    Kitsune-Tsuki

I got a frimp of this with my last order. It smells rather fruity in the imp, and is quite similar on my skin. Mostly I get the juicy plum and what I think is daffodil (smells like a white floral, so it might be the orchid too) with a bit of jasmine. This has decent throw on me. Very young and flirty. Not really my style, but pretty.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

I know it's not perfect but how about... The Haunted Palace: The moment before the ruin, frozen. The scent of captured glory, of glowing pearls and rubies, of golden sunlit joy and regal grandeur: red rose, Tunisian amber, blood orange, toasted vanilla, heliotrope, gardenia and red musk. Layered with: Bengal:A sultry and unruly blend that emulates the ambient scent of the markets in ancient Bengal: skin musk with honey, peppers, clove, cinnamon bark and ginger. .purchase 5ml. Thank you! Bengal is on my "to try" list, and The Haunted Palace sounds so lovely. It seems like them might combine to create something similar, or at the least, something that smells wonderful.

    Bayou

On me, Bayou is a mossy floral with a touch of aquatic. I get a ton of gardenia from this, as well as some magnolia and jasmine. Personally, I love gardenia, and the aquatics and mosses aren't too strong for me. I can't detect the cypress or woods in here.

    Harlot

In the imp, this smells like a mix of fresh rose and cinnamon, but on my skin it quickly morphs into straight up perfume-y rose. The cinnamon gets completely lost in the shuffle. I am discovering that my skin amps rose to the exclusion of everything else, and Harlot became a casualty of that.

    Belle Vinu

Wet, this is mostly woods, and is much sharper and dryer than I expected. Something (the osmanthus?) gives this a very soapy edge as well. Between the soapiness and the woods, the vanilla and juicy peach are all but overpowered. But after it dries, the woods recede into the background and more of the delicious fresh peach comes out. It's a realistic and tart note, and it goes so well with the woods! I really enjoyed the dry stage of this blend, but I wasn't wild about the wet stage. I think it is worth waiting for the lovely drydown, I just wish that wasn't necessary.

    Perversion

I love Perversion even more than I thought I would! This scent smells. Like. Sex. At first, I smell a lot of smokey spiciness from the rum and tobacco. As it dries, the leather comes out a bit more, and I can detect a bit of tang from the chardonnay. The tonka keeps it a bit sweet and rich. But over all this blend is a single, smooth, smokey-sexy scent.

    Roses, Pearls, and Diamonds

I received this as a frimp with my last order. I wasn't very optimistic about trying this; I've discovered that rose scents often amp like crazy on me, and so a "hint" of rose becomes a rose bulldozer! Luckily, this blend was an exception. The rose is distinctly present, but light, and the body of the perfume is a rich, creamy mix of coconut and musk. As it dries, the rose fades away and the musk becomes more pronounced. This blend has more throw that I had expected for a light blend, but it's still not very strong. After an hour or so, this scent remains close to the skin. It's a lovely blend, and may be the rose blend I've been looking for.

    Paramatman

I received a free imp of this in my last order, and when I looked at the notes, I was very excited to try this. Sadly, on me, the combination of orange blossom and sandalwood (both notes I love) combine to create a very dry, bitter, industrial-soapy scent that is not only quite unpleasant but also very strong. Not for me.

    Dragon's Claw

Out of the imp that I ordered, this only smelled like a very harsh, dry sandalwood, but my skin the dragon's blood comes out more. At first, this was a bit too strong for me, with quite a prominent throw. After it dries, the sandalwood softens up and more of the dragon's blood comes out, and it almost goes a bit powdery. I don't love it, but I like it. I also think it might be nice layered with something else, to temper the sandalwood's intensity at first.

    Hellcat

I got this as a frimp from the lab, and I was pretty wary, because I haven't liked any cake-y buttercream-y scents yet. And straight from the imp I got mostly buttercream with almond. I was sure this was going to be too sweet, but on my wrist it immediately morphed into rum and honey. There was a bit of almond there at the beginning, but that's gone now. I'm not sure why, but this also smells rather spicy on me. I smell like the most delicious hot toddy ever! I am totally surprised by how much I like this one. I am definitely going to have to try some more boozy scents in the future.

    Faiza, the Black Mamba (2006)

This was the very first bottle I ever ordered totally unsniffed. I was so afraid, but now that it's arrived, I am so glad I took the risk! This scent is incredibly hard to describe. The many notes blend together to create a lovely green scent that isn't too fruity, too woody, or too floral. I'm actually have trouble picking out notes in this. This reminds me of a green sandalwood perfume made by Fresh that I once owned; it has the same tangy, woody greenness to it. I think that I can pick out the amber, green sandalwood, and musk in the background. The fruits and the ginger seem pretty prominent to me. As it dries it gets a bit more soapy, but also softer and a bit spicy (maybe that's the carraway?). All in all, this is a lovely, complex scent that is both unusual and sophisticatedly sexy. ETA: The more I wear this, the more I love it. It has a great, juicy cirus scent when wet, and as it dries it becomes almost smokey. UNF.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

A quick disclaimer: if this is in the wrong topic, please let me know! I placed an order with CCNow on May 17th, and it is still listed as "Awaiting Shipment." This is only my second order, so I may have been spoiled by the Lab's speed in downloading (or reaping, etc) my last order from CCNow. Is this long of a wait between placing an order and the Lab receiving it typical? Thanks! ETA: I realized that I should have updated this quite a while ago! Not more than a day or two after posting this, the status in my CCNow receipt updated itself, and I have since received my order. False alarm.

This smelled very foody sweet in the bottle, but on my skin the sandalwood and bergamot are stronger than the sweet french vanilla. The florals from the orchids are also quite strong. Overall, there is a distinctly sweet strawberry note that carries over into the drydown, which becomes more floral and vanilla-y with some sandalwood, although not as foody as it smelled in the bottle. I personally was beyond pleased because I was hoping this would not be too sickly foody sweet, and I think this perfume strikes a perfect balance between the sweet and less sweet elements in this blend. In short, it's everything I was hoping it would be!
  14. When I smelled this in my decanted imp, I immediately got a blast of heady, bubbly tangerine, with some candied sweetness. Unfortunately, on my skin this goes rather soapy, and not in a pleasantly clean way, but in more of a "windex" kind of way. When wet it has a fairly strong, spicy throw that I'm guessing is the combination of the citruses and the red pepper. I'm not getting any red musk, unfortunately. As it dries, more of the geranium is making an appearance, and I think that's what is turning soapy on my skin. I was really looking forward to this one, but I think it's just not for me. ETA: I think the throw for this is actually getting stronger as it dries (?!) and it's becoming completely overwhelming. I might have to wash this one off.
  15. I was worried that this might be too sweet for me, especially because it is very sweet in the imp. When it's wet, this is also VERY sweet, but after about 5 minutes some of the sweetness burns off, leaving a sweet, warm floral. The pear and coconut are prominent, and I'm also getting some of the incense in the background. As it dries, the incense and carnation come forward even more to temper the sweetness. Although this scent is lovely, it has a very low throw. It would probably be a good candidate for slathering.
  16. Wet, this was lovely tobacco flower on me, somewhat white and paper-y, if that makes any sense. I could already smell the woods in the background as well. As this dried, the sandalwood and teakwood REALLY take the lead, and it's fantastic! A wood-lover's heaven. If I really search, I can find a bit of vanilla muskiness in the far background, but this is all about the lovely wood scents and tobacco flower. Wonderful.

    Knockout Drops

I just got an imp of this through a decant circle. In the imp it smells of mint and tart fresh citrus, like a mojito! I thought this was awesome, although I could see how others might not agree. When first applied, the citrus is very tart. The mint is also in the foreground, and they are supported by a creamy sweetness that I think might be the meringue and white chocolate. As it dries, the lemon recedes a bit, leaving mostly mint, meringue and some white chocolate. After a while, I'm left with those scents and a light, slightly bitter herbal note that I think is the absinthe, which keeps it from being just sweetness. This had a surprising amount of throw on me for a fresh, citrus-y type of scent. I love this, and may have to buy a bottle.

    Darkness

I received this as a freebie from a lovely forum member. In the imp this smelled very smokey, which interested me. On my skin, however it's actually a perfect balance of florals (from the narcissus), smoke (from the myrrh), and a deep, dark sweetness (from the opium, I assume). As it dries, I found that the strange sweetness of the opium and the narcissus come to the forefront, while the myrrh tags along behind them. It is present, but not very heavy on me, with a moderate throw. What a lovely and evocative scent.

    Tezcatlipoca

In the imp, this smells like cocoa powder. But wet on my skin the patchouli and cocoa are fighting for dominance, and they combine to make this smell kind of sour...which is not good. Eventually, it dries down to mostly a woody patchouli and incense with some leather. Still, that wet stage means this one is not for me.

    Coyote

From the imp and wet on my skin, this is dusty grasses and leather. It's a lighter scent. I also smell some of the amber peeking through, but not any musk that I can detect. Although this smells lovely as it dries down, getting more ambery and hay-like, my skin absolutely eats this scent. After about an hour and a half, there's nothing left.

    Les Bijoux

Skin musk and honey, blood-red rose, orange blossom, white peach, red apple, frankincense and myrrh. I received an imp of this from Dralore as part of a Pay-It-Forward pack of imps. In the imp, this smelled like apple and a touch of florals. On my skin though, this smells like a delicious, ripe, juicy fruit. The peach and apple are definitely the stars; I also got a bit of a citrus-y floral freshness which might have been from the orange blossom and/or rose? Overall, on me this was almost all fruit and some honey sweetness. As it dries, I got more honey and rose with some musk. I can't find the frankincense or myrrh in here to save my life, but I really don't mind. This smells deliciously fruity without being overwhelmingly sweet. Really, I practically wanted to take a bite out of my arm while testing this!

    Phobos

In the vial: sharp, tart, fresh lemon. Wet: The same fresh lemon, with a hint of grapefruit. Drydown: The fresh lemon juice smell has faded somewhat, and I get more of the green-lemony smell of lemongrass, as well as the white musk. This is a very light scent with very little throw. It would be nice for hot weather, or for anyone who likes refreshing citrus scents. Once dry, it reminds me of the dry stage of Fresh's Lemon Sugar perfume.

    Kabuki

I received this as a frimp with my first order, and I have to say that this is just not for me. Both in the imp and on my skin, the cherry and anise combine to produce what smells (to me) like a strong, cherry cough syrup. I'm not sure if my nose is very sensitive to the cherry or if my skin amps it, but I found this so strong on my skin that I couldn't wait to wash it off. So, this is for cherry lovers, but not for me!

    Seraglio

I ordered an imp of this with my first order. I love the scent of almonds, and I was super excited to try this. Sadly, on me the Bulgarian rose totally takes over and obliterates all other notes. I should have known better, since I have a Bulgarian rose fragrance that also becomes overwhelming on me. I'm disappointed because the other notes sounds as thought they would be lovely together. Unfortunately, this scent is not for me.

    Queen Alice

I received this as a frimp with my first order. In the imp, I mostly smell the spicy carnations and the wine, with just a hint of fruity sweetness. On my skin, however, the floral notes and the cider bloom. I can still detect the wine and the sweetness that I'm guessing is the treacle. There's also a hint of a powdery dustiness, that must be sand? I don't know! It all blends together very harmoniously. As it dries down I'm getting mostly carnation and wine, and perhaps a bit of the white amber in the very background. It's actually becoming more of a sweet-based floral as it dries. This scent has a light throw on me, and it remains present but not overwhelming. This is a lovely scent, and is definitely something I could see myself wearing every day.
