    Swank

This is so very punchy!!! Tart and blood red, definitely, but it assaults me like I killed it's kittens. (I did nothing of the sort.) It lasts and lasts, almost making my eyes water with it's tart sourness. It might do in the middle of a humid summer, but I'm kindof scared of it now...

    Jack

I swore I had already reviewed this. Time to remedy the situation! It starts as disgustingly fake and chemical butter topping, but that dies quickly once it hits my skin. It smooths out to a slightly buttery pumpkin with plenty of spices, but not much peach to speak of. Definitely pumpkin pie... drool worthy, and not overwhelming.

    Dana O'Shee

This is absolutely from start to finish fake vanilla candles on me, maybe with a hint of undercooked oatmeal cookie. This is definitely not for me.

    Hymn to Proserpine

This is such a powerfully, headily sexy scent on me. It's almost overwhelming up close, but has a golden, musky sexiness that wafts up to nose as I move around. It reminds me of the afterglow that I would get from Coco Chanel when I used to wear that. There is some juiciness, but not much - it's all golden and humid and.... SEX to me.

I got this as a frimp and thank goodness I did because I'd written it off because of the neroli. Thank you thank you, lab! Juicy berries, not very dark or over ripe, just perfect. It smooths out to something I'd like to call bubblegummy, but isn't quite... just round, sweet and chewy in the same way. I'm wearing this while drinking organic Himalayan Blackberry wine and feel very lucky.

    Persephone

Now THIS is the true rose I've been looking for (rather than the pretty pretty powdery version that I found in Alice and Hope) along with the bright red tang of pomegranate. It zings and is entirely womanly in a softly powerful way. It will match nicely with a short red dress and red shoes (if I had either... I feel a shopping trip in the works). It's fun; not quite favourite material, but really hits the mark.
  7. Intrigue, of course, I forgot! I'll add that to my next order, and Boomslang. I'll keep my eyes open for Pumpkin Patch #2 (and Tell-Tale Heart, although I've never even seen a glimpse of that one!!!). Thanks, Kraken!
  8. I hope no one minds if I revive this topic. I'm looking for some cocoa/chocolate help. I've decided it's the best note on my skin ever EVAR. Kali is my best friend - so smooth and sexy. And Velvet is deadly on me... in such a good good way. Bliss disappears in all of 3 minutes (but sure is deliciously awesome until then). Some of my other favourites include: Alice, Regan, Queen Mab, Blood Countess, Titania, Morocco, Horreur Sympathique, Lick It Again, Pumpkin Queen. Many florals are horrible on my skin (lily, gardenia, tuberose, honeysuckle, orange flower) and although I ADORE spices I've found the BPAL ones are short-lived on me then turn to pickles. Overly foody scents like Eat Me and Miskatonic University turn cloyingly sweet. Snake Oil was way too heavy incense on my skin, but Boomslang has me intrigued because of the cocoa. I've also seen lots of recommendations for Centzon Totochtin and Tezcatlipoca. Is there anything else new under the sun for me to try? Any specific direction I should be facing? Anything to avoid?? Will Boomslang like me or should I run away from him and all his incense? (oh and I have an imp of Love-Lies-Bleeding on order)

    Thaleia

I was absolutely looking forward to this with all the positive reviews, but I'm starting to wonder if honey hates me. This goes on smelling of fake honey and chemical bananas and it doesn't change much. The banana is stronger the lighter I apply it, and the honey is stronger the heavier I apply it. I get no other kinds of fruit. Maybe I'll try this again in a month.

    Fire Pig

This starts very bright and fruity, mainly lychee (which I love!). The fruit all but vanishes and leaves a soft and buttery floral which is cheerful and sunny. I will probably enjoy this in late spring and summer.

    Faith

This is pretty, although I was honestly mainly looking forward to Hope. It's sweet violets - the sugar is powdered rather than frosted or syrupy. It will be an enjoyable little imp when I'm in the mood, which probably won't be too often.

    Hope

This is very pretty and feminine. It's a bit powdery, but reminds me a lot of Alice and Regan, both of which I love. Yes, powdery, sugary, pretty pink roses. A little while later, it develops a deepness that makes me think of sexy, smooth skin draped in silk - some kind of musk, I assume. An absolute winner!
  13. I definitely agree with Manhattan - it's so classy, and not sharply citrus. Since citrus doesn't last long, the drydown is fabulous too. I feel very sophisticated and like I should be wearing a long, narrow, black leather skirt whenever I have it on. Also, I hated the honeysuckle, but New Orleans was a nice lemon with spice underneath that darn flower. Since you like spice that might be a good idea.

    Tzadikim Nistarim

I smell like musky, slightly sweaty fake banana milk from start to finish. It's rather comforting in a disconcerting sort of way - maybe memories of Amoxilin? I'll wear this when I feel quirky.

    Santa Muerte

When I put this on my eyes went wide and I thought "Summer camp!". Yes, I smell like bug repellant. I'm trying to pick out notes to determine why, but I can't because all I smell is me repelling the bugs.

    O

I'm confused!!! Maybe it's because of a certain time of the month for me but I'm getting wafts of menthol from O. It's sweet and powdery, but very very menthol, right from start to finish (which isn't very long on me... maybe 2-3 hours?). I'll retry this in a week.

    Carnations

Definitely Morocco if you like gourmands. It's like a cinnamon bun on me, but it does have creamy carnation in it. I haven't tried Bathsheba yet (it's in the mail to me right now!!!) but it has carnation and it seems to be a favourite with folks too.

    Hunger

Just received this as a frimp, thanks lab. HOWEVER!!! This was probably my strangest psychological scent experience ever. This was high on my wishlist, because I liked the idea of smelling like creamsicles or chocolate oranges, which some of the reviews say. I couldn't keep this on my wrist for 10 minutes, though - I've tried to wash it off but it's still there... Immediately it smelled like my Papa's house - which hasn't existed since I was 9. I don't know why or how or how in the hell I remember what my Papa's house smelled like since I was only there a handful of times more than 20 years ago. I can't put my finger on anything, but I certainly don't smell oranges or vanilla. It's very floral, though. I'm feeling rather freaked out that a scent can provoke such strong memories. The brain is a mysterious world.

    Kali

In the bottle: Dark powdery cocoa and honey. I’m a little nervous because it smells sickly. Wet: Cocoa and cough syrup. Seriously. Ugh. Drying: The rose is blooming through the cocoa and appears to be grounded by some kind of resin without actually smelling of resin. Dry: Smooth and silky and perfectly blended. I can no longer distinguish any notes – it’s just a fantastically dark and creamy rose scent that feels warm and womanly. This will be a useful confidence scent – maybe for my interview on Monday!

    Eat Me

In the bottle: The same chemical-buttery note in Jack, but I know that will vanish right away. Wet: I was right – the butter vanished. Now it smells exactly like store-bought vanilla icing. EXACTLY! Dry: This remains a strong vanilla buttercream frosting, which would be fine if there was some of the cake involved. I might need a new filling after this one!

    Bon Vivant

In the bottle: Something sparkling, but very floral. Wet: More of the same but stronger. Where are the strawberries? Did I get a mislabeled imp? I have never smelled anything with less strawberry. Dry: Just more of the same. I'm very disappointed! I was hoping for a pretty, light but real strawberry scent. Weird.

    Blood Countess

Another frimp! I'm especially happy to have found a fabulous note in opium. In the bottle: It smells purple and juicy, but with some sweet smokiness to it. Is that opium?? If it is… I LOVE IT!!! Wet: There is something green and sharp on the top covering up everything else, but I don’t think that will last long. It smells like unripened raspberries in the wild. Dry: Ultra sweetness! The berries are waving around glow sticks, and I can detect the lilac which is actually pretty when it’s sweet like this. It’s probably the strongest scent I’ve put on yet. The opium (that must be what it is) is sending out tendrils of smoky sweetness through the berries and it’s making me drool. It’s a little TOO sweet, but still really pretty.

    Clio

This was a frimp! Thank you, lab! In the bottle: Orange and something I recognize but can’t name… Wet: Dirt!!! Wet, musty dirt filled with mouldering leaves. This is interesting. Maybe a bit of coal ashes too. Dry: Mossy dirt – this is very outdoorsy, untouched wilderness. A fuzzy brown green. It’s actually rather enjoyable.

    Malice

In the bottle: Sharply ylang ylang with patchouli. Wet: That ylang ylang is strong! I think I detect the myrrh too. No clove though, and that’s disappointing. Dry: The clove has come out to play and is so dry and spicy, but earthy and sweet at the same time. Everything else is just in background. And although I'm THE biggest clove fan in the universe, I’ll enjoy the imp, but it won’t be a bottle purchase.
  25. evilbee

    Imp

In the bottle: Dirty, juicy peaches! Wet: Ugh, the combination of peach and patchouli is giving me a strong “licorice” impression. I HATE licorice. Dry: The licorice impression is staying. Darnit, I guess this won’t be my peach scent.
