In The Imp: No clue what the notes smell like on their own, but MMMMMMM - more clean florals, yay! I'd say it's not *quite* aquatic, but very cool nonetheless. I might try layering it with Danube. Immediate Application: Smells sweeter on my skin. Not sugary-sweet, but floral-sweet. 30-45 Minutes Later: Like all the other pretty florals I'm so fond of, it disappears pretty fast. About an hour later, I have to really sniff to get a hint of the scent that was there. I hate my skin sometimes. Verdict: Definitely going on the 5ml wish list.

In The Bottle: Oh, hey lavender. 'Sup? Immediate Application: This is either really well blended, or my nose really sucks. I can't tell where one note ends and another begins for the most part. ^^;; (Then again, I'm a perfume n00b who has no clue what most of the components smell like on their own, so. Yeah.) 30-45 Minutes: The initial sharpness fades and it becomes a lot sweeter. I think I'm looking for something a bit different for a romantic!perfume, but this may be a pretty good daily-routine perfume. I'll try it again later on in the month to see if I still feel the same. All in all, me likey. [ETA - A Couple Of Months Later] Oh, Carnation. YES! This is much lovelier than I initially realized, I think I had to get over my preconceived notions and expectations about this scent to appreciate it for itself. Very soft, very romantic - dare I say Disney!romantic? Certainly fitting for the poetry/lit style it's named after.

Got this as a frimp from the lab. Not something I'd order or wear for myself - very, very masculine - but if I had a boyfriend and he put this on? We'd probably never make it out of the bedroom. In The Bottle: Very...clean. Sharp. Tad bit woodsy - guessing that's the pine - but for the most part, kinda like your usual aftershave/cologne. Immediate Application: Y HULLO THAR ROSEMARY. *COUGH* 30-45 Minutes Later: The rosemary backs off a bit (though it's still noticeable) and I smell the other notes, and after a bit it starts smelling kinda smoky. Not sure if it's the oil or just my inability to NOT think of Rome burning. So saving this for any hypothetical future BF. Just sayin'!

Oh, sandalwood. I want to love you, really, but you overpower EVERYTHING ELSE to such a degree that it gets obnoxious. Yes, I noticed you. Now please let me enjoy the other notes? In The Imp: Very strong. Not BEWARE OF HEADACHES like French Love, but it nearly knocked me flat when I first opened the imp. HELLOOOOOOO, NURSE SANDALWOOD! Application: Sandalwood. Dry-Down: Sandalwood. 30-45 Minutes Later: Faded sandalwood. This is the oil that took my BPAL Virginity - while I wanted it to be one of those ~*ONE TRUE LOVE*~ experiences, like 99% of the rest of the world, it didn't work out. Ah, well. Experience leads to wisdom, right?

This is one for my 5ml wish list. In The Bottle: Lots of pear. I can smell vaguely floral-y scents, but mostly pear, pear, pear. Not bad, mind you - I normally don't go for fruity/foody scents but what I've found in BPAL so far is nice. Immediate Application: Still lots of pear, which seems to do interesting/nice things on my skin. Some freshness from the florals start to poke through after a few minutes. 30-45 Minutes Later: The pear backs off a bit more, I smell more of the clean, slightly sharp type of freshness that I associate with florals. I have to agree with others that point out that this is a very "pink" scent - I also pick up hints of gold and a touch of green here and there. Very feminine.

Like it, but I have to be careful because putting on more than a little bit gives me a headache! (Tiny dabs on the neck and cleavage and that's plenty.) I can't even hold the imp very close to my nose for more than a second - if I want a whiff, I usually wave the (closed) imp around in the air about 5-6 inches away from my nose. I couldn't even begin to identify any specific notes in this one. All I know is after wearing it for a while, it seems to smell a little sweeter than when it starts out.

Have to say that I'm mystified as to where people are getting the citrus notes from, for me it's all aquatic with just enough flowery goodness to keep it from being too Men's Cologne-ish. It's my favorite scent so far (to be fair, I've only tried 7 scents at this point) and makes me feel so cool and clean between showers that I ordered a 5ml bottle. Cool and clean are very important, since I live in a part of the country where the average temp is about 115F for 9 months of the year. My only qualm? It seems to fade so fast! I don't know whether my skin is literally eating the fragrance or my nose just gets used to it - makes me very paranoid about re-applying. In The Bottle: Pure watery goodness with just a bit of floral. It's like I'm swimming! Definitely conjures up images of the Danube at dusk or nighttime. Immediate Application: Still lots of aquatics, little more floral. Dry-down: More floral peeks through. 30 Minutes Later: Almost gone! What's left is mostly floral with just enough aquatics to cool them a bit.
