whoa! straight from the bottle, this one is intense!! heavy, heavy, intense vetiver - i love it! on my skin it is extremely earthy and bitter - feral - smoky, yet soft at the same time - dark, and i think well blended - almost equal parts vetiver, patchouli and the smoked ginger. - it's rather peppery actually, like a black pepper, tho that's not one of the notes... the musk and amber take a while to appear, but when they do, this blend just "heightens". the pomegranate is barely dectable. this almost smells like tar/burnt rubber - and quite a lot like leather. it's a dark one! sensual and strong. love it.

The Arrival at the Sabbath and Homage to the Devil

from the bottle, this is crazily rich and deep, more like butterscotch than caramel, to my nose. on my skin it reminds me somewhat of miskatonic u (which also reminded me of butterscotch..) - but there is something more "shining" in the background, which i'm guessing is benzoin - ever so slightly metallic, is the only way i can peg it. a touch of sandalwood? maybe...it's true, as others have noted, it's 90% caramel and vanilla, and damn hard to sort out the carnation or iris...even the patchouli is somewhat drowned out..but i still love it! much in the same way i love sugar skull, or misk. u...but i do think this scent has a certain shining quality, as i said, in the background - esp. as it dries down...from the benzoin, and the iris which appears late in the game - and which elevates it from "just another foody" scent. this one is really royal! -
i'm thinking la fee vert, maybe, for new years eve... eta: it's now new year's eve and i'm wearing: black moon! happy new years bpalers!
-
i also wore haloa to a christmas eve party. for christmas - i don't remember! maybe nothing? (shameful, i know..) for new years eve - last year i wore stardust, but i had a shitty new years eve, so i don't want to wear that one again. maybe mme moriarity?

this one sounded so amazing to me, but somehow it's not working on my skin...it smells very grape juicy out of the imp - not a bad thing - and mixed with rich wine...but there's one very sweet note - which becomes more apparent on my skin...i dunno what it is..honey? there's something almost sickly sweet - a fruityness, a floweriness that borders on over-ripe. it's weird, there's something i like about this too..it just goes a little too far in the candy-sweet direction, when it hits my skin. i do enjoy the tobacco, tho, and i'm gonna keep trying this - maybe my chemistry's just weird at the moment...

another frimp from the lab - it smells like some kind of fresh garden flowers from the imp, kind of sunny and pleasant, and slightly grassy...i can't place this flower, but i like it - sort of tropical, or from the south. what is it?? gardenia or magnolia...something pretty intoxicating. this is not the type of floral i usually wear (hell, i don't even know what it is..) - but i'm finding myself rather drawn to the smell. it is a little intense - sharp, almost chemically - so i'll have to see how i react after having it on for a while, but so far i kinda like it, despite it's oddness. it is exotic, feminine and mysterious. also a bit soapy. but i must test its "voodoo powers" as well, one of these days.

a frimp from the lab and -- mmm, it's so nice! cinnamon candy-ish, but more complex than sraight-up big red...there's something else mixed in that makes it very intriguing and mysterious, and unfortunately, sort of hard to describe - almost honey-like, or amber-y, like a burnt-sugar brittle with lots of cinnamon and cloves...sort of a brown sugar smell? i dunno - i'm stumped. but it smells delicious and enticing, and i will definitely try out the voodoo part of it, when i get the opportunity.

i've been dying of curiosity to try this one, and now it's finally here! it's less orange-y and more sweet amber, than i was expecting. sort of soft, candy-powdery, some sort of blossom, maybe orange blossom or frangipani that i'm a little scared by - i think maybe frangipani is sweet in a way i don't like - too heady, or something. on my skin, it smells more shining and golden-orange, still a little more flowery than i was expecting, with less orange-y tanginess than i was hoping for. i do smell a bit of the frankincense and the saffron (lovely), and the amber..it's a very interesting scent, just not exactly what i was imagining...i was expecting something deeper, i guess, whereas this one is more feminine and flowery on my skin, and somewhat tropical, with a bright, almost metallic feel! i do like it enough that i think this one will grow on me. next day: trying this again, and i dunno - it's too bright and sharp for me, i guess. too clean for me.

i just love this - i'm a real sucker for this type of scent, and want to have every variety and permutation of its kind...in the bottle it is rich, dark and buttery - like butterscotch, dark passover wine, and dark dried fruits (this reminds me of a cake i make...but i digress) like prunes and raisins. on my skin, somehow the alcohol comes out even more...something sharp and woodsy is beginning to appear..the resins and the spices -almost peppery in its sharpness - it's got a nice spicy "bite", in the midst of all that sweet, syrupy dark fruit-cake vibe. everything blends really well, the resins are mixed in very comfortably, the olive lends a beautiful earthiness. this seems to work well with my chemistry, ultimately ending up spicy and woodsy with just a hint of the yummy cake.

snow flakes is very cool and watery. if someone extracted cucumber juice, chilled it, put an infusion of peppermint and spearmint leaves in it, as well as some delicate flower petals, that would be snow-flakes. it's very clean, lighter and sharper than snow white, and not as creamy, tho there is a touch of vanilla it seems..very delicate, with, for some reason, a japanese feel to it...like i imagine a japanese landscape, w/ sno-capped mountains in the distance. i think this is wintery, but the end of winter, when snow is melting and a bit of green is beginning to appear. the first hints of spring. there's some sort of evergreen or fir tree smell too. it's lovely - outdoorsy yet delicate - not very long-lasting, but lovely nonetheless.

The scent of sacred incense swirling up the steep slopes to Swayambhunath Stupa. Saffron, blessed sandalwood, Himalayan cedar and the miraculous lotus of the Buddha with chiuri bark and Nepalese spices. a frimp from the lab...let's see...it reminds me of lemony almonds when i sniff it out of the imp. on my skin, it's cedar-y, warm and cool at the same time - like wintergreen, a bit. smells a lot like carpathian mountains actually, which i like. i like this fine, but it's not a scent i'll probably wear often (not particularly sensual or sexy) - it's uplifting tho, a mixture of woodiness and wintergreen - outdoorsy, but quiet and soft. maybe a bit lacking in pizazz, i'm afraid, but pleasant enough - especially if you like wintergreen-like smells (i do.)

another lovely frimp from the lab, and i'm just loving this. sharp yet intriguing in the imp, on my skin it really sweetens, and reminds me at first of almonds, honey and dust. very shortly after, the clove comes out in a big way, along with the cinnamon - it's got a little bit of three witches going here, but with this lovely golden honey sweetness in the background. i just love this - it's like a spicey, gingery dessert, and - wow. glad i got to try this; it's delightful.

this was a frimp from the lab, and i'm really liking it - lots of cedar at first, it is still very soft, warm and sweet. the leather comes out strongly, a la loviatar, which i also love - and it is a very rich, sexy scent. a bit of vanilla, a bit of lavendar - i suppose this scent could be considered gentlemanly, but i'm just enjoying it thoroughly, finding it sexy and snuggly like a big leather armchair.

wow - this smells weird in the bottle - very bitter to my nose, and just a little "off", like citrus peel that's been sitting around. on my skin, it's much better, tho still quite odd. it's like a medicine made from grapefruit peel and herbs. - i quite like it! very unusual, dark, and evocative - it's rather woody, like an old wooden cabinet that's been polished with grapefruit oil. after a bit, the blackberry comes out, and i see that this is the note i've been trying to identify. a morpher, this one - now it's mostly blackberry within a cloud of soft poppy. like this a lot - after shying away from some too-sweet scents lately, i really appreciate bitter moon's bitterness!
-
this is an intriguing scent - but something's a bit off with my chemistry here...there's something almost too light, sweet and powdery about it - and i want more of the deep purple grapiness, beneath it. i'm curious as to what note is giving me difficulty - orris and violet are usually not a problem? could it be wisteria? i hope not, 'caue it's one of my favorite plants. anyway, as the scent dries down, it does get a little more fruity/plummy/figgy - and it's nice - but there's something old-ladyish too, and at the same time - baby cologne too. hmm. i haven't written this one off yet, but i gotta try it some more, and see if it grows on me.

i got a bit of this as an extra goodie in a package from the lovely thursdae - i didn't think to try it otherwise, 'cause it just sounded kinda not that exciting. but it turns out i like it! it smells like harvest moon when wet - tart, sharp apple cider. but the cranberry makes it even sharper and tarter (tarter? is that a word?). i'm finding i like cranberries, judging by this and jersey devil. there is also something dark and mellow lurking beneath the apples, almost like an oak barrel, or dried leaves. nice and autumnal! then this one gets the slightest bit perfumey, though not at all soapy, which is a relief. i dunno, i'm quite enjoying this! who knew? it's basically apples 'n' spice, and it's fairly straightforward, but it seems to work well on my skin. yay!

whoa - this is so different than the last formulation - it smells great in the bottle - chocolate and lavendar, and i love this combo. on my skin, it turns much more perfume-y - it starts off somewhat complex, with a sort of bright, citrusy chocolate, but then turns gradually more floral, with the chocolate disappearing rapidly, and i smell fruitiness - the starfruit, perhaps. dry, it ends up a bit dusty (as did the old 13) but also creamy and musky. sort of like a dusty Underpants, but still soft and pleasant, and the fruitiness has remained. it's rather subtle on me, actually. i like it, although i think the other one worked better w/ my chemistry. still, this is an interesting one, and i will definitely wear it.

wow! i like this! this was a frimp from the lab, and one that i never thought to try - it is foresty - trees, evergreen trees...a bit turpentine- y, but i like that. it seems to sweeten up and soften, just slightly, the longer i wear it. it's got quite a bit of energy to it - invigorating, like the wolf running through the trees. not sure how much i'll actually wear it, but i do enjoy the scent quite a bit. it wakes you up!

a bright, vivid, sweet smell. not sure if i like it at first...i am smelling things i like, and things i don't like - something kinda funky..could that be the gardenia? i am not sure. something cheerful and lemony - like lemon tea is present - the tea rose maybe? and the vanilla kinda ties it all together, but not quite - there is something which still doesn't gel together with this scent on my skin - it's got some conflicting notes or something. this was a frimp from the lab, and i like that it represents "mirth" - it is a cheery little scent, but i'm not sure how much i'll wear this one - not sure it's me.

this, to me, is ridiculously good. a beautiful, vibrantly strong lavendar, tempered by this luscious toasted marshmellow, vanilla meringue smell. it's an unusual combination - on my skin i get mostly the lavendar, with the very smooth, warm and sweet vanilla, in the background. it's just a heavenly, yummy smell. tonight will be my first night testing it out on my sleeping, so i don't know yet how it will effect my problematic sleeping habits... but i can tell you now: it is just a lovely, comforting scent, and i'm glad to have something to alternate with my sleepy moon, as that is running low. will be using this a lot.

very light, very simple. it smells, brighter and fresher in the bottle - like a real garden, with stems and leaves, as well as petals - i love the lilac note. on my skin, the lilac is pronounced at first, which i love, but as it dries down it does eventually become rather light, and a bit soapy. the sandalwood gives a tiny spicy edge which adds interest. clean and crisp and lightly feminine, would be good for spring/summer nights or sleeping...the intitial lilac/lily phase is especially beautiful and peaceful.

frumious bandersnatch is wonderfully fruity and spicy - cinnamon-spiced plums cooking on a stove, sort of thing. i know it's not apples, but it's pretty yummy and quite fruity/juicy.

after reading so many bad reviews, i'm surprised that i actually kind of like this - it was a frimp from the lab, and a scent i don't think i ever even heard of. anyway, my review: this smells very *indian*, which i like - yes it is slightly sour, i suppose, but it also smells pretty exotic to me - not a floral i've often smelled. it reminds me of oils from india that i've smelled in some new-age-y bookstore type places. luckily, i don't smell a great deal of rose or jasmine - i'm guessing it's the frangipani i smell most, i dunno. it's a little spicy-incense-y... glad i got to try this unusual fragrance.

a frimp from the lab, and one i've been curious to try...it's very coconutty...and at first, i think i almost smell a bit of rum too. this goes slightly waxy on my skin, smelling a bit like a crayola crayon, but this phase doesn't last...the iris comes out quite nicely. i get only a touch of the hazelnut (reminds me a little of a mounds candy bar -yum!) and not much musk, which is too bad, 'cause that would make this scent more interesting. it's rather light, for some reason - i'm noticing coconut is sort of "shy" on my skin. this doesn't "wow" me, but i do like it, and will definitely use this imp now and again.

lionheart has a very gentle scent and feel, and i've been using it regularly since i got it. smell-wise, it is light and golden, but translucent too - i get primarily amber, but detect something slightly herbal (lavendar?) and something a little rosy - mostly light amber though...it reminds me of baby oil, but not in a bad way - this is gonna sound weird, but the baby oil smell is comforting, reminding me of being taken care of - i think of a mother lioness caring for me and protecting me. as to its effectiveness, it seems to consistently work, on a subtle level - for me this is not a blazing, roaring lion, but more of a strong and gentle one. it's given me an inner calm and strength, and the feeling that "things are gonna be ok", when i'm feeling worried or negative. very pleased with this one.
