2017: I smelled the pumpkin note before in so many BPAL Pumpkin Patches. It has a extra jolt of sweetness and a bit buttery.

Dead Leaves, Sweet Myrrh, Leather, Green Pomelo, and Red Currant
theredkilt replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Halloweenie
Fresh it smelled like chemical leather and savory green bell peppers. As time passed, this lost its potency and smells a lot more rounded. There's a green element most likely from the pomelo and underlying sweetness to balance the leaves and leather. Final drydown is a shadow leather and leaves sweetened by the myrh with nuances of green pomelo and sparks of red currant.- 2 replies

My skin brings out the sour savory spices and some barely-there fruit. No sweetness, no coffee, no smoke. *sad face*

Holly Balls! On my skin this is a soapy aldehydic blend and OMG, it gives me Chanel No.5 vibes, i kid you not! The opening is a full on aldehydic heaven with some chypre green nuances and feels like a vintage discontinued perfume extrait. The drydown is a mellow and plush clean scent with some powder around the edges. Totally unexpected and amazing!

This blend reminds me of a Russian variety of boiled milk, called "Baked Milk". It is made by simmering milk on low heat for eight hours or longer, until it is coated with a brown crust. This give the milk a creamy color and a caramel flavor. Truth Will Prevail is exactly this beverage and is oh so gourmand!!!

Oh boy! This is such an epiphany scent for me. It's a creamy vanilla lemony/ petitgrain with a powdery white musk supporting base. It's fizzy from time to time, but that wears off fast. Overall a gorgeous blend, never smelt anything like it before. Total love!

This smells A LOT like A Shadow in the Elevator, except that the latter is a bit woodier and has a slightly bitter drydown or finish to the drydown (could be the vetiver / musk combo). A Savage... is more refined, to my nose, in that regard and the drydown works much better for me. The plum note is more rounded and melds well with the tobacco leaf. Elevator is more centered around patch/musk with plum notes over a restrained vetiver base.

I have aged my botlle for almost 3 months because i couldn't exactly pinpoint the drydown in terms of what the final olfactive result was. What i get on the drydown now are the spicy notes of Snake Oil on a layer of sheer light orris and a somewhat muted white frankincense note. The throw is not huge, but with age this could improve.

2008 decant: On my skin it turns into burnt sugar with a bitter tone, but after some minutes the burnt sugar note takes over. No candied fruit in sight. This reminds a lot of Sticky Pillowcase from the same year. I recall i tested some years ago a decant from the 2012 release and it was such a gorgeous blend, while the 2008 decant is completely a whole different scent. Oh well...

2005 batch: This is very dense and oily. It's hard to discern the drydown. There's defenitely frank and myrh but the florals are just non-descript.

it's an ethereal salty lilac, very airy and light. No jasmine or lavender in sight.

This is a rich tobacco blend and although wood is not listed, it reads to me as smoky tobacco wood. I try to discern the clove and the patchouli, but the oil is so well blended that i can't distinguish any particular notes. Really beautiful smoky (verging into charred) tobacco blend with faint hints of unsweetened dark chocolate. The drydown reminds a lot of Solstice Scents's Maplewood Inn.

It's such a beautiful sweet ethereal blend. I can discern the almond blossom, the white tea and some of the currant's tartness. Calms down to a light sweet smell with an element of airiness.

I have been using this oil for the past 3 months and i was trying to figure out what does it remind me of. It's in the same family as The Deep Ones, but with a more sandy texture. I associate this blend with crushed seashells and salty ocean water washing over the seashore sand.

This oil really blossomed on my skin in the summertime. It morphed into sandalwood cherry tobacco. Really nice!

The Emperor's Crown on my skin is a dead ringer for Penitence. All i get is frankincense, no lemon peel, bergamot or styrax. If you like a dry resin blend, get this.

Dead Leaves, Pineapple, Patchouli, and Vetiver
theredkilt replied to Failmingo's topic in Halloweenie
The dead leaves, patchouli, pineapple and vetiver combo is a killer! It's a crunchy leafy scent rounded up by the pineapple sweetness and juiciness. Sometimes the pineapple stomps over the leaves, other times it stays in the background. It's overall very wearable and summer-appropriate.- 7 replies

It's so fruity and cheery and moderately sweet (as in fruity fragrant sweet). Perfect for summer time! Sometimes I get a Juicy Fruit gum vibe, but it's still pleasant!

This had some strong throw. The pumpkin spice is so strong, but it dries down to a green amber spicy concoction. The pumpkin spice note is indeed overpowering.

The banana note smells a bit chemical/sharp and retains this vibe throughout the entire time. It's a sweetened tobacco, but not the best kind for me. The banana note ruins it for me.

Imagine Dorian stripped off the lemon tea and muskiness and put on some sensual tonka. A pity that wear length is short lived on my skin

Frostbitten Bliss smells like powdery creamy milk chocolate with a hint of plastic. The plastic is barely there but sort of messes up my scent interpretation.

The pumpkin spice renders such a beautiful rounded sweetness appropriate for the fall season. It smell so comforting, but really little resembles to the original Embalming Fluid. It reminds me so much of a Kenzo perfume.
