Got this as a lovely surprise in my pack of Imps from Elphaba. Many thanks, m'lady! *** I will normally post two different reviews. One for the scent, which I will put on a bit of paper towel so that no personal chemistry gets in the way of the scent. The other review will be on me. Paper Chase The Paper Review HONEY MOON In the Imp; Floral and sweet. Very sweet. Inital whiff is mostly flowers. The gardenia comes through very clearly. A deeper smell reveals at least two honeys. Immediately on the paper - wet; The smell of the honeys comes out nicely and hits me in that same area that honey smells always do, at the back of the throat. In my hometown of Columbus, Ohio, there's a farmer's market on the east side called Smith's. They raise bees out there, for honey and honeycomb and while I'm intensely allergic to bee stings, I love the smell and taste. This reminds me of Smith's Farms. Immediately on the paper - dry; The florals come out more steadily until they are fully present. I think the spicey bite I sense has to be the ginger. 1/2 an hour dry; As the half hour drew near, I could begin to smell a differentiation in the honeys. Interesting that the honeys have come up to stand side by side with the florals. A full fragrance. 1 hour dry; At one hour, the florals have once again taken over. The honeys have dropped back and are barely discernable now. Still a strong scent, subtle in complexity, but not in strength. 2 hours dry; Similar to another scent I reviewed (Bayou), the complexity in the scent swings back and forth between the florals and the honeys, but the whole remains steady. Thoughts; Almost to hour three and the scent is as prevalent as it was in the first hour. Very steady, very clear. I enjoy that the scent pervades for a long time. Certainly an all-night scent, but also one that's not for me. I like the sweetness, but the steady rhythm of the flowers as they faded up and down around the honey is just not for me. Perhaps it will smell different when I get to the wearing review. Now, the worn review of this impish scent... Skin Flick The Wearing Review In the Imp; (From the Paper review) Floral and sweet. Very sweet. Inital whiff is mostly flowers. The gardenia comes through very clearly. A deeper smell reveals at least two honeys. Immediately on the skin - wet; Strong, almost overpowering florals. They die almost immediately and I can actually smell three of the five honeys. I'm not that much into it that I can tell which are which, but there's definitely different ones there. Immediately on the skin - dry; Unlike the paper review, as they blend into the skin, the florals keep under the sweetness of the honeys. Intruiging. I'm getting impressions of bright summer days in June, when the whole summer lay ahead of you under crystal blue skies. 1/2 an hour dry; Much more floral now, but the honeys are still there. Delicate, there's a balance between the two that I smelled in the paper review. It comes much more to the fore on the skin. 1 hour dry; There's a powdery scent that's come out underneath the fading of the florals and the honeys. It's very faint, but softens both of the others nicely. 2 hours dry; Something interesting happened. The scent was fading at about an hour and a half. I thought it would take off and disappear. Then I went outside into the humid Ohio day to get my laundry. Walking back, suddenly I'm surrounded by a scent of honey, swirling around me like a happy cloud of bees. My sweat, combined with my body obviously liking florals, seems to have reactivated the scent. At two hours, it is now as strong as when I first put it on. Curiouser and curiouser. Thoughts; It intrigues me to no end that the scent reactivated on me, strong enough to the point where I could actually smell the scent swirling around me as I walked. And while florals may like me, this one is not for me. I am swapping it with a good friend for something else, but I would definitely recommend this for those that like the sweet florals. The honeys are plain and clear as bells on a spring morn. The name, entirely apt.

Skin Flick The Wearing Review Paper Chase The Paper Review In the Imp; Intensely floral. Very strong, almost overpowering. There's a slight cloying sweetness immediately underneath the floral, but it could be easily overlooked. Immediately on the skin - wet; There's an astringency that comes out. Still very strong floral. Jasmine? Gardenia? Something southern. The smell doesn't come to me though. The flowers wrap around my head. The immersion of being on a swing at sunset, flowers growing in the trellises above and around you. Immediately on the skin - dry; The astringency goes away. Still strong floral, but there's something underneath. Strong, dark and deep, but hidden. Like the gator that just pokes his eyes out at the unsuspecting egret. 1/2 an hour dry; Still floral. Still strong. Not much change, though the gator's come a tad bit closer. The florals have taken on a hint of sweetness that I think is nice. 1 hour dry; Florals still there? Yup. Very steady. It's certainly an all-night scent and even after a good hand washing, the scent comes through nice and clear. 2 hours dry; As the two hours comes nigh, the florals finally fade and the moss and cypress begin to come out. Fireflies that begin to sparkle in the night, the stars brought to Earth, listening to the crickets below them. Thoughts; My first thoughts were that it was way too floral, but the undercurrent was what kept me sniffing. As the florals faded, which took quite a long time, I enjoyed the deep running notes of moss and cypress. The evergreen was hinted at, but not really made public. I think the florals masked it a tad too much. On me, the florals faded a tad quicker than on the paper. That is to be expected, but the moss and cypress did not come out any quicker because of it. I enjoyed the longevity and the strength of the scent, even if florals are not my 'thing'. I would, however, most certainly recommend this for women, for the lightness of the florals that blend downward to a heady wrap of flowers. Though not immediately, the word that eventually comes to mind is 'sensual'. Final count is that it's not for me, but I wouldn't object to having it on my lady friends.

Paper Chase The Paper Review NERO In the Imp; In a word? Spicy. The rosemary is very evident. Almost a peppery, but smoother. The lemon isn't real strong, but you know it's there. Immediately on the paper - wet; The rosemary scent smells blended in olive oil. Good ol' Rome. Still extremely spicy, but not so peppery. Good blend out. Immediately on the paper - dry; Ah, there's the lemon. It's come out now, hiding behind the spices. Is that oregano? No, looking at the description, that has to be the bay. I believe the pine is in there, but it's softer. Rocking the lemon in giant, feathery arms... 1/2 an hour dry; Oh, the spices fade down and the lemon fades up! Very interesting switch there. Very clean, but with no astringency that citrus sometimes brings. At the end of the half hour, the lemon has sweetened slightly. 1 hour dry; The spices have blended back to the surface as the lemon faded. Still clean, but a more masculine feel to the scent. 2 hours dry; The lemon blends out after about an hour and a half. The spices grow ever lighter, but what you end up with is a masculine growl of pine that's hinted at from the other side of the spices and what's left of the lemon. Thoughts; Ooo, sign me up for the legions! Wait...that's not exactly het...anyway, I very much enjoyed the smell of this one and look forward to seeing how it works on me, which I will write up for the next review, tomorrow. I like the spiciness that faded quickly. Having it so overpowering is a little offputting at first, but since it heads off so quickly, the lemon that comes out is a welcome brightness. On paper, this one fades quietly, like the dust and debris that buried Herculaeneum on that fateful day in 79ad. What is left is a gentle, but strong hand on your shoulder. A mentor of confidence for the occassion you choose to wear it. Small edit; Sorry, forgot to mention that I got this from a lovely imp sent in a package from Elphaba. Thank you, m'lady! Possibly the lemon at work, but the pine also comes right out to the front. The bay and rosemary take an immediate back seat. Immediately on the skin - dry; The astringency fades and the pine backs off, obviously afraid of something. This leaves the spices to fend for themselves, which softens the lemon and makes for a deep, masculine scent that is at once spicy and also quite mellow. 1/2 an hour dry; Steady and mellow. Still faint and subtle. 1 hour dry; The spices play back and forth with the lemon, rising up and down at different times along the hour. Still subtle. Nice. 2 hours dry; Nuts. I think this one's gone playdough on me...not real sure since it's been a while since I've smelled playdough, but the scent is quite powdery and somewhat sweet. Could be that it's simply run it's course and this is the end of it. After talking with a friend, I've decided that it probably has run it's course. Thoughts; A heady scent, strong, but steady on the skin. Much more mellow in body than on the paper, something I could very much get used to. I am reminded of the writings of Juvenal where he would comment on the rendevous that the nobility revelled in. This scent takes me to a garden on the outskirts of Rome, heady in a summer night of herbs and lust.
