    Pomegranate Cider

I can distinguish the cider part, but not the apple from the pom. The two notes are well blended either way. The pink peppercorn gives off a gentle zing. The fermentation facet looses its strength over time and you are left with an airy apple pom.

    Alice

Carnation, milk, honey and shimmers of bergamot. Very beautifully balanced. Later on the carnation and milk shine the most. I've come to the realization that the best BPAL blends are in the General Catalog ❤️

    Knave of Snowflakes

On my skin the Snow White coconut chill overtakes everything. The buttery pastry is trying to crack through the layer of Snow White's chill, but ultimately fails.

    Frostbitten Knave of Hearts

    Murderous Frogs

green apples with a citrus kick and something vaguely vegetal and powdery.

    Le Lèthè

This is a rare instance when red musk behaves on my skin. The red musk is drenched in tobacco, labdanum and nutmeg and I'm happy that the red musk usual incensey quality is muted here. Later on the tobacco and labdanum assert themselves and shut the dancefloor down. So good, spicy resiny tobacco gourgeousness ❤️

    Clown Footstool

I get only buttercream and vanilla sugar. I was really expecting some serious white flowers action. I sniffed and sniffed the drydown incessantly, but no sign of the gardenia or tuberose.

Wild Plum, Green Tea, and White Jasmine

Right off the bat the wild plum comes out shining. It's neither sweet or sour. Then the green tea joins the party, giving off a fresh bright vibe, like green tea always does. Later on the jasmine shows up and i know it because i smell threads of something lightly smoky wafting through the air. The blend manages to stay fresh with accents of plum and a bit of gravitas from the jasmine. It's a fruity floral with the green tea keeping the other two notes in check.

Two Women on Veranda Overlooking the Sea

When i put it on, there's a green aquatic element here that reminds of something from the GC collection. I have figured it out!!! This is a wonderful replacement for Herbert West from the Lovecraft collection. The rose in both blends are so much alike, perhaps the one here is a tad bit more aquatic and green tinged. A green aquatic transparent rose 🌹

    Coffee Bean, Cacao, and Khus

I feared this trio would end up acrid because of the coffee bean and smoky because of the vetiver, but it wasn't the case at all. The cacao note doesn't go powdery at all, it enhances the remaining two notes and gives off a bit of sweetness. The coffee bean comes out more and more and gets a bit smoky. As time goes by, it echoes to me of a drier version of Jiaolong only a whole lot less sugar syrupy and much less dense. Go get yourselves a bottle of this trio while it's still up. It could've easily been part of the Koffeeklatsch Yule blends or Lupercalia Cocoa blends.

    Shango

Aged Shango is the best because is settles down and doesn't smell as overwhelming as when it's fresh. The drydown on my skin brings out the red apples, very realistic and pleasant. I'm happy with the outcome considering the plethora of notes.

    Wanton Airs, Bodiless Airs

I'm so happy to have blind bottled it before it was discontinued. It's an airy sweetish cognac with a smidge of bergamot twang anchored on a bed of oud. It's airy and a tad transparent, but still robust and well defined.

    The Soap Bubbles

Right off the bat, i smell the mandarin and pom wrapped in this detergent-like cleanliness. Little by little the dry fruits emerge, enhancing the tang of the pom and the whole blend moves a bit into the powdery territory. It's a clean frankinsence/ champa base with mandarin and tangy pom and dried fruits anchored in there. I wanted this to be a bit sweeter and headier because there's brandy and jasmine, but alas 🤷‍♂️

The Wind Strike Chill and Cold

I get lilac and refreshing white mint. Sometimes this echoes Salt Phoenix to me mainly due to the lilac, but without the salt note and lavender. Over time the white mint puts in check the lilac headiness and you get a melange of those two notes. Can't wait to wear it in the sprintime.

Dead Leaves, Praline, and Sheer Vanilla

I don't get any dead leaves here, maybe a whisper of a ghostly vanilla. What i also get is a note akin to white cotton or white suede, a bit smelling like iris and white musk. As time goes by, there's a bit of a plastic vibe emerging, but it doesn't overwhelm the scent. Clean white sheer cotton/ cloth - that's the visual i'm getting.

    Anticipation

The orange blossom and sandalwood reign supreme here. There's also a pickle vibe, mostly due to the sandalwood. In the end, the orange blossom here is just too much for me.

    Dead Leaves, and Ginger Spice

This reminds me A LOT of the "Dead leaves, cocoa and cinnamon" Atmo spray. I smell the cinnamon and something else deep and sweet. No ginger in sight. This blend is more along the lines of Dead Leaves and Sweet Cinnamon.

    Champa Orchid, Chocolate, and Vetiver

Somehow the floral block of this trio dominates on my skin. The chocolate as expected leaves the party, and the champa orchid morphs into champa and the vetiver gives it a bit of oomph. Soap-ish champa on little pedestal of vetiver.

    Be Happy Still Lil

Out of a bunch of Lilith decants, this was the ONLY one peeking my interest, let alone blowing my mind shortly thereafter. Upon sniffing the decant pippette, i get a whiff of a beautiful zesty ripe orange fruit mixed with the floral (green) element of the orange blossom. I'm amazed how this doesn't smell like the usual soapy orange blossom note...it also gives me some sort of note association with honeysuckle about to bloom. On my skin, it's a zesty orange / green orange blossom combo, slowly transforming into a green floral. Little by little the lotus root comes out, the white musk starts asserting itself, while the orange blossom subsides. Later on, the scents shifts into a clean white musk and gentle sweet lotus. The lotus is very dainty, not bubblegummy. In the end it's a clean white musk with accents of barely sweet lotus root and a very tiny bit of orange blossom soapiness ghostly wafting in the background.

    Torta Setteveli

I should have not pulled the trigger blindly on this one. I hoped this would be a gooey, viscous decadent choco desert, but sadly it didn't get there. Generally the BPAL choco gourmands are not skin-friendly with me, except for Bliss. It didn't have the oomph i expected and sadly turned into thin chocolate powder with hints of hazelnuts. I'm sad 🥺

    The Jersey Devil

I'm shocked! This reminds me so much of the 2016 Yule Road to Versailles at Louvenciens. It's the same cream soda effervescent vibe. I'm truly smitten.

    Aureus

Aureus really reminds me a lot of the now discontinued Sri Lanka. Sandalwood, frankincense and maybe a hint of musk. Very well suited for meditation sessions.

    A Sorceress

I admit there's an underlying funk here, but the trick here is that you have to take this scent for a walk outside and that is where it blooms. The lotus amber vanilla/tonka trio comes alive and brings the slinky serpent scale accord to the forefront. I'm intrigued. I feel like this would have fit in the Crimson Peak line.

    Witches at Their Incantations

A beautiful melange of resins. The olibanum is the one standing out the most, but oppoponax joins the party fast. So far it smells so good in a sweet resin fragrant way. After some time the myrrh comes in and it gives me Streets of Detroit vibes. A very bewitching scent, but i doubt this is how witchcraft incantations of yore would smell like. Update: the champaca pops up in the end and morphs everything in some sort of a clean soap-like concoction. Champaca can sometimes smell like white musk/ soap bubbles on my skin.

Lemon Peel, Jasmine Tea, and Honeycomb

This was an unexpected winner for me. When freshly tested, the jasmine tea overwhelmed everything. I kept getting a smoky quality which jasmine can give off. I let the bottle rest for a week and tested it again. The 2nd time around the blend completely did a 180. The lemon peel and honeycomb showed up to the Jasmine Tea party. The Jasmine Tea was still the star of the trio, but less in your face and had a beautiful spark around it courtesy of the lemon peel and a tad of sweetness.
