    Scarecrow

An agricultural gargoyle. Though he is the Guardian of the Crops and Keeper of the Fields, his visage is still the stuff of nightmares. The scent of a hot wind blowing through desolate, scorched, barren fields. I was surprized by how sweet Scarecrow is, but this adds interest to the grassy undertone. Scarecrow is one I always wanted to try and am glad I did. In summary, it is fresh and light ( a la Dorian & Whitechapel) and would be good as part of the summer rotation. Scarecrow would also be fantastic on a guy.

    Mistletoe

She sent me one, too. And since I was a klutz and let it fall out of the package and roll off to oblivion, I didn't thank her for it I am so glad to have gotten to try Mistletoe: minty, berry, piney with dry wood - so appropriate for the season.

    Lampades

Lampades is one of the better berry scents - the cranberry smells almost like apricot. It does evoke nature-loving young nymphs with fruit and floral abundance. Glad to try it because there are not all that many cranberry blends, but I'm fruity enough without help from perfume.

    Red Devil

My undoubtedly wrong guess is ylang-ylang and white musk. But I agree that Red Devil is a light floral scent. It would be interesting to see what type of kinkiness it scares up.

    Bat's Blood

I've seen Bat's Blood recipes that include dragon's blood and myrrh, and one that includes magnolia and mint. This Bat's Blood seems to be the dragon's blood type. It smells really sweet - which is what some people say about vengeance.

    Shub-Niggurath

Shub Niggurath 2006 Dang this scent makes me happy. First because the Lab brought it back which t was the only way I'd be likely to try it and second because the lemon reminds me of the type of icing that goes on a gingerbread man. Up close, I also get a "coffee" impression and the resin drydown is the best thing of all.

    Wolf Moon 2007

Wolf Moon is not as coniferous as you would expect from all the evergreen notes. The juniper berries are very apparent, the tonka adds a vanilla note, and the musk may be going a little animal. It reminds me of warm fur on a cold day. Definitely animal. Very evocative.

    Scent for Halloween?

I wore Spanked on Christmas, because it was my gift to myself (with great cooperation from BPTP) last year. For New Year's I'm leaning toward Sol Invictus, Lionheart, or Kether. I'll make up my mind when the day arrives.

    Morgause

Morgause did not sound very promising from the listed notes but this may be the one jasmine/violet/fruit scent that works on me. This oil is a sweet perfume that would be good for dress-up days or evening.

    Yuletide

Mmm. Yuletide. There is Yule and there is Tide and fortunately this scent evokes the former. My 2005 bottle is remiscent of balsa wood, cinnamon (briefly), and candlewax. This is a delicious winter scent that will be in heavy rotation this season.

    Siren

Siren is another favorite GC. It is a heavy fruity citrus/apricot with a slight bitter-wood undertone. Hurrah for the other notes holding their own against jasmine rampage. I may hoard the imp.

    The Snow Maiden

Snow Maiden is a fruity, light (yellow) floral on me. I usually hate berries, but they contribute something good to this perfume. I will definitely enjoy using up this imp.

    Krampus

Krampus - very dry spicy leather with phantom-vetiver. Mr. K is a devilishly tough character because he makes Count Dracula (another musky leather) smell absolutely sweet in comparison. This scent whips butt. Even the butt of a wrathful vampire. Because biting is naughty.

    Black Ice

Black Ice is wonderful. It's my favorite aquatic so far after Undine. The initial heady floral rush (reminiscent of Black Moon), settles down to a cool floral cucumber smell. This may become a big bottle.

    The Winter of Our Discontent

Winter of Our Discontent: Happy Sunny Floral . I am not fond of rose, and wouldn't know that rose was the operative floral here without having checked the description. This is very complex: a sweet powdery floral with a little bit of spiciness - it has a balanced composition rather than discernable notes. I like Winter a lot and am perfectly content to find a rose perfume that works on me.

    Leanan Sidhe

Leanan Sidhe is sharp-sweet and aquatic on me drying down to predominantly lavender. Not a lot of throw, and not very long lasting, but a very pretty scent. It reminds me a little of Danube.

    Thaumiel

I get "hot bathroom while using shampoo" smell from Thaumiel until it dries down to "something burnt". That could be pretty hellish - what you think is a nice hot shower is really a pyre. Fits with the concept.

    Yule

Yule starts out very lemon - a difficult note to get my mind around for Yule. I began to picture it as lemon thyme, a plant which can be evergreen. As Yule dries, the thyme becomes more pronounced, and I get a dry winter woods background. Ah Ha! The concept starts to make sense!! So much more interesting than ye olde Christmas tree. I'm very glad to have this bottle and will be wearing it for the winter holidays.

    Purple Phoenix

Purple Phoenix needs a little time to get past "the awkward stage". After the Guyana Kool Aide of Doom and the Sad BPAL Floral (think Ephemera, Ode on Melancholy, White Moon) it settles down to a sweet fruity resin perfume. I think this one will get better with age, but it is interesting and unusual now.

    Bitter Moon

What a nice way to wrap up the Asian moons. Bitter Moon so far is a mix of tart fruit and manly snuggle armpit. I think the latter note is the sage - making it a snuggle with a hot shaman man. This is such a cozy scent for cold winter days.

    Hamadryad

My Hamadryad is an aged imp. At first, it's the slightly oily smell of hardwood - I could picture myself as a wooden mermaid on a ship's prow. After about 15 minutes, a very light spicy floral develops. I'm not sure if it's minty or cinnamon and it does not change the overall "wood" impression. On me, there isn't much throw. I may actually keep this imp and use it to scent miscellaneous wooden boxes. It would be fabulous for that.

    Saint-Germain

I received an aged imp of St. Germain in a swap. When I first applied it, I thought it smelled a lot like eggnog and suspected that there was nutmeg in yonder imp. While going through the drying stage, it began to smell more of men's cologne. Finally, it became a light herbal-wood scent. This would be awesome on a guy, and I am surprised how much I like it on me.

    La Belle au Bois Dormant

The Sleeping Beauty. A gentle, lovely scent, slightly soporific, but beautiful in its quiet repose. Plumeria and white pear, Damascus rose, tuberose, magnolia and evening dew. I really like La Belle when she is fresh out of the imp. Most of the time, the dry-down is OK: a light perfume - not too fruity. But sometimes she gets into a little tiff with my skin and becomes annoyingly sweet as the day wears on.

    Nahemoth

Nahemoth: (short for Nahemothra? a wicked little female, indeed!!) This is the ninth Qliphoth I've tried and definitely my favorite. Along with the sandalwood patchouli plummy(?) described above - generally sweet spicy - I get an undertone of almond and olive oil. This is one I'd definitely consider putting into wearing rotation. A definite Yum.

    Zephyr

Zephyr is mostly musk with "girly flowers" (as opposed to "generic flowers") and a smoky firecracker/extinguished candle note. No citrus/vanilla for me. No Zephyr for me.
