Earthy and woodsy scent. Wet woods and musty dirt. Very very faint hint of sweetness in the background (I'm guessing the apricot) but it never really pops out into a full note.... just this hint of sweetness.
-
VERY musky sour citrus. Almost like grapefruit but 'tart-er'. Still that hint of grapefruit sweetness but still too sour for me to ever consider wearing. Good if you like these really strong citrus scents, but not for me.

I really wish my skin didn’t amp up the Christmas duo of frankincense and myrrh. I know there’s no frankincense in this blend but there is myrrh and it’s trying to completely obliterate the wonderful combo of roses and jasmine. Ever few minutes I’ll get a small whiff of my delectable rose/jasmine but this myrrh has just got to go! It’s still a very “womanly” scent perfect as an everyday signature scent… just not for me apparently.

Actually smells pretty good on me. A bit like those old timey-shaving soaps that my grandpa used to have lying around. With a hint of something like Old Spice in the background. Ohh… yes, most definitely have to get DH to try this one. It’s practically swoonworthy on my own skin, I can’t wait to see what it smells like on him!

Cedar! Definitely cedar!! Wow, does my skin ever amp up woods or what! I’m also getting an anise note as well… is this what sassafras smells like I suppose? Gah… just not working well on me. The cedar note is overpowering everything eternally.

A beautiful white floral scent. (Yes, I suck at giving floral descriptions) As the site’s description says I do get just a hint of some herbs but it’s definitely still floral. This is a very good fresh floral scent… perfect for a garden picnic social or as an everyday “signature” scent.
-
Mmmm… here’s that cherry I missed from Kabuki… without the nasty anise ruining things. I definitely get the white musk as well… it’s reminding me of the more expensive store-bought perfumes that always have that fruity white musk mixture. A hint of my favored rose as well. A very good scent but my skin soaks it up like there’s no tomorrow and it seems to be the first BPAL to ever fade so quickly on me.
-
Oooh… dreamy! The roses and musks in this are just amazing! Of course, I think BPALs roses are amazing 99% of the time… lol, so take that for what it’s worth. This smells like it could easily be a unisex scent and I’ll probably be putting it in the pile for DH to try as well. At least it has a “manly” name so perhaps that will help with the transition here… at least that’s what I’ll keep telling myself.

A *hint* of lime the description says? Yeah right!! I feel like I just fell into a vat of margaritas! After the initial drydown it settles more into the jasmine which is so deliciously beautiful. < dreamy sigh > I shall be buying a bottle of this one. Jasmine is usually a keeper with me.

Oooh yummy… this is exactly what I *expected* Lush’s Jungle to smell like but was so sorely disappointed. It’s a wonderful woodsy jungle scent. The woods are staying calm on me so far (my skin normally really amplifies woods and distorts them into horrible facsimiles of my most horrid nightmares). Not quite fruity but a mango or two would make this scent just perfect… perhaps a layering is in order with some mango-heavy scents….. < runs off to experiment >

OMG.. cherries!! Wonderful boozy cherries too! I know there’s probably no boozey notes in Kabuki, it’s just the anise/licorice making it smell that way. In fact… the anise is making itself more well known and really ruining the beautiful cherry scent I had going on when it was wet. >_< Blech… black licorice… ugh.

A very fresh floral scent. Not at all dryer sheet which is usually what I get with the lighter floral blends. I can definitely pick out the honeysuckle as we used to have huge bushes of this in our backyard when I was growing up… but other than that I really and truly suck at picking out specific floral notes. I know what stargazer lily smells like too as this is my favorite flower but I’m not getting any of it in this blend.
-
At first whiff this is a musky pumpkin and nutmeg scent. I also think I smell a hint of ginger. After drydown it settles into a sweet, spicy, autumnal vanilla. It’s a really good blend just not quite “me”.
-
A very masculine scent I think. My skin seems to really amp up the vetiver in this one. So much so that I’m not getting any of the other notes. A slight tint of the leather from Whip but not so much anything else. (On this note, I had to finish my review as I accidentally rubbed my eye with a finger that I had previously used to apply an oil… yeah… stupid. Don’t worry, I’m not suing BPAL and my eye is fine now… lol. Except for a little burning and a full berating cussfest directed at myself while I was rinsing it out, I’ll be fine)

Gahck o_O… it’s the same acrid bitter cocoa scent from Underpants, Beaver Moon and Drink Me… now I have to add Gluttony to the list. I’m getting a very heavy toffee/hazelnut scent to this that is making me kind of sick because it reminds me of coffee and I despise coffee.

The bountiful, bright and vivacious prelude to the Harvest. A horde of wet, ripe fruits: green apple, apricot, blackberry, black cherry, black and red currants, cantaloupe, English pear, guava, lemon and lime, orange, mandarin orange, kiwi and mango, passion fruit, papaya, Georgia peach, raspberry, plum, tangerine, pomegranate and strawberry over a luminous blend of lunar oils. Wow, this is just so wonderfully fruity! I know, I know… DUH! You might say. But it’s the best I can come up with. At first I definitely get the more “tropical” type of fruits: mangos, guavas, passion fruits, papayas, etc. After the initial drydown some more of the “normal” fruits show up in peachy and citrusy goodness. This has become one of my definitive favorites and I’m so happy I managed to snag a bottle on eBay (albeit a bit more expensively than I’d hoped at $36 incl shipping)… from now on I will definitely be wanting to add more bottles to the beginnings of this horde but will stick to the forum for a better deal.

This immediately reminds me of Dragon’s Milk… it’s got that same pink sugary candy scent that you find in WalMart soap dispensers. Which isn’t bad… I like that scent! Very much a creamy sweet note full of fun and playfulness. I’ll probably be ordering either a small bottle of this or Dragon’s Milk.. perhaps this one over Dragon’s Milk though as this one seems to be slightly creamier and more “me” if that makes any sense.

Such yummy goodness!! I’m so happy that I managed to nab a bottle when the Carnivale Noirs were re-released for a bit. At first I get a lot of the fruit tart scent… very berry. There’s always a sugar scent wafting through back and forth though… perhaps the funnel cakes, perhaps the taffy? It could be either, or both maybe. All it’s missing is the scent of corndogs and it’d smell just like the carnivals and circuses I went to as a kid… but I’m not sure I’d want the corndogs in my Midway… lol.

Now I know this may sound a bit weird, but this smells like an adult goods store that I used to frequent… lol. It’s got that spicy scent they had over by the incense sticks but a sweetness like from one of the edible body lotions and massage oils. The dragon’s blood and clove are very spiky and musky in this blend. It *almost* feels like a very masculine perfume but I think my skin chemistry will let me pull it off for now. At very first whiff in the vial I got some of the cherry sweetness but on my skin, it’s completely muted and almost nonexistent. Not many of the spicier blends seem to call out to me, but this one does… I think I’ll be ordering a small bottle of this one < nods >.
-
Not *that’s* more like it!! MUCH better than Drink Me! Right off the bat I get some wonderful vanilla/currant cake mix. It’s foody but fruity… and still neither. It’s not at the top of my BPAL Must-have list but I’m definitely getting a bottle anyway…. Lol… wait. Does that put it at the top?
-
Hmm.. at first whiff this reminds me a lot of Underbed and Beaver Moon… not sure which note is making it seem like this though. It’s that dry bitter cocoa-type note… although I doubt there’s cocoa in this blend. Not quite what I expected… I was hoping for more of the fruits and sweetness. Instead I get the dry bitter foody scents that I tend to dislike.
-
Whoa!! A little heavy on the white pepper there! Wow, does my skin ever amp THAT one up!! This one seems very masculine to me… perhaps I’ll have DH try this one out as it might work better on him then me.
-
I get a strong patchouli from this but the mango tones it down a lot… which is good because not a *huge huge* fan of patchouli. This is such a fruity green scent. A bit “woodsy” because of the patchouli I think but very do-able for me.
-
Yup, violets and roses. Both of an equal magnitude and scent depth. As already stated about a million times, I love BPAL’s rose blends and this is no exception. I’ve never really thought of violet being all *that* great but this blend might be changing my mind. After drydown, this is a powdery rose on me and it’s absolutely delightful. Hmm… powder and roses…. I think I might end up ordering this combo in a dusting powder from one of my many e-tailers I have bookmarked… I think it’d be a lovely combo.

A chill, crystalline nocturnal perfume: moonflower with oriental poppy, fairy lily, orris and night gladiolus. Ooh.. just like the description I *do* get a “chilly” feel from this blend. It’s a cool floral scent just perfect for those not quite cold autumn nights. It smells a lot like some fancy schmancy expensive perfume I’ve sniffed in a perfume shop before but as it was wall to wall perfume I’d be hard pressed to have singled it out or be able to give a name. Oh, how I wish I could though. This is such a wonderful scent. I really suck at picking out floral notes so you’ll just have to be in awe of my amazing use of the description word “floral”.
