It's all about the ginger spicy root. It's a zingy (not juicy) ginger disguised in citrus and apricot. It reminds me of a dried ginger root-citrus tea sachet. The blend has a dry quality about it.

December 2019: I get a lush mildly sweet white floral, gardenia most likely. It's a bit dewy, not at all waxy. A pretty decent floral for those who abhor floral scents. June 2019: 7 months later, in the summertime, it morphs into a briney aquatic, with traces of incense. Reminds of Ogygia from the GC catalogue.

In the opening, i get the the dry crunchy leaves, backed with some tartness from the currants. Gradually the leaves subside and are replaced with some tempered smokiness. The cake and tea notes mingle with the smokiness and feels very cozy and refined.

Smells like fancy Italian soap. I get beautiful soapiness with traces of clove and bay leaf, supposedly the spiced rum accord. If you;re looking for a blend mimicking a bar of clove/ bay rum spice soap, this is it !

I get blood musk mixed with cotton candy. Smells a bit gothic and dark. I expected more strawberry and lavender. Somehow this blend smells to me hollow, as if the there's a void pushing away all notes.

2019 decant: I picked this one up without any expectation. This has to be one the best Snake Oil variations out there. The leather note is the kind i like and mixes so well with the SO. As i wear it, it doesn't scream leather to me, but more like a cozy caramelized buttery leathery Snake Oil.This is too gorgeous i can't even find the right words to describe how amazing this smells.

The opening is gorgeous, mandarin with almond and some snake oil spices. What comes next is totally left field, the blend disappears from my skin so fast and i'm left with a trace of faint myrrh. I thought the almond would reign supreme here together with the SO base. Total bummer!

Sharp apple and oranges to the point that i can't make out anything else of this blend. As time goes by, the apple become less strong, but sadly it's the only thing that survives on my skin, faint apple scented nail polish remover.

The Wild Men of Jezirat Al Tennyn (2016)

This is a beautiful spicy moss, delicately clad on a bed of amber patchouli. I can discern the clove, but it behaves beautifully and doesn't scream at you. This blend is a bit reminiscent of A Wild and Naught Girl, yet it's much more gentle and calmer than the latter. If you prefer quiet smokey clove scents, try it. -
I get no beeswax, only some bright fruity floral

This reminds me a lot of Aquolina - Blue Sugar. The honey, leather and cookies create this sparkly shimmering aura. I get whiffs of cotton candy for some weird reason.

Wildflower Honey and Patchouli

A chewy honeyed patchouli. Very wearable and refined and has long wear length. -
Toffee was strong when applied wet, but later on it smells like tobacco musk. No trace of rose or pepper.
-
It's a jasmine centered blend that doesn't go stinky. The oudh does a good job keeping the jasmine in check. It's not a sweet jasmine, but a tiny tad smoky one. Smells beautiful and would be best worn for fall/ early winter.

Labdanum reigns supreme on my skin...a bit fuzzy...and some tobacco adds depth. A resin tobacco blend with a mild fizz,

The pomegranate has sucked the life out of the SO and i'm left with the tart twang of the fruit over a a sweet hazy incense base.

This smells like a 70s citrus chypre fragrance for men. This blend captures so well for me a particular style of fragrances for men that were popular in the mid to late 70s, the citrus chypre/ fougere ones but on the lighter side. I get a citrus notes mingling with the herbal ones on a bed of tobacco and lavender (i would have mistaken the latter notes for oakmoss and leather). Really outstanding!

6 year later this smells like lush lilac pulverized with citron mist. Clean lemony lilac. Delightful!

A low throw, skin scent. I smell some strawberry over a mellow light floral base. The scent disappears so fast on my skin. If gentle fruity florals are your thing, give this a chance.

The blend of leather, musk, vetiver, incense and brimstone just gives off this fecal vibe. It doesn't get better with time.

It's a beautiful soft white musk, like a gentle white soap bar foam. The frank lurks around the edges and grounds the olfactory experience. Nothing infernal or diabolical about it.

It's a beautiful resinous lavender with gentle strokes of black pepper, but it's so much more. The blend has a soporific and buttery texture and the lavender gives it a swift kick. Very very evocative and beautiful.

Freshly applied it smelled really citrusy and high pitched. But after 1 hour i smell a delicate soapy lily.

Smokestack

This is an usual blend that makes BPAL stand out in the sea of perfume houses. It's hard for me to pin point specifically what i'm smelling, but i can say for a fact that i get vetiver, wood, some sort of musk, maybe opium and something that conjures or mimics engine oil or oily residues. This is a dark woody oily blend.
