Serpents with Glittering Eyes and Forky Tongues
sunlitgarden replied to IronMollyBlack's topic in Discontinued Scents
This is a light and sparkly, fruity scent. I really like this. It's well blended, and I am having trouble picking out any individual notes, but it has a tartness to it (probably the currant and lemon.) This is the first scent I've tried with "green musk", and I think I like it, though I couldn't really pick it out. This has a pretty strong throw while it's fresh, but like many other fruity scents it doesn't last that long on me. EDIT: After a few more wears, I've come to really enjoy this and am putting it on my bottle list! -
Got as a frimp. The very first time I smelled this in the imp it gave me a headache, but I picked it up again and it didn't bother me, so maybe I was just having a weird day. Tweedledum is Yum! I love fruity scents, and tropical fruits like mango, so this one is great. It smells JUICY. It's delicious, both sweet and tart. I usually find patchouli overpowering but it's faint in the background. This reminds me of "Tropical Passionfruit", a discontinued Bath & Body Works scent which I also enjoyed. The only downside is it doesn't last very long on me.

Got this as a frimp. In the bottle: DIRT! Smells like soil after a rain. Wet: Dirt still, but with a sweetness. It kind of reminds me of compost, though not in a gross way... earthy with plant matter. As it dries more, it becomes spicy-floral-sweet with the dirt fading into the background. But still, the main thing it makes me think of is COMPOST. I don't like it enough to buy a bottle, and I don't think I'd wear it out, but it is definitely interesting. Edit: It turns out my girlfriend loves this one (she's partial to earthy scents). So, to her it goes!

Got this as a frimp from the lab. In the bottle: Citrusy goodness! The verbena's sharpness is softened by the lemongrass. It reminds me of lemony tea. Wet: LEMON CLEANING FLUID ATTACK! I'm disappointed, because I really liked it in the imp, but it went lemon pledge on me. Dry (after an hour or so): The lemon overload has faded, leaving a lemongrass/muskiness behind. I like this better than the wet stage, but not enough to keep wearing it. Sigh... I wanted to like this.

I really like this! I am amazed by how many different layers it has. In the bottle/wet: A bright and refreshing mix of citrus and florals. I really like the combination, the citrus and florals balance out well on my skin. Dry: After about 30 minutes or so, the sandalwood comes out more, along with vanilla. As more time passes the vanilla stands out more and more. I bought a bottle of this and it's a keeper.

I tried this at Sakura-con and liked it enough to buy a bottle. The first impression is fresh and floral, although I can't identify any individual notes, it eventually becomes salty and metallic and reminds me of the beach. EDITED after more wear: I am starting to wish I'd just waited and ordered an imp instead of getting a whole bottle. I have to go lightly with this one. I like the wet stage better than the dry, but even wet, if I put too much on it's a bit nausea-inducing. I can see myself wanting it for specific moods but I am thinking of swapping it.

I bought a bottle of this because I love chai spices so much. It basically smells like chai without the tea. I can't distinguish the individual spices but I really like it. I didn't notice much of a difference between the scent in the bottle or on my skin -- just spicy deliciousness. I do have to reapply this once or twice if I want it to last all day, but I find myself constantly sniffing my wrists. This is a cold-weather scent for me.

I am a BPAL newbie. I just purchased my first bottles at Sakura-con, and got some free samples thrown in. Snake Oil was one of them. In the imp: Very strong spices, but doesn't smell foody or sugary to me. I can't really smell the vanilla at all. It reminds me of some India-themed stores I've occasionally shopped in. Wet: About the same as in the bottle, spicy. It's not my favorite spice combination. Dry: After about 10 minutes, the spices back off and a smoky incense comes out. I can smell the vanilla now, and it helps mellow out the spices. After several hours: Vanilla is the main scent now, with the smokiness faintly there as well. This lasted the longest of the scents I've tried so far, and I was getting whiffs of vanilla throughout the day. I was impressed by how much this one changed, but I just don't think it's "me". I might try keeping it around & trying it again in a few months to see how it ages. **EDIT: About a week later, my girlfriend put some on and it smells AMAZING on her! :love!: It might be a chemistry issue, or else even the week's difference in age changed it? Regardless, even if it's not for me I like smelling it on her, it's really sexy!
