In the imp: Very strong Crest toothpaste smell mixed with rotting garbage. Wet: Strong somewhat fruity scent with a little spice. Not pleasant but not horrible yet. Dry: Strong cinnamon making my skin itch. Then there's the peanut butter and jelly smell. Overall: Do NOT like the blend, will NOT wear ever again. Away!

Thanks for passing it on to me, lookingglass! In the imp: Strong fruity soap smell. Like someone made a realistic-smelling soap of a pomegranite. Wet/Drydown: It stayed crisp pomegranite! Same from vial to skin, and I'm loving it! Apparently, pomegranite loves my skin because it stayed for a while. This may become a problem in other blends, I will have to find out. Overall: I will probably horde this imp and maybe even buy a 5ml. It's so tasty and fruity and tart that I love smelling myself wearing this. I've been drinking Pom juice for the past 4 days, so it's odd that it came yesterday when I finally finished my bottle. Coincidence, wow.

In the imp: Thick sweet resiny cherry. Wet: The Dragon's blood pops out more and more with the dark fruity wine scent. Drydown: After about 2 minutes the rose comes out in the background, my body tones it down I think, which is pleasant for me. The dragon's blood and wine are more dominant and continue to mix well. Didn't last so long, though, like most others. Overall: Love love LOVE the wine/dragon's blood mix! I think my body likes DB resin and hates amber. It's such a charming and sexual scent that I think I shall keep it for some special date nights. I think Nick might like this on me, the wine... what a wino!

In the imp: Strong wet green smell, rose barely discernable. Wet and drydown: The rose is more apparent wet, it's a green rose but a very soft green rose. It really does feel like I'm smelling roses wafting on a warm spring breeze. Very nice, natural rose. Overall: I don't know about the throw of this oil, but it lasted a long time on me, compared to any of the other oils I've tried. It lasted through 4 hours of school strongly, and 1.5 hours of that was hip hop dancing. I really like it, but I have other rose scents to try. It may stay or it may go, I haven't decided for sure yet.

In imp: Rosemary tinged with sweet orange blossom Wet: Blessed rosemary! The orange blossom fades a little bit more, sadly, but the rose starts to come out. Drydown: I can smell rosemary for hours, and I love it! The rose and rosemary mixture smells so fresh and clean. Overall: I've been waiting for an amazing rosemary scent. I'd like to have a rosemary mint mixture sometime in the future but I think I can make that myself if the lab never comes out with one. I'll be using up the imp and getting more sometime, it's perfect for being naughty but feeling clean at the same time

Fae, another of the imps from lovely mini. In the imp: Undeniable fruit, nice sweet wet fruit tinged with musk. I'm very proud of myself, I picked out white musk without seeing the description. Getting a tid bit better with the ol' nose. So far, I like it, as long as the bitterness created by the musk and wet fruit mixture doesn't stay too strong. Wet: Still musky, but it's in the background more and the juicy fruit comes out to play in full force. Already a heavenly mix of woodland flowers and juicy, wet fruits. Drydown: Peachy and honeysuckley. I like it A LOT. Overall: Will keep, will use. Very fruity and nice

In/on the imp: A very strong and unpleasant buttery burnt sugar smell. I tired it anyways, just to make sure it's not my thing. On me: And it's HORRIBLY wrong for me! It stays burnt sugar and butter, but my mom smelled me and recoiled "Dried baby urine!" she said. Overall: I agree with my mom. It's nasty to me and I will never use it and know noone who can, either. Swap!
-
In the imp: Warm blood, not kidding about that, and definately resin. Drydown: The blood scent fades away, resin comes to the foreground and stays until the end. Overall: A nice warm resin blend. I wouldn't wear this seperately, but could be lovely layered with another smell. Not amazing, but not horrible.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Late autumn flavor would be Sea of Glass. It's a nice cool breeze of late autumn with a deep lilac scent to me. -
Xiuhtecuhtli was wonderful on me, a very resiny orange blossom. Can't wait to try Catherine, sounds distinctly like Emily.

The description for Sea of Glass sounded so great, and the reviews sounded exactly like what I was looking for. Thanks to Minilux (a THOUSAND thanks again for the wonderful imps) I tried this. In the imp: Strong white florally wetness. Wet: Citrus, the white light floral again, a tinge of wetness (maybe the ozone mixed with the citrus, not sure yet.) On me: Heavenly! The scent I got when I just moved my arms around was ocean spray without all the salt. Just smelling the wafts was like a very slight sweet grapefruit in a lilac bush on the beach, up close it's all lilac bush and cold sand and lake. Overall: I want to use this for a daily perfume, for baths, for a room scent, for meditation, and DEFINATELY as a pillow and body mist before bed. It's perfect for meditation and sleep. Oh wow!

I was hoping to get some strong bourbon scent out of this one... mmm bourbon! In the imp: Strong alcohol-like smell, not quite bourbon but everclear alcohol, with some other astringent-like smell. Wet: Bourbon and a sliver of mint On me: Strong talc powder. I can only smell the bourbon very close, and the powder smells so strongly it's not worth wearing. Overall: Sadly, I will have to leave this to someone else... hopefully some other boozy scent will come along that will work on me.

Free imp from minilux, that wonderful gal! In the imp: Very strong cherry scent, like sugar-free candies On me: First the scent was primarily a deep cherry smell, then the anise peeked through after half a minute. I don't normally like black licorice but the anise isn't as bitter and annoying as it normally is. Then immediately after an amber or a resin scent comes through, smelling a bit like incense on my skin. I also get a slight powder tinge to the smoky scent (whichever it is,) but I like that and think it's very pleasant Overall: Don't think it's an everyday smell, but I do really like it and will probably be wearing it a little bit maybe to work or to special occasion things. I think it would work lovely for a professional dinner.

Forest & Woods Scents (with and without evergreens)
PixieSkull replied to omly's topic in Recommendations
Dublin did the SAME thing to me, and I really didn't like it... and I really did want to like it. I thought Hamadryad was a sweet, crisp, crunchy forest floor scent. I want to try Yggdrasil VERY badly! -
In the imp: strong, clean, white floral On me: Sweetness (neroli) with a nice musk. One of the florals is making me sneezy, though, as everytime I went to sniff myself or my shirt I sneezed as soon as I sensed a white floral. Overall: Sad that I reacted to one of the notes because the musk was very heavenly on me, which I never knew before. I thought it was a very nice light, sweet floral and I'm glad I got to try it. Hopefully someone will like it as much as I do and not sneeze at it.

Ulalume! I tried that a little bit ago and I found it to be the perfect leaves smell... it's amazing how long it lasted on me, too. Hamadryad worked well on me, but it was a bit too neutral. If it was a tid bit more crisp, I might have bought a 5ml. Dublin would have been nice, if I wouldn't have had such a horrid reaction to it... sniffles and nausea and a headache. at least I got to give it to someone that will love it. -
Random try, wanted to smell like flowers. Mixed it with my unscented lotion for body application, smelled nice in imp. In imp: strong, sweet florals. Can't pick out any specific smells, but at least one smells very familiar (grandparent's garden, I swear.) Wet: Soap. Intense flowery soap. Faded to a nicer darker flower, a late-blooming one perhaps sitting on a bar of soap. Overall: I don't like it. I've found that lots of florals don't make me feel as pretty as I want them to... high standards I guess. I'll stick to Xiuhtecuhtli for me sexy flower smell, and throw La Bella in the swap pile.

What taza said on the first page is really hitting me now, it smells a tid bit like Cool Water to me! That was the first commercial perfume I could even stand the smell of and I knew this smelled familiar but couldn't place it at first. In the imp: Smells heavily of rotting and muddy wood, like a flooded area. I get a little lemon pinesol from the aftersniff. Ozone for sure. Wet: Dirty wood through strong breezes, lots of ozone. Drydown: Pleasant vetivert, I can definately pick this note out of all the things I have tried. There's vetivert in my Silky Underwear dusting powder, finally a scent connection! I really like how the scent smells like dirty breezes, smelling a lot like the moments immediately after a sudden thunderstorm. I can even smell the wet concrete. Overall: Not too impressive, although somewhat pleasant on the drydown. I may use up the rest of the imp, I may swap it off. I'm not sure yet. I do think it smells of the soap my dad's used for years, although I hate that soap smell (due to artificial fragrances and the sneezing and itching.) I'm thinking I will trade it off, noticing that. Oh well, it was a good try anyways... my element of air scent didn't work so well. I am a fickle Gemini, denying my roots yet again

In the imp: Smells like a crisp cold apple with cinnamon sprinkled on top. On me: Now I know what powder is, but it's a very spicy and pleasant powder. Sweet cinnamon and sugar goodness, like putting it on toast. The nice sweet floral scent that goes powdery on my is unknown at this time (not good at finding which floral is which.) Overall: This was recommended as a fall type of scent and it does remind me of leaves and ripe florals and later I can smell something woodsy in the background, reminding me of Dublin. While I hated Dublin, I enjoy this specific scent, I think it's Cypress. I'll use the imp but won't order any bottles.

My imp of this scent is VERY different than my bottle, but that's alright seeing as I'm in the middle of my "lady time" and I could just be imagining a certain smell. I edited the post to compare my older sample to my bottle. In the bottle: Lovely bitter lime in homemade coconut milk, just like coconut-lime rice. There's the creamy and slightly sweet coconut coming through behind it. In the imp: Astringent peppermint with a bitter lime peeking through. Drying bottle: The lime and peppermint mix with something else in the mix to make a sort of coconut milk chai flavor. I swear there's clove in here somewhere! It's not bad, I really do like cloves. Drying imp: strong peppermint, slight lime, very slight coconut Overall bottle: I love this scent, whether it's the creamy creamy lime coconut or the coconut chai smell. I will definately keep this one around for everyday use, very much a great buy. After comparing to imp, smells a tid bit like Fruit Loops. Overall imp: softer and less spicy than my bottle, wish the bottle was a tid bit more like this.

Bottle: Strong sweet decay scent, slightly like over-done lilacs On me: Damp leaves, dead leaves, super-old lilacs, and... cinnamon? I was looking for an autumn/fall scent that would be like dead leaves and this is exactly what I was looking for! The cinnamon buries itself in the florals and rolls around like a dog. Overall: Want a 5ml for the autumn time, or at least another imp of it. My coworkers looked at me funny when I said "I smell like dead leaves!" but I think they liked it anyways. I love the scent overall and it doesn't sicken me with it's sweetness. I really like it.

In my impatience to sniff all of the lovely imps I've received yesterday and today in the mail, while opening this imp of Cathedral, the top sprung open flinging a droplet of oil onto my face. I figured I should review it at this time because it'll prolly get better. Bottle sniff: Wow, that's a DUSTY old wet smell! On me: I can smell the incense, as if the sweet smoke of it is wafting into my lungs! I smell dirt and wet stone as well in the incense. There's a powdery note on the top, as if there's a freshly-changed babe in the seat next to me. Overall: It's not really a negative scent, but I don't think it would be an everyday scent or something that I would wear to work. It would make a GREAT room scent, especially when the characters in my DnD world were to enter a shrine. I will keep this imp and use it (hopefully) until the last drop! Probably won't order a bottle, but MAYBE another imp.

First impression: I have no clue why this scent doesn't like me, since I don't really know the notes in it and can't pick them out. Definately smells sweet and clean, but in a scented dryer sheet kind of way. In imp: Smells crisp and sweet, a sweet fruit underneath that I feel I could like, if only the hazy dryer sheet wasn't in the way. On me: Oh boy did I make a mistake wearing this to work today! The top sweet scent started to overpower for the first few hours, making me want to gag. I couldn't pick anything out until a while later and sniffing intently at my arm. The thing I didn't like about it was that it was so crisp that I wanted to sneeze at it... I think there's something in it I'm sensitive to, but that's okay seeing as I don't like the scent anyways. Overall: Will not use it, will not buy it, will immediately try to swap it away. I don't think it would even make a good room scent, it's way too bright and sweet. Hopefully it won't turn into dryer sheets on the next person! Second impression: Okay, I really did NOT like this scent the first two times I tried it. I again too an objective sniff at my wrist after applying it, and I find it's very pleasant right now. Very soft and like a fruit's flower... like apple blossoms somewhat. Just a shame that I have to go through the disgusting dryer sheet smell to get to it... oh well. In the imp: White tea and I have no clue what else. Wet: White tea, pure and simple Dry: White tea, again, but now I can smell some fruit underneath. Overall: Very much like Kumiho, which I'm in love with. The floral underneath isn't ozone-like anymore. Think I'll stick to Kumiho, though, I like the ginger.
-
Bottle: Smells like bitter and dark lemon with a little bit of iced tea in the background On me: Oh. My. God! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! It's gentler now with a light floraly ginger coming through the tea. It's now like lightly sweetened white tea with ginger and a lemon slice in it. Overall: I will buy more of this when I run out, it's PERFECT for me. I love teas and I love smelling teas all the time so this was a natural to go with my white tea and ginger shampoo. This is the perfect spring/early summer scent to go with flowy skirts and wooden jewelry and sitting outside sipping some iced tea. I guess I don't mind so much that it's a light blend and doesn't stay so strong, it will definately layer well with some of the other scents I have. Oh my, I can't stop smelling myself!

Bottle/imp: I smell orange covered in some sort of soft, fluffy floral On me: BEAUTIFUL orange smell, sweet and ripe. The floral comes out a bit more and it's very light and still fluffy. There's a smoky note right at the end that is somewhat deep. Overall: A husky but sweet feminine scent. I've already used some to make a tart for my oil burner and would love to smell this in my home all through the summer. I don't know if I'll buy any more of it, but the imp will be used up. My mom initially LOVED the scent of this, so I might make some scented lotion out of this for her to wear. We're both pretty picky with scents, being allergy-headed, but this didn't do anything negative for me. Hope she likes it!
