Oh wow this is really beautiful. It is a floral but not a heady floral. I don't get a lot of rose out of it, maybe white rose, but more of a fresh light honeysuckle. Need a huge bottle of this!

Not as strong as Jezirat al Tennyn that one burnt my sinuses and I couldn't get it off no matter how hard I scrubbed. This is vetiver and wood, it's a wood smoke not a cigarette smoke. Something underneath is amping sweetness and it clashes with the lovely wood smoke. It ends up as sweet, perfumey wood smoke. Not for me.

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

Oh my Vanillary has Velvet Unicorn written all over it. -
Maybe weird place to post this but how do you get an unwanted scent off your skin? I have tried different soaps but some scents (Celeste ) just tend to stick around. Any recommendations?

This has been discontinued for a while now, it had time to age and it aged beautifully. Looking at the notes I don't think I would have liked it much fresh. Lex Talionis aged to a really smooth blend, the vetiver is only apparent in the wet stages. On dry down this becomes a balmy resinous cedar blend with the violet giving it a purple feel. Why do I have this on my swap page?

Delphi was very grapey on me, the notes say wine but it is grape!

Some kind of toilet cleaner ruined my scent association with pine and this is going the same way. It's basically a sharp pine scent with a bit of floral and hints of lemon. It stays that way on dry down. Unfortunately it is nothing like the prototype and I can't get over the toilet cleaner smell of this.

For some reason the White Rider was the first one I thought of too. -
Ginger scents & the different types of ginger notes
Monday replied to Lorna Brigid's topic in Recommendations
Vixen also has ginger in it: The innocence of orange blossom tainted by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli. After the first blast of the ginger it calms down into a really smooth scent, a bit like snake oil. -
On first sniff this is a faint moss and sandalwood. Wet on my skin I get a note that is so familiar to me I raked my brains and finally it struck: my imp of Delousing Powder! Wet this smells like the 'powder' in Delousing Powder only with patchouli instead of lemon. On dry down the moss comes through and it becomes more masculine while still keeping it's fluffyness. This will need a retest, but I'm glad that I have a bottle of it!

Well it's powder in liquid form! Wet this is a bit lemony but when it dries down it's powder, sweet powder! I kinda like it.

Haha I sometimes do themed frimp packages with swaps or sales, so much fun.

Um yes pretty much. I only get a CnS from USPS mail that it's shipped so yeah. -
This starts out pretty faint and I thought it would stay that way, boy was I wrong. This is a scent that hovers above your skin. It's a beautiful dry vanilla, I think the hemp adds to the dryness of the vanilla, with patchouli taking the back seat. Dry, sweet somewhat earthy. This is the closest a Bpal vanilla blend has gotten to smelling like cotton candy in my opinion. It has quite some throw and staying power!

Obatala was just awful, that boiled milk note blech. Goblin is a great earthy coconutty blend it reminds me a lot of how Lush' Jungle conditioner makes my hair smell. Tiki Princess was meh. The citrus and coconut blended together made me think of toilet cleaner. Sold it. Elegba, I didn't get any coconut from this. Courtesan Jigokudayu is great if you like sweet blends. Paper Kite was great at first but after a while the pepper in it overwhelmed the blend and I ended up swapping it away. Tiki King is my favorite coconut blend right now. It isn't cloying or in your face but just right.

Whoa wet on this smells as if I just fell face down into a lawn. Lots of grass and dirt, fresh and green, so far no leather or lemon in sight. There is some leather when it dries, but it stays mainly grass and dirt. Out of the three monsterbaits I tried I think I like this one the most. It's very lifelike.

This starts off oddly citrussy and floral. Anubis is definitely frolicking in the spring flowers and when I say flowers I meant huge giant ones. On drydown it just stays ...floral. It is a really lovely and sophisticated floral, like lotus drifting on the Nile, but just not what I expected from a blend called Anubis. ETA this is a lab-fresh imp I think it needs some aging for the resins to show.

Yay! This blend smells almost exactly like the proto of Thousand Pillar atmo spray. It's got tons of throw, I'm testing more blends on one arm and this cut through all of them. On me it's mostly sandalwood and cedar but greener somehow. On drydown theres something almost like cinnamon coming through. I need to retest this by itself but for now it's a real winner.

Oh wow I really like this one. My swappee thoughtfully included two imps of Haunted, one with a light yellow color of oil and one with a dark orange oil. Both took a long time to dry on my skin. The lighter oil (probably the fresher one) has an amazing amber scent with a topnote of citrus. The citrus fades off after a while and it turns in to something reminiscent of Snake Oil. The dark (aged) oil is still drying! It's not as outspoken as the fresh one but smooth, powdery and like Snake Oil a bit oriental. Looking at the notes ...there is musk in this one? I did not get any musk out of this and I'm thankful for that.

Obatala is the first bpal blend that actually makes me gag..oh well first time for everything. It must be the milk note 'cause there is a strong boiled milk scent underneath the coconut that my skin amps like anything. I always disliked the scent and taste of boiled milk so obviously this is just not going to work. Has quite some throw ... unfortunately.

I had forgotten the notes to this and was amazed when I read them again. It smells so much lighter than the described notes suggest. It looks like an aged imp. Im actually getting the lemon of Lemon-Scented Sticky Bat but thankfully without the detergent note I got out of that one. There is some ozone lurking underneath and what smells like frankincense. This turns into a breezy summery lemon blend, who would have guessed.

Seeing the notes I'm a little surprised, I don't get the cherry at all. I get a warm vanilla with coconut and strawberry, it's actually very tropical. It has a tartness to it that Velvet Tiki also has, it keeps the scent from being too sweet. But it's definitely a foody almost cakey vanilla.

Rose! On my skin this is pretty much a pink rose scent with something green underneath it. I amp rose like nobody's business, this one is a no-go for me. Edited ~ spelling fail.

In the imp: A lovely floral with an awful lot of horse... oddness . On my skin wet: A strong leather scent, the horse is still present too with an amazing floral underneath...that can't just be the sandalwood? On skin dry: Thankfully the horse has wandered off, the leather is a lot less prominent and i get an almost resiny sandalwood underneath. It fades pretty fast and doesn't have a lot of throw. I definitely need to retest this some day, the underlying notes are just too pretty I'll risk the horse and leathers.
