Of Herbert West, who was my friend in college and in after life, I can speak only with extreme terror. This terror is not due altogether to the sinister manner of his recent disappearance, but was engendered by the whole nature of his life-work, and first gained its acute form more than seventeen years ago, when we were in the third year of our course at the Miskatonic University Medical School in Arkham. While he was with me, the wonder and diabolism of his experiments fascinated me utterly, and I was his closest companion. Now that he is gone and the spell is broken, the actual fear is greater. Memories and possibilities are ever more hideous than realities. Aftershave, embalming fluid, and splatterings from a panoply of reanimation reagents. Wow. Am I the first? Caveat - this was purchased for my husband, and tried on his skin. Drew's not a prettystink boy. He'll let me scnet him once in a while, especially if I fawn over him, but this made him talk about how good he smelled. He asked for this, because Herbert West is his favorite Lovecraft character, and he just had him written into the second volume of the manga he's working on. It's a very clean, slightly lemony tea scent. It's cool and masculine, but not overbearing and not cologne-y in the slightest. There's nothing chemically about it, either. Just clean manly goodness. I might have to get him a bottle of his own...or maybe they'll make some soap - because that would be lovely.

- Do you have any allergies and preferences to metals where jewelry is concerned? Do you like bronze, do you prefer silver, or is gold more your style? I have no known allergies. I prefer silver as a main color, but mixed media is cool too. Gold and bronze solo tend to look wonky on my skin. - Do you have a christmas tree? And if so, does it have a special theme? We do. It keeps the husbeast happy. It is Halloween themed. It has bats on it and a pumpkin on top. It's a pretty tiny tree, though, and we have stupid jerk cats, so we keep the ornaments sturdy, since they smashed the only glass one last yer (our only explicitly Christmas one too) - I know you only wear black, so how would you feel about scarves/socks/mittens/ect with black and other color stripes? Stripes are awesome. Sorry if I've been one note about that. I've been getting razzed at work about being all mono chromatic. I actually have lots of crazy socks, gloves, mittens, and stuff - since the bulk of my clothes are black, it means just about anything else goes, and man, do I love stripes.... - Maybe I'm just blind and can't see it (as I have been known to be in the past, lol), but do you have a bpal or etsy wishlist? Also the link to your amazon wishlist isn't letting me through for some weird reason. So if you could send me another link, it would be much appreciated!! I think my BPAL wishlist has been lost the forum upgrade last year. I will make you a new one today, though. I has an etsy list here and and amazon here BPAL WISHLIST! Also, how did the day in Las Vegas go? I hope everything went well!! I think I read that your husband is working with the guy who created Invader Zim on a comic book? Because that is so awesome!! Vegas was fun - i think we liked the drive best. The desert is so alien, and there were cool old truck stops and snow. The spouse is working on Eldritch! with one of our friends, who was a character designer from Invader Zim, although we are also friends with several other people from the show. They're pretty great people!

I love the concept of glitter, but get irritated by it - it feels heavy on my nais, and gets tangled in everything, and is hard to get off. I love holo, am cool with custom.franken colors, and am not 3-free specific, although I like it because it seems to last on my nails better. Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now? I am quite good on DVDs, thank you! We are trying to pare back some of that stuff because it's really heavy. Beetlejuice The Animated series might be an exception, though Does anyone like postcards? Is anyone willing to be a Nacho witch for postcards? I love postcards! The weirder the better! I can send postcards - I'm pretty frequently in Hollywood and other LA areas, as well as Disneyland Anyone going to see any good concerts this fall? I think we're going to a Chameleons show in November, and if the Birthday Massacre plays a solo show in the LA/SD area we'll go to that (they're not playing the LA Dir en Grey show, sadly.) Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters? We're currently watching TNG. GET IN MAH BELLEH How do people feel about little pocket shrines, maybe something inspirational/motivational to keep in their purses/backpacks/whatever? I love the originals. Admiral Ackbar is my favorite, and if you can find an Admiral Ackbar action figure for my desk, I may set up some sort of religion in your honor. Are your fairytales dark or Disney? Think spooky haunted mansion. I like creepy and bats and spiders. I don't like glitter. Hallowe'en plans? This year, we're doing a calaveras party, going to Universal one weekend, Disneyland on Halloween, we'll probably decorate. It's a whole month of fun, plus our 5th anniversary. Girly Index: I'm girly in the sense that I don't wear pants, have a collection of makeup I rarely wear, and have complicated hair. However, I'm really a tomboy, and pride myself on being as masculine as possible in 4" heels. Soft/plushy things I like them, I like them lots. Jane Austen? no, thank you. Do you read Tarot cards? If not, would you be interested? I don't read, but I'd love to learn eBooks Yes! I'll be getting an iPad soon, too! Guilty TV pleasure Anything with Gordon Ramsey, or fancy pastry. I will happily wear a costume to a masquerade, but if you're strolling the vending floor, I will shoot you dirty looks. Harry Potter house Dont' know Alan Rickman, David Tennant, the Winchester Boys? Tennant, please! I'll take both Matt Smith and Karen Gillam as a pair, too, thanks! Scented Tarts: Yes Lip Balms? I love them! Nail polish yes please! Body Mods? Lobes, industrial, septum. One faded scarification on my back, Working on a design for a backpiece, too Booze? Yes! Vodka, red wines, rum, absinthe, anything with honey, and dark beers, usually. I won't turn down a lambic, either What is your favorite artist or art style? I love art nouveau, but there's usually something in any art style I love. Yes, although I knit and crochet, too1 What about [mixed or otherwise] DVDs? yes DVDs: Do you prefer widescreen or formatted? widescreen Music: Any preference towards MP3 or CD? either What is your favorite snack food, something you could grab any time? nuts, berries, cheddar and sour cream chips, Cheez-its, apples, cheese! For those who decorate for Halloween, do you prefer cute decorations or creepy ones? mostly creepy, but not cheesey or gory. I like creepy like an abandoned victorian house or old mausoleum, not like a slasher movie.

Not a scent I would've ordered on my own - I tend to like things a little more complex, despite my unabashed love of patchouli. I got this as a frimp with my Bats' Day purchase, and tried it this morning. All the rich earthiness of good patch, overlaid with juicy ripe apricots. At first, it was a battle to the death between the two, and I wasn't sure what would win, but it actually has settled down into a lovely, slightly fruity earthiness. I don't feel depraved, I feel like a harvest goddess...quite lovely.

Snake Oil with cinnamon, cassia, and red ginger. *dances around* I smell like sexy cookies! This is a beautiful cinnamon-y spicy snake oil blend on me. It did bite, though - on my left arm, I have a ginourmous welt. On my right arm and my collar bones, nothing. Weird. Anyhow, this works out to be pretty balanced on the non-welty spot, and a little heavier on the spices over the welt... Worth the pain...

I finally got to break open my box. It was so fun - the packaging had an Alchemist's Local sticker on it, and the coffin itself was filled with Spanish Moss (my kitties were in heaven - boxes and herbage to roll about in!) In the bottle, the oil is all juicy pomegranate. Wet, the oil is dark, succulent fruit - almost candy like, but very quickly it dries down to rich, sexy patchouli, sweetened with fruit. The floral notes are almost non-existent on me (which is not a bad thing - sometimes rose goes way soapy for me). It's earthy and rich, and I really love it. It's reminiscent of Mme. Moriarty, although less sultry and more dignified.
-
Mmm....this is amazing. I love the cocoa-ness of it, and I love Snake Oil. It just smells amazing, and it makes me happy to wear.

D00d - there's jasmine in this? I'm amazed. On me this is sparkly lemon, drying down to a really nice earthy woody smell. My husband has told me that I smell like summer and "comforting, like a Tower Records". *shrugs* I don't get it, but I'm glad for the snuggling and snuffling. I have a feeling that this just turns into a skin scent, because after a little burst of lemon, I don't know that I'm wearing perfume, unless I'm really huffing my wrist. I like it. It's subtle.
-
Mmm...spicy sweet carnations that dry into spicy bubblegum. A very girly, pink, lovely spring scent, and I'm so glad I bought a bottle. Love for me, and my husband loves it, too.
-
There's an element to Mama-Ji that reminds me a bit of Kajurajo. Must be something about floral-tinged spices. Where Khajurajo is all sexy insence, sultry woman scent on me, though, Mama-ji is older, more sophistacated, almost glamourous. It's positively delicious though, and I love catching little wafts throughout the day - sometimes roses, sometimes cardamom, always good...and it's a winner with the husband, too.
-
Warm gingery goodness with a little lemony love in the background. Delicious, delectable, and very comforting. I love it, the husband loves it. Will be keeping/buying more.

This is the 2007 version. In the bottle, it's all Nag Champa incense. Wet, it's sweet, heady florals grounded by a resin. It hass a wonderful exotic, incensy feel to it. On me, the initial burst of florals die down quickly, and become sweet, honeyed champaca. I steered away from this one last year - the florals scared me, but I'm glad I got to try this at a meet and sniff, and I'm really glad that it came back.

Mmm...I like this a lot. I was a little surprised - it was very astringent and medicinal in the bottle, but I also was really sick yesterday, and that probably affected my opinion. I put some on right before I left for work, and gave the Mr. a big hug...it lasted a while, because he thought I smelled so good. Fresh, it was a very spicy orange - it reminded me of a pomander, or some sort of decadent tea cake made with orange rind and spices. As it dried, the citrus fades away, and I'm left with a warm, spicy musk that smells lovely, although there's not a lot of throw right now. Definitely a keeper, and I'm glad I tried it. It's a very feline scent, and I love the little tricolor on the label.
-
I probably shouldn't have worn this to work - it's much heavier than what I usually wear here. Trick#1, though, is amazing. Warm, sultry, and ridiculously expensive smelling. Wet, it's strong leather and patchouli, and then it dries into an extremely warm spicy leather-with-a-hint-of-vanilla scent. It reminds me a bit of what might happen if I mixed the drydown of Red Lantern on me (all spices) with the dry down of Loviatar... The goblins picked so well! This is going to see a lot of wear.
-
Ok...Let me start by saying that today kinda sucks - I overslept, and traffic was awful, and I have a terrible, dizzying sinus headache. For once - I don't really care. I slapped on some Et Lux Fuit this morning (and the cute little rollerball it came in made me squee, too), and it was like walking outside during the golden hour. Something in this smells like Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo and White Light to me - that bubblegummy, sweet floral. It makes me very happy to have that scent wafting around. During the drydown, I just get warm, vanilla-y amber. Lovely! I wish all the florals hadn't frightened me away when it was live.
-
This is amazing - spicy, warm, and red. I can smell the all thespices, sweetened with th dragon's blood. It even evoked the sleepy "Mmmm...you smell good" from the husband. Definitely a keeper.
-
This is amazing. It's dark and strong, and a little medicinal at first, but it mellows into this amazing spicy-sweet earthiness. I am in love, as is the husband - all three times I've worn it he keeps saying how fabulous I smell. When it rubbed off on my kitten, he talked about how good the cat smelled. Now I need to try it on him...and maybe hunt down some more.
-
This starts as a sharp floral scnet, but as it dries, I get more carnation and vanilla. It's very light and sweet, almost springlike. I like this a lot, surprisingly, since it's not one I would have ordered on my own. It's great for work - I feel like I smell very clean and feminine, but not perfumed. It's blending really nicely with the scrub that I used this morning, too, which is a plus.
-
this was way more floral than i was expecting. it was strong, musky calla in the beginning, and then it went kind of soapy floral that made my nose itch. I was all set to swap this off to someone, and then i went into the bedroom and hugged my sleeping husband. he woke up with this beatific smile and told me that i smelled really good. After a while, the itchy flowers went away, and it was a lovely, spicy plum blossom for the rest. The boy likes it, so i'll keep it...and it really grew on me. I think that the other scents will be a little more prominent as it ages.
-
i don't wear jasmine. it hates me, and it sticks in my nose to the exclusion of all other scents. except here. This is a gorgeous, lush, feminine scent. it's completely unlike anything i usually wear, but i really love it. it's blended perfectly, and it smells like that perfect blue hour between sunset and darkness, or right before dawn.
