Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?
ModderRhu replied to Donnababe's topic in Recommendations
YESSSS. there is something nice about being suffocated by dry dirty patchouli in the summer and it just smells better and better when it cooks on your skin. -
Amazing amazing amazing. Wow. If you like Lights of Men's Lives, you will like this. It's exactly the same to my nose. Love it!

This is my least favorite of the new hair glosses. The scent reminds me of (I hate myself for saying this) Juniper Breeze from Bath and Body Works. My favorite fragrance of theirs, but I don't want my BPAL hair products to smell like it! Phenomenal lasting power on this scent. It's also very heavy and it made my hair greasier than the other new glosses. I really don't dislike the smell and I could see myself being in he mood for it on certain days, so I think I will keep my decant. This is the only new hair gloss I can't see myself buying a bottle of in the future.

Love this scent. Dirty patchouli warmed by melty chunks of glowing amber. Very strongly scented with great lasting power. Like Morocco hair gloss, this one seems less likely to make my hair greasy even if I thought I used too much. Perfect year-round scent. It compliments pretty much any BPAL perfume oil I'd wear with it. Pairs well with the other hair glosses, too!

Well I knew I would love this one since I already love the perfume oil version of Morocco. It smells like fresh Morocco, which is smoother to my nose than aged. I wish the scent was stronger though. It's one of the lightest scented glosses from the new round. It's also the least greasy. I thought I sprayed too much one time, but it seems to be very forgiving! It also smells REALLY good if you use a little bit of Amber & Parchouli hair gloss with it

This smells like fresh coconut cream with a hint of floral and a tiny bit of anise. The anise goes away pretty fast so don't let that scare you. This is one of the heavier hair glosses out of the new round, scent wise and moisture wise. So use a light hand! I am very happy with the scent and I didn't think I'd like it since so many hair products out there have that generic coconut smell. Not so with this! It's lovely

Phwoarghhhhh! Too sweet! I love black coconut to bits, but I need it to be with mostly non-sweet things. Goblin and Tiki King come to mind. I was hoping to get more salty ambergris out of this. I am such a foodie but this is too much. Wet sugar paste rolled in sugar with powdered sugar on top, drizzled with molasses and a speck of coconut. Glad I didn't go for a bottle!

Perfect lemony tea. Not much leather, but I only dabbed. I love it anyway.

At first sniff this smells exactly like The First of the Three Spirits. As I'm wearing it, the skin musk comes out quite strongly. I'm able to identify it only because I have an imp of Neutral it gets kind of perfumey, but later on the musk settles and melds with the sweeter elements of the oil. It's quite nice. Not what I was expecting though. If you are looking for a less BPALicorny version of this, try The First of the Three Spirits. It's almost exactly the same.

Bitter currant with lovely bright lemon zest. Yet there's something weirdly vegetable about this scent. Like most of the 2012 Metamorphosis series, I'd describe it as planty.

Tomato vomit. I hate that I don't love any of these bug smells

This is the only BPAL that turned into baby powder on me when it wasn't listed as an ingredient. bad luck with this round of bugs…

A lovely orange jasmine sausage! With wild plants. Not my fave.

This is…weird. Like room temp coffee with soured milk. And a little cologne. Not for me!
-
This is pretty much spicy Dragon's Milk. Nice but I prefer DM.
-
Too sweet. Saccharine sweet sort of plastic. I think I'm pretty much only getting mimosa. No resins. Strange because those usually stand out the most in blends for me.
-
I get no smoke whatsoever which is a relief. I really like this! It's like a nice mint cucumber tea.
-
At first it's very bitter and almost poisonous smelling. After an hour of drying down its an outdoorsy planty citronella. No coconut. No ambergris. Disappointing

Nice! A little boozy and not quite tart enough to balance the sweetness of the blueberry. It's nice though.

Smells like Banshee Beat with a planty herbal twang. I prefer Banshee Beat.

Something with a lot of clove. Dogs hate clove. If you must use bpal.

I thought this was gonna be kind of like a spicier Snake Oil. Maybe like a muskier, warmer Celeste. In the bottle, it smells like envelope glue. On my skin, it goes between smelling like the glue, underripe bananas, and chlorine. However, I'm still sniffing my wrist going "mmmmm." What is wrong with me? I guess there is kind of a sweetness under all that bitter stuff. It's very weird and not what I expected, but it is slowly growing on me! My nose just has to learn to understand Gypsy. It wants to like it. I know it does. It just needs time!

i've been wondering that too. since the day i got it!

first thing that came to mind was variety of pleasing amusements in the current shungas. Honey, leather, tobacco, and myrrh. i personally love it on me. it sounds a lot like what you described.

This is beautiful sandalwood that was slathered in butter, sprinkled with sugar, and toasted in the oven
