Has anyone run into a GC that's similar to Doc Buzzard? I don't normally go for the woodsy scents so my knowledge is limited, and since there aren't any notes listed, I can't even semi-cheat.

OH NOES! Two discontinued loves in one night! I thought I was safe with this one because of the myrrh, which usually ends up beings nauseatingly sharp-but-sweet on me. But Queen of Clubs is divine -- wet and in the imp it smells like dark red berries and toasted coconut. Dry on my skin, it's berries and earth and vanilla and a little bit of spiciness that smells like tobacco. I can't explain how much I love this scent. It's . . . "divine" covers it, I guess.

In the imp: honey and apples? After reading the notes (and looking up "melilot," which is sweet clover, by the way), I think it might be a combination of the pomegranate, peach, and clover that makes me think of honey and apples. It's very pretty either way. On my skin, La Bella Donna is subtle and well-blended; I can't pick out any one note, but it smells like I imagine a meadow would smell at the end of summer. As time goes by, it gains an aquatic feel. Very nice. I'm going to try this one again later to test the staying power -- I tested it on my hand, which is stupidly dry, and it vanished pretty quickly.

Ah jasmine, my old enemy. This is my second showdown with jasmine tonight; this one is going much better than the last batttle did. The jasmine is this blend, while obvious in the imp, is knocked out by the other two florals when it's dry, making Eos a rather pretty yellow floral on my skin. It reminds me of a perfume I used to wear, but this sort of floral is not really my style these days. It is good to know that there's a jasmine blend I can wear, though.

Sweet, tart, fruity! And some tea underneath. That's just in the imp and wet. Once it's dry on my skin, Aizen-Myoo is like a sugared grapefruit topped with a very VERY soft, sweet floral. While it was wet, I was thinking it wasn't anything special, but I love it dry. It's unique and I think it'll be a great summer scent.

Oooh, what a pretty, light rose. This is one of those blends where all I need to do is point to the description. That's it. There's a note in Moon Rose that keeps it from being straight-up rose, makes it a little powdery. But in a good way. It's a gorgeous night-time rose scent. Definitely a keeper.

I don't know if there's jasmine in this, but it sure smells like it. If it's not jasmine, it might be the cypress or the evergreen, but whatever it is, it doesn't work on me. There's something astringent once it's on my skin that threatens to give me a fierce headache. Usually jasmine is the culprit when I have this reaction. I'm pretty sure that's it. Poor Bayou; you sounded so mysterious and lovely.

Wow, I can taste the ozone in Lightning. It's a great, true representation of the smell in the air during a good spring storm. Kind of a blue almost-floral. It reminds me of a lot of "beachy" body sprays, but less artificial. And it stays good on my skin, which is rare when it comes to that kind of thing. Sadly, I can't see myself wearing this, because I'm not really an ozone/aquatic girl, but it might be good in an oil burner; maybe I'll try that later.

Simple math: patchouli + (red sandalwood + my skin) = stank. Srsly. Lesson learned.

Blood smells like canned cherries in the imp and, appropriately for the name and the smell, is a bright red oil. Once on my skin, it turns into a spicy cherry; I was afraid the clove would take over, but it just adds a spicy layer to the scent. It reminds me of the spices used in apple pie mixed with cherry pie filling. Another great fall scent, and I think it would layer well with a lot of other oils.

In the imp: Is that . . . watermelon? Honeydew? Something fruity. Hmm. On my skin, the fruitiness turns a little rancid, though. I think it's the peach note and the sweet pea, two notes that don't work on me very well. After the initial sourness wears off, the pear and grape notes pick up. There's a sweet floral in there too -- maybe the moonflower? I'm not too great with florals, but there's something there. The overall effect is very innocent and lovely. It's definitely worth waiting through the bad phase.

Oh shit. I'm in love with a discontinued. Oisin is beautiful. It's all herbs and musk in the imp, but on my skin a sweet, creamy base comes out to play with the herbs. It makes me think of Dorian, but greener. After ten minutes or so, it's a little aquatic and masculine, and still unbelievably gorgeous. Gah.

I'm not sure what oleander smells like, but I can pick out the magnolia, the mandarin, and the musk. This is a spicy back-of-your-throat scent and it smells HOT. In the "heat" sense of the word, as well as the smokin' sense. Hell's Belle is one sexy vixen. I'm definitely keeping the imp and I'll retry this one closer to fall to see if I want a big bottle.

In the imp, I smell sweet florals and pear, but there's a flower in here that my skin doesn't like -- maybe heliotrope? -- so Juliet just becomes an overly sweet white musk. It turns into floral plastic after a few minutes. I'm kind of sad about this one; I was looking forward to it. Oh well. The skin hates what the skin hates.

A gentle, soothing blend of cherry blossom, white sandalwood and star anise. Though it's nail polish remover at first, Kyoto blossoms into a pretty black licorice scent on my skin. After a few minutes, there's a note of sandalwood that balances well with it. Usually sandalwood takes over all other notes in any blend I wear, but these two notes work with each other and Kyoto ends up being very pretty. I never do notice any cherry blossom, though. I think my skin eats cherry blossoms. Tasty. eta: Wow, this one fades fast. Less than half an hour later, there's barely any trace left of it. I'm not a slatherer, so I guess I'll be on the prowl for a scent similar to Kyoto that will stay put on my skin.

Peony Moon is soft sweet florals floating in clean blue water. Gorgeous. It's youthful and unobtrusive and a perfect spring floral. It has a little of a rosy undertone, although I don't think there are any roses in here. I was a little afraid of the "woods" as my skin tends to obnoxiously ramp up woodsiness, but these are more sweet woods than anything else, and I find myself wishing I'd gotten a bottle instead of an imp. Very pretty.

Oh my goodness, this is delicious wet. Cinnamon, but not Dentyne cinnamon, more like cinnamon sticks and something a little sweet. Dry, though, the cloves take over and ATTACK and I smell a little too much like a candle. I like Uranus before it dries (snicker), but unfortunately, I can't keep applying it every two minutes to make it stay good.

It's hard for me to review a blend when I don't have 1) a list of notes or 2) lots of reviews to help me figure out what I'm smelling. So I'm sorry if any of this seems way out in left field; my nose is still pretty inexperienced. edenssixthday generously sent me a q-tip soaked in Doc Buzzard when I bought some imps from her, so I got to try it out, and I have to say the only bad thing about that is that I love this scent. In the imp (er, on the q-tip) and wet, Doc is an almost fruity, earthy, woodsy blend that smells masculine but not overly so. Dry it's much the same, but yeah, I can pick out a little of a bright lime-like note. After a while I can see how some people thought "pickles" because there's a bit of a vinegar undertone, but it's not strong enough on me to be bad. I'm usually not into woodsy/incense-y oils, but there's something about this one that I love. I'm so glad I got to sniff it.

In the imp and wet, Saturn is dark and woodsy and has that aftershave kick. Dry on my skin, it's pretty much the same, but it has a pleasant incense base that makes it low-pitched enough that I can wear it. It's not something I'm in love with, but it's okay.

The Giver of Pleasure, Euterpe is the Muse of Music and Lyric Poetry. She is Delight, and her name means "Rejoicing Well". She is credited with inventing the aulos, and is most often depicted playing that double-flute. Her scent is the joy of performing, the euphoria in song, and the passion inspired by all music: carnation and white poppy, honeysuckle, lemon, iris and white musk. What a happy scent, a pale lemony floral with a musky background. Very light and lovely. It starts to smell a little soapy after a while, but not unpleasantly so. I think I'll keep the imp for inspiration, but I'm not sure if I love it enough for a bottle.

Hrm, I'm beginning to suspect that white tea and I should not be allowed within ten feet of each other. Any oil that contains white tea is utterly vile wet. But the drydown is usually worth it, so I'll withhold my judgment for now. This one stays bug-spray-sour even after it's dry, though, so I guess I can begin to form a little teensy grudge. Oh, wait, I didn't wait long enough -- the sour smell is gone, leaving a soft floral with a bit of sweetness in its place. Very nice.

I guess I'm in the minority here, which I'm kind of glad of, as hunting down a bottle of La Fée Verte would be a pricey proposition at this point. On me, the fairy turns into a loud citronella candle. After fifteen minutes or so, the bug spray aftertaste dies down a little and it's a green, honey-drenched vanilla-tinged drink. Good, but there are lots of honey-drenched scents I like better.

For Jenny, with love. Crocus with snowdrop and three lilies. Prague reminds me of the way I used to think Queen Anne's Lace would smell. It's a little too floral for me, and I cannot pick out florals, sadly. I'll put it this way: I think of Prague as a pretty pink and white floral. I won't be getting more of it, but it's delicate and lovely.

Butterscotch ahoy! This is liquid butterscotch candies in the imp and wet -- creamy and buttery and holy crap! Delicious! Dry, some boozy notes come out and the butterscotch gets a little less foody. Maybe a tiny bit spicy. Still buttery, though, but not obnoxiously so. Yeah, I'm getting a bottle of this for fall. eta: About half an hour later, oh no! It turns a little soapy and woody. I think I'll try layering it to see if I can avoid that. I luff it way too much to give up on it this easily.

Kumiho is really not of the good in the imp, almost sour -- in a bad way, not a good sour. And wet, it's the same. But after it dries, it's ginger and white tea and a light veil of lemon. Very light and "exotic." It'd be a great summer scent. I'll have to try out the imp some more before I decide on a bottle, though.
