THE WILEY GRASSERPine needles, wildflowers, and cotton candy. I was very excited to get this as I love pine and candy scents. The wildflowers I'm not too sure about; I'm not usually a floral person but some are okay. I really hope they stay in the background, or are of a kind that does not immediately spell nasty floral death or baby powder on my skin. We'll see. In the bottle: I smell mostly pine needles with a hint of candy and something else I can't immediately identify. I'm not too great at telling florals apart, to be honest. It smells a little sharp. Wet on my skin: COTTON CANDY... with a tiny hint of pine. This is very sugary and bright, with a little bit of pine holding it down. Right now, I love this scent. 5 minutes: Okay, now it's still COTTON CANDY, but with a hint of something floral. I can barely smell the pine right now. I can't quite pin down what the wildflowers are, but something in this reminds me of this Lily of the Valley body lotion my mother used to wear when I was a kid. I can't tell if I'm getting that impression because The Wiley Grasser actually has lily of the valley in it or if it's because of how sweet this scent is. That lotion was very sweet, too. 15 minutes: The wildflowers and cotton candy are warring for dominance, but in a good way. The pine needles remain totally in the background; I don't think I'd be aware of them if I didn't know they were there. I'm surprised at how much I'm still liking this with as much floral as it has. I'm picturing a field of flowers with piles of cotton candy scattered throughout. This scent is bright and very happy. If it had a color, I would call it a playful neon pink. I haven't smelled anything from BPAL that smells remotely like this before. If you lightened up Sugar Skull and mixed in a little bit of flowers, you might come close, but Sugar Skull can be very heavy and deep on my skin, and this blend isn't either. It's very interesting. Drydown: The cotton candy wins out over the wildflowers, though not by much. The wildflowers are also not turning into baby powder, giving me a headache, or amping like no one's business, so I'm a little surprised. The pine needles make a little bit of a comeback - they're not even half as strong as the floral or cotton candy, but they are lending a faintly sharp, woody note to this blend. This scent has medium strength with little throw. I smell it best with my wrist almost to my nose. I can't really say as to the wearlength yet, as I'm going to have to get ready to leave for work in a bit, but it has been on for a little over an hour so far and it has not faded noticeably on my skin. However, I didn't even let this get to my mailbox - I ran up as soon as the postman came into the parking lot and got it right off the truck - so we'll see if it does something different when it settles. I'm hoping it doesn't change too drastically, though, as I'm fond of it the way it is. This may be a new top 10 scent for me - I'll have to try it a few more times to decide for sure. Either way, I'm very glad I ordered a bottle.

Okay, this is officially the best bath oil I own, and I own quite a few. This is the most delicious perfumey vanilla, and it's light enough that I feel like I may be able to put it on before working without knocking everyone I work with over with my scent. Simply gorgeous. I wish this came in a gallon-sized container. I will be buying backups before it goes down.

I don't know about this one. I love me some resins, but this one is awfully sharp and evil-smelling. Ancient families hiding ancient secrets, indeed! I am very reminded of a dark, ancient wooden home hiding creepy only partially human residents. This perfume is how I'd imagine the scenes in horror movies where you are watching a person walk alone down the road through holes in wood, as if you're sitting right next to the horror waiting to jump out and devour the unsuspecting individual. I am finding this one unsettling for some reason. It's not a keeper for me.

I agree with everyone who said salty/sweet/aquatic. I wasn't really expecting the aquatic part, but as aquatics go, this is pretty nice. It actually gives me a weird mental image - there is a Stephen King book I absolutely LOVE called Duma Key, and in it a man living in the Florida Keys paints a lot of pictures, one titled "Roses Grow from Shells." My idea of what that picture would look like is exactly what this smells like to me. Roses under a wooden house jutting out over the ocean... It's an interesting scent-picture, but I can't see myself wearing it often.

I got some red musk when I applied, but beyond that I am getting the most perfect clean skin smell. I smell like I just stepped out of the shower after using a very mild herbal-scented soap. I was not at all expecting this. With my skin chemistry, this is the lightest, most unobtrusive scent of all of the Yules I've tried. It is very gender-neutral and really does not smell like perfume at all. I'm going to retest, but I am considering purchasing a bottle for use at work, since I'm not supposed to wear perfumes at all to my job and no one in the world would ever think this is perfume on me. I am definitely surprised!

I am so disappointed! This was the scent I was most expecting to like, in fact I almost blind bought two bottles. I'm really glad I didn't now. I love the Lab's leaf note. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE I seriously can't say LOVE enough. I also really like frankincense and amber. So this was bound to be a win, right? Wrong. I got my beautiful leaves and frankincense right away with just a touch of ash, but after about 10 minutes this became almost single note ash on my skin with just the vaguest hint of other notes in the background. Seriously. I wanted to smell like leaves with a subtle hint of ash, not like ash with a subtle hint of leaves. Oh well, now I know I amp the Lab's ash note...

Well - let me just preface this by saying that I had no idea what Scottish Tablet was. I just assumed it was some fancy kind of stone note. Really. That being said, if I'd known it was a foody thing I probably wouldn't have ordered a decant of this one. If this scent had been what I'd imagined - all books and stone with a vague hint of florals - I probably would have LOVED it. As it is, it's got a cloyingly sweet foody note to it that I don't care for. I see and agree with the comparisons to the Antikythera Mechanism - that had a cloying foody note that I didn't care for either. I am disappointed, and I've learned to do my research and find out what notes are if I'm not sure. Educated guesses as to what a certain note really is are bound to fail every once in a while.

I am seriously getting all gingerbread from this. There was a hint of a Snake Oil note when I first applied it onto my skin, but that note was quickly sublimated by the gingerbread. This is SN Gingerbread - and it's a little too foody for me.

This is the note that turns into playdough in Snow White. I was really hoping that something else was the culprit, because I thought this was positively lovely when wet, but alas, playdough. It's not a keeper.

Definitely herbal - a lot of lavender, maybe some sage? Rosemary? I'm not sure, but this is pretty delicious. Unfortunately, it is really short-lived on my skin.

I smell dragon's blood, and that's all I need to know to know this blend isn't a keeper. Dragon's blood turns to nasty floral yuck on my skin. Pass!

I have two imps of this to test: light yellow and light orange. Both smell very similar - sweet and earthy when wet, and lovely. However, when they start to dry down, there is something almost floral that comes out - I'm wondering if it's the cereus? Either way, it's a little sharp. I think this perfume would have been a lot more lovely without that sharp note. I think this one is a pass for me.

Definitely smells like I'd imagine brimstone to smell. It smells like burning dirt and rocks - what I imagine lava would smell like. I definitely agree with the ash comparison - I really don't get much else. I wish I got more myrrh or pepper, because I think I would really like it if I did. As it is, single note ash is boring.

Quite deliciously citrus upon first application with a hint of aftershave. I like it! It is surprisingly happy considering the subject matter. I'm definitely going to have to try it out on my boyfriend later.

What a gorgeous rose blend! It is very fresh upon first application, then some woods start backing it up. Finally, some of the hazel comes into play. I get all of the notes and they are balanced beautifully. It is very nice, but I have so many other more interesting rose blends that I don't think this one is a keeper. I'm glad to have experienced it.

Whoa, hello warm and sexy! I was not expecting this for some reason. I'm getting myrrh and some very warm pepper and some green notes backing him up - maybe the seaweed and moss? Either way, this is straight-up hot. Well, it was straight-up hot. It's getting greener as it dries down, to the point that the bitter green bite I get behind the myrrh and pepper is straight up unpleasant. It's a real shame - I really liked this at first.

Immediately upon application, I am mostly getting high-pitched lily, the one note I wanted the least of. I was really hoping for more sandalwood, rose, and frankincense, but they are not showing up to the lily party right now. As it dries down, the sandalwood and lily combine to make something... soapy. I am not a fan of this perfume.

Based on the notes I really, really wanted to love this, but from the moment it hits my skin on it is nothing but woodsy man-soap. It smells like something my boyfriend would wash himself with. I'm going to pass.

I see very few people took the plunge on this one. It is a very interesting bath oil for sure. Vetiver usually doesn't play nice on me but in this it's actually enjoyable. I don't get much frankincense and myrrh, I mostly just get vetiver and tea with maybe a dusty resin background. It's not actually that fabulous right out of the bottle, but I mix bath oils in my conditioner, and this makes my hair smell elegant and expensive. I like it.

I find this scent very evocative. It's not at all an icy scent, but it still manages to be bright and white in the way that I could see an Ice Princess being. The strongest note to my nose is a very perfumey peach, with blackberries and vanilla backing it up. It is a sophisticated teen scent, if that makes any sense. It's not my favorite, but I definitely enjoy using it now and again.

Honestly, you could throw cantelope, mango, and a metric ton of sugar into a blender and that's exactly what this smells like to me. Very melon, very sweet, very fun. I don't usually go for the fruity stuff but this is just happy in a bottle. It screams to be used when I'm in a lighthearted mood. It's a keeper.

I had hoped for carnations, honey, and myrrh since I love those notes, but I got screeching floral neroli instead. Sharkdiver hit the nail on the head with the funeral home comparison for me. This is probably one of my least favorite bath oils.

I don't usually like florals, but this bath oil is vying for my top spot. It's light, it's gentle, it's sweet, and nothing in it goes screechingly, headache-inducingly floral. It almost smells fruity in a light fruit way, like maybe the scent of a strawberry. I love this one and I wish I'd ordered more bottles when I saw it on Etsy!

Delicious, delicious, delicious. This is one of my top three bath oils for sure. Cocoa doesn't usually work for me, but here it does as it beautifully mixes to leave a soft, sweet, fruity vanilla scent with chocolate backing it up. For the record, this smells like expensive chocolate, not Hershey's. I'm not usually a huge foody but I love Gula.

Agreeing with Herb Girl - something in this goes funny on my skin. It may be the chocolate - that never lasts on me in any BPAL perfume, so maybe it's what's causing the problem. It smells like amazing delicious cake in the bottle, so I could see how this could be amazing for someone else, but it's just not amazing for me.
