Oooh! No, I completely missed Perversion. That looks absolutely delicious! I'll have to try it. I've grown quite a collection, too -- so maybe there's something you'd like to give a whirl on my list? I haven't tried Coyote yet, either. I'm not generally a grassy person, so it didn't make it onto my wish list. So far, Smokestack, Tombstone and Kitty are my absolute favorites. Smokestack turns into this ashy cedar meat-smoker smell on me that is strange and alluring at the same time. Tombstone smells like root beer candies, but only if you're (RIGHT HERE) next to me. Kitty is just ... amazing. Sweet and edible -- it smells completely different on my sister than it does me, which cracks me up. I'm really disappointed in Dwarf and Antikythera Mechanism! They sound like they're designed for me in specific, but they just melt into baby powder on me. (I even dabbed Dwarf on my Varric jacket in hope that having some layers between it and my sweaty skin would help it, but it just ... evaporated.) I'm really starting to think that the BPAL "metal" scent is something I need to avoid, no matter how much I love it -- my skin just twists and contorts it beyond recognition. ;_;

I really, really, really wanted this one to work on me. I love dwarves. I always play dwarves for RPGs. Metal, stone and leather sounded amazing. ...And I don't get any of it. Dwarf comes out of the bottle smelling like wet metal filings, but turns into nothing but men's cologne on my skin. I was hoping the cologne smell would give way to something sharper and stronger, but it didn't. Within twenty minutes, all I could smell was this eye-stinging baby-powder scent so strong that I had to run to the bathroom and vigorously scrub it off. It breaks my heart. ;_; On the other hand, it smells just like it should on my boyfriend. He smells like he's been working in a machine shop all day, covered in metal and leather with a light gravelly smell underneath it. He smells amazing. I'm jealous.

Smokestack

BOTTLE: I'm not going to lie. It smells a bit like an ashtray. It's smoky and ashy and ... oh, there's a sweetness there that I think may be the cresote. I kind of want to roll around in it, but at the same time, I can imagine the commentary my mother will have about smelling like an ashtray. Smell deeper! It's not cigarettes! Swisher Sweets, at it's worst! D: WET: The sweet smell is amps on my skin. The acrid smoke is still there (and I do NOT recommend eating after putting this on -- everything tastes like ash), but it's very sweet and alluring. Cedar, maybe? Cresote? Maybe even ... nutmeg? DRY: Holy crap. A scent that doesn't turn into baby powder in the dry down. I think I'm in love. LATER: Stilll smells smokey and ashy and ... I'm pretty sure that's cedar. Cedar or tobacco. Either way, I'm not complaining! -
BOTTLE: I was really excited to get this imp in the mail. I love the spicy notes of pepper, clove and ginger. I love basil. I love metal. It's ... well, it has the recipe for awesomeness. In the bottle, it smells dark and hidden. I can't make out any of the smells, but the clove definitely sticks to the tongue. It's ... alluring. WET: On my skin, it's much more present. It's still dark and slick, which I think may be the metal, but all I can smell is clove and ginger. It's not bad. I definitely like how it leaves a flavor in my mouth. DRY: It turned to baby powder within the hour. There's a hint of myrrh if I'm looking for it, but it's all baby powder. LATER: It's allllll baby powder. There's not even a hint of myrrh anymore. It's a shame. I love the scent of Iron Phoenix. I'll have to look into a scent locket for it.

BOTTLE: Lemongrass! It's a green lemon smell, not hard lemons like lemonade or lemon pledge. It's soft and herbal. WET: On me, it's much more lemon pledge. It's not bad, though. I like lemon pledge. My sister says it smells like lemon balm, and she has this giant happy smile plastered across her face while saying it. There is a very crisp ... metal smell, there. I don't know if it's ozone or ... someone said chrome, earlier, but tin may not be all that far off. It's a very light, cool metal smell under the lemon. I'm digging this one, which is a good thing, since I tried it on from the bottle and got it all over the place. ^^; DRY: Alight, it's been about an hour since I put it on. The lemongrass has faded back a bit, but it is still predominant. I can smell the mint peaking through, just a tiny bit, since I'm looking for it. The metal tinge has given way to baby-powder, though. Tin Phoenix is my favorite so far, but I really wish things would stop turning into baby-powder on my skin. :\

I don't like dirt or roses, so I got this one for my sister. Here is her review: BOTTLE: Floral. Kinda soapy. WET: Wet dirt. I don't know what kind of dirt it smells like. I don't think I would classify it as graveyard dirt. I don't know what graveyard dirt smells like, though. Maybe I should go around sniffing graveyard dirt. Anyway. It's like potting soil. The mineral enriched kind. It has kind of a green smell, though. Like fresh dirt. Good fresh dirt. DRY: Smells like crushed roses. No more dirt. I liked the dirt. I bet this would layer well...

I really like this one on my sister. Here is her review: BOTTLE: Sweet. Citrusy. Green. WET: Smells like strawberries and ... tastes like vanilla. I can kind of smell cedar. You know, it reminds me of those strawberry pine trees in Flagstaff, after a rain. How weird. DRY: Strawberries and vanilla. I imagine this is what Strawberry Shortcake would smell like. You know, the character. The weird thing is, on one side of my wrist, it's strawberries. On the other? It's sandalwood. Strawberry, sandalwood. Strawberry, sandalwood. Weird.

In the Bottle: I think one of the imps I purchased leaked into the packaging, because everything I picked up smelled floral and powdery. I wiped everything down and took a nose break before returning to MIRI. The floral smell was still there, but now it was much more ... violet? I really wanted to smell that shiny metal and ozone, but all I smell are those little purple flowers in gift shops. Violets. Not big on them. Wet: Okay, on me, there's something far less violet and far more green. Soft green. Not mint. I think it's the sage. It smells light and powdery, but not in a baby-powder way, which is a good thing. Still no metals or ozone, though. Dry: The violet's back. The green is gone. My nose tickles now, though, which I'm pretty sure is the mint. I usually pick up on mint really quickly, though, and I don't smell it. Hour Later: I'm catching whiffs of violet and sage. Still no ozone or metal. I expected much more mint and metal from this blend, so I'm disappointed. My boyfriend says it's nice, though, so I'll give it another shot.

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

I think Mako would look deceptively green and soothing, but then slap you in the face when you unleashed it. Eucalyptus, maybe? Volt: Leather with a shock of eucalyptus, green mint, elemi, ravintsara, and lime. The Coil has the ozone note, but seems a little too floral: The Coil: Ozone, eucalyptus and mint with purple orchid, passionflower, white ginger, and purple lotus. -

9: The last of the Time Lords. Angry, bitter, and covered in destruction. Sacrifice: Sweetgrass and tumbleweeds, cedar and white sage, dusty, wet leather, woodsmoke, and blood. 10: A little lighter, but still sharp. Nice suit. Kelly Pool: Worsted wool, teakwood, and bois du rose. Donna: Funny, sweet, and often overwhelming. I Fell In Love with a Floating Brain: Spongy grey and pink cake, with sweet strawberry cream, giddy carnation, and electrical pulses of white grapefruit. Jack: Manly, but whimsical. 413 U.S. 15 / Miller Vs California: Leather, cognac, fig, ripe berry, and cream, stuffed into a plain brown paper bag. Martha: Medical professional; no time to smell flowery. White Rabbit: Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen. Mickey: Time traveler. Warrior. Punk kid. (ILU!) The Blockhead: Rusted metal, leather, and a pop of pink bubblegum. River: Archeologist or cat-burglar, I can never tell... Clio (Muses): Dry parchment of scrolls, lavender for critical thought and analysis, the solidity of heavy woods, ornery patchouli and glib benzoin, and superstar-splashed orange and amber. Rose: Kataniya, the Clockwork Woman: Gentle flowers over hot metal, shocked to life with electricity. -
Mary Read keeps going on and off my wishlist. I think I'll keep an eye out for both, though. Thank you.

Oo oo oo! Me next, me next! I'm short, blonde, geeky and pretty hilarious -- or so the rumor goes. I'm female, 25 years old, (going on 42), and have always been seen as "one of the boys" by all of the girls. I have a minor in Computer Programming languages with quite a few extra credits dumped into English and Japanese. My chosen career involves scripting and translation for video games but, alas, I am celebrating my fifth year behind a desk at a veterinary clinic. I always wanted to be Indiana Jones when I grew up, but it turns out I'm much more suited for obsessive compulsive levels of research and bug collecting rather than tomb-raiding. (Sigh.) I enjoy space operas, (Star Wars, Mass Effect & Firefly), feudal fiction (Robin Hood, Dragon Age, anything involving samurai), pirates (steampunk and sky-pirates are bonuses!), and all around scoundrels. My sunny side, which I like to keep under wraps, thrives on conflict, snark, and puns (really, really bad ones). I grew up in Las Vegas, so I'm a desert girl: lots of sand and sun and sky. The smells of creosote, chlorine and wet concrete make me a happy person. Tombstone (vanilla, balsam, sassafras, cedar) and Antikythera Mechanism (teakwood, oak, black vanilla, and tobacco) are my first purchases -- waiting on them to arrive, any day now -- and Good (musk, vanilla, honey, acacia, and sugar cane) and Soldier (musk, vanilla, black tea, black pepper, leather, and pie) are already on my wishlist. I should also point out that I enjoy costuming and cosplay: I am a heavy fighter in the Society for Creative Anachronism, a future member of the Mandalorian Mercenaries (as soon as I can convince aluminum plating to complement my curves), and have been known to attend comic and anime conventions as Integra Hellsing and Celes Chere (strong women I admire). My upcoming costume list consists of Commander Jane Shepard's N7 armor, Varric Tethras crossplay, and a genderbent Vash the Stampede. Have at!
