I imagine at some point over the years I've tried this, but with perimenopause skin chemistry changes, I'm trying everything again. This is a lovely sandalwood blend that reminds me of And Though They are with You... I definitely prefer the addition of the vanilla in the latter, so I think I'll pass this one on to my husband. Thank you to the Labbies for the frimp!

This is definitely a balsam-y amber. Reminiscent of Yuletide at Heathrow and Es Lacht der Mai.

This is a lovely white tea with some warmth and weight behind it.

This quickly dries down to a sweet white musk. It's sweeter with a little more of a fruit note than the Lime & White Musk duet, but not much. I was really hoping the cherry would stick around longer.

On me this is a sweet floral perfum-y scent. I'm thinking the plum? Regardless, not the experience I was looking for.

In the imp, this is a blast of wet chocolate. No dry cacao here! Chocolate is what continues to throw with this scent; as I was driving it was just wafting up. Closer in I got an initial hit of leather, and then it dried down to an oakmoss and...something. I wasn't able to pick the leather out, and the oud was behaving nicely. It wore off more quickly than you would expect for the notes. Definitely a keeper!

I get a sweeter Snow White. I can't pick out blackcurrant, and it's not overwhelmingly rose on me. Very pretty!

Black Cherry, Oakmoss, Red Amber, and Wild Tobacco
white_jenna63 replied to Seajewel's topic in Lupercalia
Straight from the mailbox, no time for resting! On first sniff, there's definitely a cherry note to this. Slightly medicinal, but not overwhelming. Just a little dab on the back of each wrist, and there's definitely some lasting power, but not too much throw. The initial fruity sweetness quickly gives way to a substantial, but not heavy, gender neutral scent. I can pick out the oakmoss, but the amber and tobacco blend nicely. It's a drier tobacco, not a chewy one. It dries down to a sweet oakmoss with weight behind it, without being overwhelming. Not a cherry forward scent on me, but definitely a keeper!- 3 replies

Vanilla-laced leather with 3-year aged patchouli and a warm sack ohazelnuts. ...I've never started a topic before, I hope this is correct? Goblin Sack was available as a prototype at C2E2. It's to be released with the goblin statues. It's a wonderfully foody blend. When I asked Beth what the notes were, she said patchouli, vanilla, and hazelnuts. Because you gotta have nuts in your sack. http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/icon_biggrin.gif

Neutral Rogue: Neutral overwhelms at first, but now Rogue is definitely bringing a sweetness and weight to it, similar to Evil. Another keeper!
-
The Lab sent me a frimp of Rogue (thanks, Lab!), so here are my first two combos: Chaotic Rogue: There's a powder note coming in from somewhere? Maybe the fresh Chaotic (I missed my aged). Meh. Evil Rogue: Oooh, okay, this is nice. The Evil is kinda overpowering it but the Rogue is bringing a depth and weight that's moving it beyond 'perfume'. Definitely a keeper. I've found with the combos that when something works, it's obvious, as opposed to 'yeah, I can tell that I layered those scents'.

Wet, this is some bath product, shampoo or body wash, that I can't quite place. Dry it's a sweet DL, slightly foody, although I wouldn't be able to label it as 'cinnamon buns'. I never got any aggressive cinnamon.

Whew, this has some throw to it! Strong almond from the start. Bourbon comes out while wet, but it's not overly boozy. Dry, I can make out the DL but it's pretty far buried. Not for me.

Oh, am I first? Okay... I couldn't tell you what 'absinthe' smells like. Never smelled it in person. I remember a bright green imp from years ago, but it wasn't for me, and I haven't gotten a blend with one since. I love DL and this is DL with a green herbal note (surprise) that dries down to a lovely DL unisex cologne. So glad I was able to try this!

Dead Leaves, Blackcurrant, and Golden Champa
white_jenna63 replied to zankoku_zen's topic in Halloweenie
Huh, I wonder if I got an 'off' sample as well. I love DL and BC but it was very hard to pick out any of the notes once dry. They blended into a pleasant dry scent that was nice but not really outstanding. Certainly not a deep purple expensive perfume that sounds just like what I was hoping for.- 6 replies

This is absolutely gorgeous. Very herbal at the start and almost 14 hours later is still a lovely dry down of amber and musk.

CCLXIII (263) Previously reviewed on page 4, 12 years ago. A friend gave me half a decant, and here we are. It's a soft lemon that has nothing to do with cleansers. Maybe it is lemon grass? I can see something like amber in here to soften it up and almost make it a little powdery. Minimal throw.
-
Without looking at the notes, I got grape soda from the imp. Like the previous reviews mentioned, this is beautiful lush purple red smut.
-
This is *perfume*. Far too sophisticated for the jeans and t-shirt I tried it with. It's not a Red Musk scent and it is gorgeous. Definitely good throw.
-
Very similar to one of the past Peaches (black musk and North African spice), but with apricot instead.
-
I couldn't remember the notes of this one, and the first whiff...I thought something strong like jasmine? It *did* dry down to something nice and soft, but not worth it to get there. Shame.
-
Pretty much what it says on the label.
-
Definitely white screechy musk on first application, with white flowers. On final drydrown, there is a sweet note.
