I don't know what is wrong with me, but all I can smell when I put this on is 'thrift store.' Like the kind of dusty, sneezy feeling I get in my nose when I go to Goodwill. It's exactly the smell of the inside of a Goodwill. And it's unpleasant. I'm just going to shove this one in the back of a dark closet and hope for the best. Maybe it just needs to age a while. Spicy incense blends are usually my jam, so I'm really surprised that this isn't working for me.

I was really hoping to like this one, because the idea of a vanilla/mandarin scent got me really excited. I was unsure about the tuberose, but I decided to go for it anyway, figuring I could swap it if it turned out to be too floral. Oh man. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The first sniff gave me that fluttery, get-me-to-the-fainting-couch feeling. I actually let out a weird "ugghhh" and my husband was like, "Oh? It's gross?" and I said "No, that was me having an involuntary orgasm, sorry." Yeah, I love it that much. I bought 3 backups. The vanilla and the mandarin start out on top for me, and I definitely agree with the comparisons to Dorian. The musk adds kind of a feral touch to it that I don't get with Dorian, and after a few minutes on my skin the tuberose pops out and it's a totally different animal. There's a tiny touch of bitter sharpness if you get really close to the skin, but further away, it's just a lovely creamy sweetness. Absolutely gorgeous.

Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?
harmonictremors replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
I have a few questions and I'm hoping someone here can calm my nerves before I go off & bug the Lab unnecessarily. I ordered a bottle of Pussy, a bottle of Dorian and an imp pack on 6/23, and the payment posted to my card on 6/29. I've been watching the Click n Ships thread to get an idea of when my order might ship, but I'm already seeing orders from a week after mine get sent out... I'm getting a little nervous because I'm moving in about 2 weeks and this is my first non-eBay Lab purchase. I know I should anticipate 14-21 days for order processing, and that's fine. But in a few days it will be a month since my order, and I've seen many people who ordered after me already receive their stuff. It's not an international order, I'm in Arizona. I couldn't find any indication on the forums or elsewhere that Pussy or Dorian were backordered. The CCNow payment definitely cleared. Is this normal? I know that only the Lab can see my order details and give me an idea of what's going on. I just don't want to bug them if it's totally normal for this sort of thing to happen and maybe I just need to be patient. :/ ETA: I got a CnS notification a few hours after posting this. w00t! -
Dorian was the first BPAL I tried. I learned pretty early on that I have to be careful with Dorian, because I can't think straight for the first hour or so after put it on. That's how amazing it is. In the bottle I get sweet vanilla tea with a tiny bite of lemon and lavender in the background. It's nearly the same on my skin, but I definitely amp the tea notes. 5 to 6 hours after first application, it fades out to a light vanilla. The notes in Dorian seem so simple, but the perfume perfectly evokes the kind of gorgeous debauchery and indulgence embodied by Dorian Gray. Wearing it makes me feel haughty and sexy and a little wicked. I've tried around 300 BPAL perfumes since my first romp with Dorian (that's a lot for me considering I rarely wore perfume before), but it's still my number one favorite, hands down.
