Wow, I really love this. And to think, a scent with jasmine, sandalwood, and champaca flower (three notes I'd usually shy away from) could be so awesome on me. I don't really get much of those notes on me though. This is all olive blossom, honey, smokey vanilla, and cinnamon. The other notes just stay in the background. This is like eating a cinnamon donut in a room that has the most delicious incense burning in the background. I think I found a new go to fall scent!

First Time BPAL-er looking for recs!

The rose is barely noticeable in Alice on me. I get mainly carnation, milk, and honey. And you can get an imp of it straight from the lab instead of having to go for a bottle blind.- 24 replies

First Time BPAL-er looking for recs!

I wouldn't write off any notes if you are new to BPAL. Things you might think have been death notes for you in the past could end up working for you perfectly fine in BPAL land. Each company does scents differently sometimes. That being said, makes sense to stick to your comfort zone for starters. Just if you end up getting any frimps along the way, definitely give them a test regardless of what their scent notes are. Some scents I wouldn't have even considered based on the notes have ended up being amazing on me. Some suggestions based on your likes: Faith = sugared violets (from the CD but not rereleased yet. You might be able to seek out a bottle in the forum sales) Definitely Alice from the GC if you like carnation and honey Beaver Moon 2010 was a lunacy LE scent - strawberry and peach cheesecake- 24 replies

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?
TallGrrl78 replied to Nadirah's topic in Recommendations
Black Rose from Rapaccini's Garden. Spellbound Whip I definitely second Whip! And perhaps Zombi, for a dirty rose. Try Harlot as well. Sexy spicy rose. It's one of my faves. Spellbound went to nailpolish remover on me. Whip was too high pitched and gave me a headache. I love Zombi but I know what you mean about wanting something darker. There was a resiny rose that came out with last year's phoenixes as well, This World Where Death Reigns (myrhh and black rose). That might be appropriate as well if you can track it down. -
Tushnamatay is another GC scent that is on the lighter side.
-
This is such a dark sexy scent. It's like a resiny more masculine version of Smut. I think this would be a great dude scent however it still strikes me as fairly unisex. I adore this one. Great staying power too.

If you like Baobhan Sith, Kumiho is basically the same scent without the grapefruit. Need to look through my list of GCs and see what else I've tried that you haven't already listed. I was going to recommend Phantasm as well. Smells like Lush Avobath. Mmm For LE's - I find Venustas to be pretty light on me. Also Daddy. ETA - Shattered is also really pretty is you like light mint scents.

Well, scarecrow falls in the same family of what you are looking for, but it's more dry grasses rather than sand. Just figured I'd add my thoughts since I'm testing that one along with Coyote today.

This is so wonderful. I used a spritz on my pillow last night and I just wanted to hug my pillow Lavender, vanilla, with a touch of woods. It's just so comforting. The scent stuck around for a decent while as I was drifting off to sleep.

Despite being light in throw, it's a clean fruity scent. The grapefruit stands out initially but then it blends in with the ginger and the white tea as they come out more. The apple blossom stays firmly in the background. It's really nice and would totally work for spring/summer. Only problem is that it fades super fast. Had to slather this one on. Imp cap wasn't cutting it. Only sticks around for a couple of hours before I would need to reapply.

Dug up an old imp of Burial - Initially I think "Whoa pine sol!" I don't usually have a problem with juniper so I'm thinking it's the combo with the patch. It settles down a little more after an hour or so but it still smells a little bit too much like cemetery dirt. Not sure that makes any sense, but it smells woody like coffins, loamy and dusty. I'm okay with wearing this for the day, but this is not something I'd reach for on a regular basis. This might be a more fitting scent for the fall. I could see combining this maybe with Autumn Leaves and Haitian Patch HG. Will save what's left of my imp and give it a go later this year.

Boober is very linden based. You also might want to check out Scattered Flower Smells from the Post if Hair Gloss is your thing.

I'll preface this by saying that "It's official! Champaca just is not for me!". Very strong champaca scent. It's probably like 80% of what I'm smelling with a little bit of peach in the background. But oh man, this champaca. Get out of my nose! Not sure if I just amp this note or what. Even though the champaca is listed last, it's the strongest note that I'm getting - bulldozing over everything else.

This is the ultimate clean scent. It smells almost like fresh herbs mixed with maybe dandelions or white florals in the sun. It does have a powdery quality to it, but it's just so cheery and bright and clean I don't mind it at all. Has great longevity - lasts well throughout the day. Just picked up a bottle as I think this will be a great spring/summer scent. Just to note - I'm not getting any cherry or dragon's blood like the above reviewers. Will compare my imp to incoming bottle and note whether the fragrance is different when I get here. ETA - Yep, got my bottle and still no cherry or dragon's blood. Although I can see where people might be getting cherry from cause there is a sweetness to it. Clean sweet flowers is what I get. Love this.

Rose red perfume oil has not worked for me in the past when I've tried it. However, Rose Red hair gloss is full of all sorts of win for me... This smells like you are skipping through a bright and very much alive rose garden. The roses are fresh with morning dew and the petals are lush and smooth. Excellent blend of vibrant red rose petals and green leafy stems and dew. This is just amazing. Throw is great initially, then it works it's way down to where if you huff your hair, you can still smell it. Just lovely!

I'm really digging this toad. It starts out wet with very much equal distribution of amber, coconut, and frankincense. As it starts to dry the vanilla and lemongrass come out to play a bit, but the lemongrass here is not BAM IN YOUR FACE lemongrass like Ectoplasm for example. It just adds a nice lemony vibe in with the amber and coconut. Shortly after dry down - I get a hint of the carnation and the sweet patch, but I can only really detect them if searching for them. It gets a little powdery (mix of the frank and patch?) after 15 minutes, but that seems to back down after another half hour and I get a lemony coconut amber. I really like this and will be testing it further to decide if bottle worthy. ETA - Just updating to confirm that I did indeed buy a bottle of this one. So yummy. Coconut Lemon Amber Vanilla loveliness.

This scent is just amazeballs. Seriously. Hands down my favorite of the 2015 Lupers. I get Pink Snowballs mixed with black cherry. It's a bit deeper/richer/warmer than the original Pink Snowballs due to the bourbon but that PS vibe is definitely there. Lasted most of the day on me and has good throw.
-
There really is not a lot to be said about this one - it is exactly as the description says: Honey soaked wildflowers and dandelions. The honey adds a warm creamy quality to the scent and is not overpowering. Smells like a warm spring sunny day. I really like this. Average wear length. Throw stays close to you and is not intrusive.

Roses and mosses. Very fresh smelling. Can definitely detect the spanish moss note. I'd say this comes out about 50/50 roses vs moss. The moss dominates on me after a couple hours of wear. Not sure but I think I'm detecting the labdanum/balsam more now as well. Overall very lovely and reminds me a lot of Zombi without the dirt component.

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

Rose Red perfume is very green on me. Persephone is very fruity. I don't get a lot of lush rose petals from those either. I've been testing out Harlot lately and I lurve it I actually added a full on bottle in the order I just placed with the lab. Don't let the cinnamon scare you. It's very subtle on me. It's GC too, so easy to get your hands on a imp from the lab. If you like dirt and moss notes, Zombi is another favorite of mine. It's not a straight up rose though. I get about an even blend of roses, dirt, and moss. Peacock Queen is my other go to purely rose scent. It's very floral and lush. That's LE though so possibly a bit harder to track down. It comes back frequently during Yules though so I'd keep an eye out for it later this year or even on BPAL's etsy possibly. -
I don't know if rose-infused amber is a technical term that means something different than just rose with amber, but I can't second this recommendation more. Spellbound is amazeballs. I do have an imp of it - maybe I need to test it out tomorrow. It is in my current imps to test pile. I love amber, I love rose, I love red musk....what could go wrong?
-
There is Spellbound which is GC. I've been meaning to try this one. It's Rose, amber, and red musk.

Trying to find the right winter scent for me
TallGrrl78 replied to childdoll's topic in Recommendations
Definitely try out Winter-time from this years Yules. Soft snow scent with a little mint to it. It's really nice. ETA - I will add that I don't care for Snow White either. It was just meh on me. But I love Winter time. -
You are quite the oddball Psychodynamic Discharge... Out of the gate wet I get...chocolate mint? Maybe a slight nuttiness in the background? Then it shifts more herbal...there's some sort of warm/cool thing going on. After all the notes finish the process of fighting it out on my skin and the scent dries down, this is a gorgeous leathery red musk coconut. The coconut is warm and just like it says "meaty". It feels dense and thick. It's sexy as hell. After a few test wears - I will be grabbing a bottle of this before the Yules come down.
