I got frimped this in an order, and I normally would have avoided it due to the rose note - I'm just not a flowery person, and floral notes tend to scream unpleasantly on my skin - but I figured since I had it, I'd give the honeycomb, wheat, and myrrh a chance. In the bottle: Oh wow, honeycomb. I expected to smell more of the rose. Wet on skin: Oh THERE'S the rose. Not potpourri-ish, though. These smell like tiny, pink sweetheart roses. A little girly for me but not bad. Drydown: Starting to go to a dimestore rose scent, but with a hint of something bolder in the background that is barely saving it. Summary: Pretty good for a rose scent, but still too rose-ish for me, I'm afraid.

This one looked so lovely I couldn't resist. Sadly, I probably should have. On wet: Interesting. Teakwood, like an old boat, and a hint of herbs. Drydown: Kind of smells watery. I didn't think there were aquatics in this... Damp, and sort of musty and... is that a... laundry room I smell? Dry: Oh god laundry soap. Tide Classic. I can see the box in my head. Sigh. This is going in the sell-or-swap pile.

On wet: Holy crap, it's like being punched in the nose by a stargazer lily with teeth! x_x Drydown: Starts smelling like eucalyptus, maybe licorice, and a hint of bitter citrus. Starts drying out my throat and making me cough. Just when I think I might have to wash it off, it settles down into sweet mint and fresh blood orange. Wow, this one went from a wet disaster into a dry keeper. I love the way it lingers on my skin.

'07 version. On wet: ...Jellybeans!? fading to... currant wine... ACK, sticky sweet and floral drying to... Hunh. Cranberries? Potpourri? Dry: Intriguing! Spiced Christmas fruit! Is that... sugarplums I smell? Cranberry chutney? Overall not bad. Definitely a festive holiday scent.

On wet it has a faint hint of dirt and sugar cookies, like sitting in your top secret playhouse and munching on the loot you stole from the kitchen. As it dries, it starts to smell like old wood and vanilla pound cake. Dry, there's a hint of that perfect, foamy head you get from a good pint of Guinness, definitely still the old wood, and still the cake. Like having a drink and dessert at an old Irish pub. Makes me miss home.

First application: Wow, does the Irish coffee ever turn to buttercream icing on my skin! This must be Irish cream coffee, with Bailey's instead of Jameson. There's a faint hint of something else in the background that smells kiiiiiiind of like pipe tobacco, but mostly it smells like Irish cream coffee, vanilla sugar cookies, and buttercream icing. That'll make you hungry. Then I got a wild hair and layered it with Juke Joint, and suddenly it was two old gentlemen sipping their drinks, puffing cigars, and staring longingly at the crumbs of homemade vanilla pound cake while discussing their favorite old books.

First application of this went from HELLO MINT JULEP to, "...what the hell? Myrrh?" But I think I may have just been trying out too many scents that day. (It was "try everything" day and I had... a lot.) Second application on fresh skin a few days later went from HELLO MINT JULEP to, "Why, hello there, Mr. Julep. Would you like to sit with me on the porch? No, no, I don't mind -- just take the rocking chair. Can I get you something to drink? Oh! Did you get to see the Derby this year? It will never be as good as the year with Secretariat..." Fresh, herbal mint; the soft kick of Maker's Mark; and even tiny granules of sugar that didn't quite dissolve in the mixing. You can almost hear the ice clink against the frosted metal cup. Then I got a wild hair and layered it with Miskatonic University (that smells like pipe tobacco and sugar cookies on me... don't ask, I have no idea), and suddenly it was two old gentlemen sipping their drinks, puffing cigars, and staring longingly at the crumbs of homemade vanilla pound cake while discussing their favorite old books.

*sniffles* I had such high hopes for this one. Wet, it smelled like someone had just stuffed their pipe with tobacco, and my hopes soared-- --and crashed in a cloud of pink-white baby powder. *cries*
