    Fairy Wine

Wet: Wine! Luscious, red fruity wine. Yum. Dry: The red fruit fades fast on me, leaving a dry, sparking white wine. Later: After about an hour, all the wine and sparkle fade and leave behind dandelion and perhaps a tiny hint of honey. The dandelion is pleasant, but nowhere near as nice as the wet scent. I wish this didn't morph on me, as I adore the wet scent of it. Even the initial drydown is great, although a letdown. But thorougly dry, it's just not worth it. *sigh*

    Miskatonic University

Awesome! Bottle: Irish coffee! (memo to self: do not drink) Wet: coffee, cream, sugar (memo to self: do not lick) Dry: creamy coffee, oak I love this! It's foody without being overly sweet, and the oak lends a sharpish woody scent that deepens and dries it. But I have to not sniff too deeply or else it makes me sneeze. So I just waft my wrist past my face now and then, none of those deeeeep sniffs with nose against skin.

    Season of the Emergence

In bottle: fresh greenery and bread Wet: cucumber, coriander and grains Dry: cucumber, herbs, grains, a tiny tad soapy This is a very unusual combination and hard to describe. Kind of sharp, kind of fresh, kind of dry (grains), a teensy bit sweet and an unfortunate hint of soap. I'd like it better if the cucumber was less prominent on my skin and if the dry grains stood out more, though it's hard to imagine how such a subtle scent could stand out. I'm really loving that grain/seed scent! Altogether quite nice and a definite keeper, but I probably won't actually wear it very often--too many other scents I adore. But lovely and worth having as something entirely different from anything else.

    Blue Moon 2009: Elizabeth's Creation

This starts out complex and lovely, but on me it very quickly dries down to being too floral, slightly soapy and sneeze-inducing. Drat! My skin fouly amps the least hint of floral into yuckiness, but I keep trying to find something that will have just a pleasant hint of floral on me. Probably a lost cause. *sigh*

    Now Winter Nights Enlarge

This is definitely a strange one, both on me and in how very different it smells to/on different people who have commented. First off, NO caramel at all to me. It starts out very foody, yes, but to me it's just vanilla and honey, which is lovely. On drydown, those both fade, and out come incense, powder and something both musty and slightly sharp. This smells to me like the closed-up home of an old, incapacitated lady who uses a lot of powdery perfume to cover up the less pleasant smells that sometimes accompany very old age. Not what I want to smell at all, much less wear. Even though neither she nor her nursing home smell anything at all like this, it reminds me terribly of my grandmother who is fading fast.

    Diable en Boîte

Wet: stale pipe smoke, generic men's cologne and wood--like a wood-panelled den used by a pipesmoker and never aired out Partial drydown: redwood and red musk, with the musk being rather overpowering and irritating Drydown: complex, spicy, warm, woody, just a tiny bit sweet -- Fabulous! When I smelled this wet, I was hugely worried--stale pipe smoke is not my idea of pleasant, although to anyone who has loved a pipesmoker it would probably be hugely nostalgic. Then during early drydown, the red musk turned me off, being too strongly prominent for my taste. But oh the final drydown!! Definitely worth the wait. This is perfection! Exactly what I hoped for when I read the description and other people's comments. I have numerous scents with wood notes, as I'm always trying to find a combination I truly love, and I always enjoy spice scents, too, especially clove and nutmeg. So I wanted this to be a gorgeous mix of woody with spicy, and it is. So happy!

    The Sea Foams Milk

Sadly I can't smell the milk in this at all. It's a lovely, fresh aquatic scent with a light floral overtone that smells on me exactly like laundry detergent. It's really very pretty, but I don't want to walk around smelling like a pile of laundry just out of the dryer, especially as it has a strong throw on me. However, if you can't get enough of fresh laundry or if your childhood heroine was Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, you should rush right over and buy a bottle of this. You'll be in heaven.

    Joulumuori

I bought this expecting foody with a touch of wood smoke, but sadly that's not what it smells like on me. In the bottle and wet on me, it smells a bit like evergreen woods (including a bit like turpentine), a bit earthy, a bit sharp (sort of like citrus but not quite). So I thought I'd end up with something woodsy, which would be okay though not what I expected. On dry down, I got some smoke coming out, still some evergreen, some odd sharp scent I don't recognize, and... soap! I hate when stuff turns soapy on me!! After awhile, I couldn't stand the soap anymore and washed off the oil as best as I could. And only after that did I smell any food! Now it does smell like plums/prunes and rice pudding. Unfortunately I still get a bit of soap, too. So not one I can actually wear. *sigh*

    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat

Love it! A great change of pace from my usual bpal scents, as I tend to go for heavier, warmer scents and deep bakery scents. Nice to have something light and sweet to wear! Melon! But tempered and sharpened by herbs and something citrusy--much rounder and more satisfying than plain melon. I used to wear a chainstore melon scent that was refreshing but got too cloying after awhile--this one is more sophisticated and complex, much more pleasant to wear. I'll be using this a lot in the summertime, I think.

    Hemlock

Hemlock smells like--hemlock! It truly does smell just like walking in a hemlock forest on a warm day and reminds me of a summer spent by Candlewood Lake in a cabin on Hemlock Ridge--very nostalgic. It also smells similar to balsam fir needles, if you've ever smelled those, and I've always loved to use sachets full of fir needles to scent dresser drawers.

    Dragon's Hide

Sorry, but Yuck! To me, dragon's blood is sickeningly sweet, really overpowering icky-sweet. I thought the leather might give it some depth and curb the sweetness, but it doesn't, at least not on me. Excuse me while I go bathe in Brimstone for awhile.

    Pink Snowballs

For some reason, I have trouble picking out the vanilla as such. I smell the light rose and can definitely tell there's other scents in there, too, but not what they are. The best description I can come up with for what this smells like to me is baby powder without the powdery component. In any case, to me this is an infant's or child's scent without a hint of sophistication. Sweet, but not for me. I was expecting the vanilla to round it out and give it a more complex effect, but it doesn't.

    El Dia de los Reyes

BEST CHOCOLATE SCENT EVER! Honestly, I have tried every chocolate scent I've ever encountered, no matter who makes it, including Beth's various blends. Searching and searching for... THIS! To me, the overall effect is one of, "Finally, a true, perfect chocolate smell." But then when i pay close attention, there's the coffee underneath, and there's the cinnamon delicately wafting over the top. Just indescribably wonderful. No words do it justice. OMIGODOMIGODOMIGOD! *sprints off to buy more*

    Pepper

I bought this hoping the spicy notes would tone down and balance out the florals enough for me to wear it. I like the idea of floral perfume, but I can't stand wearing it. This is complex enough that I might wear it if I'm ever in a "gotta have some flowers" mood, as it's not overpoweringly floral and has a nice little kick to it. However, it's still too floral for me, I guess. Maybe I should just give up on the idea of flowers completely. I think this is too sweetly floral/sissy for Pepper. She should be spicier.

    Mother Shub's Toothsome Banketstaaf

In bottle -- Buttery pastry, almond, apricot and something a tiny bit acrid Wet -- Buttery pastry, apricot, cherry, almond and something a tiny bit acrid Dry -- Buttery pastry, apricot and ... soap! Damn! Almost perfect, and then my skin brings up some awful soapy note very strongly. I so wanted this to be perfect. I'm not doing well with the Yule baked-goods this year, which makes me so sad. Two of my all-time favorite bpal scents are Sugar Cookie and Gingerbread Poppet, so I keep hoping for Yule-time greatness again. *goes off to mourn*

    Mother Shub's Pfancy Pfefferneusse

In the bottle -- Reminds me of Gingerbread Poppet but richer and more complex. Sweet, spicy, foody--yum! Wet -- Still smells like sweet spicy cookies but adds a plastic/chemical smell that's unpleasant. Dry -- Not sweet, not foody! Very unpleasant burnt chemical smell. Darn my skin on this one!! I may keep this bottle just for the label though--I adore it!

    Brimstone

Wow! Got this as a frimp and immediately tried it as something different, perhaps unique, that I probably wouldn't have picked myself. And it's awesome! In bottle -- Call the fire department! I didn't know you could bottle smoke. But very appealing, not acrid and dirty. Wet -- Like standing in the smoke of a campfire when you're trying to keep the no-see-ums from biting, very nostalgic. Sharp woodsmoke, a hint of forest around you. However, it makes me sneeze if I sniff too vigorously--black pepper maybe? Drydown -- Clean smoke, hardwoods, forest, slightest hint of sweetness, earthy, warm and comforting. (And no more sneezing.) Unique, lovely scent.

    The Jersey Devil

I got this as a frimp, and I am soooooo glad I did. I would never have bought this myself, as I'm not crazy about pine. In fact, if I'd read the description, I probably wouldn't have even opened the imp! But... In the bottle -- sweet yumminess (must be the cranberry) backed by sharp freshness Wet -- no sweetness but tart, sharp refreshing Drydown -- some sweetness returns, actually detect a tiny bit of tomato leaf (never thought I'd smell that in a perfume) and finally realize there's pine in there! But I love it! The combination of these scents is perfect--the sharp pine, the dusty tomato, the sweetish cranberry--tangy, mellow, refreshing. Definitely greater than the sum of the parts!

    Diabolical Offspring

All baby, no brimstone. Hold the presses! I just got a frimp of Brimstone, layered it with Diabolical Offspring, and voila! Now it has brimstone! Great combination, and now I have an excuse to keep this fantastic label in my active potions cabinet where I can see it every day. Yay!

The Feast For The Greatly Revered Ones

In the bottle -- ohmygod I want to drink it! Richest food scent, too complex for me to pick out individual notes. Literally made my mouth water at first sniff. Wet -- cocoa, corn, spices, something green and something flowery. Dry -- Somehow the spicy turns flowery on me, not a good thing for someone like me who doesn't like flowery. But the corn and cocoa come through to add enough foodiness, warmth and depth to temper the flowery down to where I can live with it. A very lovely scent actually, but I'd prefer less/no floweriness. I was hoping for tamale in mole sauce but apparently it's being served in a garden. This will be great for layering though, which I love to do--will add either something spicier/sharper or something foodier.

    Zombie Apocalypse

I love love love this! Mmmmmm, zombie brainssssssss. First sniff -- Sugar Cookie! Yes, I smell one of my all-time favorite LE's in there, without a doubt. I love to layer Sugar Cookie with just about any other scent I have, but I'm hoarding my last few drops. And now I find a new scent with that Sugar Cookie layer built right in! Yahoooo!! But wait, there's more. Red, fruity jam. And a hint of spices to sharpen it up. Like those jam thumbprint cookies but with an added kick. Yum! Dries and mellows to warm, fruity, not too sweet. *swoon* Gotta quick-like-a-bunny go buy more of this one!

    Obatala

This is the warmest, creamiest, not-too-sweet coconut ever! I'm so glad I went straight to bottle on this, rather than try an imp first. The touch of water scent keeps it fresh and just a wee bit crisp, and the shea butter gives it richness and roundness. Since others mentioned Milk Moon, I just want to say that MM was a huge disappointment to me. On me, there's not much similarity between that and Obatala. I also tried CSP Matin Calin and was very disappointed by it. Before getting this heaven-in-a-bottle, my favorite coconut was CSP Vanille Coco, and I might layer it with Obatala sometimes. But Obabtala is soooo much better, and it doesn't have the vanilla, making it more summery and versatile. Beth is a genius!

    Morocco

I can't adequately describe this enchanting scent, so I'm not even going to try! But I do want to say that I'm delighted to have finally found a somewhat incensey blend that I'm not allergic to. This is now going into my heat diffuser when I meditate! I can't tolerate real incense of any kind, and most perfume blends that contain incense resins swamp me in allergy symptoms. This one not only delights me but doesn't cause sneezing and wheezing fits.

    Yuki-Onna

My imp is nicely aged, heh heh. But I'm so glad to have gotten my hands on it! I love jasmine, but it almost always is overwhelmingly sweet on me, to the point that I can't wear it. And lemon verbena is my favorite single-note scent of all time, but it often doesn't do well in blends. Here in Yuki-onna, the jasmine and verbena blend perfectly! I will have to be very sparing with my lone imp and save it for special occasions.

    Cerberus

This is a wonderfully warm, comforting scent. Sweet but not too sweet, and slightly musky. This actually smells to me like a clean dog! If you've ever had a beloved dog who loved to curl up on the sofa with you, this is what it smells like. We are dogless at the moment, and that makes this scent doubly good.
