I'm on the fence with this one. I expected a lemon scent like Lush bohemian soap, but this only vaguely smells of lemons. It has a huge laundry detergent thing going that just makes this smell...fake. Makes me think of yes, laundry in the sun. I would have liked it more if it had a natural lemon scent.

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?

Definitely Velvet Tiki and I find that the Deep Ones works very well in hot weather too. -
This is such a happy scent! Makes me want to skip. In the bottle: Juicy apricot. On my skin wet: Very juicy apricot with a bit of clove. Dry: Mainly clove the apricot adds sweetness and tartness. Limited throw.

This has a gorgeous old feeling to it, I think the right word is eldritch. It was my first Bpal love. In the imp: light patchouli and orris. On wet: mentholly orris , patchouli and a hint of black musk the myrrh sweetens it a bit. On dry: the orris backs away a bit and the patchouli and myrrh come forward. It has amazing throw. It'll be interesting to see how this ages. Definitely bottle-worthy. ETA: now I got more acquainted with musks I can definitely pick out the black musk in this. It's giving an almost Amber-like feel to the Orris. Gorgeous!

Beautiful brown oil. In the imp it's a rather subdued peppery somewhat menthol like scent. On my skin wet: The pepper explodes it's almost too much. On drydown the musk and resins make themselves known, it becomes a sweet sinus-clearing resin scent, I don't get clove out of this. If you don't like pepper steer clear of this one. This is a very complex scent it smells pretty much like the color the oil has in the imp only with added pepper. I like it for it's complexity and it's unusualness.

This turned into toilet freshener in no time on me I wanted to like this one so much!

Wet I smell liquorice and wood. Where does that liquorice come from, it may just be the sassafras 'cause I have no idea what that smells like. Dry it's mostly a heady, woodsy vanilla which reminds me a bit of Snake Oil. There is still a bit of liquorice in there. I don't care too much for liquorice and the vanilla is a bit too much on the heady side for me. Will probably keep the imp around to see if it ages into anything less liquorice-like.

Sampler from the lab. Wow this is gorgeous! Sweet resins and maybe sandalwood. Would definitely like to see this one released.

Honey with something green and slightly sour. It's quite refreshing.

This reminds me of Rakshasa, it's mostly rose and sandalwood on me thankfully not as much rose as Rakshasa has. Out of the two I think I like this one better.

On wet: sweet clove with a bit of Orris. Clove is a note of death for me and I amp it like nobody's business yet I still keep picking scents that have clove listed, I just want to like it. When it dries down the clove recedes a little bit and balances out with the Orris. A tiny bit of patchouli peeks out when it's dry.

Warm fur coupled with red and black musk, vanilla bean, patchouli, champaca flower, juniper berry, chocolate peppermint, frangipani, browned sandalwood, ferntop ash resin, and massoia bark. To me this is Snake Oil with pine and a hint of mint. I like it!

Velvet Tiki is my ultimate Tropical Scent.

The first association I had when smelling Whoso List To Hunt was a florist's shop. Like damp slightly flowery greenery.

Decant. In the imp: wet fruity patchouli hinting towards dragons blood resin. On me it's an almost boozy grape and patchouli after a while the patchouli takes the lead and it becomes a bit woodsy. I like it, but i'm not sure wether I need a bottle of this, will keep the imp around.

Frimp from a sale. In the imp it smells like pickles. It has that same sour note as the Apothecary. On me it's citrus and ozone like a gently wafting spring breeze. I don't get the cologney vibe ozone has a tendency to go powdery/ old lady perfume on me, this one does too. It faded pretty fast.

A salty aquatic floral (honeysuckle or jasmine). Very pretty and light/ sunny.

ooo, this sounds like so much fun! I hope they do it this year - and a sandalwood series does sound amazing! Sandalwood would be great but what of a chaos theory~.... Patchouli!

I got a bottle of Old Man Ackerman's Instructional Toys and to my surprise it has the same fizz as Pink Champagne. To me it's a orangey fizzy perfume, very sparkly and happy.
-
I get honeyed jasmine from this with some cinnamon. I don't normally like jasmine but this one is really interesting, it's sweet with the cinnamon giving it a bit of kick.

^This. The Chicken-Legged Hut has the same burnt cookie scent as Cockaigne in the imp. It turns to very sweet smoky hay on my skin.

So far i have tried Thalia which smelled more of honey and beeswax on me and Marotte is a very interesting one, pear and metal? Haven't tried Titania yet because of the white musk which is a note of death for me thanks to the Body Shop's White Musk. But Bpal has a tendency to surprise, will definitely put Titania on my wishlist.

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

For those interested; Thalia smells a lot like Tiny Hands solid hand cream. -
In the imp: Argh mildew! Alright this is my first encounter with the infamous dirt note, will try again. Actually it's more of a freshly tilled earth scent. Wet: Lots of dirt and a bit of rose coming through. Dry: The moss is making an entrance and the rose is amping up the dirt note is still very prominent. I'll have to see if this is actually wearable.

In the imp: this reminds me of the Tuca Tuca fragrance by Lush a bit except this is cleaner. Wet: Very violet, still reminiscent of Tuca Tuca with a bit of rose peeking through. Dry: Violets and Rose, the violet is a lot sharper now. Still looking for the perfect violet scent this dries up a little too sharp.
