In the imp: White and green, like spring. There's a sweet floral, like carnation. So THIS is what narcissus smells like! I can smell green leaves as well. It smells like my grandparents' back yard, very lovely and gender-neutral. Wet: Lots of soft floral and something that reminds me of Kumiho, like white tea. Very crisp and clean. Smell some light greenery, rose greenery. Dry: Still crisp, lasts very well. Faded slightly from what it was before. Category: Clean/Soft Floral/Crisp Rating: 4/5, so gentle and non-agitating Overall: Pride in the garden, green thumb pride. This is so nice and clear, it reminds me of Ace of Hearts after wearing it for a few hours crossed with Kumiho worn for 30 minutes. Floral but not girly, good for professional occasions. The rose itself wasn't apparent until drydown was ending but the greens were very clear.

In the imp: Deep and rich! Holy decadence! I'm getting dragon's blood resin or wine, thick and stinging musk, and some other notes I can't quite pick out. A resin I can't name but I know it's there. Wet: Dirty DBR, smothered in a dark musk and what I'm assuming is myrrh. Dry: The same, but smells a bit more like plastic. I think the ylang ylang in it is causing the plastic smell about now. Not necessarily unpleasant, though. Category: Sexy/DBR Rating: 2.5/5, too much dirty in the mix Overall: The scent is okay, but I've smelled it before in the other sexual blends. The plastic scent was a little bit of a downer, but the myrrh just wasn't me. I think the red musk is a bit too powerful on me, anyways. Seems like this is the undiluted form of Mata Hari in some way on reflection.

In the imp: Something dry and musky and/or incensey. Sweetness like cherry, Dragon's blood resin. Slightly metallic, strangely enough. Wet: Dragon's blood resin for SURE, strong strong strong cherry. Incense in the background, trying to come out. So far not much clove noticable. Dry: The cherry does soften quite a bit and the myrrh blends very nicely with it. Reminds me a lot of Blood Rose but without the wine. Category: DBR/sexy/dark Rating: 3.5/5, very sexual blend Overall: A nicely mixed scent and it is very sexy and sexual, but I already have too many scents similar to it so it's not too special.

In the imp: Sweet, like marzipan. EXACTLY like marzipan pastries. Bitter almond and vanilla, makes sense to the nose. The cinnamon isn't noticable. Wet: Still marzipan and BEAUTIFULLY so... I love almonds. Can definately tell there is frankincense in here, it's underneath right now, hiding. Cinnamon just barely poking through. Dry: The marzipan scent becomes a little darker with the frankincense, but it is still lovely. The cinnamon doesn't come out really much at all in this blend, and I like that. Category: Foody/almond Rating: 4/5, lovely and dark at the same time Overall: Innovative blend and very delicious. I would wear it again, even though I'm not a foody scent person. I would use this as a room scent for meditation, though, clears the mind nicely. Better than the incense I already have.

In the imp: The buttery scent in all the pumpkins is present, but there's a dryness over the top that is indescribable. Wet: Again the buttery pumpkin with a sheet of something damp and/or wet on top. It's similar to a light floral but too dry for that. Like an autumn night. Dry: Something about this scent dry is instantly wierd and familiar. The familiarity is a moist towelette, but not the lemon ones, the baby ones. Underneat that scent there's a nice dark woodsy smell underneath that I do like. Something sweet on the tippy top blends with the buttery smell underneath for a foody scent. Category: Woodsy/dry forest/clean Rating: 2/5 Overall: Reminds me too much of wet wipes to truly enjoy. I also think my skin amps up the sweet wetness of ivy too much and burries the nice woods underneath everything else. Could be VERY sexy on a guy, may pass it on the the boy for a test.

In the imp: Buttery, yes, but woodsy and dry underneath. Like standing outside in a foresty area and smelling some wonderful pastry smells wafting out of someone's window. Wet: Still buttery, and it's delightful. I don't like the smell of butter but I'm assuming this is the buttery pumpkin smell. The dry woods peek out a little and the mixture is very soft and like roasting something on an open fire with carved poker sticks. DEFINATELY sandalwood, and I love it. Dry: Oh wow! The sandalwood and buttery pumpkin together are delicious now. As with the other pumpkin blends, the buttery smell fades a little and just becomes a rich backdrop for the other scents to play off of. Strong, too! Category: Dry woods/Autumn Rating: 5/5 Overall: I know I will have a use for this imp, I've found a nice somewhat woodsy scent that works on my skin. Sandalwood is lovely on my skin and the buttery pumpkin fading a bit quickly is a little sad but needed to let the orris and sandalwood blend properly. Without that, I would smell like I just walked through a pumpkin roast pit. I can't pick out the orris on it's own, but I think it's the slightly sweet wood sitting right atop the sandalwood almost blending in completely. May be asking the boy to try it, could be very sexy.

In the imp: Unmistakable pomegranite! Buttery scent underneath but not that strong compared to the fruit. Wet: Wow, fruity! Intense like Bubblicious gum, sticky sweet at first. Then the bitterness comes out to play and it's lovely, mixing with the bubblicious smell. Buttery scent not quite there yet, hope it comes out to play. Dry: The fruit is very full. The buttery pumpkin mellowed heavily and instead formed a solid base for the fruit to set on. While it still smells like gum, it's turned into Extra Wildberry(or whatever it's called) and is a more full fruit. Category: Fruit/Foody Rating: 3/5, just pomegranite and pumpkin Overall: Nice blend but smelled too much like a filled pastry to wear comfortably. The buttery and sweet-bitter smells mixed nicely together and were great compliments to each other.

In the imp: Buttery but dry on top, powdered cocoa and coffee beans. Caramel-chocolate cappucino with pastries baking. Wet: Rich as all get-out. The cocoa is still there and is joined by a rich nutty smell. Something sweet underneath that I assume is the pumpkin is making this smell like a wonderful cappucino creation. Dry: Rich and full and very delicious! The pumpkin fades but the buttery undertone still remains, similar to caramel. The cocoa and the hazelnut blend beautifully. Category: Chocolate/Nut/Gourmand/Winter Rating: 4.8/5, delicious and flawless Overall: Great for the holidays, great comforting scent, very delicious. While I wouldn't wear it every day, it is definately worth a wear when wishing for a coffee house scent. Only problem is that since it is a slightly foody scent, I may not wear it very often.

In the imp: Buttery with a juicy fruit underneath. Sweetness like apple pie or an apple tart. Wet: The fruit takes center stage, nice and juicy apple. Then the spices come out, lightly spiced. Just cinnamon and nutmeg. Like a Yankee Apple Spice candle or lukewarm apple cider. Dry: Very much a spicy apple scent after a while, the buttery pumpkin pretty much disappeared on my skin in this blend other than a rich afterthought. Category: Spiced apple/autumn/foody Rating: 2.5/5, won't wear again but nice for room scent Overall: It's a very warm blend and comforting like a down blanket and a cup of cider with a movie. Very much a Thanksgiving scent, though and too specific for everyday use.

In the imp: Musk and depth, beautiful. Somewhere behind is the vanilla. On me wet: Like Mata Hari without all the spices. Plasticy vanilla and musky vanilla combined. A little dirty but not badly so. On me dry: Dirty musk, I have no clue why the vanilla didn't last quite so long. Myrrh must be something my skin amps, because that's ALL I can smell now. Category: Spicy/Vanilla/Sex Rating: 3/5, Nice, not for me Overall: Overall it's an okay scent, but not necessarily special to my nose. I would like it more if it was a softer scent and there was less myrrh. I understand why so many people like this scent, it does seem quite sexy.

In the imp: Grape sugar syrup, deep and rich wine. Something very manly underneath, very pleasant. On me wet: I can smell musk and dirty leather and dirt on the ground and wine and baked sweets. Beautiful and something somewhere is minty. Can definately find the dragon's blood resin On me dry: Sweet and musky and rich. Drunken excess and horny horsemen is what I get from this scent. Category: Wine/Leather/Sex Rating: 4/5, Utterly wearable Overall: I love how the scent morphs from deep wine and a little bit of dirt to empty wine bottles and the lovely scent of dirty leather. The scent is so wearable and is like Wanda, but a more full version with lots more warm leather and smoke.

In the imp: Astringent but very sweet, like Gluttony's first impression on the nose. On me wet: Like white tea with peach, pretty much identical to it. Still a little herbal, but a soft and moist foresty herbal scent. On me dry: Powdery and almost completely gone. The herbs stick around so nicely it's a feminine moss scent. A tiny bit of the peach is still behind, but only when you stick the nose right to the spot. Category: Moss/Herbal/Tea/Autumn Rating: 3.5/5, Lovely scent but not very lasting Overall: A nice light scent, very comforting. Feminine without being too overwhelming. Very lovely. I would wear it if it lasted a little bit longer.

In the imp: Wow! Bubblegum, soft, pink in abundance! Can't pick out any specific fruit scents. On me wet: Tropical forest fruits, papaya strong, pineapple, MANGO! Still a little bubblegum, but Bubblicious. Mmm, tropical goodness! On me dry: Still a lovely guava-papaya-mango scent, softer and softer and still like fruity bubblegum. Oh wow that's beautiful! Category: FRUIT Rating: 4.5/5, Perfection in fruit scents Overall: I would wear this when I want to seem younger or more innocent. This would be perfectly blended with white musk and a deep resin. Would wear it once a month or so, experimenting with blending different oils. Very beautiful.

In/On the imp: Very orange with loads of raspberry but a slightly bitter scent underneath that I'm assuming is the neroli. As far as I can remember, I like neroli so I'm not so worried. On me wet: The neroli pops out far when wet, can barely smell the blood orange, but it IS there. The raspberry disappeared. Smells a little dirty. On me dry: The raspberry comes back and it's very sweet and like a plastic toy. The random whiffs are raspberry, up close it's all dirty and garlicy in a wierd way. Category: fruity/foody/sweet Rating: 3/5, nice but not for me Overall: Not a scent I will wear, mostly because of the garlicy smell, but also because I'm not a huge fan of wearing entirely foody scents. It smells wonderful in the imp and okay on me, but it needs to be mixed with chocolate and eaten. Wonderfully fruity and the orange is very realistic and sweet. Reminds me of Suave moisturizing shampoo.

In the bottle: Mmmm! Beautiful white musk, I can smell sharp ylang ylang, sweet tuberose for sure. The other scents are just generic flower at the moment. Not quite a champagne smell but an elegant alcohol. On me: Soft and powdery, but in a beautiful white musky way. I can smell the bubbles of champagne, a sweet and lovely bitter alcohol scent. It must be the white sandalwood that doesn't fully pop on my skin but lends a nice dusty undertone to the mix. Overall: Wow, this is feminine and wonderful, it reminds me of another scent I already have tried. I think it's similar to New Orleans without being super-sweet, or a deeper Arachne. On first sniff of the bottle it was DEFINATELY the white musk and sweet like Fae, but nothing like it at the same time. I really like this scent and it evokes images of dancing under a discoball and sipping something fruity and alcoholic. Very glam, add some glitter to it and it would be super-glam. I love it, so I'll probably keep i until I can't use it anymore. Love the artwork on the bottle, too.

In the imp: Dusty sweetness, something not very familiar, but I can pick out the vanilla under the sweetness. On me: At first the dust is all I smell and I'm assuming this is the cedar. Then it sweetens down to a Vanilla-scented cigar smell that I just don't quite like. Overall: The scent is okay, but not something I'd want to wear. The cedar smell turned me off and the vanilla was so amped up it was way too sweet for me. Think this will go to swaps.

In the imp: A lovely dragon's blood resin scent with a slight scent of vanilla extract. Very yummy Wet: Smells so creamy and milky, it's almost edible! Dry: So soft and somewhat spicy. Overall: I love the way this is such a sweet and inviting scent. I would love to have this around for times when I have to dress up and impress people and want to appear nice and sweet. My mom loved this one. Nice and soft and feminine but with a smoky undercarriage that is wonderful up close as well as wafting.

Best scents for performing, public speaking, anytime on stage
PixieSkull replied to Nia's topic in Recommendations
I've been going out of my mind in preparation of my final skit in my acting class. I need a scent that will make me do my best, and I'm going to make do with what I've got. My character is an uptight Jeopardy coach and I think I'm going to use Xiuhtecuhtli because I freaking love it and it could keep me thinking "old and uptight, expensive clothing, purpose in life." Anyone have an recs for what to wear when performing (as confidence boosters)? -
In the imp: Strong, sweet orange scent overpowering the background, there's a sweet and smoky note on top. This reminds me a tiny bit of Xiuhtecuhtli in that fashion. Uplifting sniffing from the imp alone. On me: I can smell the sugar slightly in the middle underneath an orange liquor scent. This doesn't necessarily smell like an autumn night like I would first think of it, but it does have a nice and crisp feeling (probably the citrus taking over) and it's very likable. Overall: I would definately use up an imp or two of this scent, it is VERY pleasing to smell little wafts of. I love the citrus scent in it, it wakes the senses and lifts my mood. Probably my favorite of all the 2005 Samhain scents.

In the imp: A sweet but smoky floral scent. It does seem to be less wet and more dry. On me: Lovely dry floral, one that is very similar to lilac but less sweet and very enjoyable. I can smell something slightly smoky in the background and it is rather nice and not obnoxious. surprisingly sweet blend, very lovely. Overall: I would definately wear this one again, it's very lovely and lightly feminine. I like the way the top floral note dominates in this and I've never smelled anything like it. I think my grandma would LOVE this blend as well. Only downside is that I may be allergic to some component because the back of my hand burns a little where I applied. May just be dry skin irritation, but I will retry the perfume in a few days or so.

In the imp: Very sweet and somewhat buttery, not pleasant. On me: The sweetness is less assaulting but still very sickening. I don't mind smelling sugar while I'm baking, but this is overkill and annoys my nose too much. Overall: Not me, another scent too much like gluttony where I get the dried baby urine scent. It is going away immediately.

In the imp: Super-icky-sweet butter and sugar mixture. Kinda gross, actually. On me: The same, but more like Karo syrup poured on my hand while baking. Does soften down a bit after a while, but still not so lovely. Overall: Too much like gluttony for me to like. While it did soften up, I still found it disgusting to wear. Not for me one bit.

A bottle of 2004 Snow White that I tried in December of 2005. In the bottle: Plastic, a slightly sweet plastic scent somewhat like playdoh. On me: Softens out to a plasticy coconut and super-soft floral immediately on my skin, much more pleasant than straight from the bottle. People say there's something fruity, and I can only slightly smell this a while later, right underneath what I sense is white musk. Overall: I like this scent, it's very soft and slightly chilly, not to forget I absolutely LOVE coconut scents. I think this is a very pleasant scent, I may keep the 5ml bottle I got off eBay.

In the imp: Honestly, I can't describe it at all. It's like a very rotten wood, soggy and moldy. On me: As I just described, very mossy and rotten and woodsy. Reminds me slightly of Dublin. Overall: Seeing as I hated Dublin and I'm not too fond of pine scents, this was a HELL NO scent for me. Grat for others that like the gritty forest scent, but I just don't like it at all.

In the imp: First whiff is resin, dirty and dusty resin. Screams out FRANKINCENSE! The slight sweet note in the background is very subtle but sugar-sweet. On me: Just like the imp, all resin and very little floral. Very cloying and not all that enjoyable. Overall: Not me in any shape, way, or form. Smell like a crappy record store filled with incense.
