    Banshee Beat

On me, it's super smooth: a sugary, sweet vanilla and medicinal patchouli (I think someone said old-books sort of patchouli above, and that's spot on). I only have a vague idea of what hemp smells like, and I'm not getting any of that. After about 30 minutes, it's dried down into a syrupy vanilla with a hint of patchouli. Honestly, it reminds me a lot of Snake Oil, but without the musk. And like Snake Oil, it is strong stuff. But wow, is it amazing.
  2. According to the boyfriend, Perversion smells like honey and sex. So there's that. The Infernal Lover and (of course) Snake Oil are my go-to sexy scents, though, for when I want to feel outright sexy. But must admit, I get a really good response from the boyfriend whenever I wear super foody scents (Beaver'versary, other cakey scents). Those lean more toward the innocent/pseudo-innocent sexy spectrum, though.
  3. What order verification are you talking about? If you're looking at the CC Now date, that's what we tend to refer to as the harvest date. Basically, it means your order has been pulled from the CC Now queue for processing. It does *not* mean your order has been shipped. I don't know what sort of lag time there is between CC Now harvesting and shipping because I use PayPal for all of my purchases (it costs the Lab less money to accept PayPal orders than CC Now orders), but I do know that there is at least a few days (and I'm thinking more like a week) between the two events. In my experience, the time between harvesting and actually getting a CnS is usually about five days to a week.

    Lime!

Mr. Nancy is lime and cookies on me. Like key lime cookies.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Thirteen (13): April 2012. I love it! If you can't tell, those are flowers (someone with more knowledge of flowers could probably say what particular flowers they are) in the 13. Very appropriate!

    What Scent Is This?

It's definitely one of the Beaver Moons, though which one, I'm not sure. I've only ever tried the 2005 version, and that's straight cake on me. Beaver Moon 2005/Beaver'versary Beaver Moon 2007 Beaver Moon 2010 Beaver Moon 2011 I'm pretty sure that's all of them.

Bridal BPAL - BPAL for weddings?

I put on Silver Phoenix (Opalescent orris shimmering through a blend of mallow, moonflower, wild pear, iris, starwort, juniper, and mugwort) today and had the thought that it would be perfect to wear for a wedding (as the bride). It's so shimmery and soft. Really, most violet or orris scents conjure up the image of tulle for me, so maybe that's the connection.

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

Well, I know The Unicorn and Cottonmouth shared linden. I looked through, and I saw a few had ylang ylang or various types of sandalwood, so there could be some sort of specific sandalwood or ylang ylang component that's no longer available.

    The smell of night

The Night-Raven (Indigo musk, wild plum, rose geranium, benzoin, night-blooming jasmine, and patchouli) is the scent that really evokes this feeling for me. I really wish I could think of something non-floral for you, but I seem to be drawing a blank. :\

    Hungry Ghost Moon 2011

To me, this smells like a mixture of sugared grapefruit and Loosening of the Obi (the two share a lot of notes, but I think I'm mostly amping the vanilla and the rice wine). At times I pick up a sort of cookie scent, which I'm thinking may be the ginger candy. Overall, it's a soft scent that somehow manages to be both cool and warm at the same time. I really like it, and think it'll definitely join my rotation of spring and summer scents.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Oh, no it's not. I don't know why I was reading some of the other posts as saying that they were getting CA sales tax when they weren't in CA. Sorry about that! I should not be posting when I'm only half awake, haha.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Which shipping destination option are you choosing? I use the generic United States one, and I never get CA sales tax. Edited for clarity.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Note to self: DO NOT put Snake Oil on right after getting out of the shower. My neck...it burns.
  15. Random comparison: Lady Lilith (Climbing rose, vanilla cream, vanilla flower, white tea, mandarin, red and white musks, opium poppy, Parma violet, and opoponax) and Time Does Not Bring Relief (Parma violet and leather accord with beeswax, Egyptian musk, orange blossom, white tea, lavender, myrrh, and copal) are insanely similar on my skin. They both have Parma violet and white tea, so that could by why they're so similar. TDNBR is not quite as strongly floral as LL, though. I'd say it's creamier, which is weird, since LL is the one with the vanilla cream in it. Also, LL (obviously) lacks the awesome sweet leather drydown of TDNBR (though I seem to be one of the only people actually getting leather from it...I do amp leather, though, so take this as a definite YMMV comparison). Anyway, just a quick thought, in case anyone was searching for an alternative to TDNBR.

    Scent for Halloween?

    Miskatonic University for me today!
  17. If you can find some, definitely try Gypsy (from last summer's Metamorphosis update). It's sexy in an understated way and definitely a crowd-pleaser. Its notes are bourbon vanilla, Egyptian musk, tonka, white sugar, and cardamom.
  18. How would you compare and contrast Door and DNHoney? On a totally unrelated note, I think Tzadikim Nistarim smells and feels a lot like Winter Solstice Lunar Eclipse. I know this was directed at VioletFemme, but...on me, Door and DNHoney are pretty much identical. Both very "green" honeys, rather than sticky-sweet like O. YMMV, of course.

    Sugar Moon 2011

So pretty! I agree with hkhm: it's a beautiful dark floral. A sugared dark floral, if you will. I do get the strawberry and the plum nectar, but they're not overpowering at all. Overall, it kind of reminds me of a floral Sugar Skull 2005. Also, this violet musk? Absolutely amazing. ETA: The drydown, several hours later, is very similar (on me) to the drydown of Berry Moon.

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I've been wondering: Is there anything similar to the original Tiger Lily (Reviews here)? It's absolutely gorgeous on me, and all I have is one little imp.

    Eau de Ghoul

When I first read the description, I was terrified to try it. Absolutely terrified. But then I read the reviews, and they weren't that bad...so then I just got curious. Well! I finally tried it...and at first it smelled like straight-up Sprite. That went away, and now it's a seriously amazing ginger ale scent. I do get a mixture of the dirt, cinnamon, and the clove and maaaaybe some leather underneath the fizzy ginger ale...but, yeah. Mostly ginger ale. Awesome! I'll definitely be keeping this one around. It'll be great in warmer months!

    Black Phoenix

In the vial, it's maraschino cherries. And, at first, it's the same on the skin. But then...THEN. It turns into amber and jasmine of doom! And there's possibly some sort of rose in here? In any case, they all strangled the cherry. Needless to say, I had to scrub this one off pretty quickly. :\

    Ma'at V17

Ozone, dry cinnamon, and hot sand. Some resins of some sort, too. Frankincense perhaps? And maybe a little brown sugar? The ozone is similar to The Phoenix in Summer, but Ma'at v17 is much, much drier. I think I prefer TPIS for my ozone blend. Sad, because I had such high hopes for this one. ETA: After going back, it seems to have changed into some sort of sweet-spicy scent. Weird.

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

To me, The Coil was more cologny-clean and Ultraviolet was more shampoo-clean. They both did weird things on me, though, so I can't really comment much on the overall similarities.

Sage scents - White, Clary, and others

On me, the sagiest sages I've found are Mabon 2010 (blackberry wine and apple with hops, English ivy, rosemary, hazel, sage, chamomile, sweetgrass, oak bark, wild nuts, and myrrh), Drink Me (cherry-tart, custard, pine-apple, roast turkey, toffee, and hot buttered toast), and Bewitched (deep, luscious green and berry scents that evoke images of woodland witchcraft and the raw power of nature: blackberry, sage, green tea, wild berries and dark musk).
