Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

I'm rather new, so this sounds like a fantastic idea! I'd love any suggestions anyone might have. I'm 21, majoring in biological anthropology (specializing in osteology and paleoanthropology) and I hope to enter a PhD program next year. I love my major - I literally study bones all day long and it's fantastic. Definitely a geek - I started reading early, and I never go anywhere without a book. Basically grew up in the library, and I still go there whenever I want to relax. I can be a bit shy when I'm around people I don't know, but I open up quickly around interesting people and after that I'm actually very talkative and open. Some people might even say I trust too easily. I've played various musical instruments all my life - the longest is the oboe for 10 years now. My favorite book is "The Phantom of the Opera" and I'll admit, I'm a sucker for romances even though I tend to play the cynic. Not remotely religious, but still a bit spiritual if that makes any sense - I'm a scientist at heart, and I value logic above all else, but I can still wax poetic about the beauty of the laws of physics and the universe as a whole. I'm actually Jewish, just more culturally so than religiously. A lot of my interests are rather quirky and/or morbid but at the same time I'm told that I'm ridiculously non-confrontational, sweet and I have one friend who legitimately calls me a "kitten." Swear. So I am outgoing, but I value my alone time too - I spend a lot of time in my dorm room, on my laptop. Russian classical music (Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin), Sherlock Holmes, Criminal Minds, Wuthering Heights, Much Ado About Nothing, fresh raspberries and blackberries, grew up in a college town with professors for parents, can read Egyptian hieroglyphs as well as Latin, Hebrew and French. Wow, I sure come off as contradictory, don't I? It works, though, I promise. I'm really a very happy, optimistic person. Are we supposed to put appearance as well? 5'4", rather average weight, fairly conservative as far as clothing goes but I prefer to go for a cute dress instead of jeans and a t-shirt. Long brown hair, brown eyes (that almost look Asian, we think somewhere back in my family there's someone with Mongolian ancestry), ridiculously pale skin. I'm sure this is all way too much information, but like I said above - talkative!

First impression... definitely a dark, heavy scent. I wouldn't wear a lot of it at one time or else it would become overwhelming very quickly. It isn't sharp or unpleasant, just very strong. When I first put it on it smells almost smoky, and I can definitely smell the resins. After it's dried a while the leather comes out... and a bit of the musky scent that they described. I don't know that I smell the musty drapes, but I can see how this would be evocative of a mysterious Phantom living beneath the opera house. I'll have to try layering it with Christine, I'm curious now that I've read what other people have said about trying that. Overall I like this scent, although I don't know that I'd wear on a regular basis because it's very distinctive and strong. It might be my new evening out with a slinky black dress scent.

In the bottle I definitely smell soft florals, maybe a little fruity... it's very sweet! On the skin the guava really comes out, with the floral fading a bit but still definitely there. Very feminine, but also very light. I'd put on more than usual so that it doesn't fade too quickly. I like how it smells so sweet, but the florals balance it out so that it isn't overwhelming and it doesn't make me think of food. The lemongrass comes out more as it dries, and while I'm not sure that I'd say it's a "lunatic's blend" it's definitely a nice scent that I'd wear with jeans and a pretty blouse.

I'll admit, I bought this bottle entirely because of the name. A Phantom of the Opera scent? Count me in. Mind you, I love this scent so it all works out well! In the bottle, very very floral. On my skin, still very floral but the vanilla really starts to come out. It's a nice, girly scent that I'd love to wear on a regular basis, formal or informal. As it dries I can smell a little bit of the frankincense - not much, but it's there. It gives it a bit of a dark tone, which is very nice and appropriate considering the inspiration for this scent. Maybe a bit powdery, but it doesn't smell soapy to me. Overall, a fantastic scent! I'll definitely wear it often, and I'm glad I got a whole bottle of it.
