super sweet incense and musk...couldn't smell anything else. As it sits for a couple minutes, I think I'm getting some leather (which is the note I wanted most). I actually want to try wearing this for an entire day now. It's got that sophisticated edge to it that makes it seem very wearable. And it;s drying more...and if I don't stop huffing my arm, a headache is going to start. I really want to test this with a heavier leather scent and see what happens. ETA: 5 minutes later and damn the notes that turn to sweet powder on me all to hell. powder with a tinge of background leather...*sigh* must retest.

This scent started out really nice - sweet, complex, and white musk is always a winner with me. However, in no time all the complexity faded and I was left with a sort of sweet powdery smell. At first I thought vanilla...but no vanilla is in it, right? Finally it faded to a faint powdery smell. I can only assume it is once again ambergris reacting to my skin. I REALLY wish the scent stayed true to how it smells when I first put it on. sad

This was high-pitched to me. It was harsh at first application, then dried down to a balanced, sweet verbena with what I SWEAR smells like chamomile. If more of that herbal smell came out, it would be a winner. Not bad, but not for me. ETA: Surprising change - It is now this very pleasant, slightly sweet, summery skin scent! Everything is balanced and it's very pretty! (SMH - skin chemistry)

Let me start by saying, I am NOT a BPAL floral person. This may be the exception. What the first reviewer said, about 'grand', 'powerful'...and all the rest - yes. It's strong and full of flowers and I get images of a gilded French drawing room with huge bouquets of flowers, women in lux silk dresses that waft notes of this oil around them as they converse and drink tea. A very worthy floral...complex, deep, huge. I'm surprised! Better as a scent wafting in the air than actually huffing my skin though. This would be a WONDERFUL atmo.

The full-flavored zest of life is taken over by the funereal roses and baby powder of the undertaker. On first sniff, I was immediately intrigued because I always do well with the Lab's cherry scents. However, the rose amps after several minutes, with a powdery background. All the complexity of the bourbon and cherries has disappeared like a memory. Very sad even.. very appropriate.

More complex than other florals I've tried - there is a tone of sophistication to it, a bit lux even. I agree regarding the previous comments of it being sweet and wildflowerish. A young scent, but with a playful background. Will see how it lasts on me, but I really do like it, and thats a change from other BPAL florals!

I usually like the cherry notes, and this was no exception - I guess I would prefer this as a candle -more subtle. The anise really comes out a lot. Makes me want a Dr. Pepper!

This is pretty clean and straightforward. I get all the listed notes easily on application. It pretty much is staying that way, but I tend to amp the Lab's lemon and rose notes, and that's whats happening. If the apple stayed with them, I would like this a lot for a warm weather, fun scent. But sour roses? no thanks.

Gunpowder and lemons. Dry-down it becomes gunpowder, airplane exhaust (jet fuel?), and a touch of lemon. Still waiting... It's mellowing but that's the scent I'm getting. Not something I would wear...maybe for anointing objects, but thats it. Maybe to use on the car?

I seemed to amp the acrid leather note immediately. However, after 10-15 minutes, the cool, fresh scent comes out, and combining the two, after 30 minutes, I get the image of a cold, grey day outdoors. It's a perfect image of the scent's name.

Neutral starts out smelling much like one of my favorite Tom Ford scents, and then alters to be more of a masculine, patchouli/spicy scent. However, after wearing it for half an hour it is truly a wonderful slightly musky skin scent. Everything has settled and it fells to me truly neutral - not fem, not masculine. Perfect for layering.

If you normally can't wear the Lab's amber, try this one! I'm glad I did. FINALLY a BPAL amber that doesn't turn to powder on me, but becomes that warm, rich scent I know and love from my essential oil blends. The scent does start sweet...but it warms up and changes to a rich, warm, spicy scent, first incense then spicier. I love this. I wish I had a bottle.

I was so excited to try this. So far, in the scent locket, it smells like a very old, vintage type perfume. The florals are hiding the leather...I have to press my nose up to the locket to get ANY leather note of any kind, its very faint, kind of chemical-leather. The patchouli, I never would've known it was in here...its hiding WAY in the back behind the frankincense and other notes. Damn those flowers. It reminds me as if I time-traveled back to maybe the 1910's or 20's, and went into a dressing room used by both men and women. really vintage, not something I choose to wear. Tomorrow I try a skin test...I really want this to work.

Okay, people, my favorite way of testing atmo sprays is by spraying the house lightly, running errands and than seeing what the house smells like when I return... Well, I have to tell you, when I walked in my house I thought someone had been smoking reefer..and I havent been for a long time! After that is was a meady, fruity scent, maybe some kind of baked thing, like bread...but the outstanding scent was fresh reeefer. It was awesome!

Mournful and Never-ending Remembrance: shining, moonlit ebony musk with benzoin, myrrh, smoky vanilla, patchouli, nutmeg, and dried red chili. This is a WINNER!!! I can now add Raven Moon to my exceedingly short list of oils that work with my skin chemistry. The incense and patchouli are what hold it down for me, because I can see that the vanilla would like to fly off with the entire scent! Vanilla notes generally turn to sweet powder, and thats a yuck for me. However, I smell something leathery, and it reminds me of the Marquis de Carabas in a gentler, sweeter way. This is a bottle-worthy scent -I hope I can get one!
