Favorite Scents
Antique Lace, Snow White, Dorian, Dana O'Shee, Miskatonic University, Jack, Pumpkin Patch 1-3, Dragon's Milk. I favor Creamy, Milky, Almondy, Sugary, Sweet scents. Not so keen on strongly incense-y or really heavy heady scents. Allergic to some forms of rose, cinnamon, and patchouli, so I prefer to avoid those.

Well, I've now tried undertow as well as numb. Numb is... odd, and not entirely what I was looking for. Not bad though. Undertow is minty alright, but something is a bit not right with it too. The search continues!

Huh. This is an odd one. Not something I'd have considered a perfume possibility really. In the bottle it smells like nothing. A little like the smell of the air from a compressed air canister. Applied, it smells like something I know... definitely soapy... Dove! Dove sensitive skin formula bar soap. That's what this is! It's very faint once it dries, but it's still Dove. No violets, gardenia, or anything else anyone has mentioned in this, not even the baby powder. Now, I use Dove soap, and I like it, and there are days when I want to smell clean and fresh like that. I don't know if I need a whole big bottle of the scent of Dove though. This one might just be moving along, despite the fact that I just got it. We'll see.

interesting. I suppose I should mention that the citrus notes tend to go very cleaning product-y on me, at least the lemon in embalming fluid et al did. I tend to wear Snow White or Dana O'Shee most of the year 'round, for reference. I'll go look up reviews of the scents suggested.

I've got Spooky, and I love the mint note in that, but the sweeter notes make it too sticky for summer wear for me anymore. I'm looking for icy, minty, cold, crisp scents to wear on those hot muggy days when all you can do is lay about wishing you had a freezer large enough to crawl into. I've tried Envy and Ultraviolet, and didn't care for them too much. I'm pretty sure I've posted reviews on them, if you're curious.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

I'm curious- what other blends are similar to Queen of Clubs? She's not an everyday blend for me, but I only have about half an imps worth, and want to see if maybe a similar scent will be more everyday wearable. I like aspects of her, but not all of them. Alas, I'm lacking in the vocabulary to properly explain what I mean. -

O didn't like me... I believe if I recall correctly it went "piss" on me. I will be looking into some of these other suggestions though! Keep it goin' folk, you are all awesome! -

He doesn't wear scent of any kind, so the mixing idea is sorta out. The closest to scent he gets is when he remembers to wear deoderant. Heh. He has a naturally very sweet scent to him, and I've found that he must ooze some strange pheremones because women are ALWAYS drawn to him no matter what. I'll have to get some of these suggested scents and try them out. -

We tried poly. I hate it. He has stopped seeing Other Woman sexuall (they were friends prior and are still friends). Other Woman isn't getting the message. Suggestions of blends to wear when I know I'm going to be somewhere with my boyfriend where she'll be there too? Something to give a "back-off [insert unsavory word]" vibe? -
Interesting. Now I know why I never smell vanilla in any of the BPAL blends which are supposed to contain it. In the vial it smells almost like ameretto. Correction, it smells exactly like amerettini cookies. Once on my skin, it turns into a baby powder scent. Vaguely similar to the Vanilla and Jasmine Johnson & Johnson baby powder I have (which smells neither of vanilla or jasmine really). Definately not vanilla though. After a few hours I thought maybe it would have morphed, like many people seemed to experiance. Nope. No morphing. Still baby powder, still not even a hint of vanilla. Well drat. I really wanted to believe that BPAL's vanilla bean note would be just that- the smell of slicing open a vanilla bean. Alas, it is not.

The scent of warm, glowing jack o’lanterns on a warm autumn night: true Halloween pumpkin, spiced with nutmeg, glowing peach and murky clove. OOH! Butter! Wow does this smell like butter... or butter cookies... or something else that is very buttery. Even the oil is a pretty buttery color. Once applied this becomes pumpkin pie with butter in the background, very foody and VERY warm. It dries down to a slightly more vanilla verson of those big round mulled cider scented candles. The tail end of this one is, finally, the peach. It's a peach vaguely reminiscent of the fruit in Snow White. Maybe that was white peach?

I too will add my sentiments of hope that this becomes available again. It's a wonderful scent. In the imp I get something... it's either asian pears and white grape or green apples, or it's white grape and paperwhites. On the skin I get the same, clean and fresh without being fruity or foody. This is what I should smell like after using a good unscented soap one would think. It's a nice crisp and cool scent, but not cold. A yellow-green scent, if scents can be colors. After many hours I get a very slight milk scent, like being in the room with someone who just poured a glass of milk whilst eating a pear in a room with paperwhites. Stays pretty true the whole way through. Absolutely lovely.

This has become my summer scent. I just adore this. Did you ever have one of those vanilla-mint pastille candies, like tic tacs or such? That's what this is exactly. In the bottle and when wet on the skin it's a round, smooth mint- not the sharp Ice 101 mint, but more peppermint flavored syrup for italian sodas and the like. Once it dries down a creamy vanilla note shows up, tempered with the mint. Like mint vanilla candies, or minty marshmallows. It's light, and cool, with just enough warmpth to blend into the skin for a light refreshing scent that isn't too strong or overpowering. A wonderful blend, if you ask me.

ooh, too sweet! Sticky sweet, with a children's tylenol liquid faux-fruityness to it. If someone were to make a champagne and strawberry candy, this would be what it would smell like. This is just a slightly acrid sticky sweet strawberry jolly rancher stuck to the picnic table on me. I really wanted to like this, but as the second strawberry scent that's gone awry on me, I'm guessing that strawberry just doesn't like me all too well.

My initial sniff from the imp made me want to swap this away without further thought. It stung my nose with a strong astringent chemical smell that I can't place. I love tea scents, so it wasn't that. Oof. Trying this on I got a little whiff of sweet cream from the imp wand. For the split second when I was applying this I got a hint of cherry bubble gum or artificial strawberry beverage. Then it went to herbal and has pretty much stayed there. Nose-to-skin and wafting both give me the same herbal scent. A wee hint of the chalky pink "tutti-frutti bubblegum' flavored antibiotic fluid from childhood. I was hoping from the reviews to have found a wearable strawberry that smelled like an actual strawberry, but no go. At least not on me.

Lemon and musk. Again with that musk like The Body Shop made/makes. I'm missing the tea, unless... no- it can't be that chemically smell in there, can it? Definitely very lemony, although not in a freshly cut open lemon way, but more in an acidic lemon dishwasher detergent way. Almost lemon scented bleachy. This faded quickly, and I'm not very upset that it did. I was hoping for more tea, and less chemical. I do wonder if this would layer well with something, although I'm not sure what. I tried it with a few of my milky scents and it wasn't very pleasant. Maybe to add to a fruity or flowery scent? I'm really not sure. It seems that Embalming Fluid splits us into two groups- those who smell great with it, and those who turn into cleaning products. Ah well. I guess it's oddly befitting, since REAL embalming fluid proably IS fairl y cleaning-producty, one would imagine.
