In the imp: Rose. Real rose, like when I go outside and stick my nose in the flowers growing there. Occasionally I get a waft of something sweet, and sometimes something powdery. Wet: Rose and lychee soap. Dry: Rose and lychee soap. Verdict: I like rose. It is one of the florals that doesn't give me a headache, so while this is not something I would a) slather or grabbyhands for a bottle of... it is a wearable scent. It might also be fun to try layering it with others, since this is pretty much single note rose on me.

In the imp: Almondy goodness, but grounded. Not too sweet. Just pretty much perfect. Wet on skin: Sweetens up almost instantly. This isn't a bad thing. I can still smell the spiciness of the Snake Oil, but it is playing SO nicely with the sweet almond, and the mandarin is giving it all a juicy feel. Drydown: No.... no no no no no! Plastic. Powder. Dust. Why can't this have stayed like it was wet? I don't hate it, but I don't love it. Wet I was thinking to myself "Oh my gosh, WHY do I only have an imp... WHY didn't I discover this while it was still around?!" But wearing, I am happy with an imp. It will go in my "Wearable" case, but it is not a *grabbyhands* scent

In vial: Cool and creamy coconut, hint of floral. Wet on skin: Vanilla and coconut. Still that really tiny hint of floral, but it is behaving. As it is drying down, I get more of the floral and less of the coconut. The hazelnut is just king of hanging back, trying to ground it all out. Dry: The coconut and the iris are battling it out. Sometimes one is on the top, and sometimes the other is. Verdict: I like this coconut better than Tiki Princess. This still smells suntan-lotion-esque on me depending on how it is playing, but it is a much more mature suntan lotion. The coconut is far more true, more like fresh coconut meat rather than sugared coconut flakes. But, when the iris is winning the battle of the notes, this blend gives me a headache. So, while I am quite a fan of it, it might not get much wear for a while. Also, definitely a summer/warm weather blend. Not something I would wear in the winter, I don't think.

Burying Tree Coffee Fiend ANY of her handmade soaps. Will update with more soon. See my Notes of Win/Notes of Fail list. I am always willing to try new things!!! Notes are a good guideline for soap, but not the be all and end all. Soaps are more flexible since they aren't a constantly-used thing.

In fear of losing my post, I am starting a new one. You are meeting up with someone on a casual lunch/early afternoon thing. This person is someone you want to impress/look good for (for whatever reason, not necessarily romantic, and not necessarily for business either). What would you look like, given the contents of your wardrobe/etc? You sure you are ready for this? OK. Dark wash jeans. I have one or two pairs that make my legs/butt look amazing and don't require a belt. No muffin top either, which is a feat for me. Then I would probably elect to wear my short sleeve ivory v-neck top with some beading/crocheting and sparklies around the neck. Because it is fall, I would also throw a purple open-front cardigan over top. The one I have has a ruffle-y thing around the neck/front edge. Then, to give myself a decent shape, I throw a wide belt on over top of everything (high on the waist, around the ribcage). And a scarf in one of my many colors. Add a black trench and a pair of gold sparkly ballet flats and that is it for clothes. I would likely wear something for earrings, nice and dangly. Maybe a headband or a floppy toque if it is cold. Alternatively, I could do the same thing with my dark wash bluejean skirt and what I call my secretary shoes (beige t-strap stilettos). I can't wear heels much anymore though, so that would be if I was REALLY trying to impress them. Some makeup and some BPAL, and I would be good to go! You are to be let loose in a clothing store of your choice, to pick a full outfit, down to the shoes, the accessories, etc. and things would be altered to fit you if needed. What store would that be, and what would you look like? Pretty much anything on my Pinterest fashion board. I would LOVE to own a pair of knee high boots, but I can't because of my calves. You open a box from the post office to reveal the 3 things you want most right now. What are they? (caveats: size doesn't matter, but they have to be tangible/buyable). Oh gosh... only three? Knee-high boots that actually fit and are comfy, some lab fresh BPAL (I have never owned any lab fresh BPAL *sniffles*), and Johnny Depp. Oh... he's not available for purchase? I can't really think of anything realistic for the third thing. I am very frugal... so there are things I want, but are way too much money. We'll go with anything off my Amazon wishlist. What makes you laugh? Russell Peters (though we have all his DVDs), puppies, my husband (we are incredible goofs). I am very sarcastic and witty. The end of this month I'm going to Scarefest, the big horror and paranormal con in Kentucky. Here's the link to the site. If I were your witch, is there anything you would like from there (skull jewelry, art prints from an artist that catch your eye, etc), or anyone whose autograph or photo or such you would dig? Probably not... but if your gut says yes, go for it! Just nothing too creepy and gory. Are there any existing Weenies that you have your eye on, but haven't gotten around to getting? I'm sure there are. Let me tell you my "pants" story. Weenies are the one seasonal I have never owned. I have had Lupers, I have had Yules. Never Weenies. So this year I said to myself... "Myself, I want Weenies. We are going to find a halfie decant circle on LJ and we are going to buy some Weenies!" I saved until I had enough to buy a few, if not one of each. The day after the update happened, we wrote off our two year old car in a pretty bad accident. No one but me was hurt, and me not seriously (just got banged up a bit, going to physio for it and its really helping) which is REALLY GOOD. Things like cars can be replaced. People can't. And to top it off, the people in the other car weren't jerks at all. They didn't yell or scream, they were just calm and it was all good. So I haven't even looked at Weenies, TBH. Because my savings went towards a new car, and with Christmas coming up and now a witchee to spoil *rubs hands together gleefully* there is no point. Also, most of the decant circles are full. *shrug* So Weenies weren't meant to be this year But we did get a shiny new car. My new job is at a consignment store where we have all kinds of designer brands for very reasonable prices. Are there designer clothes/purses/sunglasses that you desire/love? (Give some indication as to your "style" as well. For example, do you like bohemian-style frocks in lavender? Crossbody purses in black? Sunglasses that are round and bug-like?) I don't think in designers, usually. It would be cool to own something genuine, but not necessary. I like scarves. pashmina-style scarves. And purses. But with purses, the less it has on the outside (fringe, sparkly bits, etc.) the better. I realize that we had a similar question in the ?aire, but I need you Witchee-s to list at least 5 items, each ranging $20 and under from Amazon.com or Walmart.com. My favorite movie from childhood, Lip gloss, I need this in my life., I want to read this, Lego Harry Potter. Because it is awesome. Do you have pierced ears? Yes, two holes in the lobe. But I also have very sensitive ears. I like danglies for the first holes, studs for the second. In the meantime, let me know what you like to do on the Internet to kill time. Flash games? What are your daily websites/blog visits, or favorite YouTube videos? Puppy videos, I go to PostSecret weekly, I visit Tumblr a lot, I lurk on Cafe World on my Facebook games account... and I play WoW. I have a subscription to Cute Overload as well, so that gets me through the e-mail portion. LOLcats, CakeWrecks, Goodreads, the local paper (I like to be informed), Netflix (on my Wii, but it is still a website, right?)... Are you interested in audiobooks? If so, any specific titles? I've never really gotten into audiobooks. I find them hard to stay engaged in, and I fall asleep a lot with reading... and yeah. Bar soaps with some scrubby bits, yes or no? Sure? I like liquid soap too Do you need any small electronic gadgets like flash drives and the like? Flash drives are awesome. Lip balm - tube or tin? Prefer tube. Would you like to receive a journal or sketchbook? How about other pretty paper goods like post-its, notepads, bookmarks, letter paper/envelopes? Yes to all but sketchbooks. I don't sketch. I like paper goods. They are awesome. Would you like a pair of knitted socks? Sure! Machine washable would be great. Do you have any use for knitted dishcloths, facecloths, etc, especially if they were fandom related? Sure! Do you subscribe to any sample boxes, and if so, which ones? Would you like to receive some samples? (perfume, eco/"green," skin care, hair, music downloads, cosmetics, soap...) Never heard of these... but it seems cool. Not something I could maintain myself (monetarily) though, tbh. Also it would have to be a Canadian version. (Disability = poor vanillabean.) Nudes? No, thanks. I don't have a problem with them per se (if they are tasteful), but I have family who does, and having them over would be awkward. Paintbox Soapworks: Interested in anything from her? Nothing specifically, but I wouldn't say no to trying stuff out ThinkGeek: anything interesting to you on there? ALL THE THINGS! I have a wishlist, but I don't exactly know how to link it... What's one thing you want, right now, that you're having difficulty finding? More time! Other than that... sugar free items sweetened with stevia. (No aspartame, sucralose, maltitol, etc.) Other E-tailers? Nothing I am DYING to try, though I am always open to new things. I tried some Villainess recently, and I don't know if it is the carrier oil or the age of the samples I have, but I smelled like Crisco. Would like to try her soaps, though. What do I do when I am sick/cranky? I am always sick, but when it gets worse (when I have a cold or something) I am the biggest suck ever. I can't take a lot of medicines for common things because of all the things I am on for my chronic stuff. So colds, flu, etc. all get to wreak havoc on me. I drink tea, eat soup, take baths (which I can generally only stand for 10 minutes before I am too hot, lol) and snuggle up on the couch with blankets. Then I break out the kids' movies. The two I have from my childhood are The Jetsons Movie and The Chipmunk Adventure. I watch those two, Ferngully if I can find it on TV or to rent. Disney movies, etc. This is also what I do if I have a bad fibro/colitis day. I hole myself up in my room and watch kids' movies. When I am cranky or sad, I usually smash pixel things on the Wii or the computer. It can be very therapeutic *sagenod*. A lot of the time I will read as well when I am either sick or cranky. And sleep. Who here is going to be picking up JK Rowling's new book on Thursday? I want to read it, but then I also want to read a lot of things. I won't be waiting in line and it will likely be one I wait a while for. Favorite and least favorite baked goods? No homemade baked goods, please. (But, for informations' sake... Pie is my least favorite. Cupcakes/Cake are my favorite. Cookies and brownies fall somewhere in the middle.) What size T-Shirt do you wear (standard AND babydoll)? Standard: M-L Babydoll: L-XL I found a fantastic little shop while traveling that had unusual jellies and jams. Would you be interested in trying something like Georgia Moonshine Jelly or TOE Jam (each letter stands for some kind of fruit, I don't remember which ones) or something similar? How about homemade jam in general? Nothing with liquor please, but other than that, sure! Would you be interested in homemade herbal remedies and tinctures? I have so many health problems, and I have so many medicines I have to take... I am going to have to say no, thank you. Mostly to avoid unwanted interactions. Owls? Neutral. Do any of Villainness' Soap Box exclusive scents interest you, especially any of the Smooches/Whippeds? I am open, but nothing specific. To be honest, though, I haven't looked. Puddin' just put a shitton of old Lunacy shirts on the BPTP Etsy! Any ones interest you? Maybe? Witchee, do you want anything from the Haunt update coming up on 10/3? I know it might be too early to say, but if you could look at the preview on the night of 10/2 and let me know if you want anything... Never tried Haunt. Do you use or would like to try loose eyeshadow pigments? Sure! Is there anything you might want from the latest update (Lab or TP)? ALL THE THINGS! What's a new company to you that you most want to try a product from or what would be a new product to you that you most want to try (make-up, perfume, or bath/body)? Hmm... There is a cream called Fat Girl Slim I am intrigued with. And Korres makes a face line for oily but dehydrated skin. If you like necklaces, what are some symbols or images that you would love to have a necklace depict? (ex. spiders, skulls, hearts...?) I am pretty open. Spiders would freak my hubby out. I like simple stones, I like those circles with words on them, I like lockets. I saw a wishbone necklace that really intrigued me super lots.

Wishlists & Other Links (Updated for Summer 13)
vanillabean posted a blog entry in vanillabean's Blog
**PLEASE NOTE** These are not any sort of indication of "spend spend spend" for me. I LOVE homemade gifts... art cards, knitted assorteds (scarves, hand warmers, stuffed animals, etc). This is merely to help you get an idea for me as a person... With regards to food on my Amazon WL... please disregard quantities altogether. These are some of my favorite things/things that look interesting and I can't get here. Amazon Wishlist: http://amzn.com/w/OA0BDTY4B5Y2 Etsy Wishlist: http://www.etsy.com/people/erincathryn/favorites BPAL Wishlist: http://horizontal-rain.livejournal.com/25375.html BPAL oils I own: http://horizontal-rain.livejournal.com/25093.html Notes of Win/Fail: http://horizontal-rain.livejournal.com/25826.html Other Perfumes Wishlist: http://horizontal-rain.livejournal.com/28267.html Books I own: Will be updated, but there are books on my amazon wishlist that I for sure DON'T own. On tumblr: http://floriessence.tumblr.com On Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/erincathryn/ My other blog: http://writtenpermission.wordpress.com On Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/erincathryn A clarification note. My Amazon wishlist includes gluten-free, sugar-free and dairy-free cookbooks. This is something I am hoping to do in the future, not something I am currently trying to do... so pleast note the "No artificial sweetener" request in my questionnaire trumps all. I am allergic to a lot of them <3 Please no used cosmetics. <3 -
Do you like s'mores and s'mores-flavored things? I haven't had real s'mores in forever, but I do like them. One of the best things about getting a charcoal barbecue was being able to roast marshmallows on it. Though I usually don't have the patience for s'mores and just roast marshmallows. What's the neatest freebie you've gotten? It can be cool or thoughtful or just totally unexpected, and not limited to BPALdom. Hmm. Well I won a trip to Jamaica this past year, and that was pretty cool and unexpected. But in the way of something someone gave to me... I did a Christmas card swap with my WoW guild this past year. I put that I liked sparkly things on the questionnaire. A guildie threw a handful of glitter in with my card. It was a PAIN IN THE BUTT to clean up, and I don't really wish random handfuls of glitter thrown in with things on anyone, but it was also super sweet that she did that for me and my love of sparkly things. When I asked if it was a super sparkly card or if she had indeed thrown in glitter, she responded with a "I did NOT throw in a handful of glitter. I carefully selected every piece!" Would you enjoy receiving cute but useful items like colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets, or bento supplies? (boxes, chopsticks, accessories, etc?) What about things like spice mixes (homemade, or Penzey's for example) Yes to everything but homemade spice blends. Since this is my first year doing this, I am a little squicky about homemade food things. No offense to anyone, I know you are probably NOT going to poison my husband and I, but it is a concern. Also, international import might be tricky with it. So we will save the trouble. But yes to everything else. Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do you wear? Yes. Yes yes yes! I don't wear them for sleeping, only lounging, but I LOVE them. I don't know what size I would be. Anywhere from a medium to an XL. (I can fit into a 12-16 depending on the cut and style of pants) What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white, dark, etc? I am not a fan of white chocolate, nor am I a fan of super dark chocolate. I like chocolate filled with strawberry or raspberry the best. Coconut, almonds, hazlenut, chili, and rice crisps are all very good. I like some mint chocolate. All in all, chocolate is a good thing. I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? One of everything twice, please. We don't have any of these stores in Canada, so anything unique or cool would be fun to get. But that also means I don't know specifically what they carry. Are home made foods acceptable or does the idea of eating strange mailed food disturb you? As this is my first year, I am a little squicky about eating homemade foods. Also I am concerned about international import on them. So we will go with no thank you for this round. I am sure your brownies, cookies and cupcakes are FANTASTIC. I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! Scrapbooking paper, probably a book (potentially of the logic/sudoku variety), some pens (NEVER PENCILS), a coil bound notebook, and a box of chai tea. What kind of cuisines do you like? (I mentioned this in my ?aire but curious what my witch may like)And, what are your favorite restaurants? Italian, Filipino, American, Canadian, Chinese, Japanese (omnom SUSHI), Indian, Mexican (Tex-mex), Ukranian. Restaurants include Five Guys, sushi (all local, no chains), Pancake House (Canada's IHOP)... I don't really eat at chains that much. Though I don't live far from Grand Forks, ND. I LOVE Texas Roadhouse, Ruby Tuesday, CherryBerry, Coldstone, Jimmy John's, Culver's, and IHOP. Do you have an eReader and if so which one? Sony PRS-T1. Will read ePUB books ONLY, but can convert Kindle books without DRM. Do you like candles, or tart burners, or something? If so, what's your favorite scent to burn? Candles are good. Also like incense. Vanilla is always a winner. Brown sugar, cinnamon, all of the warmer/fall scents. Berries and fruit scents are generally safe as well. There is one linen candle at Michaels that doesn't give me a headache. Most florals will cause headaches or sneezes if they are too strong, though I love TRUE lilac and rose scents. I'm from Canada - is there anything specifically a witchee might like that is only available here? If there is something specific to your province, cool. But I am also from Canada, so I can get maple candy and poutine to my heart's content. And Kinder Surprises. What are your "fandoms" and would you like a t-shirt from TeeFury if an appropriate one came up? Buffy the Vampire Slayer, World of Warcraft (mostly Alliance, though I play both), Harry Potter, BPAL, Legend of Zelda (haven't played anything since Majora's Mask), DDR, general gamer geekdom, general reading geekdom, DISNEY Marzipan? You know, I don't think I have ever had it. Would you be interested in washable/reusable muslin “paper” towels (basically muslin squares hemmed around the edge)? Maybe in some sort of box to put on your kitchen or bathroom counter? Sure! I like reducing my carbon footprint. Do you drink alcohol and if so, would you be OK with your witch sending you homemade infused vodka? Also, does your state allow alcohol to be shipped through the mail (for example, PA doesn't). No thank you, I don't drink. If you get me (or a fellow Aussie, if there are any playing this round) as a witch or witch's minion, would you like to try some Australian specialties, such as TimTams (delicious chocolately cookies), Caramello Koalas (koala shaped chocolates filled with gloopy caramel), Australian native spices or anything like that? Yes!!! I love trying new things that I can't get here!!! Just no Vegemite. If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particular type of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? Being where I am in Canada, it gets cold in the winter. So I am up for anything knit/crochet. Hats, mitts, socks, scarves, wraps, arm warmers, leg warmers, etc. Probably not a cowl or fingerless gloves though. <3 Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that would really appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haul so they don't feel left out? My husband will be likely sharing most of what I get, and my dog wouldn't say no to some treats, but they have to be soft because he has very few teeth left. Adopt a bat in my name? Cute idea! I like animals! Some of your favorite artists? Classic and modern? Ooh, toughie. I like Wassily Kandinsky, Van Gogh (blue period mostly...), Jackson Pollock, Ansel Adams... But I am not a collector or anything. If you could have an image or certain subject painted for you on any type of "canvas" (on a box, on paper, on a canvas, and so on) - could you point your witch to some of these images? Something smaller would be preferred, as we don't have a lot of space in our apartment. But I like trees, abstracts, night scenes, lakes or rivers, etc. Anything calm and peaceful. Is there a GC scent that's been on your list for ages but keeps falling off the bottom of your order because of the LEs? I haven't bought BPAL in so long. I have an ammo case full of un-tried imps thanks to the immense generosity of forumites, decant circles and a few sales. I really want to try UGH as an oil, though. I have a chronic pain disorder, and I have a decant of the massage oil that seemed to help a bit. On the same note, GRR is a high priority, because I get headaches often. I've been getting into indie nail polish brands recently. What's your favorite indie brand of nail polish? Or what's your favorite mainstream brand of nail polish? Or are you not big on polish? You know, I love nail polish, but I don't wear it very often. I find doing my own nails often results in a messy mess of messiness. They don't dry properly, they chip really quickly, etc. I usually leave nail polish until I get pedicures done. I wouldn't say no to nail polish (just not tons of it) but I fear it might go largely un-worn. Stuffed things: yea or nay? Big yay! Mix-in-a-jar? How to you feel about cookie or cake or soup mixes that come in jars and you just add, like, an egg or water or what have you? No, thank you I live near this very cool Retro store (you can order online too) - are there things from it that would make you squee if your witch sent them? Um. In a word? YES! I love retro things. They are awesome. I have Silly Putty on my wishlist from ThinkGeek. And I tend to go to PinupGirl Clothing to ogle the style. So yeah. Would you be interested in beer, wine, or other specialty beverages from your Witch's area? Nothing alcoholic please, but things like (non-homemade) ciders or juices would be welcome! Are there any crafts/skills you've wanted to learn but haven't gotten around to? And if so, would you be interested in supplies and tutorials? Knitting and crocheting are big ones. I have a scarf that is half done becuase I know how to knit and purl, but I don't know how to do anything "fancy". Like cast off. I'd also love to learn to sew. Who here would be happy to get a lil' sumthin sumthin from Adagio Teas? Ooooh! Me! Pick me! I don't generally go for fruity or flowery teas, and tend more towards the spicier teas (chai, vanilla, etc.) BUT! I am willing to try anything!! I prefer caffeine-free options (Rooibos, decaf black, etc.) Do you Ravelry? And if so, what's your handle over there? Would you be interested in gift patterns from your queue? I do not. Who likes Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses? THIS IS A THING?! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS WAS A THING?! What does your kitchen look like? Colors/style? We are in an apartment, so our kitchen is made of fail right now. We are looking at getting a house in the near-ish future, though. Our dishes are white. Witchee, what are your favorite quotes? "When people don't express themselves, they die one piece at a time." - Laurie Halse Anderson "Without music, life would be a mistake." - Friedrich Nietzsche Put your iPod/MP3 player/what-have-you on random and list the first 10 songs it plays! Que Sera Sera - Sly and the Family Stone Alone - Glee Version Money Honey - State of Shock Put Your Records On - Corinne Bailey Rae Portions of Foxes - Rilo Kiley Oh! - Eric Hutchinson Love You I Do - Dreamgirls (Movie Soundtrack) Quando Quando Quando - Michael Buble and Nelly Furtado Satellite - A cappella cover of the DMB song Wannabe - Spice Girls What's one random thing you really like and one random thing you really dislike? Like: Thunder. LOVE THUNDER. And storms in general. Dislike: Artificial blueberry. I can't stand the scent or the taste of anything artificially meant to be blueberry. I love real blueberries. But blueberry tea, blueberry candles, blueberry yogurt... it all makes me feel sick. Are there any herbs that you haven't been able to lay hands on that I could send you? There's an herbal shop I really like here in NYC called Flower Power that has quite a wide selection. Anything cool for cooking. Though nothing too tricky to use. (Like, Fugu tricky.) The Henna looks cool too (lighter colors, I am pretty pale). If there are no "witchy" shops near you, is there anything I can pick up for you from Enchantments? I listed myself as Agnostic in my questionnaire, but I was a practising Wiccan for many years. In a lot of ways I still identify with the religion in my Agnosticism... if that makes any sense. I used to have a quartz power stone. It was lovely, clear except for the tip which was dark purple. I used it as a kind of focusing point when I was feeling scattered or negative. One day, it just broke. Right in half. I keep meaning to get another one, but I can't find a metaphysical store that doesn't give me bad vibes. Nothing worse than a focusing stone from a negative place >.< I would also be open to stones that aid in helping chronic illness (pain, inflammation, circulation), wealth (can always use more of that), and focus. Hey Witchee! I want to send you a delivery. It could be cupcakes from a local bakery, it could be a singing hugging bear-a-gram, it could be a bouquet of flowers. But it will be something that you need to be there to receive. a) Are you OK with "special deliveries"? *waggles eyebrows* Is the address in your questionnaire the best place to reach you for said deliveries? c) If the delivery requires a phone number (as say, some florists do) would you be OK with that information being tracked down by your Witch or asked of you anonymously? a) Sure! Probably. c) Would have to be asked for anonymously, as my number is a cell. What are some things you are OK with receiving gently used or homemade, and some things you absolutely do not want if they are gently used or homemade? Homemade: I am good with anything but food or B&B products. Gently Used: books, t-shirts, jewelery (no earrings), scarves, DVDs, CDs are all A-OK gently used (And BPAL of course) I live near a Mast General Store. It has lots of vintage-y toys, southern foods (jams, jellies, spices) and vintage candy. Is there anything I can get for you? Sure! I am not a huge fan of taffy or black licorice, though. But jams and jellies? YUM! Do you have any Fall or Halloween traditions? Not really. Since we moved into the apartment, we don't get kids trick or treating, and even when we house-sit for mom and dad, we don't get many kids. I like carving the pumpkin and roasting the pumpkin seeds. Also, horror movies. Ninjas or Pirates? Ninja pirates. Or Pirate ninjas. In other words, both have their merits. I have an extra room spray and 2 extra bath oils (one Cephalopod, one Exhibit Hall Fatigue) from Dragon*Con - would anybody like a decant? Sure? I haven't looked up the scent notes, but as long as they aren't scents of death for me, decants are AWESOME SAUCE. I know it is totally the wrong season (for most of us), but do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you like to grow? NB: Sending seeds through the mail can be tricky, especially internationally. So please keep this in mind. I don't have space to garden right now But if seeds would keep or they were for something I could grow inside without too much fuss (herbs, chia pet, etc) that would be cool I'm about to be near a Lush store next week, is there anything you might like from there? I love Lush, but I am spoiled and have two in my city. <3 Songs that you keep meaning to buy but never get round to it? I don't really buy single songs, and tend to go for whole albums instead. Nothing is jumping out at me right now, but I am always open to listening to new things. Movies that you love but forgot to put in your questionaire? Tons. I walked through a cheapy movie section the other day and went OMG a bajillion times. Pan's Labyrinth, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Brave Little Toaster (I like kid's movies... OK?), Harry Potter, Space Jam, Shawshank Redemption, Ferngully, Corpse Bride, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (both versions), Slumdog Millionaire... I could go on. I am not necessarily fangirling over the movies (i.e. I don't need t-shirts or other stuff), but they are ones I love and would watch over and over again. Name one movie you keep meaning to buy, but just never get around to getting? Any of the above. Any favorite Bath & Body Works scents/products? I don't like anything super floral. The pumpkin one is nice. I don't use a lot of B&BW. Haus of Gloi is offering custom perfumes - would you like one? What would your ideal blend be? Ooh, cool. At first glance... Almond, Vanilla, Cake and Coffee. Or Bergamot, Sandalwood, Lavender and Ylang Ylang. I don't know what order to blend them in though. Any Bath, Body or nutritional type items you would love to try from a Natural and Organic food store (similar to Whole Foods) that you don't buy because they are a bit too pricey? I can't think of anything off the top of my head. Are there any if MeiLin's books (e-book or print) you'd be interested in? I have Lovers and Beloveds in ePUB, so the sequel to that would be awesome (in either epub or print) or Mage Toy looked interesting too! Witchee, will you be gone from your normal mailing address at any point during the round? Nope. The address I gave is actually my parents' because mail tends to walk away from my apartment. I also am at that address through the day most days, since I work for my parents :3 so it worked out. Are you a Disney fan or does even thinking about Disney make your head hurt? If you're into Disney, would you like something from the Happiest Place on Earth ? ALL THE THINGS DISNEY. I LOVE DISNEY! I have never been to Disneyland/world (I don't know which is which, or if they are both the happiest place on earth) and would love a souvenir! Dear witchee, would you, could you use an electric candle warmer? I have one, and it is fantastic. It is also in a box somewhere... or maybe my mom stole it. But yes. They are AMAZING. Witchee, would you like it if I made you a "mix tape" of songs that I think you might like? And if so, would you prefer mp3 or CD format? That would be awesome! Either format works Do you lust after some new socks/tights? Yes, yes and yes. I love socks and tights and legwarmers. I would sell my soul for tights that stay opaque and don't look horrible on me due to me being plus size and having large calves. Socks are good as well, though its funny... I prefer being barefoot if at all possible. But I love socks. I have drawers of them. Yes. Plural. Ankle socks are my every day go-to, and I would love a pair of big, thick woolies to wear in the winter. Are you a gamer (of any sort - video, casual, tabletop) and are there any games you want? YES. I have some things on my Amazon WL, but I love new fun little games. Emphasis on being fun for two people so hubs and I can play just the two of us. I play World of Warcraft pretty intensively, and you can get pets and things like that. I would recommend asking me anonymously for a list of what I have if gifting me things for WoW is something you want to do. Magic The Gathering and WoW TCG are both TCGs I would love to get more into. I have NONE. I am just getting into dice games. And I like dice. Would you be interested in BPTP CANDY? There is BPTP candy?! Sure!!! Do you like coffee? If so, what kinds? Flavored, fancy, basic? Beans or ground? I don't drink coffee much, but I like flavored coffee when I do. Ground please, and it has to be decaf... or I get very very ill. Would a Starbucks gift card make you happy or do you prefer your local place? It would make me very happy. They have many non-caffeinated things for my enjoyment. CUSTOM-Made Pottery?? yea or nay? coffee mugs, rustic or more elegant? a set of bowls? soap dish? bird feeder? something alltogether different? and lastly, good colors for glazes...? I would love a handmade mug or bowl. Nothing bigger or that requires hanging, because I have no space, sadly. I like blues, purples, and reds for glaze Think jewel tones Do you have a forum buddy? Someone who knows you and/or your tastes well enough to answer questions on your behalf? Not really But I hope I have answered my questions thoroughly! And my Amazon WL is chock full of ideas. If you are on Livejournal, would you appreciate LJ stuff like paid time, custom userheads, stuff like that? If you are NOT on LJ but are on other sites that have similar paid-for services (Flickr, for example?) would you, and what are those sites/etc? I have my LJ, and while more userpic slots would be awesome, I don't use it much right now. I don't know if you can gift things on Wordpress. *checks* I'd love to be able to have custom design on my Wordpress blog, but it doesn't look like something that can be gifted. If you are into tarot, what is your favorite card? Not into Tarot, thanks Would you like your own set of handmade rune stones or worry stones? Rune stones, no. Worry stones, yes! But I might also need instructions on how to use them properly. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cider, or none of the above? All of the above! In order of preference: Tea, hot chocolate, cider, coffee. I need decaf coffee and prefer decaf tea. Gum, hard candy, soft candy, or none of the above? I am a gum person, and I prefer cinnamon above all others. I like Werther's hard candies. And I like gummie bears. No taffy or licorice. Loose tea or tea bags? Do you need anything for your loose tea? (Filters, presses, etc.) I like both. I have a special mug for my loose tea, but it is kind of a pain to wash since I like milk and sugar... so if you know of something less of a pain... hit me with it! Zombies; Yay or Nay? Yay I like Zombies. If you have cats, do they like catnip toys? If you have doggies, would they like a super-reinforced canvas toy with a squeaker in it? My dog has very few teeth left, so I don't know if super-reinforced canvas would be a good idea... If you have kids, what are they into? No kids How do you feel about wearable knitted lace? Shawls, wraps, and the like? Hmm, it looks like it has the potential to be something I would either really love or really... not love. I notice that our lovely Greenwoodtree is able to do chart readings and/or forecasts at a very reasonable rate. Is this something you would want? Yes, this looks awesome! Candy Corn? No thanks. I live in Japan. Anything you would be interested in from there? Origami paper! And really, anything else cute (accessories, stationery, things) but origami paper is what I immediately went *grabby hands* for.

Older. -If I gave you a toy gun with flashing lights, would you hide and start shooting people from around corners OR would you thank me on the IGI thread and then quietly donate it (a niece, Oxfam, Goodwill, wherever)? (there are no wrong answers for this, so don't be afraid to answer honestly) I would proudly stand in the open with that baby a-waving, shooting everything in sight. Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
vanillabean replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
I just tried Veronica from the set of Courtesans decants I got forever ago. Finally a floral that doesn't trigger an immediate headache!! Is there something similar to this in the GC? -
Sleeping Nymphs and Satyrs was very woodsy/cologny on me. It lists rose and vanilla (twice), and I normally amp vanilla. But I got a really deep woodsy scent from it.
-
Congrats! I don't like all vanillas but I do love Dorian so I'm hoping our tastes are somewhat similar I think some of my favorite summer scents would appeal to you: Lady Una (if blackberry works on you), Tattered Lace, Black Lace (the appley version is pretty rather than overtly sultry), Autumn Moon of the Mirror Stand (reviews are very mixed but I love it). I'm also one of those who likes Snow White as a bridal scent. Though it smells a bit like a Pina Colada on me, I still think it gives off a lovely cool confident vibe & your chemistry may be better with it than mine. Thanks! Lady Una, Tattered Lace, and Black Lace are all on my to-try list. Autumn Moon looks interesting, but I tend to amp boozy scents. I don't want to smell drunk... I have some Snow White... 2011 I think (maybe 2010). I should pull it out and give it a whirl. You might be really liking Blossoms in Springtime, it's a very lush vanilla scent, and that isn't a bad name. I suggest you wear Copulating Mice, just tell your MIL "Oh thank you! It's Mice F**ing!" could you imagine.... Blossoms sounds amazing. Also LOL I think I would die. I also have an imp here somewhere of one of the Vulva scents (burning, iirc). "My, you smell lovely. What is that perfume?" "Oh, its just my Burning Vulva."
-
I am getting married in June (like, a month away) and am trying to find my perfect scent. I also want to find one that I don't feel embarassed saying the name of. i.e. I love Copulating Mice, but if my fiance's mother asked me what I was wearing, I would have a fit. Some of my go-to scents: - Tamora - Dorian - The Mouse's Long and Sad Tale - Harlequin and Columbine I don't want anything too terribly heavy, more of a... "My, you smell lovely!" type thing. Maybe something more on the floral fruity side (but not to floral, I get a headache from say, The Unicorn). I love vanilla. LOVE. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE.

This is pretty much everything I hoped Tombstone would be. I hated Tombstone though, because I amped the cedar and I smelled like a walk-in-closet. This also gives me a great scent memory as it reminds me of my grandpa. Obviously my grandpa smelled amazing! I find it quite masculine, and probably won't wear it a whole lot. But it is a very nice scent. I think it would smell amaaaazing on my fiance. (Tombstone sure did!)

Peach and peach blossom with rose geranium, red currant, pink musk, and gardenia. In the vial: Smells like what I think peach scented laundry soap would smell like. Very clean and light with a hint of tartness. I am getting mostly peach blossom though, not any super sweet fruity notes yet. Wet: Much the same as in the vial. A little more floral coming out. Drydown: The floral is still the most prominent note. Wearing: I see you PEACH! And you are MARVELOUS! And SWEET! Not fake peach, but like just pulling one off the tree and biting into it with juice running down your chin. But that peach tree is in the middle of a ZILLION soft flowers. Later: The musk definitely makes an appearance, and just like that, the florals are grounded. Overall impression: Good throw without being too overpowering. More floral than I usually like, but not headache-inducing-ly so. Definite keeper, and if a partial bottle came into my possession I wouldn't be upset.
-
In the imp: Red, sticky and sweet. Almost cough syrup, but also similar to black cherry pop. On: Uh... its gone? I put it on and all I can smell is the tiniest faintest breath of wood (smells like cedar to my nose, but its probably mahogany). And I only get that with my nose like, touching my wrist. Well, boo.
-
This is one of my first reviews, so I hope I do it right... In the imp: Very creamy vanilla and freshly mown grass. I am assuming that is the sassafras. The green feeling overpowers and kind of tickles my nose. Not a fan in the imp. Wet: Getting a little more vanilla. I like this scent more and more. Drydown: Very sweet, very creamy vanilla grounded by a woodsy feeling and a hint of the greenness in the imp. I am in love. UNTIL... *dun dun dun* All of a sudden... BAM! Hello cedar. That is all I can smell now. Cedar over just the very faintest tiniest hint of that AMAZING vanilla I had but a moment ago. Well, crud. I wanted to like this one. Tombstone smells much better on my boyfriend. On the drydown everything is playing very nicely together all swirly and wafty and.... just nummers. No big bottle for me though.
-
In the imp: Lemon candy! Wet: Lemon candy!! Drydown: Lemon candy with a hint of cleaning fluid... uh oh... Wearing (after an hour or so): Lemon candy over the faintest breath of... florals? Overall, I like this though not enough to rush out for a large bottle. It is a very sweet lemon that reminds me of yummy suckers and the like.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume
vanillabean replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
Double post to (maybe) be more helpful... From: Here Now, the description shows up on this site next to the perfume named Niki de Saint-Phalle, which Jacqueline Cochran did not create. The smell seemed similar so I hope it helps -
Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume
vanillabean replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
So my mom can't find her favorite perfume anywhere, and I would like to get her something to replace it for Christmas. What better than BPAL?! Her perfume is Elizabeth Arden's Provocative Woman. I can't find a note list for it anywhere Yay found a note list! Others she has worn and loved over the years are Tresor, Fire and Ice, Vanilla Musk... She likes non-headache-inducing florals, vanilla, bright fruits, musk, and sandalwood notes. She probably won't like anything too smoky or anything remotely boozy, and no licorice. Most of those perfumes have oriental listed somewhere in their descriptions. Any recs?? -
Hello beloved BPAL-ers! As a newbie, I have been immersing myself in all sorts of oils to try and find ones I like. The only prroblem is, sometimes I don't know what it is I am smelling so I can look for other blends using that note. Oh sure, some of them are obvious (like vanilla or blueberry) but some like amber and vetiver confound me. Any advice on how to tell what it is I am smelling in a blend?
-
I apply oil to my hair one of three ways... (always on shower clean dry hair) 1) I run the wand down my part. 2) I flip the imp (I don't own any bottles yet) onto my pointer, middle and ring fingers of one hand. I touch my hands together and then run my fingers through my hair. 3) I mix some oil in with my hair products. Need to be careful with this though because it may react or mess with your hair product.

On me this is like walking through a garden of lilies, greenery and all. It is very soft, and somewhat sweet with a hint of spice.
