    Venom

Wet: Nice, surprisingly subtle. Hmm...forest...flowers...I'll have to wait for it to develop and see what happens. It seems a nice rich brown scent. 4 hours later: I love it! It is warm and rich, but still subtle. My skin, amplified. This could easily be a daily wear scent on me. A bit of a shape changer. I smell the warm furry resin scents, my son thought it had mint in it (the lime?), and my husband detected a talcum powder base. My daughter's friend pegged it as something she recognized, but couldn't place, so I guess it is similar to another perfume out there. In any case, I like it enough to get a bottle.

    Lampades

Wet: Oooh...neat. The cranberry drifts in and out of this warm red-brown haze. 1 hour: Loving this one. It has melded together, and I can't pick out any individual notes. A warm sweet incensy haze. 3 hours: Fading, but I can still catch it wafting. I get berry incense in the air, but a creamy spice on my wrist. Verdict: Very nice. I'll try it again a couple of times to decide whether or not to order a bottle of this one.

    Tombstone

Wet: Sassafras! And wood. 2 1/2 hours: A neat little blend. It has melded together now. The vanilla adds some warmth, the sassafras is a whisp of tang, and the woods make a strong earthy presence. I'd want to wear this one out horsebackriding. Tombstone indeed. I won't wear it regularly, but I think I'll hold on to the imp for when I want to kick around in cowboy boots. 7 Hours: Still there--a sweet cedar. Lovely.

    Arachne

Wet: A darker floral, with a subtle wood base. Nice. 1 Hour: A pretty enough floral, with a bit of a green bite. 2 Hours: Fading. Going more herbal. Verdict: Didn't last long on me. Pretty, but nothing spectacular. Being a weaver and spinner myself, I really wanted to love this one, but...*shrug*. I'll probably swap it off to a good home.

    Morocco

Wet: Warm wood and spice. Not too strong at first, then as it warms a tasty sweet-spicy scent starts to waft. 3 1/2 Hours later: This one has melded, and stayed subtle. I think it is gone, then I put my nose to my wrist and get a whiff of honey-gold warm spicy skin. I think I need to slather some more on to actually get a good feel for this one. Later verdict: Very nice. This would be a good subtle day wear scent, for when I want something extra but don't want to stand out. Keep and use the imp.

    Paris

Wet: Lavender, tempered with candy. 3 Hours: Well, it has gone from a slightly antiseptic phase, through lipstick?!, to a sharply sweet berry-like scent with a faint underlay of incense. None of which has been 'me'. *sigh* Swap it.

    Wings of Azrael

Wet: Floral, with a wood floor. After a moment the myrrh warms it up a touch. 3 Hours: The myrrh stood out for awhile, and now it has settled back into a floral. Starting to think about powder? Has been light, pretty. 6 Hours: Never took that step into powder, thankfully. A pretty floral. Nice for a summer day. It is still there, but I think it is time to re-apply just a bit. Verdict: Pretty, with nice staying power. Keep the imp. It is a pleasant one to sleep with.

    O

Wet: Warm, sweet, and golden thick. Honey and vanilla come through, with a bit of sweetness. I really hope this one doesn't go weird on me. Nummy. 1 Hour: Still nummy. I've been getting wafts of honey as I sit here. Nose to wrist, there is this thick yummy food-sweet smell, with an occasional hint of golden spice. Stay true, please! 2 Hours: A bit of spicyness sneaking through the honey now and again. Love it. 6 Hours: Still hanging in there as a faint sweetness. Time to reapply. Verdict: Bottle it and take it home!

    Wolfsbane

Wet: Wood, cleaning liquid, antiseptic. Not pretty, but very head clearing and focusing. Then a hint of the outdoors creeping in, and some dried rose petals. Interesting. I didn't think I'd like this, but it is kind of neat. 1 1/2 Hours: Rose. But not a fresh florist's rose--this is a cushion of fallen rose petals on a forest floor. Very organic. Nice. 4 1/2 Hours: Pretty faded now. Time to touch up. A dried rose that never went powdery. Maybe a hint of lemon now and again. Not at all what I expected, but very nice.

    Baron Samedi

A notorious voodoo priest, who eventually rose to become one of the funereal Guédés, alongside Baron Cimitère and Baron La Croix. He is a Guardian of the Crossroads: the pathways between our world and the realm of the spirits. As a Master of the Graveyard, he ensures that burial rites are performed with skill, and he helps ferry souls to the dark realm. In his honor, we have created this scent: our spin on traditional Bay Rum. Wet: I put on just a bit, because it smelled so strong. Wow. Yes, this is more masculine. I can get a strong almost wood tone. Rum? Clove? Nuts? Hmmm. Now here comes some spice, as it settles in. 4 Hours later: It went through a nice incensy clove phase, and has settled out with a bit of clean lime sweetness floating over the top. Much better than I feared putting it on. Tried it on Eric, and he got sneezes and a stuffy nose. Pleasant enough to maybe try again, but I don't think it is really me. Masculine, but the men in my life can't/don't want to play with it. Probably headed for the swap pile.

    Delight

Wet: Generic floral perfume 2 Hours: A pretty floral. I can smell the rose. Starting to head to powder. 5 Hours: Yup. Floral powder. Pretty, but not spectacular.

    Sudha Segara

Wet: Very light and sweet. Pretty, but hard to pick out, even when I put another dose on. Lemon? Maybe? No, now I smell the ginger coming out. Nice, but faint. 1 Hour: Still faintly there, light, sweet, and clean. 2 Hours: The same. This is genericly pleasant, but not enough to make up for how much I would have to put on to smell it. Swap.

    Xiuhtecuhtli

Wet: A very light citrus. I smell like orange juice and flowers. 1 Hour: Lovely. The orange settled in, the plumeria started peeking out, everything melded into each other, and something in there is soft and furry. I want to tuck a flower in my hair and run around barefoot. 2 Hours: Blended together beautifully, and still going strong. 4 Hours: Going strong, mostly floral now. 11 hours: It stayed at that lovely floral all day. I can still get a whiff of it now and again. Very long lasting. Two thumbs up. This is a bottle candidate.

    Vice

Wet: Some of the generic wet perfume scent, but under that is the holiday orange slices in dark chocolate. It immediately starts morphing together, and the orange comes out. Oh--here comes some cherry, too. Nice. 2 Hours: Melded together. The chocolate lays a rich warm base for the orange to meander through. I love this one. 4 Hours: Fading, but still absolutely lovely. I need a bottle of this!

    Maenad

Wet: Not sweet. Hard to pick out what I'm smelling. Oh wait, here's a bit of strawberry starting, but it is dark. Getting thicker and sweeter as it sinks into the skin. 1 Hour: Strawberry chapstick wafts as I move around. When I've got my nose to my wrist I can get the orange mixed in, deepened and sharpened by some of the other notes. The chapstick reminds me of some of the scents from my childhood, and the orange mix is more complex and nice. Neat. 2 Hours: Fading. The chapstick is mellowing down. Sweet, but not sickly sweet, with some depth. There is a kind of incense overlay. 3 Hours: Sweet faded incense. 6 Hours: Pretty much gone.

    Dana O'Shee

Wet: Dough. Like unbaked sweet rolls maybe? And some...playdoh? Maybe a hint of vanilla sneaking in there where it isn't supposed to be. 1 Hour: I smell like a bakery, before things go into the oven. A very domestic scent. However, I don't like the scent of milk, and I'm picking out some of that. And while there is some sugaryness coming on when I've got my nose to my wrist, when I'm just walking around I'm still getting a background of playdoh. Not convinced. 6 Hours: Gone. It never really hit a stage I cared for.

    Blood Amber

Wet: Nice. A little cinnamony? Sweet incense? It goes on smoothly, without that objectionable edge that freshly applied perfume can sometimes give. 1 Hour: Spicey on top with a sweet mellow foundation. So far so good. 2 Hours: Staying true, and blending nicely together. 7 hours: Pretty. Still reliably present if I stick my nose to my wrist, and I get a waft every now and then as I move. Verdict: I kept waiting for it to take that extra step into spectacular, but it didn't oblige. It ended in 'pretty'. Nice enough to keep the imp for certain. I like it.

    Crossroads

Wet: Earth and flowers, with a pretty big bite of astringent herbs. 1 Hour: This is still pretty sharp. I get a bit of sweetness underneath it, but it has made me sneeze a couple of times. I have some of the same biting nose-feel as when I breath Vick's Vapor Rub, without the sinus clearing effect. 2 Hours: There's some floral sweetness peeking in now, and here comes the dry dirt rising up, like someone scuffed up a pathway. Still that nose-crinkling sharpness. Oh--a hint of old incense. Not heavy, though. Yes, this smells like a crossroads now. But I don't think it smells like me. 4 Hours: Dry blowing dirt and flowers.

    Tintagel

According to legend, the birthplace of King Arthur. The scent of a castle's great hall in the midst of joyous feasting. Spicy mulled wine flowing through the musky heat, warm leather and bright clash of armor, the damp branches of Cornish hawthorn, blackthorn, juniper, English elm and bayberry, and the magical tingle of dragon's blood resin. Wet: A hit of wood/spice, with a waft of something sweet. Nice. I want more on than just a dab off the imp wand. 1 hour: Glowing wax candles--that must be the bayberry? Holiday garlands, mellow cinnamon, rustling velvet skirts, and a hint of red wine. Something to wear to SCA feasts. I like. 2 hours: Fading. Still hot wax and holiday spices, overlayed with a layer of...dust? 4 hours: Mellow candles, sweet spices, warm wood. I've got to get my nose a couple of inches from my wrist to smell it reliably, but I get a waft occasionally as I move. Verdict: Very nice. I'll keep the imp to try again, so I can see if the nose tickling dust stage was the oil or something I kicked up while sewing.

    Wicked

Wet: to my untutored nose, sort of sharp and generic perfumey. 1 Hour: The sharpness has mellowed some. Still a generic floral, kind of bath powdery with my nose right up to my wrist. Wafts fairly well. I get an occasional hint of things gone dark/off, but it mostly smells like something my Grandma Wold would have worn. Elegant, but conventional. I want to go dress in her mink and go to the opera. 2 Hours: Has mellowed some more. I can pick out the rose and the jasmine separately now. Still get some bath powder. Much nicer now. Still catch hints of something a bit off, a bit sharp. I wonder if that is the myrrh? Grown up and a bit old fashioned. 3 Hours: The sharp edge is gone, and i'm left with floral powder. I swear Grandma had something that smelled like this in her upstairs bathroom. It is triggering visual memories of that room. My husband smelled my wrist, and said, "Baby powder." 6 Hours: Still there, a pleasant soft floral powder. Verdict: Pleasant enough dried down, but not really me. Grandma would have loved it though.
