Vial: Soft, slightly fruity rose. Wet: Distinct pomegranate smell, but with floral sweetness, not as acidic as the actual fruit. Drydown: Gentle but fresh rose - the fruit keeps it from becoming cloying.
-
Vial: Jasmine, which I don't usually like, but not too overwhelming. Sultry with a slight, not unpleasant bitterness. Wet: Quite acrid, for some reason I'm getting bitter-sweet almond. Drydown: Hint of rose, becomes sweeter and less acrid. Reminds me a little of Santa Muerte (not that it has the same components, but the general mood of the scent is similar).
-
Vial: Strong nutmeg, pungent, slightly bitter. Faint hint of something sweet, almost like maple syrup. (I don't know what sassafras smells like, so maybe that's it?) Wet: Very nutmegy Drying: Nutmeg still present but less sharp. Pungent, peppery, musty, smoky spice. This is a really interesting, evocative smell.
-
Vial: Strong, slightly boozy plum, musky floral, a hint of something earthy. Wet: Very similar, more strongly floral. Drying: After a bit the rose comes through - a deep, deep red rose, with dark berries in the background. There's a pungent, sweet but not sickly-sweet smell that might be the opium? Seductive and powerful. I like this more than I expected to, although it gets less interesting as it dries.
-
Vial: crisp, greeny-white, definitely carnation Wet: white, but spicy Drydown: Lovely spicy carnation, slight almost citrusy note that might be the tea. Hint of rose develops after a while, but not too strong. I really like this!
-
Vial: Light, fresh, faintly spicy floral. Wet: fresh and clean, can't distinguish any particular notes. Dry: Developed into a nice floral, light and not at all cloying, like early spring flowers. After a while, it started to smell exactly like the hyacinths in my garden in spring. I have no idea where that came from, but I liked it.
-
Vial: Doesn't smell very strong, maybe a hint of spice. There's also a slight musty smell that reminds me of the old books section in my university library. Wet: Earthy, spicy. This might be the frankincense, but I'm not sure as I've never smelt frankincense before. Can't detect any cinnamon. Dry: Still spicy, but becoming more woody. After a bit, though, it suddenly started smelling like stale lavender. I don't know whether that was the violet reacting weirdly with something or what, but I had to wash it off.
-
Vial: smoky green with an astringent tange, can't make out any particular notes. Wet: Herbal, bitter but not unpleasant Drying: Became less sharp but still herbal, then suddenly overwhelmed with pine. After a few hours, had faded to a soft misty green smell.
-
Vial: Sharp citrus and tea Wet: Very lemony, vaguely reminiscent of floor-cleaner. Drydown: Lovely crisp yellowy-white smell, but fades in 10 minutes, leaving faint but delicious trace.
-
Vial: Strong lemon, hint of neroli. Wet: I can only smell the lemon verbena. Fortunately I love lemon. Drydown: As soon as it started drying it turned into lemon-scented soap.
-
Vial: Sharp floral and greeny-yellow herbs. Wet: Definitely sweet pea, exactly like the ones I used to grow. Less herbal, more musky. Drydown: Soft and sweet without being cloying. I like this a lot better than I usually like florals, but I miss the sharp herbal edge it had in the vial.
-
Vial: Exactly like an alcoholic mint chocolate. Wet: Minty sugar with the alcohol stopping it from being too sweet and cloying. Drydown: I smell like a boozy After Eight chocolate mint (do you have those in the US?) Mmm. Weird, but tasty.
-
Vial: Acrid coffee, hints of rose and fig. Wet: Aaagh, bad coffee Drying: Coffee fades into heavy rose and jasmine. Smells rather stale. Vanilla develops as it dries. Meh. Not for me - I really don't like strong florals.
-
Vial: Nice crisp fruity/green smell. Wet: Floral with a hint of fruit - blackberry? Later: Ew. It suddenly went sickly sweet on me. Shame, it started so well.
