I bought a bottle of Hemlock Honey because my friend was awesome enough to trade me her imp. It was aged, I assume and smelled mostly honey. In fact, I thought all honey. But, I loved it which is why I now own a bottle. So fresh from the lab: In the bottle: mostly honey and a tint of something green I don't associate with hemlock yet. ~I should say that I have an affinity for the hemlock plant. It grows all over here in the ditches near water. I often pick the greenery for decorative and magickal uses. Its poisonous, which for some reason makes it particularly interesting to me. So, I am very familiar with its scent.~ Wet on my skin: Oh! There is the hemlock! Slightly similar to prairie sage. It is not overpowering and the honey is still the main focus. Dry down: A lovely, bright and fresh honey. It smells so good I can almost taste it. Hemlock Honey is my main go-to fragrance. I find that it layers well with many of my other BPAL scents and some of the other foo-foo things I am fond of. This is also my favorite to put on after my evening shower. It is comforting and sensual both, so it is condusive to getting frisky or falling asleep. Its the only one in my collection that is hubby approved. Not that he hates the others, but he always notices when I wear HH.

2012 Version I could hardly smell this in the bottle but kinda picked up plastic. Uh Oh. Wet on the skin all the way to 2 hours later (now) I smell both the pear and vanilla. Unfortunately, the vanilla has turned play-dough on me. It's not a horrible smell. It is similar to a body lotion, but not a high quality one. The combination also seems more of a summer scent, so I think I might let this one age until spring before I make a die hard choice whether to keep it or not. After two hours the stay is pretty strong. I can't say whether it has throw. I can smell it sitting here, but seems like it's close.

Bewitched comes to mind. It has a fresh, herbal, citrusy scent on me. Its in the GC so why not get an imp just to see?

This is my all time favorite bpal scent. Originally I bought a bottle and split it with my friend and found that I liked it so much that I was going through it quickly. Thanks to a swap with tuesday, I now have an additional full bottle and I feel like I can wear it whenever I want. This scent is incredibly hard for me to describe because it is so complex. How can you call something frosty and warm at the same time? Because this really is. It reminds me of curling up in a warm blanky in a forest cabin with a mug of mulled wine. The moon is shining and the forest floor & trees slumber under a deep snow. :love!: WSLE is the epitome of a winter holiday scent for me. When I open the bottle, I immediately think of all the things I actually love about winter (which is good because I NEED reminding). This one doesn't morph on me that much. It is definitely more potent wet, but dries down to smell very much the same. It has significant throw on me and while it doesn't last ALL day, it doesn't disapate quickly either. When I apply it to clothing or my hair it will stick around longer.

I got this as a frimp a year or so ago. I didn't care for it because it smelled like nagchampa which I hate. I washed it off rather promptly. After reading a thread about it yesterday I decided to try it again today. I agree that wet it smells very "head shop". Dried down for an hour or two I am really getting a spicy vanilla and I like it a lot. This is a scent I think will smell different depending on various factors. Today it's lovely. It might be worth a bottle later. I want to see if it has any sex appeal for my husband first.

I am surprized that I haven't reviewed this yet since I have now had it for a year, but I am glad because I think I like it better now. This review is the 2011 edition In the bottle is completely leaves to me. I burn this in my oil diffuser sometimes because I really dig this quality. It reminds me of rolling in a pile of leaves when I was a kid. This stays when it is first applied and then the sap takes over a bit making a sweet leafy combination. I love the sweetness of this stage. As it dries down the leaves come back with a hint of smoke. The leaves are dry... there is no dampness to this on me. The sap is still there and the cool autumn wind too. Really the description fits this one well. This will not be an every day flavor, but I love this one for fall. Fitting: this is October 1st. I came home early from work because I don't feel well and I find this extremely comforting. I will get alot more use out of it this year than last.

That was me! Indeed, my brain remembers things I posted a year ago, rather than using those brain cells for good. Here you go! 4 cups water cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom pods, black peppercorns 4 tea bags 1 box unsweetened almond milk 1 16 oz can pumpkin puree sweetener you like Add spices to the water to taste the way you like your chai and boil it a while. Put in the tea bags and let them steep 3 minutes, then take out the tea and the spices, and let it cool. Then dump in the almond milk and pumpkin and whisk it all up, and sweeten to taste. Don't replace the almond milk with dairy, the pumpkin can make it curdle. Yes, this is it! Thank you so much. You should post this in the forum cookbook. I need to make sure that I write this down and put it somewhere I'll remember. Source: Favorite Fall Foods

This is the 2012 edition. I love this scent. I honestly do not know why I chose it, but I am not disappointed. When I first opened the bottle it was difficult to smell, but now I can open it and its quite powerful. In the bottle it is very violet & white tea. Wet on my skin it has sort of a lemony dish soap odor to it, but this goes away pretty quickly (thank goodness). The dry down is where it gets good and more complex. The dusty crypt smells melds with the violet in a way I really like. There are some notes in here I wouldn't recognize if I smelled them, but I suspect this is where they begin to come out. Once totally dry I catch a whiff of what I suspect is the myrhh. My only complaint is that this one really fades quickly from my wrists. It is one that will require creative application for staying power (i.e. rubbed into hairs at the base of my neck or on clothing). This usually changes how it smells on me so it might require an updated review later. It is a very pretty blend. I am beginning to think that violet is a note that favors me. Now, if only she would bring back the White Chocolate & Sugared Violets! ETA: this has really become a favorite. I found that applying in the crook of my arms gives it all day staying power. The throw is good but not overpowering. When I walk close to people it makes they take a deep nose breath. LOL. It layers nicely with my hemlock honey too.

This was received as a frimp: Bon Vivant in the imp smells just like the description: champaign and strawberries. Wet on my skin: Ginger ale ~exactly like Dry down: A soft strawberry soda I like this. It smells very pleasant but is not what I would prefer to smell like. I will keep this imp around for when I want a bright pick me up scent, but I don't forsee it making it on my bottle wish list.

This a review of the 2012 edition I was afraid I was going to hate this. In the bottle it was Super Floral. Rose oil was my first thought. Wet on my skin the floral is very dominant, but there is a smoky undertone. As it dries down, the floral does not disapate but I think I can smell the faintest hint of chocolate. The smell has a serious "remember when" effect on me that I cannot seem to place. As the florals die down, I am not able to identify what comes out but I like it alot and find that I cant quit sniffing my wrist and sticking my nose in my shirt. This is definitely not foody at all and I was sort of hoping it would be a little. I like foody, but only if it is faint and doesn't have the candle wax quality. All in all, I find this difficult to describe with anything other than smoky floral. Even though I am not a fan of florals, I think I am going to get a lot of use out of this bottle and I am looking forward to seeing how it blends with a couple of other autumn bottles I have on hand. I am thrilled to spend my Mabon evening with a new bottle of Halloweenie 2012 Dias Des Las Muertas and a very generous glass of Malbec! LIfe is good. Later review: This does dry down to smell like the kitchen late at night after cooking for a celebration. After a few hours, the floral and smoke disapate and while it lingers very faintly, the "foody" comes in but in a gentle way. I love this part, but the throw is really light here so I am pretty much the only one that smells it unless I am shoving my wrist up someone's nose. Hehe! It does have several hours of stay, but only about 3-4 hours of throw except when I put some in my hair.

Cleopatra Testing Poisons on Those Condemned to Death
MtMoonKitty replied to shelldoo's topic in The Salon
This is a big time favorite for me and I am sorry I didnt get more than one bottle knowing it was going away. I definitely get the chocolate in the bottle and wet on my skin. Most of the chocolately scents smell very candle-like to me and this has a wonderful hint of dark chocolate, coffee without that. So, this isnt what the description says at all. I do get a hemlock honey later as it dries down but it is tempered by a little spicy something so its not so sweet as HH. This one requires re-applilcation on me. My skin eats it up. -
I was disappointed with this one. I was really hoping for Dragons Blood Resin, but it smells like dragons blood flower, which I dont like. It turns to a funky baby powder on me immediately. Its in the swap pile for me.

Gotta have em wish list for 2012 Weenies: Dias de Los Muertos (number ONE) Perilous Parlor Vampire Bride (love the name... cant help it)

In the bottle this smells exactly like dirt... and yes, graveyard dirt is appropriate. It really has a mildewy dirt smell but it doesn't stink. When I first put it on though it smells just like sugar beets. We have a sugar beet factory in my city so it is a smell I am very familiar with. I don't like this stage much, at least not in a perfume. But I love the dirt smell. Honestly, I didn't get all the way to dry down. I had to wash it off at a point because it is not something I think my fiance would care for, at least not during the sugar beet stage and we were on our way out to dinner. I can see myself wearing this for earth rituals. I bought it more for the song it goes to as it brought up some great childhood memories for me. I will hang on to it, even if it doesn't get worn much. I suspect it might mix well with some of my more floral blends.

In the bottle this smells just like it is described, but very potent. I hate the scent wet on my skin because the mango is too prevelent and it smells odd with the white chocolate. However, it dries down nicely and the buttercream becomes more noticable and the mango & white chocolate are mild. It smells somewhat like spun sugar after a while. I like this one, but my skin eats it up quickly so I have to endure the "wet on the skin" scent that I dislike when I reapply. Perhaps this one just needs a little more time? I plan to hang on to it and wear it from time to time. Just not when I need something enduring. LOL

I bought this bottle because I couldn't resist that Nymphia is "she who blesses brides". I am getting married in July and it just seemed appropriate. Based on the description, I wasn't sure whether I would like it because I don't wear alot of florals. In the bottle, I got Lavender, rose and coconut. Wet on my skin it was all coconut/mango to the point that my fiance couldn't smell anything else in the room but that. LOL! I can only describe it akin to spilling a pina colada on myself (alcohol and all). As it dried down the coconut mellowed alot and it really takes on the spun sugar with light florals. I like this one way more than I thought it would, but I like it best when it has had a little bit of time to soak in.

In the bottle this is a very strong ginger. Some got on the outside of the bottle when my friend brought it to me at work and it made my cubicle smell like men's cologne. I had to put it in my lunch box. I tried it on after my shower and wet on the skin I love this scent. I smell the ginger but it loses its overpowering effect as soon as it is on my skin. It dried down to a mild powdery scent that is a little spicy, but not like some of the other blends I have tried that give me an "old lady-baby powder" impression. I like this one, but I like it best when I first put it on. After that, it is just a nice clean smell but not that spectacular. It is not what I expected of "Burning Vulva" but I do think it is a keeper and I can't wait to see how it ages.

It is a very strong leather scent and on me it is overpowering and after a few hours can actually smell a bit on the sour side if I am not prudent. However, I have found that a tiny dab with a Qtip on the wrists and maybe a tiny bit on my clothing works great. Any time I have a scent that just seems to sweet for me, I wear the Red Rider as a light base and then put on the other scent. I have found so far this works particulary well with the Mabon 2010, Samhain 2010, Titania and White Rabbit. Now I am dying the try the White Rider... if only I could quit spending all my $$ on the limited editions. LOL!

Samhain 2010 This is my first ever post on the forums. It is not exactly my first order, but my first order that includes a full size bottle. I love the Samhain 2010. It completely reminds me of a dark autumn night and its multiple layers make it a fun scent to wear. I can't find the pumpkin scent, for which I am a little disappointed. However, the leafy woodsy aroma that seems to carry a hint of smoke and apples is fantastic. So far it is my favorite BPAL scent, though I am really happy with the Mabon 2010 as well. They compliment each other nicely too, by the way. I can't wait to see what comes out for Yule! MtMoonKitty
