The Lake of Solitude: a scent of introspection and introversion. Meditative white sandalwood with rosewood, Roman chamomile, white lavender, marjoram, Himalayan cedar, and oudh. Cedar, lavender, oudh. Beautifully, seamlessly blended. Wow. The sandalwood and marjoram provide a soft/sharp contrast for the bottom. The chamomile is light and soft and beautiful. I opened this late last night after a long day of travel and after one sniff, i needed to wear it to sleep, and it let me sleep soundly. I adore this and will treasure my bottle. Sorry this first review isnt more descriptive...i just wanted to.share my impression. π

Lemon Peel, Marshmallow & Orange Blossom
HerbGirl replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Finally gave this a real wear after decanting some for a friend yesterday and it is just so lovely. That lemon is perfect with the marshmallow. I don't get the orange blossom until a few minutes in, and I love that it doesn't take over. The marshmallow is chewy and this is very sweet. I love it. -
I mean, kitties! π When I smelled this in the bottle, Obsession crossed my mind and then I promptly forgot about it. I decided this would be my perfume to test for the day so I dabbed a bit on from the cap. I didn't really smell much, maybe some light amber? I went about my day. About an hour later I kept thinking I was smelling CK Obsession! I raised my hand to my nose. Nope, it couldn't be that. And then I realized how strong this oil is and, several hours later, how long it lasts. The amber is the most dominant note on me and it is dark. If I try really hard I can tell there's sandalwood there. I love saffron in perfumes but I'm not smelling it on its own here. This just arrived in the mail, to Anchorage, today. I am looking forward to seeing how this changes, settles and ages. It was my first Luper choice and I am so glad. π tl;dr The waft reminds me of Obsession or Anne Pliska, takes a while to bloom, lasts forever, very nice non powdery amber. π» Eta 02 Jan '23 this has calmed way down and now only reminds me of Anne Pliska. There's an almost salty component that I don't remember. Interesting. I still love it.

I haven't tested this yet (can't wait though!) but I had to comment about the DARKNESS in this bottle. π― That is some sludge!!! In the bottle, this smells exactly how I hoped it would - and reminds me of #occupywallstreet as I hoped it would. I will edit my review once I test this guy! Finally tested. Since my bottle is half sludge it is sticky and discolors my skin which makes me very sad. It smells nice but I can't deal with the sludge. Finally got a bottle without sludge and I love it!

This is not what I was expecting. I have trouble with 99.9% of anything with the word honey listed (honeycomb, honey, honey dust, etc.) and this? This is a stunning, beautiful, sweet, cozy stunner. I love it and cannot believe it works on me. I am so glad I got a decant.

Whoa. At first I get the cypress, oakmoss and a bit of blackberry. Very atmospheric, and lovely. After a few minutes the vegetal musk is present, supporting from beneath those notes. Then...that blackberry. It must be coupled with the tobacco like they were aging together for quite a long time because they are seamless together. The oakmoss doesn't take over and the cypress remains present. Wow. This is nothing like Gloomy Day but it is just as striking atmospherically. I love this so much. Actually, I bet this would layer well with Gloomy Day... End of ranting review π ETA The above review was from my decant. I just put some on from the bottle and I barely smell anything. I wish the bottle smelled like the decant.

I love this so much. I finally used up my imp and wanted to snag a bottle before this round went away and am so glad I did. It smells like a moonlit magical garden. I look forward to wearing this on the first night of each full moon. Beautiful.

Jean MiΓ©lo White musk, tobacco flower, white tea, Tunisian neroli, and blonde leather. Still no reviews? Ok, my mediocre one will have to do. This is beautiful. I love all of the notes here so I had to buy a bottle. Very well blended - the tobacco flower is wonderful here with the neroli! The white tea gives it a refreshing, almost delicate feel and the leather is not the star...just a nice bottom layer to meld with the white musk and ground this higher pitched blend. This reads as more of a Spring/Summer perfume to me, but for some reason I find myself planning to wear it for our first day of snow, whenever that may be. I really, really like this now and I'm looking forward to seeing how it ages. Another masterful blend! ETA: this is becoming stronger even with such a short amount of aging! Very refreshing and comforting at the same time.

Oooh! Slushy, snowy evergreen notes combined with frosty chocolate! I have reached for this one quite often this month and love it.

I have nothing helpful to say but I wanted to exclaim how much I love this perfume and there is nothing else like it. It is genius, expertly blended and perfect for the days surrounding the full moon. I love this so much.

I love this so much. It was an 11th hour purchase and I am so glad I took the chance. I thought, I have plenty of red musk and amber blends, this one probably isn't gonna wow me. Well, it did. I wonder, am I the only one who smells a component of Black Opal here? Seriously. If I huff, about 5 minutes after applying, I smell a similarity and it makes me smile. No, they aren't similar scents (obviously) but there's a fleeting moment of oooh I know that from somewhere. Anyhoo, this is gorgeous and I wasn't planning to review but wanted to add my 2 cents. π

I have worn this quite frequently since it was released and it is becoming an old friend. I smell all of the notes, in turn, as they are listed, which is pretty neat. The cedar doesn't amp, but when it warms up on my skin it turns just a bit musky and one of the green notes goes just a bit powdery and it ends up being quite beautiful. Very forest floor like without the bright conifer needles and mushrooms. I agree with everyone who has used the word mossy. π I really like this. The drydown reminds me of Theoi Nomioi but with moss instead of rock. They both have a musky drydown.

Honestly? I think this is the best oil I've ever smelled. I truly wish it was available for sale in imp or bottle form. Truly stunning. Polished woods (but not 'mahogany', I guess the teak) and gritty, beautiful, glorious patchouli. There's a lift to it as it dries which I can't describe other than a lift. This is fantastic. Eta: It is the clove. I rarely like clove, ever. It is the airy bit giving the blend that lift. I need more.

Early first test: this is beautiful. Usually with smoky blends they come on strong and settle with age, but there's barely any smoke, just a hint which seems to support this ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS Fir needle, which seems sweeter than I was expecting. If you are a conifer lover (as I am), this is worth trying. Right now (two days after arrival) it is an instant love for me. I actually hope it doesn't change because I love it. ETA: Well, the wispy smoke has turned into a champaca and the fir isn't as sweet as it initially was, but I still like it.

For anyone that has been curious, this does indeed have an icy, slushy evergreen note in addition to the not overly sweet marshmallow. Those notes are balanced nicely. This smells nothing like Snow White, at least none of the 6 vintages that I've worn! Eta: I love it π Eta2: I'm pretty sure the evergreen note is Spruce dominant. Eta3: I have a feeling the marshmallow will become stronger with some age. π

I was hoping that the honey would be quiet. This would have been amazing for me if the honey had been omitted. I need to just give up and remember that, no matter how amazing all of the other notes are, the stinky honey will ruin it every single time. π

There's honey in here. It isn't listed but I know that awful scent when I smell it. I'm not getting anything that smells like red musk to me. The berries are drowned out by sickly honey. The only reason I went for this bottle was because there was no honey listed. Disappointing.

This is very interesting. I just got it in the mail and it has travelled far, so this is just a first impression. This smells like a sweet cola frankincense with a bit of patchouli underneath. This isn't a smoky frankincense, it's a glowing frankincense. I wonder how much this will change as it settles? I would be happy if it stays exactly the way it is. This is the frankincense perfume of my dreams. Glorious. This just continues to bloom on my skin!!! Wow. Eta: 4 Dec 2021 - Totality has smoothed out even more with age but I agree with my review, simply gorgeous and perfect to wear during the Dark Moon/New Moon. Eta Nov 2022 - now I smell the fig! This has become one of my favorites. Eta Apr 2024 - wearing for the Solar Eclipse in Aries - this has quieted way down, throw is non existent. Beautiful glowing fig-frankincense-patchouli.

I just got my bottle today, and it needs time to settle from its crazy journey. In the bottle all I smell is cranberry but I guess it is actually pomegranate, lol. It is very juicy, sweet and prominent. I am looking forward to testing this over the next few days! On skin: all pomegranate! Velvety. After about 15 minutes I start to smell a bit of the amber. Definitely red velvet. Eta: The black currant and pomegranate are melding nicely and this is turning into a creamy blend. Interesting. I'm looking forward to trying this again soon. Eta 2 April 8th 2022: I have worn this so many times in the past year and it is just such a gorgeous, velvety, dark maroon scent. So rich and deep!

Strawberry marshmallow! I've been wearing this since June (ish?) and I just love it. It wasn't very strong when I first got it but it has become stronger with a few months of age and it is just gorgeous.

Every Day You Play With the Light of the Universe
HerbGirl replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Limited Editions
Creamy honeysuckle with just a hint of cherry blossom on the very edge of the scent. Beautiful. I'm actually thankful I don't smell any plum. I just realized this has amber cream. No wonder it reminded me of Golden Sunrise! -
Leather, Indigo Incense & Red Amber
HerbGirl replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
I will skin test this later but I wanted to say that the incense here reminds me very much of the incense in All Souls. I cannot wait to try this. -
I love this. It is very similar to Pliny's Phoenix (so, definitely Frankincense and a very nice one) but the cacao smooths any sharp or rough edges here and, instead of smelling it, the cacao is just supporting the best aspects of the cinnamon and frankincense. This is lovely.

The cardamom is most prominent with the gorgeous balsam peeking out just a bit and then all of that beauty is smothered by what must be the papyrus note. Ugh. The cardamom and balsam would have made an amazing duet but the watery papyrus just doesn't belong. Eh.

The fresh green leaf note + ambergris alone was not what I was hoping for here. I was so excited to smell vetiver, carrot seed and cardamom, saffron, tobacco or any of the notes listed with the leaves and I get none of that here. I don't think mine was properly blended before bottling. What a disappointment. Eta: The cinnamon, bay and ambergris have become most prominent now with a touch of leaves in the very beginning. This is one of the most masculine scents I have ever smelled. It is not masculine in a foresty way (I love those) but in a cologney way. I am missing the notes I was hoping for.
