Imp: Dragons blood resin and wine? Heavy whiff of black smoke. Something that was in Serpent's Kiss is in this, the part I wasn't so fond of... hope I'm wrong. Can smell the peach, it's lovely. I've decided the peach is gorgeous. Wet: Dirty fruit, sexual, sexy. Peach and darkness, a warm black hole that I think is the golden musk and patchoulli. The amber must not be a large part because I smell no powder. Dry: Aaaand peach scents stay on me, they LOVE my skin! The patchoulli is lovely with the peach and I expected to not like the combo. I think the golden musk is blending with the peach a bit, I can't pick it out and it's not mixing with the patchoulli I don't think. Category: Peach/Dirty Fruit Rating: 4.5/5; Perfect for early summer or any time in the summer. For stinky hippies AND girly girls. Overall: I like this scent a LOT more than I origionally thought I would. I love BPAL's peach notes, they are so juicy and sweet and fresh and gorgeous. This could be a lovely summer scent for me.

Imp: Chlorinated pool. Strong lemon without all the yellow, can tell where the leather note is, hiding behind the lemon. I can smell grease and gas like in a truck garage, very nice. Wet: More pleasant than chlorine. Lemon again, turning into Lemon Pledge but morphing to something more subtle like lemonade. Umm, leather? Where'd you go? Dry: And it's gone. Entirely gone not even 10 minutes later. Checked back with my arm and wow. Smells very faintly of man, straightup sweaty man but in that sexy way. If it amps up this on the SO, it's completely his. Category: Manly Rating: 2/5; not strong enough, no staying power Overall: I'm not going to wear it as it did nothing on my skin, barely even showed up. Someone else can try it, I'll give it to the boy for fun.

Imp: crisp, sweet, clean, fruit, citrus, ozone on first sniff. A sharp citrusy smell at first Wet: STRONG bittery-sweet citrus, like Glade plugin. Morphs to a soft cottony top note, Linden Blossom, I'm sure of it. Reminds me of the Febreze stuff my SO has, but it is pleasant. Dry: Oooh! This is pleasant citrus, very sweet and pure. It reminds me of sunshine and clotheslines and bright grass and fields. Clean and fresh! Category: Clean/Linden/Citrus Rating: 3.5/5; this has staying power and throw Overall: It reminds me of an aunt's farm where they have a few buildings full of old equipment and fields of fresh growing wheat and kittens taking refuge in an old falling-apart truck. It's a solidly clean blend. ETA: After 2 1/2 hours of wearing the scent through heavy labor, it stuck and it smells AMAZING! It's slightly fruity and citrusy and clean all in one. It's like a peach and a watermelon rolled into one with the subtleness of a slight spring breeze. GREAT! I now rate it 4/5 due to staying power and prettiness.

Imp: DARK chocolate or Guiness, take your pick. Very dry. I swear this just made my ears pop. Something sweet but unconventionally so underneath. Wet: chocolate, I think. Very faint now, wtf? Might just be the wind. Sandalwood! Slightly warmed chocolate with sandalwood floating in it. Warm and earthy, very nice. Dry: Oh WOW.This is very dark. This is milk chocolate cocoa with sandalwood. It's amazing how the sandalwood makes the chocolate so dark and rich for the milk chocolate part. Category: Sandalwood/Chocolate/Food Rating: 4/5; Solid, gorgeous, warm Overall: I love the way this scent really pops on my skin and works with my other smells. This would be LOVELY in a cocoa butter base for a conditioner. This is another foody smell I may actually wear again.

Imp: DRY! Cocao, chocolate, fruit, dark chocolate. Very complex. Wet: Like a fruity chocolate, nice dark cocao, sweet, strawberry chocolate? Dry: This is VERY interesting! It's a mixture of chocolates and the fruit is softer. It's very soft overall. Category: Food/Chocolate/Fruit Rating: 4/5; Nicely rounded and comforting Overall: I like the blend very much, it's very soft and gentle at the end. I'm sure my body will amp some of the other notes eventually but I'm happy with this combination. Would wear again, even though it is a food blend.
-
Imp: Vetiver, something citrusy, a wood. Can't pick out anything very clearly. Wet: Cinnamon? Vetiver still there, wet and musty wood, citrus has morphed darker, probably because of the cinnamon. Dry: A nice pink welt on my arm, shit. Smells like cinnamon oatmeal, kinda nice. DEFINATELY cinnamon in here, probably what's now making me itch after 5 minutes. Shit! Category: Cinnamon/Vetivert Rating: 1.5/5; allergic reaction is bad, scent is little wierd. Overall: Would be sorta nice if you liked odd scents. The notes don't necessarily blend well together. I know it's a planetary blend so it's not meant as a straight perfume like most others. Could work for my purposes in a burner. And now that I read others' posts, I realize that it's the cinnamon and PINE making me itchy. Dammit! I wanted to love this blend!

Been a while since this post has had new blood. Ode on Melancholy is gloriously sandalwood on me. White musk and white sandalwood with a little high citrus floral kick. A new favorite for me.

This is based on scent alone right now. From the bottle: it smells smoky and resinous with a supposedly unpleasant scent underneath. It's supposed to be unpleasant but it works nicely in the blend. It reminds me of Hymn in a very strange way, and I LOVE Hymn. On the skin: that unpleasant scent comes out more fully. It's a sweet and bitter scent and it's damn strong. It mixes with the resin, though, to smell like plastic but in an okay way. On drydown: There's got to be tonka in this blend or everything slows down to imitate it. Not entirely unpleasant, I'm pleased! It's hard to be charismatic when people are gagging on your perfume. Hopefully it works when I'm around people because I'm by myself right now. Anyone think I type charismatically? ETA: I forgot to add that this really does smell delicious! It's SO MUCH like a GC scent I've tried and loved when dry, I think it may be Mata Hari... and YES that's it! There's a green and resin underneath the tonka but it's not gross like I usually would think. Now I'm really hoping it'll make me more eloquent.

Wow this scent is abrasive! Not a scent-only perfume for two reasons now. I used this to help myself keep on my path a few days ago and to follow through all the tasks I started. The downside was I couldn't stop making jewelry because I wasn't finished and was therefore late getting down to see my SO. Scentwise, this was awful on my skin. In the vial, it's minty and fresh and clean, reminding me of Tarot: The Star. There seems to be a light citrus in there as well as a sweet resin and patchouli. On the skin, it was overloading resin and the mint disappeared in the darkness of that resin. Usagewise, it worked, maybe too well. I dabbed some on my wrist during a quick ritual and it definately kicked my butt in gear to do things. I did everything I set out to do and then some so I was very happy with the blend. Scent: 2/5; Entirely unpleasant on the skin but okay in the bottle Usage: 4.5/5; perfect except for it made me do too much, will remember that for next time Imagery: None

I used this blend in combo with Concentration to help me focus on a Calculus test and studying for the test. I didn't get it until the test was about 4 days away, but I felt prepared. Scentwise, minty, sweet and grassy. Something like civet, I think, too. Doesn't remind me of anything I've ever smelled before. Usagewise, I believe it helped me. I did use it only WITH Concentration but I do believe it helped me. I prayed quickly before I biked my way over to class and applied the scents to a pad for my scent locket then applied it to my wrists. I studied a final time with it in a quiet coffeeshop, then reapplied right before the test. During, I felt like nothing could distract me, I felt like I was on top of my game for whatever problems I understood. Scent: 2.5/5; odd, unfamiliar, neutral Usage: 5/5; I understood very clearly what I already did, I was able to ace the questions I definately knew how to do Imagery: 3/5; Lack of imagery in general but I was able to vivdly picture the problems.

I used this blend in combo with Clarity to help me focus on a Calculus test and studying for the test. I didn't get it until the test was about 4 days away, but I felt prepared. Scentwise, it's chock full 'o mint and black tea. It's like drinking women's toning peppermint tea, soothing and nice. Usagewise, I believe it helped me. I did use it only WITH Clarity but I do believe it helped me. Scent: 4/5; comforting and pleasant Usage: 4.5/5; almost perfect, besides the random "I have no clue what I'm doing, I'm in waaaay over my head!" thoughts Imagery: 4/5; with sniffing... None, nothing, zilch; with use... but that's a good thing.

Temple of the Horned God
PixieSkull replied to aidenraine's topic in Temple Blends & Ceremonial Oils
I am a Pan-o-phile so this was the perfect Temple blend for me. My intent was to bless my Pan house and statue and annoint objects, and it works WONDERFULLY! Pan seems to love this scent and is very pleased, I think. The smell is very masculine and deep and dark, damp woods. It lasts a long while on objects, too. I got transported to a clearing in a wooded area with a large stone in the center-ish. I can smell the earth and the trees and pine and incense/resin and dark green, maybe a small clear stream nearby. It's very beautiful and brings strong images to mind. I did a Beltane ritual before the actual day due to vacation and inability to properly celebrate that day. I annointed the Pan house and the Pan statue for sacred space for him to inhabit and I think he has thoroughly made it his home and invited me into the space (the clearing with the stone) as a thank you. It was amazing how quickly I felt his prescence. I also anointed a necklace I had made from a ring that my SO bought me as a token of his love with a drop of TotHG to bring in passion and lust and holy shit did it work well! There was plenty of outdoors amour that night... and all through the next. Overall, this scent is one that I will cherish for a long time. Since I only have an imp now, I may be looking for a partial bottle or buy a full one for spray use (for meditation) and anointing and burning and everything else I can use it for relating to ritual. Smell: 4/5; pine doesn't love me, but I can overlook that Usage: 5/5; the MOST effective blend I've ever used Imagery: 5/5; overtook me immediately -
I haven't been using my locket much, I admit, but ONLY because I have Xiuhtecuhtli in spray form now. These bottles are my lifesavers, really. I've been thinking about the playdoh thing and how it affects different people. To me, the chemical smell of playdoh is the dirty-kid-hands-AND-playdoh scent, to some it's just the newly-opened playdoh smell. For some reason vanilla and tonka both turn into plastic like modeling clay and new rubber/plastic dolls. Then honey doesn't seem to want to behave on my skin, turning to slightly-clean playdoh half of the time (curse you, Queen Mab, for being so beautiful the other half of the time!) But almond scents are PERFECT on me, no playdoh. Sure, they fade to a powdered sugar-covered almond cookie, but it's still almond. Odd the different variations of the same smell are so different in feel. I don't mind that tonka doesn't behave on my skin, it smells like plastic fresh to me anyways. Now if sandalwood starts to go wonky on my skin, hoo boy will that really piss me off.

Almond turns to playdoh? Makes sense with Snow White and possibly Spooky. Spooky was horrible on my when it turned to dough. The first time I tried it, it was lovely. Then the second and third were playdoh. I think honey did that to me in Queen Mab a few weeks ago, due to hormonal changes. Oh well, I'll deal. I have a scent locket and alcohol to make sprays so I will be fine.

Imp: Apple and leaves. I'm so reminded of Hamadryad that it was a flash of images of autumn when I sniffed the imp, wow. Wet: Nice, juicy apple. The herbs seem to be coming out, cool herbs. Dry: Generic sweet dirty apple, not much to write about. Faded quick Category: Apple Rating: 2/5; nice, but generic Overall: I wouldn't wear this to smell great, I would wear it to layer with something darker and less sweet. It's a nice blend for those that love the smell of apples, I don't like that smell.
-
Imp: Fruity, but with a dark edge. Some watermelon and wine and berries with a dark tinge underneath. Wet: The wines definately come out here. The throw is VERY strong on this blend, which is great for me. Sweet fruit still on top. There is a little bit of dust and decay but not too much, it's very subtle. Dry: It turned to powder, pure powder on me. How wine turned into powder is beyond me, although I do suspect one of the fruity scents to being the powdery substance or a resin is hiding in the blend. Category: Wine/Dark fruit Rating: 2.5/5; Beautiful at first but turns to powder Overall: I absolutely loved this wet. It's the softer, more innocent version of Blood Rose that will get you noticed but won't make you smell like a head shop. I'm going to try this again because I want to make sure it really did turn to powder on me.
-
Imp: Marzipan? Resin, maybe amber. Something similar to neroli or orange. Wet: First it's straight marzipan then some spices come through. These are like cinnamon and sweet bread smells. Incense, too. Dry: The marzipan tones down and the spices are milling about on my skin. The resin isn't turning to powder on me, so that is good. Category: Spice/Marzipan Rating: 3/5; surprisingly wearable Overall: I didn't expect to like this scent, really. La Petit Mort didn't work on me and I saw that they were very similar blends on me, I suspect the resin in LPM was the cause. While it's not a scent I'm going to hold above all others, I respect that it is the scent named for the company and that it does smell very nice.

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here
PixieSkull replied to ipb's topic in Recommendations
Dragon's Heart, BLOOD ROSE and Wanda all smell like sex to me. I think it's mostly the sweet resins that smell like sex to me, like dragons blood resin. Definately if there's musk and wine involved. The leather in Wanda is slightly kinky to me and Dragon's Heart is musky and feral and animalistic. Blood Rose smells like everything involved in sex (i.e. condoms and lube and sweat and drunkenness and soap from the shower beforehand... or sex in the shower.) Damn that's a good scent! -
Imp: A familiar and comforting scent. It's like bread dough and honey. This may be a foody scent that I will keep. Wet: There's a patch of ground scent immediately, then the honey comes and wafts through the clearing. Nice, thick slices of bread covered in butter and honey... mmmm... Dry: Very soft and comforting. The honey died down a bit, which is a good thing, and the grains stay warm and soft and fluffy. The dirt circle and grass come through, the wafting food scents are moving on to other places. Category: Foody/Grain/Honey Rating: 4/5; PERFECT for the queen of the fairies, and a lovely foody scent Overall: I was surprised by this scent. The first application made me very happy and I felt comforted. It was like a blanket made of fluffy straw and such. While the honey was slightly overpowering at first, it did mellow and the ground and grass scent was able to come out a bit. It smelled like crusted bread and honey by the end, something I can envision clearly when I sniff at my arm.

Imp: Fresh ice tea with lemon juice squirted in it. There's some sort of plant stalk sticking out of it like an umbrella in a tropical drink. Relaxing on my grandpa's porch, watching the sun set after playing in the garden. Wet: The tea in this blend is VERY true to the scent of ice tea. I can definately feel the white musk but can't smell it outright. The aloe and tea are the strongest notes, they're very cool and really do smell like formaldehyde, without the gagging decay underneath. Dry: The aloe dries down and is very soft. The tea and lemon are gone, the ice tea is done and the aloe has dried out. I can still taste the drink on my tongue and I can smell my own skin, the greenery and sweat are there. Category: Clean/Crisp Rating: 4/5; This is amazingly close to embalming fluid, without the decay and bile. Overall: I like this blend a lot. It reminds me of Kumiho, but vaguely. Kumiho has a chilly overall feel like iced tea where Embalming Fluid has a feel of warm ice tea on a lukewarm or hot day. I don't think it will replace Kumiho on my list of favorites because I love the ginger tinge to Kumiho. Overall, a lovely and crisp scent. I think it would be perfect for spring and early summer.
-
Imp: Reminds me of Mata Hari without the spice. Had it pegged for vanilla immediately. Wet: Vanilla and jasmine. POSITIVE it was jasmine. Nice vanilla floral. Dry: Sweet, now I can smell the tea rose nicely, the vanilla has faded into a warmth and jasmine is barely clinging on. Category: Vanilla/Jasmine Rating: 2/5 Overall: Nice scent, great throw, longer lasting (4+ hours is amazing on my skin.) Not my kind of everyday scent. Vanilla and jasmine fans will love it, though.
-
Imp: Bitter almond + cinnamon + neroli = marzipan pastries Wet: The marzipan is still there, but the neroli comes out a bit more to give a distinctive floral feeling to the scent. The cinnamon (thankfully) isn't coming out on it's own on me. Dry: This became more and more floral as the neroli matured. The cinnamon came out a little bit more creating a spicy feel. It was hard to picture this as the dark side of fire when all I wanted was to pick up some marzipan pastries at the bakery. Category: Marzipan/Cinnamon/Bakery Rating: 3/5 Overall: I like this scent for it's gourmand properties but that's also why I'm not a huge fan. I love almond so I may give this another try, but I'm not sure. Conflagrant is a good way to describe this scent, so that will be my defining word on the matter.
-
Imp: The mixture of scents screams WINE! to me. I can smell the black cherry very heavily and it's a little weighed down by the vanilla. The amber is keeping the scent from being too sweet, as is the red musk. I can't pick either out right now, but I know where they are mixed together. Wet: Black cherry, STRAWBERRY and vanilla for sure right off the bat. There's another sweetness, the heliotrope. It's very fruity and nice so far. Dry: It smelled like stale cherry cigs to me at first but I think that was only because I wiped a lot of it off on my workshirt. The strawberry and vanilla stay beyond with the amber to give off a smoky fruity smell. Category: Dark fruit Rating: 3/5 Overall: The smell of cherry, strawberry and vanilla cigars minus the smoke would be this scent. Imagine a bunch of older men smoking these flavored things in a room where smoke doesn't exist, that's what I did. I like it a bit, even though fruity scents aren't really my thing. I don't wear candy scents all that well.
-
Imp: Black tea, white mint, sweet and damp floral Wet: Smells dirty at first. The mint isn't playing very well with the palmarosa and white sandalwood. Don't think I'm liking the mint in this one. This is chilly and white, for sure. Dry: This didn't last very long at all. Odd. It turns into a light floral with slight mint, a warm mint. Category: Toothpaste mint Rating: 1.5/5; didn't last, mint was not pleasant Overall: I wanted to like this scent a lot, but it didn't work out. The mint was not the kind I was expecting, the blend was like a mint tea. Female Toner tea, really, but not as pleasant. I don't think I'll give this a third chance.

Imp: Condensed sweetness, sortof buttery, some sort of white fruity scent. Wet: This is dirt mixed with marzipan, must be what the white fruite scent turned into. There's got to be some sort of amber or frankincense in here. Dry: This smells like a spicy, buttery fruit tart. Category: Foody Rating: 2/5 Overall: This was an okay scent, but lackluster for me. I'm not a gourmand person so this was partly lost on me. Didn't smell great on me or my mister. I'm sure someone else will like this more than I have.
