Oops, sorry for the double post..

Thank you very much Medeine and Wwindy! Good to know that sometimes errors can occur even in the lab. It is still a mystery but I love that oil no matter what it is.

Honestly, it may be impossible to know for sure what you have. The problem with decants, especially as they age, is that the oil integrity may have been compromised - the person who decanted it may have mislabeled it, or they may have decanted Danube with hands covered with Dracul, or they may have reused a vial that wasn't properly cleaned, or the oil may have gotten cross contaminated by a previous owner testing it in the same place as a stronger oil. If you know who you got it from, you could always check with them, especially if it was part of what you were swapping/purchasing as opposed to a freebie. Thank you for replying! The thing is, I loooved that mystery oil. That's why I'm trying to find out what is it. This was a decant I got from a forum member, who got it from another member I will contact the original owner concerning the "Danube".

Naphthylamine started following What Scent Is This?

Hi! I think this is the right place to post my frustration. I've got a decant labeled "Danube" but it smells nothing like the description. I've also checked the reviews and read pages of thoughts over Danube, but none was similar to what I was getting. I'm thinking of a mislabeling. Here is what I smell: It is like tobacco.. and leather or black musk I guess. I may be wrong, since I'm a newbie to identifying single notes succesfully. But I can easily say that it smells something in between Dracul and Hellfire (and a bit of Dee). And it is definitely a masculine scent. Nothing like "floral, watery or sweet" as described in Danube review thread. Can somebody help me out? TIA!

I closed one end of a capillary tube, and made a loop with the other end; so that it looks like a small handle. Each scent would require it's own capillary, though.

I totally agree with the Johnson&Johnson comment above. I had great expectations from this one, but it was a huge disappointment. It started out really incensy and soapy on my skin while wet. As it dried out, the incensy smell faded and left a sour floral smell. Which is excatly like foul smelling baby cologne or half-dried baby wipes.

A scent aflame with rage, swirling in the red haze of hatred: dragon's blood spiked with black pepper, clove, and cinnamon. This was the first BPAL product I got! In the bottle: All I can smell is cinnamon candy. Wet: Still cinnamon candy, and I can smell the pepper a bit. But the whole thing is so intense that I was worried to make people around me uncomfortable when I first wore it at work. Dry: The clove and something more powdery and sweet starts to come out (maybe the dragon's blood, I don't know how it smells on its own), while the cinnamon fades considerably. I love the scent on this phase. Even I loved the scent overall (especially when dry), it completely fades away in 3 or 4 hours. Maybe it's just my skin...
