this one encapsulates halloween joy, for me. at first - out of the bottle and while wet - it is very dark, sweet caramel or molasses mixed with hot buttered rum. drool-licious. then the maple syrupy sweetness dries down a bit, and the spices poke through...i'm not sure exactly which spices they are...like allspice or even cardamom thrown on a pile of smoking dried leaves. so damn nice. and to top it off there's a touch of soft, snuggly muskiness in there too. heavenly.

it smells great in the bottle, and right off the bat on my skin it's a fun, autumn spicy, zingy apple. i like it a lot. it fades a little bit quickly, and then the other scents seem to come out more - but i'm not sure which i'm smelling...maybe marigold? i don't know what all the things in this one smell like...it's a little unclear. but soft, and warm..."cozy" as some people have mentioned, if a little nondescript, after an hour or so. it does end up a bit floral, though very subtle. the initial apple/pear fruitiness is pretty great.

whoa, - i really like this one alot. once again, a freebie imp (thank you!!!) is an unexpected surprise, and goes into the favorite pile. i"m finding i really like citrus a lot, these days. this one smells like bitter grapefruit, which could be the kuzu, which tastes like lime as i recall. i'm not familiar with the two other japanese fruits. then, the sweet cherry blossom comes out - so pretty. i can barely smell the black tea...just a little. and the grapefruit - i mean kuzu (or is it yuzu? i'm getting confused...) is still going strong. and i'm a musician too - aren't we supposed to worship aizen-myoo? so it makes sense.

i loved the idea of this one, and always wanted to try it. so when i received a frimp recently (thank you lab...), i was really pleased. but unfortunately, it's just kind of a "blah" rose on me, with not much frankincense. pleasant enough, but not all that inspiring. still, i can appreciate the simplicity of it...

i'm having a problem with this one...it starts out good, with the dark rum/butterscotch/coconut thing, and i love it, although it's almost too syrupy sweet, which is a rare thing for me to say (i love sweet). but then, it goes into this other stage - which could be the tobacco, although i love tobacco, but, hmm..it's kinda cardboard-y woodchip-y. and i'm not so crazy about it. then it goes back to the coconut! i do kinda like this, but it's got a weird middle phase, for me.

freakskow is pretty damn delicious, IMO. it has so many wonderful things going on, especially at first - it smells like some kind of crazy dessert - cocoa, vanilla and fruit (i know it's fig and pomegranate, but i think i smell raspberry...) - anyways, it all seems to be stirring around in some sort of amazing frosting or whipped cream concoction, then it goes into this other less fruity, and much more musky phase, which is also incredible. a spicy musk with a dusting of honey-sweetness.. i can't even describe it, it's just..luxurious. i think i'm finally recognizing tonka - is it spicy? like dark, spicy vanilla??

i love this one a lot! it is really juicy and refreshing - a sharp, tart tangerine, or even kumquat! definitely more intense than plain old orange, although orange may be in there too...as far as moxie's effect - it got me through a rehearsal dinner tonight for a family wedding, and schlepping through pouring rain to get there. i think the tangy zip of moxie really helped push me through. as others have stated, it does fade quickly - but i don't consider this a bad thing;(some of the real long-lasters can be obnoxiously strong..). also, as it fades away, a soft, slightly spicy-sweet scent is left, which is pleasant (though not as exciting as the initial citrus explosion which is amazing!).

this was a frimp from a while back (muchos gracias dear lab...). i like this a lot - it has a very protective vibe to it. warm and masculine - the image i get is of knight's armor! it is metallic yet earthy... i keep thinking of the word "gunmetal" as in gunmetal grey. it is like an iron cauldron which has been buried in earth. there is also a sweetness...but tempered with metal. like a cast iron hammered metal bowl filled with honey and ash...

i got an imp of this recently as part of a trade (thanks latzoni!) - because i love h.p. lovecraft so very much...and i wanted to add to my SIA collection (which only consists of Mi Go and Miskatonic, both of which i love..) but alas: when i wear yog sothoth, it is just so "men's cologne"-y. damn. it is sharp, metallic and unfortunately not very pleasant. i guess it will remain some sort of lovecraftian relic, 'cause i doubt i'll wear it much....

this was a much-appreciated freebie imp. i just got around to seriously testing it and it's becoming one of those "addicting" scents. odd too, 'cause it's not the kind i usually gravitate towards. very sweet, crisp floral, yet thick and intoxicating. i've been wearing it to bed a lot, and in the morning it is still very strong. it is clear white flowers drenched in golden light. it is like a very clean white nightgown. it is youthful, but i am not sure it is innocent, in fact i think it is a very willful and treacherous-smelling scent. i'm not sure why...like the flowers are very luring...they put you in a stupor with their sweetness! then who knows what!?
-
this one has become so addicting. it's so sweet and rich (salt water taffy...sugary..vanilla...) yet light somehow - it's an airy sweetness, like spun sugar. what makes it for me is the butter, though - it's really buttery! salted butter. you know how when you make a dessert, like a custard, you're supoosed to put a pinch of salt in (also with hot chocolate..), and that somehoe enhances the sweetness. yes! that's what makes midway so good! it's really a happy, carefree scent. adddiiiccttiinnggg....

the first sniff is very cherry-almond. same thing while wet: luden's cherry cough drops. this is not a bad thing, as i like the smell of cherry cough drops. but this smell goes away rather quickly, and is replaced by the woodsy smell - this was a real surprise to me. it's that same woodsy smell as i detect in cathedral and coyote: the one that reminds me of stone, or wet cement. i really like it. i dunno how it starts out so cherry, and ends up that yummy incense-y stone smell, but i like it a lot.

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

sheesh, i wish in knew which scent knocked men off their feet. almost all the compliments i receive are from gals. the last guy to compliment me (he is gay, so no dice in the romance dept.) on my scent, he was smelling akuma. -
oh yeah. black opal is very special. i guess it is musky...i think i have a hard time identifying musk, but perhaps that's what it is. because it is sen-su-al. yes. it's warm, it's spicy, it's vanilla-y, maybe. actually i don't have the faintest idea what's in it, but it's very soft and sexy, with great throw, as mentioned above. a bit peppery and effervescent, yet smooooth. love it. it's dark, but welcoming.

this is sweet and cinnamony on me. a bit candy-like. i like it...i'm not sure how it relates exactly to the idea of "fiery command"...it feels almost too pleasant, happy and playful to be seriously "commanding". but i haven't really experimented with it yet. i guess the cinnamon is "fiery". i would like to try this for extra will-power, when i need help "sticking to my guns". it is a nice scent...for some reason, reminds me a bit of snake charmer. (?)

for me, this oil definitely has an odd power. smell-wise, i get the mint, with something warm and sweet underneath that i can't identify for sure, but i keep thinking "coconut". i get a "male" feeling from this - is "orunla" male? i feel his presence with this oil...the oil "found me", rather than the other way around, as i had never heard of it before, but "took to it" while at the BB. as far as "magical" use...for me, it has the effect of making me search inward...looking inside myself for truths, relating to my "path". not to get all heavy or weird, but that's what it represents to me when i wear it. when i read the information above about "curing mental illness" and "divination" etc., i thought this was pretty interesting. i'll use it to try to get clarity on some things i've been confused about.
-
damn, this is a good one. real sweet, warm and amber-y. the oil has a slight amber tint to it, which you can see on your skin - a reddish brown. and that is how the scent feels too - a warm, spicy, reddish-brown. it's nicely spicy at first, and sticks around all day, with a slow and gradual sweetening up...so the patchouli (if that's what it is), which is strong at first, gets less spicy as the vanilla and hint of coconut come in to play. it's very sensual, but in a totally comfortable way. could be addicting.

i love the parts in lovecraft's stories that take place at miskatonic university, so i had to get this one. i do like it. it's like everybody says - kaluha, bailey's irish cream, etc. - but honestly, i get more of a butterscotch or a maple scent, more so than coffee. sometimes it's hard to figure out when to wear this scent. i like it in the morning, on the way to work. it's a good way to start the day - i can't see wearing it out at night, for some reason. anyway - here's another thing - it's a good scent to cover up an oil you don't like - if you try a new scent and don't like it, this one neutralizes it, and covers it over with the butterscotch/ coffee niceness.
-
ick - this one doesn't work on me at all. it's weirdly sweet in this earthy, grassy way. - way too much patchouli is what i'm getting, pretty much wiping out the apricot, and reminding me of a "fig"-type smell, which i don't like. also has a "hair salon-chemical" smell - like dyes and perm solutions. oh well.
-
i really like this one a lot. i'm not sure what i'm smelling (note-wise), i guess it's the tobacco, but whatever it is, it's dark, warm and old-fashioned. definitely smells of roots. bitter, medicinal roots stored in a leather satchel, with a touch of bourbon! there's something masculine here, as in a man in a dusty top hat with a moustache selling bottles of this stuff off the back of a wooden caravan. it's somehow dark in tone, but light - that is, not overwhelming. reminds me of the old west or something.
-
once again, this was a freebie imp (THANK YOU!!) that i probably would never have gravitated to. and once again, i love it. it has somethng in it that cathedral also has - not sure which note, but it's the one that reminds me of stone - wet pavement or cement, and it is incredibly nice. in the morning ( i wore it to bed)...there was a lovely amber smell remaining, which is i guess what it dries down to on my skin. also: i dreamed of animals - a white snowy owl, actually, with little brown spots. coyote is comforting - like having protective animals around you.
-
oh man, this is soooo nice. out of the vial i got sweetness and wine at first...reminded me almost of wanda, or other sweet/wine scents. but on the skin, it is quite another story...something resin-y or smoky comes out, making it a bit ominous, but not dismal. like charcoal. embers. burnt love letters. it darkens the sweetness, but doesn't obliterate it. really wonderful and unusual.
-
oh yeah, i like this one. at first it's a definite almond extract/marzipan smell. love it. the almond fades quickly and here comes some cinnamon! nice. i actually wish that strong bitter almond smell kept going. but i do love the sweet heliotrope in there. very smooth. sweet, a little spicy. not incredibly exciting, but pleasant and cozy. like this: a snuggly caramel-colored mohair sweater (turtle-neck) on the first crisp fall day. (?).

this is a strong, thick, heavy, actually GOOEY oil. when i first tried it, i couldn't remember what was in it, i kept thinking "patchouli" , 'cause it had a sort of "dirty hippy" feel to it. but man, i've decided i really like it! i love violets, yet i barely smell them in this, i just smell what i suppose is the vetiver, but it's different than "normal" vetiver - it's a little wilder! kinda dirt-like or animalistic, as people have mentioned. saturnalia had a weird effect on me - made me sort of aggressive, and extra- opiniated ( not really in a bad way), it just brought out some sort of "warrior" side of me. hmmm. when the wild vetiver calms down (5 hours later?!?) - i can smell more violet. i like this one lots.
-
i just love this one. i'm a sucker for black currant, although i agree there's a grape soda thing going on, or bubblegum or whatever. but i don't mind that! i love it. i don't think it's as childlike as some of the reviews would lead you to believe. there's a womanliness there too. i like wine. i like berries. i like tart sweetness, i guess. i doubt i'll get a bottle, 'cause i already have enough fruity scents for now, but i think lady macbeth is a fun one.
