I asked Brian at the will call on 12/15 for a good incense-y scent and he handed me a tester for Midnight Mass. This is an awesome fragrance and a must have for incense lovers. It seems to be frankincense and myrrh with maybe a little bit of distilled patchouli thrown in. If there is patchouli in it, it would have to be the sweeter, distilled variety. It is different from Cathedral, it's a much sweeter scent. I'd highly recommend ordering this scent before it's gone.

I just tried the scent and I thought I would hate it, but after having it on for an hour it's starting to work for me. It smells like chocolate wine. It's interesting, but I'll have to try it again before deciding on wether or not to buy a big bottle. I've never smelled anything quite like it before.

I had been looking for a nice lavender blend that didn't smell astringent when Beth sent an imp of Envy along with my order. This lovely scent fit my needs perfectly. I was actually surprised because the name Envy would normally put me off of trying a scent. This a delicate blend of lavender and mint. One me the mint fades quickly leaving a gentle lavender scent. I like to wear it when I'm stressed, and lavender is known for it's calming properties. If you want a calming scent or you love lavender, you should check out Envy.

I love the smell of real, live roses, but rose scented perfumes can be tricky! This one is very strong, but unique. It's rose with maybe musk and amber. It's a strong scent, so I use it sparingly, and one application can last all day. It's a plus for rose lovers.

I really love spicy, cinnamony scents and was very saddened at the loss of Three Witches, so someone suggested that I try Bengal. It was a good suggestion! I love this fragrance. It's a lovely honey, cinnamon, ginger, and clove scent. It's sort of like Chai tea. My only complaint is that it doesn't have the best staying power, and I have to re-apply every few hours. I suggest it for anyone who likes spicy, Oriental scents.

I got an imp of this and just ordered a 5ml bottle. I was pleasantly surprized by this scent, as I was originally put off by its name. I do like vanilla scents. This is vanilla and floral and sweet and lovely! I LIKE IT!

This is one of the most beautiful scents from BPAL ever! It's floral, fruity, winey and warm all at once. It smells like Fall but not in the traditional "pumpkin-spice" way. The wine notes really stick out to me. It's AMAZING and everyone who ordered it will be really happy when it arrives.

Floral Recs for those who usually don't like florals
merivelle replied to Neko's topic in Recommendations
Some non-florals that I like: O- amber, honey, vanilla Gluttony - too many foody items to mention, but no florals Dragon's Heart - has some fig and black currant, not technically florals Hellfire Snake Oil Bordello Jack There really are plenty to choose from, so have fun! -
I bought this becasue I love the poem "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes. It is a blend that is heavy on vetiver, a Venus ruled herb that has a traditionally masculine scent. In this scent the vetiver is mixed with gardenia, and those are the only two notes that I was able to detect in this blend. So, it seems to mix a traditionally masculine secnt, vetiver, with a more femine scent, gardenia. It is very long-lasting and does not need repeated applications. It is a very complex blend that is not for the faint of heart. Only try this is you like a powerful scent! It is very unique!

Looking for scents that smell like chai
merivelle replied to Vicious Mistress's topic in Recommendations
Try Snakeoil. Indonesian spices and vanilla- smells like vanilla Chai to me. Either way, it's one of the best BPAL scents. I'm still mourning the loss of Three Wiitches. Anyone have a suggestion on a replacement for that one? -
While Anaheim is far from Hollywood, you ARE coming to the greater L.A. area for a show, so why not try Hollywood Babylon?

Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion
merivelle replied to Shollin's topic in Recommendations
I find that Urd and Imp are very similar. It's interesting how all of these scents can smell so differently on different people. On me, O and Chimera never smell anything alike. -
I was given an imp of Tombstone and was pleasantly surprised by this lovely scent. I immediately got a larger bottle. Vanilla is the dominant scent and the balsam and cedar are, in my experience, pretty subtle. I like the fact that this scent is long-lasting, and I don't really need to reapply it throughout the day. This is a warm, vanilla fragrance and is a must have for vanilla lovers.

I bought this fragrance based purely on its written description, and I am please with the result! This is a beautiful heavily floral fragrance. The jasmine notes are the most dominant, and I never smelled the cardamon, even after several hours of wear. This scent has a strong Victorian feel, and is probably worth a try if you like intense florals.
