    Depraved

I get mostly cedar. This imp seems to be exhibiting Depraved Indifference to the fact that it is supposed to be apricot-patchouli. Very strange. A few months later... The Lab gifted me with a leaky frimp which I set in a box of tissues. Depraved makes the tissue smell like subtle apricot. I am really enjoying the oil this way.
  2. Sudha Segara is one of my faves, so much so that I bought 10 ml during the Summer of Poofiness. It is tea with ginger, and gives you vibes for a peaceful day. And to answer your question it is fairly strong on me. Other faves are Satan w/Sin&Death - not too tart tea but well blended and more of a perfume than a single tea note. And for LE's: Spirits of the Dead is extremely hoardable and beats out Holiday Moon for me. Of these, Holiday Moon is the strongest but can be puckery. As for the other GCs: had a bottle of Kumiho and wore it a lot - it is on the tart side. Have a few imps of Embalming Fluid, and love it but consider it more of an aromatic citrus. Of the two, Kumiho was stronger. Hope this helps.

    Count Dracula

You can Count on the Lab to produce a wonderful Halloween scent with Dracula. He is leathery and dry, has plenty of wood, and is subtly spiced. I would have guessed vetiver, but none there per the description. He has apparently sucked the assertiveness out of the patchouli and bent it to his will. Count Dracula is a dark, dry variation of the BPAL classic Halloween blends: Samhain, Blood Moon, DDLM and is a welcome addition to the season. It will also be interesting to see how this one ages, or if, like the Count, it is ageless.

    White Moon

White Moon reminds me a bit of Ephemera with a bit of the roasted grain undertone from Ligeia. Overall? Very Victorian. Haven't made up my mind exactly what I think about this one. Maybe scent my lace handkerchiefs and corsets?

    Port-Au-Prince

Port-au-Prince starts off fine, since I llike almonds. But things go downhill from there and end up as Eau de D'eau. Better than Port-au-Potty, but this one is not for me.

    Perversion

Perversion is kind of roasty-toasty on me. It reminds me a bit of burnt cookie. Interesting, but probably not going to be a big bottle.

    Cockaigne

Cockaigne (AKA Nuclear Gingerbread Man) is a dark and diabolical scent for me. It reminds me of the times when I've left the gingerbread man in the oven too long and his little raisin eyes exploded. Must be having my usual luck with wine notes.

    Shroud

Shroud - apologies to Green Day Well, you know you make me wanna (Shroud) Throw my hand up (Shroud) Kick my heels back (Shroud) Throw my head back (Shroud) Come on now (Shroud) Well, I guess you could perform the above Shroud-wearing-ritual but the scent is fine on its own. After dry for a while it smells like dying embers/bonfire smoke. Before the bitter end, the dry grass/herb is apparent. Shroud is an interesting blend which I like a lot. It's something to wear when you want to be unique, rather than an OMFG sexay thing,

    Les Bijoux

Before I read the ingredients, Les Bijoux seemed like a very soft, rounded, citrus. OK, I can believe that the fruity smell is apples. When dry, Bijoux is subtle and fresh with a hint of resin. So glad the roses didn't riot. This smells like skin, only better. This is a great work-friendly,calm scent. Love it.

    The Music of Erich Zahn

There are a number of components (ajowan?) I'm not so familiar with in Erich Zahn. Taken as a whole this composition is sweet, powdery, and dark with the sweetness playing off the non-existant saffron. EZ is interesting and unusual - glad I got to try it.

    Miskatonic University

So thrilled to have gotten to try the 2006 version. I'd swear there was vetiver in this. Misk U is a dry, bitter, dusty scent where the coffee stays discretely in the background. So glad it's not foody. A wonderful scent to wear on cold, rainy, weekend afternoons and probably perfect in an oil burner.

    Kindly Moon

I used to have 12 ft gardenia bushes growing by my door in Carolina and never really cared for the smell. Kindly Moon was kind enough not to gardenia-bomb me. And I don't find it overly floral. My overall impression is ripe autumn pear, so this is perfect for the fall season. Kindly has a lot of throw, and is very long lasting. Glad I have a bottle of it.

    The Brides of Dracula

Not a Bridezilla by any means. This is soft, light, and reminds me a little of the smell of lipstick in the tube. Very feminine and work friendly. On the downside, the wedding doesn't have much of a reception and you need to renew the vows every so often by re-applying.

    The Carpathian Mountains

So sad. My relatives came from the Carpathians, but these mountains are not for me. Carpathians reminds me a lot of Vinland, so if wintergreen fading to berry is your thing - go for it!! But I'm going to take a Borgo Pass.

    Carfax Abbey

I'm happy that the cedar-type oil in Carfax stays under control and that it is possible to wear this without feeling like a hamster. Wearing it? -a very very interesting scent. This one needs a bit of thought as to how often it would get into rotation. But the dry woods would be absolutely fantastic in an oil burner. How wonderful to feel like I was living in an old vampire-ridden abbey!

    Samhainophobia

Wow. As Samhainophilic as I am, I am floored by Samhainophobia. Many reviews mention a "creamy" scent for blends that are anything but on me. This is one where the description fits. Sam is dry, deep, dark, and rich. If it has a cat on the label, I'm definitely going to spring for a big bottle.

    Punkie Night

To this day, that night of foolishness is still celebrated! This is a light-hearted scent: apple orchards, bright cranberries, and a touch of warm cider. We are having our first autumn-like weather here and I've just bought my first cider. After applying Punkie Night I had to mull myself another cup. Mmm. Spicy, cinnamon-wood apples drying down to crisp autumn sweetness. This seems to be a fairly simple blend, but it really gets the job done this time of year.

    Whitechapel

You put the lime in the baby oil and mix them both together... I like White Chap as a clean subtle warm-weather work friendly scent ( a bit like Embalming Fluid) but there seems to be some baby oil thing going on here. Not bad, just unexpected. Will enjoy the frimp, but don't need a whole bottle.

    Schwarzer Mond

I like Swarzer Mond, but don't quite know what to make of it. At first it strikes me as extreme patchouli with something salty going on in the background. It doesn't change much when dry, but the powdery amber does develop. Swarzer seems to be one of those scents that grow on you: either aging helps, or you wear it often enough that eventually you "get" it. So, if Brian was going for "keeper of secrets" he nailed it exactly with this mysterious concoction.

    Pumpkin Queen

From the description, Pumpkin Queen looked like my perfect Halloween scent. I wore the Pumpkin Patches throughout last year, and love ginger and cardamom. When you see something that looks so good, you wonder if you are just setting yourself up for disappointment. Nope. Pumpkin Queen really is the perfect autumn scent. In some ways it is even nicer than the Patches, in that there is no cheesecake/barf smell when wet. There are warm, spicy notes that last most of the day. And just when I thought there couldn't possibly be anything more wonderful than Pumpkin Queen, I noticed that the label has a picture of my cat and me!! Excellentissimo, Laboweeners!! This one makes me so happy.

    Black Moon

I bought Black Moon in the never-say-die hope that I could find a wearable orchid scent. And got lucky for a change!! Although jasmine is also iffy on me, and I'm not so fond of fruity, this perfume is wonderful and "my type". The pear and lotus are detectable, but the whole is so much better than the individual ingredients. Black Moon is a cool, subtle, perfumey perfume that I will zealously hoard!

    Antonino, The Carny Talker

Tony and I have spent the day together. He's now sticking pretty close to my skin, but he's still there. This evening I would guess he was made of vanilla and vetiver. When Tony is wet, however, he smelled like verbena with a cedar base. People say Tony is fruity, but around me he mostly throws verbena leaves and is mysteriously tantalizing about whether or not he has wood. On second thought, maybe that is a little fruity. Not what I expected, not bad, but a bottle is not a foregone conclusion.

    Theodosius, The Legerdemain

I wore "Ted" yesterday. It started out sugary, sweet, interestingly herbal citrus tea. It was fine. The drydown, however, was even better. It was the most intense vanilla kept from becoming cloying by the citrus. Although I like tea scents a lot, and am not so fond of vanilla, I just loved the way this scent developed throughout the day. "Ted" is sufficiently different from the other tea scents to warrant consideration of a bottle.

    Gennivre, L’Artiste du Diable

I love Beth's tea scents: Spirits of the Dead and Satan & Friends are two of my faves. Gennivre is a welcome variation on the type - honey and mint in lieu of linden etc.. Purchasing a big bottle, however, will depend on the fullness of my "tank" of tea scents when CD is about to vanish.

    Has No Hanna

I was pleased to get this frimp from the Lab, along with my Eight of Cups Misfortune card. The two gifts taken together seem to be "So, you've had shitty luck - scent yourself up with this and walk away". Sorta like leaving a trail of dust, whistling a happy tune, soaring with the eagles, and limbering up themiddle finger ... Obviously the intent of fostering happiness works. However, the scent itself is redolent of celery on me. With the Voodoo oils, you either begin to associate a strange odor with good works or conclude the oil is not for you. Glad I now has me some Hanna.
