Wow... not at all what I was expecting. There's a strange shot of fruitiness that knocks me over right away... I'm assuming this is the plum? I haven't sniffed a plum note before but this is exactly like a note I sniffed in one of my Chaos Theories < hops > It's so nice to know what that is finally... lol. This settles into a fruity, incensy blend on me. I can still smell the fruity sweetness of the plums, but there's something in the background that seems a bit darker, more sinister....

The Hummingbird of Love, the Rose Sucker. A potent, benevolent, merciful love blend. Mmm... cinnamon. < drools slightly > This isn't a foody cinnamon though like I normally sniff in like cinnamon roll scents for example, it's a pushy cinnamon (like Red Hots)that's in your face and just... yummy scrumptious. i can catch a faint hint of something else though... not sure what it is... another spice perhaps? Anyhow, I'm not sure I care... this is a very nice cinnamony scent and I can see myself ordering a bottle for the holidays - the time of the year when I'm most in love with smelling of cinnamony goodness. ETA - Erm.... and everyone else gets roses and honeysuckle. O_o.... this *has* to be mislabeled..... < investigates >

This doesn't list any wood notes but I'm definitely picking something up along those lines. This is such a strangely complex blend. It's herbal but dry... like they're not fresh herbs... more like a stale herb that's sat unused on a shelf for a few years. Very strange. It's not for me, but I'm having a hard time describing it. < shrug >
-
Hmm... a sweet floral scent overshadowed by a grassy plant note. I guess that's what meadowsweet is? I can definitely pick out the orchid in this but other than that I'm at a loss. It's a good blend, just not for me. (broken imp cap)

Mmm.. more fruity goodness. The d'Anjou Pear in this is absolutely decadent. So sweet and syrupy. I'm surprised the bois du rose doesn't come out more as woods tend to hate me something fierce but this appears to be staying right where it should. This is a sweet scent but it's not overtly sugary... it's that definite sugar sweetness that you get from fruits without any extra additives. I'm going to order a bottle of this... < nods >

Label's misspelled "langour". This started out on me as a light floral scent... and then proceeded to disappear before I could pick anything else out. Very strange... my skin hasn't "soaked up" a blend like this ever before. Hrm... I will try it again later and see what I get.

A strangely refreshing scent considering the moniker. Very light and uplifting, lemony freshness. The white musk is apparent but light. This scent isn't heavy at all and it knows it. A perfect white musk scent... I might send it along to my grandma since she's a fan of white musks... she'd probably get a kick out of the name at the same time. This is a perfect scent for white musk lovers who want something that isn't overpowering and in your face. (broken imp cap)

On first whiff I get the almond... it smells almost cherry-ish. There's a faint hint of creamy vanilla in the background too. After the drydown I finally get a dollop of cinnamon as well with a light floral teasing in the background. The vanilla comes out into a bit more headier, sweeter form... almost like french vanilla but lacking in that odd sour note I usually get from it. This is such a nice scent and I'm pleasantly surprised that I like it this much. I'll put it on my bottle wishlist but it's not a must-have-right-away one.

Here's another one I ordered a 10 mL bottle of before the imp got here and I had even sniffed it. And erm... I'm not quite so happy I had. This blend smells horrible on me. I can get some of the honey note... it's very heavy and languorous but not very sweet at all. It reminds me of a chestnut honey I tried once... very strong and bitter. I can sniff the spicyness of the clove but there's something else that's entirely too strong for me... perhaps the feral musk? Ugh... just ugh. I'm not liking this blend at all. I'm getting a definite "woodsy" note though that's amping up horribly on my skin... I feel like I'm locked in a wooden chest or something it smells so strongly.
-
Hmm... this starts out sweet and lemony-herbal. And... it appears to stay that way. < astonished > I keep expecting the sandalwood or cedarwood to jump out and overwhelm me like normal but they stay away like they're supposed to. < scratches head > This stays with the lemongrass and actually reminds me a lot of LUSH's Avobath in that respect. Wow... I can't believe this blend smells so good on me! I might have to buy a bottle because of the shock value alone. It's a light and breezy, airy scent that is a bit soothing to me. After drydown I can catch a faint whiff of jasmine but it's still mostly that gorgeous lemongrass.
-
Gah... cedar! < hides > Nothing but cedar... I feel like I'm locked inside of one of those giant cedar chests that my great-grandma used to put her sweaters in. Nothing but cedar..... perhaps a faint hint of patchouli, but too much overwhelming cedar to know for sure.

Reminiscent of hothouse blooms on a humid night, ripe, but touched with decay. Sweet honeysuckle and jasmine with a hint of lemon and spice. Definitely honeysuckle. I used to have huge bushes of this growing in our backyard when I was a kid. This is a humid, almost tropical scent. I don't know how something can *smell* humid, but this pulls it off. There's a scent of lemon as well which gives it a refreshing zesty quality that makes it "fresher.... more alive" somehow. Good scent but not a new favorite of mine... off to the swap pile.

Hollywood Babylon - Mmm... this is very sweet. I'm loving it. Juicy strawberries dunked into a rich vanilla cream with a side dipping of cherry flavored liquor. Just hedonistic and wonderful. < love > After the inital drydown I get a lght, sweet floral that seems very innocent in nature. Happy and polite.... I don't get that plasticy scent I normally get with strawberry notes (Bon Vivant), this is a rich juicy berry the entire time. <3 I must order me a bottle of this soon.
-
Mmm... cherries.... AHHHH... anise! < hides > Black licorice nastiness... this is what ruined Kabuki for me and now it's ruining Kyoto. < cries > Such a nasty sickly sweet note... anise really amps on me and it STINKS. After the initial drydown all I get is anise... blech. I was hoping this would be one of those notes that just never rears it's ugly head but here it is again... < sigh >

Mmmm... a very juicy citrus. Not at all tangy or sour... just wonderful and sweet. Roses and citrus are a great pair... of course I love everything with BPALs rose in it, so this isn't surprising to me. I can catch a faint hint of jasmine wafting about but it doesn't seem to want to come out into full bloom, it's content to dance serenly about the citrus fruits and plump roses.
-
When first applied this smells very strongly of lemons... but not the Pledge lemon scent of Delirium for example, this is a pure, juicy lemon scent. After the initial drydown, I get more of the jasmine come out and it just smells divine. This was an imp I'd ordered in June and before it even got here I had talked myself into a 10 mL bottle.... I'm glad I did... lol. This is a very heady floral, a bit cool and aquatic in nature. With a bouquet of red roses floating about. Wonderful wonderful scent. (broken imp cap)

I love the new shiny plasticy labels... yay for no more oil stains and smudges!

DCLI (651) - Ugh... not the best thing in the world. I immediately get this weird sour note like the pumpkin in pumpkin patch #1. Also a strange incensy wood note. It kind've grows on me though. I'm getting that "note I've sniffed in candle form once" again from this one. DCLXII (662) - Erm... not sure I like this one. I mean, it doesn't smell like crotch-stain or anything truly bad, just not my type of scent. A very faint hint of a wood of some sort (my skin normally amps these up and I can tell right away what they are but this one is staying hidden)... a spicy undertone (like something I may put into a Middle Eastern/Indian food recipe)... wow, I really wish I was better at picking out scents here. I'm sure this is a scent someone would love... it's very well put together and nicely complex. I'd rate it at a very high score myself because it's so well done, it's just not my kind of scent to wear. I'm just not sure what category I'd put it under for swap purposes... it's not quite a woodsy and it's not a foody or really a spicy. Absolute chaos ftw! I might have to try this one on again later and see if I can pick anything else out. Hmm... back. Now, I'm getting something like I smelled in a candle shop. It's not wax, but a scent that I have smelled in candle form before. What the hell is it? It's driving me nuts. These Chaos Theories may end up being detrimental to my mental state. Okay, so I'm going back to sniffing straight from the bottle in hopes of figuring this out. I get a very strong dark berry fruity scent... perhaps a plum? It smells sort of raisin-ish. And now I'm starting to get a headache from all the inhaling trying to figure this out... lol. Am I sniffing cinnamon? It can't be, but there's something very faint in the background that has that spicy sweetness of cinnamon. I think that "candle scent" I picked up is a definite spice (I just couldn't tell you which one). It's sort of an autumnal spicy scent. I give up... lol. I know I don't like it as a blend for myself so if I end up swapping/selling it, this is the best description you're gonna get because I can't do any better. :lol ETA - I'm back yet again. I know... this *one* review might just kill me or you... wait till I get my other 5 bottles.... Well, I tried it on again last night and it's *much* more easier to tell what it is (might be TMI but I guess that shows me to try to test things when it's that time o' the month). It's definitely FLORAL... and I'm pretty sure it's violets. It dries down to a creamy powdery scent. I still get that note that I've smelled in Yankee Tart/Candle form before... just can't figure out what it is though. Maybe I'll go sniff some of the Yankee tarts at the BX today to see if anything pops out at me. So... yeah... scratch all that spicy wood nonesense... it's total bunk. Once I get some decanting supplies I will send an imp off to my best friend because she's *much* more practised at picking out notes than I am. < nods > ETA2 - Figured out that that raisiny note I pick up from the bottle smells just like the plum in Oya... so yay! I've finally narrowed it down to Plum and Violets! DCLXIV (664) - Ick... another strange incensy note. Wow... I really *SUCK* at describing these things. >_< This *could* be a foody blend but it's not sweet and it's giving me a headache now. DCXCII (692) - Hmm... almost citrussy. A fresh clear aquatic-type scent. A faint hint of floral.... perhaps a lily. MCCCXXVI - Definitely catching a citrus in here... or actually, it's more like an herbal... perhaps lemongrass or lemon verbena, or maybe even both. This is a somewhat bright and cheerful scent. Might actually end up being my favorite of all my CTs. If only for the reason that I can actually tell you the main note in it... MCCCXIII/ - There's a "clean" note in this one... almost an herbal tea-like scent. I think also perhaps a faint faint fruit... maybe a plum? There's a note that keeps tickling my memory but I don't know what it is... A sweet clean scent. Quite possibly that tea I mentioned before.

Mmmm... yummy. On first whiff I can definitely pick out the pomegranate mixed in with a faint autumnal spicy/herbal mix of everything else. I think HM 2005 will still be my favorite of the 2 but this is a *very* close 2nd. After the initial drydown I get more berries and fruits. Some hints of planty-goodness (I'm assuming the bamboo shoots/wheat). Ooh and now I'm really getting some of that plum/apple/cherry combo! Wow... just scrumptious. Damn, I might have to change my previous assumption that HM 2005 was my favored of the two... this fruity drydown may just bump it right out of it's first place.

A scent that captures a meeting of the serenity and elegance of ancient Japan, the vibrant, shining, neon-lit and ultra-modern splendor of today's Tokyo and the fantastic electric fantasyland of post-modern manga fantasy. Urban metallics and an ozone-tinged breath of electric light mingled with reedy bamboo, crisp mountain air, cherry blossoms, delicate orchid and a splash of playful, wet fruits. Ooh... definitely catching that "electric" zing... that's impressive. I have no clue what it is but "electric" just perfectly describes it. I'm also getting a very lovely ozone note that's lightly tapped with a tinge of sweet florals. To be honest, when I first tried this on, I wasn't sure I liked it *that* much but it's growing on me. Not enough that I'll buy a whole bottle but it has still upped it's score. But ooh... wait. I'm starting to get a hint of wet fruits like in Eris..... Ooh now, that may just change my mind about ordering a bottle! Yeah, once it gets out of that metallic/electric "city" scent and into the gardens/parks sweetness it's just wonderful. Wow... from bottle to drydown it's upped it's score through 3 levels! That's impressive too.... lol.

Hmmm... berries most definitely... and a hint of fizziness. Not sure if I'd quite classify it as a champagne note but it's definitely got that feel to it. A sweet fizziness.... not *exactly* a strawberry and champagne scent but I'm really getting the impression that it's what it's striving for. Fizzy summer scent. Perfect for a little girl scent I think.
-
Whoa CEDAR! Erm, yeah... my skin *really* amplifies that note. I feel like I just walked into some Texas Hill Country store with all the cedar panaling. My grandparents used to have their living room done up in all cedar trim and this reminds me of that... but it's not really a scent I want to WEAR. I catch a faint spicy hint of the frankincense, but naught else.
-
Heavy (but not heady) floral. I've been avoiding carnation scents because I hate the smell of carnations... then I get Desdemona as a frimp and try it out... my skin TOTALLY AMPLIFIES carnations... it's like it knows what I hate. Drats... I was hoping I'd get more of the water lily. < sigh > Oh well.... off to the swap pile for this one.
-
Oooh... this smells a lot better than I expected it to! I mean, I knew it would smell good but not this appealing. It's a very fresh and clean scent. I really feel like I'm sitting next to a stream and smelling the scent of "fresh flowing water" as it goes rushing past. Wet, on my skin I caught a faint hint of an herbal green grass note but after the drydown it's not anywhere to be seemingly found. This is a wonderful summer fresh scent and I'll probably be putting a bottle of this on my wishlist.

I can't get much of anything when I try this on. Strange. I'm going to try it on again in a second, I think the other scents I tried on earlier are interfering with sniffing this one. Nope... I wasn't wrong... I *am* getting sandalwood in this one... nothing but sandalwood sadly. My skin seems to amp up sandalwood something fierce so take heart if you're looking for something else in this one.
