    Destroying Angel

No dirt on me (at least from Destroying Angel). I get dry, white blend with great throw and decent staying power. This one is so nice, I just can't stop snuffling the inside of my elbow. Arrgh. Truffle Pig instead of cleavage gerbils!

    Opium Poppy

BPALGeneric Floral at first: Mellows nicely to smoky, spicy bitter perfume. Opium poppy has good staying power and is interestingly complex. My favorite so far of the new garden update.

    Peony Moon

I was so leery of getting this one because the listed notes were so similar to Budding Moon which was Just Too Sweet for my taste. It was a lucky gamble. Peony Moon is floral, but soft and feminine. On me, it is pretty much 100% soft floral. Not fruity, not woodsy, just floral. This will be a wear-often during the spring season.

    Cairo

I get intense lemon. Yellow, syrupy, skin-staining (literally) lemon. It takes a while to settle down, but then a more complex wood/incense undertone wanders along. Not for everyday, but good for getting the Mellow Yellow vibe on. After several hours, I got only a bit of the long-awaited doughnut smell mentioned in the above reviews. I'm keeping my imp in the car, anyway, because it seems to be the perfect scent to wear when you are pulled over for speeding......

    The Mock Turtle's Lessons

On me, this starts out like boozy liquorice, then becomes citrus-mint. It is definitely a cool, refreshing, scent. Although Turtle is a delightful blend, it lasts less than 3 hrs and sneaks off to leave only a faint trace of white musk.

    Sundew

Powdery amber and citrus on me. This is a soft, well behaved, uncomplicated scent and I like it a lot. I just don’t find it as unusual or distinguished as some of the other blends.

    Mandrake

I love this one right out of the bottle. This is a soft scent, with rooty nutty undertones and maybe some eucalyptus. When drying this smells like ginseng tea powder and cedar shavings and gives the impression of something stored away – an old book? Perhaps guinea pigs nesting in a clean cage, or maybe in my cleavage? This is one I could wear daily, but I wish I hadn’t gotten that last image.

    Mi-Go Brain Canister

At first, it is Orange Soda but rapidly becomes more complex upon drying. The pepper is very light, the jasmine stays under control, and the over all impression is “tropical fruit”. This would make a nice scent for a beach vacation.

    Dragon's Tears

There isn’t much that I can add to the Lab description. This is very strong Dragon’s Blood (reminds me of Calgon bath oil beads) and yes there is a little saltiness. I could see this as a room scent, but it doesn’t work as a perfume for me.

    Butch yet not manly scents?

Two not on your list are DeSade (Let's go for a Walk with the Happy Leash) and Othello (Enraged Jealous Man Musk). Neither of these were sweet, or aftershavey but they are not very girly either.

    Les Infortunes de la Vertu

This one was really disappointing on me. Normally, I love Beth's leather scents and this has a gloriously complex description. I love citrus blossoms on th plant, too. Unfortunately, I got no leather and nothing else discernable. It just smelled like Generic Aftershave. And didn't really change with time. So, yeah. Probably great on a guy, but gender equality only goes so far.

    Spanked

Ah yes, my beloved bottle of Spanked! This was my gift to myself for the holidays, since I’d moved across the country three weeks before, and didn’t expect Santa to get my change of address right. This bottle made me so happy when it arrived, since it was just what I wanted, and the Trading Post was very cool about taking my broad hints dropped in verse. But on to the scent: It is a butt-warming blend redolent of fresh paddle (maybe the leather?). I love cardamom, and it is definitely present. The bourbon is subtle. I really love this one and am so thankful to the Trading Post for a real bright spot in my holidays!!

    Othello

If this is Enraged Cuckold-Man, bring it on. Othello is a balanced rose scent that keeps the manly musk under control. No old-lady rose soap here. I’ve gone from testing to slathering and really enjoy this one.

    Kumiho

I am a total Kumi Hoe. On me it is refreshing, astringent, and balanced between the citrus/ginger and the tea. This scent wakes me up and energizes me with the playful nips of soul-sucking foxes. A default scent for sleepy mornings when you need to get on with it already.

    Nephilim

This may be the exception that proves the rule, a cardamom scent that thumbs its nose in my general direction. I think the problem here is the hyssop, which smells gamey to me as a plant. For those who like “dark” scents, this is definitely one. But I'm not in the minority who worships Nephilim as heroic.

    Thanatopsis

Hush, you musky thang. This scent is not coniferous on me. It has interesting "dirt" undertones but is too sweet for my tastes. Dark sweet, not candy sweet.

    Nemesis

Woood. Cedaaar… and then it morphs into something woodier but similar to my beloved Khajura-Joe!! Nemesis is a little sharper and woodier, though. It eventually loses the conifer blast altogether and a mellow sweetness creeps out. Another nice surprise.

    Undine

Undine is one of my top ten favorites - and probably in my top five. It is one of the few BPAL offerings that evoke the desired image or mood for me. As a perfume, it is a little sharp rather than sweet or dry, and so well blended that I can't really pick out a note. If I had to guess, I'd guess tuberose or jasmine (like my jasmine plants not BPAL jasmine). This scent makes me think of swimming in warm tropical waters ... And little mermaid has never been much of a role model!

    Snake Oil

By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla. I am lucky enough to have gotten an enraged aged imp at my friendly neighborhood meet&sniff. This reminds me a bit of Baby Oil and I am definitely a fan.

    Whip

Rose is waiting in a café for Leather to show up. It is raining, and drops still linger on her dewy skin. Where is Leather? She picks up her shoe phone, dials, and finds out Leather will be there “shortly”. I like this scent a lot, but it is mostly rose with only a little leather. Which is fine with me…

    Gaueko

I don't think this one likes me much. It started out as manly aftershave, went through a squashed bug guts phase and has just the faintest of incense tones. Not a keeper.

    Himerus

My nose has a long way to go in sorting out scents. This one struck me as similar to Caterpillar although the listed ingredients are altogether different. It is well balanced, it doesn’t strike me as woodsy, but maybe the orchid is running rampant. The general impression is dark and sweet. Not a favorite.

    Hurricane

Surprisingly woody (must be the vetiver) – I would have expected ozone. This one morphs around at first: well blended - then all vetiver - then refreshingly sour/sweet - then vetiver - and finally settles down into uh: clean, dark and refreshing? Hurricane is a really interesting scent, and wearable.

    Hades

Another frimp from the Lab. On first applying this, it smelled warm, with no particular note predominant. I had to look this one up: no rose, tea, jasmine, honey, or amber or anything else I might be able to guess. (Narcissus? They are blooming right now – better go check). When dry, the Cyprus was detectable. I like it more than most of the frimps: a dry, slightly toasty scent that blends into my skin.

    Eos

Another good surprise from the Lab. Just when I thought I couldn't wear their jasmine notes..... Eos dries into a soft light floral with a little smoky undertone. It's floral, but not overly sweet. Maybe it's the honeysuckle (one of my fave plants) or maybe the "warm skin" added so the jasmine doesn't have to fool with "my" skin. Eos makes a fine springtime comfort scent.
