I swear I've reviewed or at least tried my bottle of this before, but what I'm smelling is definitely NOT what I thought I was going to smell. It may be that aging has deepened the scent, but wow, very strong patch and woody fir, definitely masculine. The other, sweet notes are in the background, not really noticeable in their own right, but serving to deepen the scent, making it more complex. In the end, I feel it's too masculine for me. It would probably smell good on my boyfriend though. It is veering into the high pitched, maybe-that's-cat-pee territory on me, as others have mentioned, though, so it may be the same case for him. At least it's not soapy though.

A really nice fall apple scent, but not as creamy as the notes would imply. I think it's more high pitched and alcoholy than a "warm" apple cinnamon milky scent, which is what I wanted it to be.

Heavy on the champaca and olive blossom initially, and after the initial burst fades, jasmine pops out. As it settles the smoky vanilla makes itself more known. All in all, it's pretty, but I'm on the fence of like vs love - must retest again another day.

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't like the milk note in this. But this seems to hold true for every company I've tried that has the buttery milk note. Don't be fooled; I love cream and milk notes, but the particular curdled, buttery...goaty variety is not something I want to smell or smell like, unless I am actually eating something made out of goat milk, like cheese or ice cream, mmm. Perfume, no. lol This blend is better than other ones I've smelled with the sour milk note... from the other companies, it was retch inducing. Thankfully, the other notes do their job and round the scent out.

Thank you all! I have made a mental note to check those two out.

Not sure if I should make a thread or not, but does anyone know of any aquatic vanillas? List all of the ones you are familiar with, if so... I'm really curious!

So I managed to hunt down a 10ml of this one, and when I first got it in the mail all I smelled was lemongrass. I was sad, but left it for a few months. Now that I'm testing it again, I still smell a lemon/lime smell but a soft hint of tropical coconut comes out more now and it's so divine. It's like a key lime coconut cookie.

Ew ew ew, it's the warm gross cream note like the one from Boo! It smells like the turkey note from Drink Me, too. I'm gonna hurl! My second fav. flavour of ice cream is cherry goats milk. And cherry and cream notes work on me all the time; but never together with BPAL. It just smells like off cream... and weird turkey. I'm running for the hills.

A nice honey and peachy scent, though I wish it went more the way of Sugared Peaches' BO more creamy, pie-y peach. Still pretty though!

What Ought To Have Been A Red Rose Tree
MiasmaResonance replied to violetblue's topic in Retail Exclusive Oils
In the decant, this is just heavenly. Reminds me so much of petites fours. A slightly rosey kind. On: At first, that delicious almond cake is present while it's wet, but it dries into something more floral, thanks to the rose. The almond cake is still there, but the rosey tea adds another dimension to it. While I would have preferred just a white almond cake perfume, because NOM, this is still really pretty. I also think it would age well. Still on the fence about a bottle though; if only it stayed petit four single note instead of morhping. -
So yummy in my decant! On: Creamy, fluffy cakey currants. The more it dries, it takes on a sort of soapy tinge...noooo! I get the comparisons to Eat Me. Eat Me didn't really gel with me too well, despite the fact that I love foodie scents. So...this is pretty. But not pretty enough or unique enough compared to other blends I have to buy a bottle of.

Kabuki could work. A Luper from this year called Reflected Vulva could be good as well.

On the skin, it's very crisp apple, as opposed to how it smells like more honeyed apple in the decant. I agree with the 'shampoo lingering after shower' description. This ends up being pretty, sweet apple green tea. Would love a candle or room spray with this; I may not sell this and mix it in a spray bottle with some atmo spray base I have.

Kneel Down, Fair Love, and Fill Thyself with Tears
MiasmaResonance replied to GoldenRubee's topic in Lupercalia
Light, clean, sweet musk in the decant. On my skin, wow, that's different! Much brighter on the skin than in the imp... I really like Dark Alice's description of the scent, and I pretty much completely agree, so just refer to that. I'm not sure about a bottle, but it really is very, very lovely. -
Smells like pee in my decant? On: Pee! Floral...pee. Slightly nutmeggy floral pee. It's like your old senile granny whom no one talks about, making a demented dessert. AHHHH- (The pee pretty much fades after a while, into a meh-light-floral perfume. Fooey.)

Something I chose to get a decant of simply because I wanted to see how it smelled, not because I thought it would work on my skin. I agree, it's very raw in the decant/bottle, which I expected, in large part due to the green cognac and brittle vanilla pod notes, I'm sure. On... this...is very, very sexy. Whaaa? It's not traditionally sexy to me, but the hint of vanilla in addition to the heavy, heavy smokiness makes it so. Very, very unique, something to wear at night, and maybe when it's cooler out. AHA! I know what this reminds me of. The holy smoke/incense that is sometimes used in churches (which I love the smell of). Like that, but sexy. So wrong but so right! It's that and a hint of actual woodsmoke, sweetened by vanilla and a hint of poppy as it develops... So unique! Now I just need to figure out when I could wear this. Can't stop sniffing it because it's so different.

In the decant: Aquatic beeswax and rose. On skin: Very light and a sweet aquatic. I'm not an aquatic person, so this isn't for me, but I wanted to try it out any way. I'm glad I did, because I'm not disappointed. It's very nice to smell, but not something I'd wear.

Incensey jasmine wine in the decant. On my skin, it's much of the same, but the jasmine comes out more. I have come to appreciate jasmine so much more over the last few months, so this is really nice for me. The hint of raspberry wine is lush and delicious, but it's such a small hint, I wish there was more of it on me in this blend. May still be bottle worthy, though! As I sit here, the raspberry wine makes its presence more known. Yay!

Decant: Whoa! Hello, magnolia and honey! On skin:More light tobacco comes out, but it is just as the description says, blonde tobacco. The vanilla comes out more on the skin. This is really pretty, light honeyed blonde tobacco with a heavy overlay of magnolia. I love magnolia, and this blend is very interesting, but I may have to retest. Not sure I'll spring for a bottle.

Licorice? Why do you smell like licorice? Oh, everyone mentioned root beer. Yep, there's root beer. That's so weird and unexpected! I guess I can smell how it morphs into Nag... and also agree with the poster who ascribed this as Nag burning in an upscale coffee house. It's very pretty, though I'm not sure I'd wear it often.

This is just breathtaking, and one of the most unique BPALs I've tried. Not only divine in the decant, but on my arm, even more heavenly. It's been 2 seconds and I already know I'm getting a bottle. Creamy, fluffy sweet pea and wafts of cherry blossom. I think a word to describe this is "darling". It's sugary, not overwhelming floral. Rocketing to the top of my favourites list... and normally florals fail on me! I do get the coconutty/Snow White comparisions. Even though I don't interpret this as having a coconut note per se, I definitely agree it has a similar feel. This is the spring Snow White, if you're going to compare them. 10 out of 10.

Okay, in my decant, this smells absolutely DIVINE and NOM WORTHY. Has a hint of a spicy, nutty undertone, underneath the slight tinge of fruit and creaminess. It's really nice; may have to retest, though, since on it's not OMGLOVE.

I want to start by saying that Blood Kiss, the original, didn't work on me. This, however, goes on much better from the start. This is DELISH. I wanted to love Blood Kiss, and couldn't, but this works. It's sexy, not all that foodie. The vetiver does add a sharp tinge to the blend, but does calm down after a while. The chocolate/vanilla/honey trio help make it more wearable for me.

Smells delicious in the imp! Not foody delicious, but sweet floral delicious. On, there's a slight plastic smell to it...hope it goes away. It may just be some high pitched green note. It's light, creamy orchid with a hint of fig on me. It's very lovely. As it mellows, it becomes more milky and softly sweet, with that weird off note fading away.
