  1. If you like florals, maybe Love Lies Bleeding (no notes listed, but there is a chocolatey aspect - it's been described as "Valentine's Day in a vial" or something similar) or Kali (a blend of the sacred blooms of cassia, hibiscus, musk rose, Himalayan wild tulip, lotus and osmanthus swirled with offertory dark chocolate, red wine, tobacco, balsam and honey) if you like complex scents. I've tried How Doth The Little Crocodile, and while the chocolate peppermint is noticeable, the other notes are strong enough that I didn't wind up smelling like a box of Junior Mints.

    Pumpkin V

My skin often amps vanilla, so I was expecting something sweeter and more conventionally foody. That's not what I got. This was buttery in the bottle, but surprisingly earthy on my skin (earthy but not a dirt note), with some spice and a bit of foody sweetness. More unisex and not nearly as pumpkin pie-like as I'd anticipated.

    Tornado vs Garden

If you can do vetiver, it might be worth buying an imp of Hurricane and experiment layering it with various floral blends.
  4. Love-Lies-Bleeding from Rappacini's Garden doesn't have a note list, but there is definitely a floral + chocolate aspect to it. Some reviewers described it as "Valentine's Day in a bottle" or something to that effect. I got more Ferrero Rocher than bittersweet chocolate myself, but it might be worth trying. At any rate, it's GC and impable, so if it doesn't work for you, you won't be out much.

Using BPAL to negate the smell of death?

If you can do rose, Delirium might be good for covering up ickiness. That stuff is *strong*. And has lemon for some freshness.
  6. Salome (almond with star jasmine, oakmoss, red sandalwood and Egyptian musk) has a lot of your "yes" notes and might work well for you if you can wear jasmine.

    Vegetal, Vegetable Scents

Some people get a strong zucchini note out of the "courgette musk" in Orc. It has leather and vetiver as well, but no florals. And it's impable GC!

    Pink Snowballs

I can see the resemblance to Snow White - it has a similar soft coolness - but Pink Snowballs actually reminds me more of Possets' "Baby," although it works better with my body chemistry. (Something in Baby goes sour - probably the rose - but Pink Snowballs behaves itself.) Rose is unreliable on my skin, but the rose in Pink Snowballs doesn't get too high-pitched, turn acrid, or amp itself to high heaven. Overall it's a nice, subtle, feminine scent - good for when you want something sweet, youthful and girly that doesn't go into all out candy territory.

    Old books... Books, paper, libraries

Seance and Ouija are both more generalized "cool old stuff" scents with an indoorsy feel, although not specifically literary.

    Blood Amber

Origin: purchased on the forum. In the imp: juicy and fruity. Oil is a rather attractive red color. On application: still juicy, but no longer gives the fruity impression. Smells rather familiar... wet lilacs? Yep. Lilacs. No obvious sign of the amber, unfortunately, but I like lilacs so this is still very wearable. A couple of hours after application, still lilacy, although it varies between "wet lilac" and a sweeter, sort of "candied violet" scent. It never quite goes into soapy territory, however. I'm a bit sorry that I didn't pick up on any of the amber, but at least now I know what dragon's blood smells like on me, and that I like it.

    Mary Read

Very evocative. BPAL's themed blends don't always remind me of their sources of inspiration, but Mary Read is fabulously piratey. This reminds me of the smell of a wooden ship, combined with sweet, non-solventy rum. I can smell just a hint of leather underneath. I think it could also work on a guy who liked sweeter smells, if he had cooperative chemistry and didn't mind the name. One of my current Pathfinder games is set on a pirate ship, and Mary Read will be just the thing to wear to game along with my tricorn.
  12. I'd recommend Embalming Fluid for lemon - very refreshing - and Xiuhtecuhtli for orange if your skin doesn't amp the incense and jungle flowers beyond all reason. (I get mostly orange out of it, at least.)

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Have you tried Dee (soft English leather, rosewood and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment and soft woods)? It has a few notes in common with some of the scents you like, and I tend to think of it as a geeky scent - Renaissance scholars and all.

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

Getting into the minor deities, Anne Bonney would be a natural for Besmara.

Thierry Mugler Womanity smell-alike; BPAL Caviar?

Maybe the "marine accord, seaweed, and bladderwrack" in Windward passage would do it, or something with Ambergris or onycha?

    Sugared incense

Scherezade might work - it's technically a musk and spice blend, but a lot of people seem to get incense from it, and the red musk is rather sweet if your chemistry cooperates.

With the demise of Hymn to Proserpine and my beloved Hermia, does anyone have any recommendations for fruity amber scents?

    Patient Friendly Oils

Some scientists did a study, and apparently mint and citrus tend to be perceived as pleasant by the highest percentage of people across cultures. (Schrodinger's Cat, if you like it and it doesn't amp on you?) If you're not in a situation where citrus allergies are a concern that might be worth keeping in mind.

    New Twists on Old Favorites?

If you can wear rosewood (it doesn't behave like rose on my skin) and like the leather and tonka in Perversion, you might like Dee (soft English leather, rosewood and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment and soft woods).
