Favorite Scents
I adore Eve, Seance, Freak Show, Beatrice, Love in the Asylum, Glasgow, Midway, Beltane, Asphodel, Carnivale, Maiden, House of Mirrors, and Three Witches, There are a lot of scents that I don't *love* but I like...for example Yog-Sothoth, Harvest Moon (05), Numb, Kunstkammer, Jailbait, and Jester. I'm willing to try just about anything, the only note that I've had a strong negative reaction to is the vetiver in Queen, and the TAL Helping Hand.

This is...bizarre I love the smell of it wet, it's bright juicy and yummy with just a hint of spice behind it to keep it interesting. as soon as it dries, one whiff and my throat closes up and i start choking..i've..never had a sensitivity like this to anything...wonder what's causing it. and almost as soon as i had written that it went away and got sweet again, i can live with this. 15 minutes later annd my skin has eaten it..funky

If I owned Drink Me, I would have worn it for Thanksgiving..but because I fail at planning I wore Eat Me instead.

in the bottle..even though i knew it was coming the creamed corn scent still surprised me. It's..exactly that..you can almost smell the tin of the can. The second it hits my skin the corn scent lightens and it gets sweeter, richer and deeper. ah now this is candy corn, perfect and fresh. and my skin then devours it...I enjoy it while it's there though.. i'm curious about how this baby ages..should be fun

Gourmand - Foody Scents - General Recommendations
Iona replied to Morrighana's topic in Recommendations
Jester smells like candy to me, as does Swank. Both of those are sweet and fruity, though Swank smells a touch artifical to me. Midway is fantastic if you can find it, it has a slight burnt edge to it usually, but once you get past that it is a lovely sugary vanilla. Kunstkammer (also a Carnivale Noir LE) for most people smells like orange candy (or cough medicine). Dorian isn't exactly straight foody but it definately has a lemony cookie element to it. Grog is all butterscotch on me, no rum at all. The Living Flame (LE) to me smelled like liquid red gummy bears until it reached the final drydown, then it was pure incense. edited to add Al-Shairan is strongly spicy, looking for another cinnamon/gingery/sweet scent. On my skin, it smells a bit like a spicy gingerbread (it also smells almost exactly like the now gone Three Witches) it also has orange and peach in it, most people got more of those notes than I did. -

Its under Bewitching Brews DEE John Dee: master of science, alchemy and magic, Hermetic philosopher in the schools of Rosicrucian Christian Mysticism and Platonic-Pythagorean doctrine, and Queen Elizabeth’s astrologer, advisor, cryptologist and spy. With Edward Kelly, he created a field of study and work in Angelic Evocation, and isolated the Angelic language: Enochian. His scent is soft English leather, rosewood and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment and soft woods. I've had similar happen with the search function on the site with the discontinued/ressurected scents like antique lace, where it simply didn't find them, and the search on the forums requires more than three letters I believe.

In the bottle, I'm having a hard time smelling anything clearly, it’s a very light mix of warm notes. Wet, I smell the tobacco, and a very woodish smelling note. As it dries the strong wood note fades, and this smells quite a bit like Love in the Asylum without the rose, which is most likely the tobacco coming to the front. Dry, I can smell the herbal note that is in every Voodoo Blend, that i have tried, this is only if I push my nose directly against my wrist. Initial dry has a pretty strong throw, as I’m typing I keep getting very strong whiffs of something herbal and slightly sweet. I can smell the rosewood separating itself from all of the rest, I adore the lab's rosewood note, Séance is one of my all time favorites. The ginger has not arrived in the tent yet. it might be behind another tent watching all of the other notes dancing about with just a hint traveling with the summer evening wind to join the others. There is the Balsam. Currently the balsam, tobacco, and rosewood are dancing around in a circle holding hands. I believe the opium is sitting in the middle of the circle, its there but no where near as active as the other three, and ginger is still watching, trying to decide if it wants to join in. The throw is lightening up (yay). I like a strong throw as much as anyone, but this is a pretty warm scent, and it is currently 90 degrees outside, and I am in a very warm attic. I imagine I will love this much more once it is cooler. As soon as fall rolls around I will review this scent again and edit it in. Overall it is a very dry and warming scent. As others have mentioned it is a bit disconcerting and hard to pin down, as well as being a touch masculine. Though, I can easily see this being a cozy winter scent to curl up with in winter. It will also be lovely in layering probably, to add a layer of tobacco.

Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion

Have you considered Bon Vivant for fizzy-fruity? I've never tried it myself but it sounds perfect. An effervescent blend of crystalline champagne notes and sweet strawberry. I also second Persephone It is the perfect scent if you are hunting down the pomegranate note. -
In the bottle this smells like yummy clean citrus, slightly perfumy, but in no way unpleasant. When first on that 'perfumy' note jumps to the front a little. After a moment it all calms down and blends smoothly into a pleasantly disorienting fragrance as the blend dries there is almost a smoky note that I can't identify, but it is familiar. As well as a slight plastic smell. Later on in the dry down this smells much more light and floral with that smoky note barely even there anymore. Ten minutes later this is allllmost the rain scent I have been seeking, it is a little bit too sweet still, we'll see if that goes away later on but this is so pretty and wonderful as it is now. This was not at all what I expected, most of the ozone/aquatic scents I have tried have turned very unpleasant but this one is very sweet and gentle. Twenty minutes later, a bit more grapefruit is coming back into play and this is just beautiful, the plastic/smoke is totally gone and this is just, wow. Overall this scent is very clean, and just wonderful.

In the bottle this smells quite perfumey, almost like walking through the perfume section in a department store, so many notes hitting you at once, that you can't identify any of them. Wet it smells much like it did in the bottle, a little bit lighter, with a strong hit of powder. It smells somewhat like love in the asylum, but with a stronger totally different top note. The top note is very sharp; I think it is the violet making itself known, quite loudly. Dry, I can smell the creamy base of the vanilla now, the vanilla softly mixing with the honeysuckle, I think this is the powdery element I smelled earlier, they just need to be dry to fully present themselves. It is sweetening up as I write this, and becoming quite lovely. It is a much more gentle mix than the bottle suggested. A few minutes later if I press my nose to my wrist this smells, lovely, but the throw is screaming jasmine. It smells, familiar but I cannot place it. The scent is all together very, very floral, as I expected it to be. I can clearly smell the amber now. As it dries down the throw becomes much more complex and pleasant. Ten Minutes later, this smells very similar to Anna Sui Classic now, the powdery note is back but much calmer, and everything as a whole seems to have agreed on what they want to smell like, its a lovely, purple scent

In the bottle this smells very...intimidating. I smelled a very strong sweet note, one that I can't identify but my skin has amped up before. Upon first application I get a brief whoosh of pine, this lasted about a second and a half before it calmed down into a very warm, incensey scent, with a hint of Christmas potpourri in it, not so much the strong cinnamon note that is in most holiday potpourris but more...the sweet one, slightly artificial, which is probably a combination of the cinnamon bark, pine and maybe the leather, this is my first experience with the lab's leather note. This smells like the drawer of Christmas candles in my house. I adore it. Ten minutes later, the cinnamon/pine/holiday scent has calmed down a bit what I believe is the leather note has come to the front and is making my nose itch. It does stay very close to my skin. I think this is going to stay quietly warm. An hour later, this is almost gone, if I press my nose against my wrist I can still smell it a little. It has returned to the candle drawer smell. This is beautiful and not overly masculine, I tend to gravitate towards very...feminine, girly scents, but this is very neutral and fantastic.
