Whoa, strong amber! This is a dark, heavy smell with the blackest amber and musk. Nothing "soft" about it, as is claimed by the description. It is delicious though, just a tad too heavy for me. Conjured images of dark corridors and heavy, dusty curtains drawn tight over windows, with not a sliver of light. Brooding.

Wow, like liquid wood this one is. I'd say this is more of a masculine scent, but I wouldn't want to put it on my partner. It is just pure wood to me. Reminds me of a high-end furniture store. Cedar dressers open and heated under lights. Slightly-Lysol smelling to me. Can't say I'm a big fan.

Morocco is one of the most lickable scents I've ever had the pleasure of sniffing. My boyfriend and I fought over who got this one while shopping at Black Broom. I reluctantly allowed him to claim it, the bastard, but I have the priviledge of sniffing it on him almost everyday. Hmmm... soft, spicy, buttery... it is just. PERFECT. Beth should be canonized for this one. Absolutely heavenly, while still being sexy as hell! Who knew? It warms the skin and will keep a smile on the face of anyone who wears it. (I secretly wear it under my Scherezade sometimes... shhhh)

Very crisp, rosey, and the other notes I can't detect quite yet! VERY floral and not my taste, although folks who like rose scents would enjoy this. It's almost woodsy, herbal. It kind of hurts my nose actually.

A very gentle men's cologne, but nothing I'd want on my man! The lavender gives this scent a very gentle touch, and the amber gives it warmth. It's nice, but just too traditional smelling for me. Reminds me of mall cologne, but nicer and a bit more complex.
-
Mantis smells herbal and citrus to me as well. A bit soapy, probably because the herbal scent reminds me of these soaps I had as a kid. Can't detect the amber or patchouli even. Meh, not a fan of this one.

Too much carnation for me. I'm not a huge fan of heavy floral scents; they hurt my nose. If there was more of the musk or plum it might have worked for me. I tend to associate obvious floral notes (a lot of them anyway) to soap and cheap perfume. Which is a real pity but scent is always tied to memory.

Chaste Moon is a gorgeous blend, and by first sniff it is liable to send you into a wonderful mood. It's milky, sweet (but not overwhelmingly or obviously so to me), and very lightly floral (with what I don't know). It is somewhat childlike, very gentle and innocent. And almost foody to me as well. This isn't a hot date kind of perfume, this is a perfume to wear when you need someone to trust you, or to relax around you. Also a good perfume to wear to help you sleep (it did for me anyway).

First sniff: sweet, floral (nothing I would be able to identify by name yet), and WOW. Applied: what a complex and sexy scent! I don't detect any chocolate but the florals, honey, (and maybe the tobacco?) I get. Wow. You wear this and people will be intrigued for sure. Very voluptuous and mature. I like it.

Wow I like this one! On first sniff... very green and crisp. Once it dries it has an earthy, lush feel, very gentle. Probably not something I'd wear too much but it is a gorgeous scent.

Maybe I got a bad imp, but I don't think so. Smells rotten somehow, and sickeningly sweet. The pepper is a confusing addition to this blend. My nose reacted very badly to this one! I think it's the pepper that did it to me...

Hmm... smells like generic mall perfume to me. But I react poorly to rose and often associate it with traditionally feminine, mainstream perfumes. The musk is detectable and nice, but I don't find this spicy at all. Rose and musk. Bland to my nose.
-
Hmmm, floral. Ylang ylang? It's a nice perfume to put between the breasts before going out. It's got the most unusual notes sometimes... I really wish I knew what was in it. Maybe orange? On, it smells so different than it does just on fabric or from the bottle. It really warms up on the skin. I like it but I don't think it's "me".
-
Hmm... from the bottle I first though "Brisingamen", but spicier. When I applied it I thought the same, but the rose comes through more. Since I'm not a fan of rose, I have to pass. It is a lovely scent though, just not as "dark" as I was expecting.

I love Vixen! I'm still not sure if I'd wear it, but the scent is beguiling and I'm a sucker for patchouli. The orange goes really well with the patchouli, making it sweet and lickable. MmmmMMmm!! Delicious!

Its light, clean, green, leafy. Not terribly exciting though. This scent evokes an image of a small pool somewhere in a very lush forest. I like this scent, just not enough to wear.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Someone earlier said they tried Jack and hated it. Well, when I first got it I also HATED it. But after a while the scent of the imp got to me and I tried it again, right before I was about to sell it, and WOW. This scent is worth another shot. It is a bit intense at first... but let it set. It is THE perfect Autumn scent: spicy, sweet, warm, pumpkin-y, and just reminds me of a walk down my old trick-or-treat spot when I was a kid. With the leaves flying through the air, seeing spots of orange glowing on porches and walkways... Samhain personally didn't remind me of Autumn at all. All Saints, however, evoked a very creepy kind of Cathedral feel to it, very somber. Jack is the more fruitful aspect of fall for me. -
Spice me, baby! The spiciest BPAL blends

Scherezade is very warm and spicy, incense-y too. You'd like it if you like Silk Road, so I'm told. I haven't tried Silk Road yeat but many people draw comparisons to them. Chimera is spicy and warm cinnamon. I could see it working for winter as well as spring. Not candy-ish, but maybe more like baked goods. I'm looking for a Chai-like scent myself, and I'm expecting some good spicy scents in the mail soon so I'll add those on here as well. What did you think of Dracul? -
I'm like a lot of people who say that dragon's blood dominates a perfume for them. It's pretty much all I can smell. I detect the amber, but the sweetness of the dragon's blood ruins it for me. Too sugary and fruity. A boring scent on me.

A very sexy scent, no doubt, but somewhat boring. With all the other scents that are similarly earthy and sweet, I wouldn't go for Snake Oil. It's a little simple for my taste I guess. The odd thing is it also works on guys without smelling too "girly". I think this makes a good guy perfume because its sort of heavy and simple. Women should move on to Bastet or Scherezade.

This summer I was learning to surf. I wanted a perfume that would make me feel like an oceanic goddess; playful, tropical and powerful. I love coconut and use coconut lotion and oils all summer but was tired of DHS Hippy Chic perfume. Pele sounded PERFECT! But, there is no accounting for personal chemistry. This turned bad on my skin: bitter florals and a weird powdery smell. Sniffing from the bottle smelled delicious, but on... it happens I guess.
-
Anything with rose smells terrible on me, and this was no different. It was also too sweet for my tastes, which was partially the orange blossom's fault and partially the honey. Just clashes with my chemistry I suppose.
-
I wanted to like Fae, but it just didn't work with my chemistry I guess? The florals smelled too bitter and the sweetness smelled... rotten? Very strange. I'm not a big fan of peachy/fruity or floral perfumes anyways so I shouldn't have had such high hopes. One someone with compatible chemistry this would be lovely.

Evocative of the sea's unplumbed mysteries. Gentle and lovely, but menacing and profound. Coconut, Florentine iris, hazelnut and opalescent white musk. Hmm, I love a good coconut scent in the summer, which is when I tried it, but something just wasn't right. It could have just gone rotten on my skin, because it smelled nice enough from the bottle. Warm, sweet... too sweet. Something else clashed. Maybe the hazelnut with the coconut? It smelled... confusing to me. Poop. I wanted a good coconut blend!

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here

Scherezade is definately an attention-getter! I've also gotten lots of compliments with Bastet. Both are these earthy, sexy scents that last pretty long so they are bound to make an impression.
