In the imp, the candyish scent of pomegranate was very strong. I was afraid that it would be overwhelming, as it was in several blends. Well, it wasn't the pomegranate I had to worry about. Wet, the rose and pomegranate married to become a sharpish, womanly scent. It really put me in mind of an Alphonse Mucha painting. Definitely out of my fragrance comfort zone, but as I felt like being adventurous, I applied more. After it dried, I was enveloped in a cloud of heady roses. Persephone has some serious throw to it. I felt like I was trailing clouds of scent behind me as I walked, and the rose smell was nearly suffocating to me. That was at 5 pm yesterday. It's now 6:30 am, and my wrist still smells of roses. That's some strong stuff, there.

Oddly enough, this smells almost exactly like Miskatonic University! The same sweetness and dark edge...it just lacks the coffee notes that predominate in MU. I like it, but not as quite as much as Miskatonic.

In the bottle, this smelled of bay leaf, strong and sharp. Wet, it was very masculine, but settled into a distressingly strong sage smell. Sadly, the cedarwood didn't make an appearance at all. I didn't much like it, and neither did the husband.

In the imp, this was a strong aquatic blend, with a slap of ozone. On my skin, the ozone slowly cleared, leaving the tang of salt air and a gentle hint of violets. It's light and very subtle, and I imagine it would be good for summertime wear.

Wet to dry, this was a sweetened balsam; greenery and spice. In other words, it smells nothing like the ingredients described above. However, it is sweet and beautiful, just perfect for someone who is nice.

On me, it was a sour floral with a bit of an aquatic edge. I assume the sourness was the moss. I didn't like it at all.

It starts out with the scent of bitter oranges, but the citrus burns off much too soon, leaving a woody kind of smell. I didn't care for it. It was gone in a couple hours, and I can't say I noticed much in the way of added moxie to my demeanor.

Let me quote 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' here. "It smells like church. No, wait - evil church."

On me, this was an acrid, old-lady kind of floral smell. Bleah.
-
Eh. It's a nice, light, kind of dusty floral - if you like that sort of thing. It lived up to its name, though, as it was quite short-lasting.

Beautiful. The cinnamon keeps the roses from being cloying. I might actually hang on to this one. Sadly, no sexual dreams resulted from its use. I was pleased to see that I didn't have any adverse skin reaction to the cinnamon (the woman who passed it on to me apparently had a very bad reaction to it.)

From the imp, I thought this would be an overwhelming aquatic, but it turned out to be a clean, crisp citrus smell, kind of grapefruit-y. This'll be perfect as a refreshing summer scent.

In the bottle, and when I first applied it, all I could smell was patchouli. Bleah. But after a moment, it began to dry, and lo and behold! Now I smell of honeyed musk and balsam. Mmm. Color me surprised! This is another blend that I bought because of the name, expecting to not like it. It's definitely a warm, winter-time scent, too heavy for wearing in the heat of summer, but I like it a lot.

When I first put this on, there was an overwhelming almond-ish note, but that quickly faded to a sharp cherry scent. Once it had dried, it was dark and thick - cherry was the predominant note, but the mahogany (I guess) made it darker and more subtle. Very nice, though simply not for me.

This smelled exactly like my favorite metaphysical bookstore (that closed three years ago.) It brought a wistful smile to my face. Sadly, it's a bit too dark for me - I was looking forward to telling people what perfume I was wearing.

Damn. This was apparently mixed up with an imp of single-note Jasmine. At least, that's what it smelled like on me. Jasmine, jasmine, jasmine. Bleah.

Look at that description - doesn't it sound good? I love hyssop and melissa, I love vanilla musk, honey, and the spicy spices. Unfortunately, on me, this is just...stinky . Smells like men's cologne. Unpleasant, green, herbally men's cologne. Got a helluva throw, though, and it's very long-lasting.

It's mostly white tea on me, very clear with a greenish-smelling overtone that must be the bamboo. It reminds me a lot of Kumiho. Pleasant enough, but not my thing - I bought the imp for my teenager anyway, who loves those types of fragrances.

Fee, Freak Show, 13...these are all very sweet and caramel-y.

This was beautiful! In the imp, it was a slightly-sweet smell. Wet, it was all sweet caramel, but as it dried, a fruity-ness developed underneath the initial sugar smell. Dry, an hour or so later, it was spicy, almost a cinnamon-smell, warm but not sharp. Dry, several hours later, there was a sour-edged smell that I assume is the fig (not unpleasant, though). I have to admit, this isn't what I thought it would smell like, but I really like it.

Inspired by the tragic, ill-fated love of Queen Elizabeth I and the Earl of Leicester. This is our modernization of a 17th-century perfume blend favored by British aristocracy: rosemary, orange flower, grape spirit, five rose variants, lemon peel, and mint. Oh, my god. ::wrinkles nose:: It smelled vile in the imp. It smelled worse on my skin. It did not smell of rosemary (which I love), or orange peel, or mint, or any other note listed above. It smelled acrid, a bit like cleaning fluid. Ugh. I couldn't even let it dry.

In the imp, this was super-sweet. Wet, it smells...well, kind of musty. I can smell the myrrh very strongly, but it's got a sharp, kind of sour undertone that I think is the red wine note. Over it all is the sickly-sweet honeyed smell. Ew. Dry is more of the same, except now it's giving me a headache. Obviously not for me.

Color: green! Resiny, springy pine needles, whether wet or dry. Very pleasant, actually.
-
I have to say, this doesn't remind me of the old woman of the forest. In the imp, and when I first applied, it had a strong 'commercial perfume' scent. Once it dried, it was an unremarkable musky floral. ::shrug:: Eh. Not my thing.

In the imp: Christmas! Wet: Cloves. No berries, no fir trees, no nada. Cloves. Dry: CLOVESCLOVESCLOVESCLOVES!!!!! (and teeeeensy bit of waxy smell.) And strong. Did I mention strong? Well. Not exactly my idea of a personal fragrance. I think I shall swap this one.
