I ADORE Snake Oil. It was one of my first 5mls and I am so happy I purchased it purely based on reputation alone. (Plus, it IS Beth's favorite--how can one go wrong?) I get a medley of fragrances from Snake Oil. And every damn one of them is DIVINE. Thankfully, it doesn't go "play-doh" on me. I do smell vanilla, but it's not overwhelming thank God since I am NOT a foodie as far as my perfumes. Definitely spices here and just a touch of patchouli. Beth has confirmed that patchouli is indeed one of her special blends for SO and it's not AT ALL overwhelming. It's just right. Once it's been on for at least 30 minutes, I start to get a whiff of leather? Or perhaps that's tobacco? I swear it smells just like a worn leather couch with the most divine vanilla candles lit in a library and some wonderful Indian incense burning. I AM IN LOVE! I have an imp that I aged and it's all gooey and smells even more divine than my bottle. TRULY HEAVEN Thank you, Beth. Now, I want Snake Oil soap, bath oil, hair gloss..basically everything I can get my claws on. I am doomed. :::sigh:::

I so agree! it was way better than it sounds re: the notes! Thymes of London Fig Leaf and Cassis was my FAVORITE collection from them and holds sentimental value as DH bought it for me for our 2 year anniversary many, many moons ago. I miss it more than I can express. I was wondering if anyone had any luck findig a scent that was similar? Anything close? I loved this... I'm not expecting a miracle here, but as another fan of ToL mentioned, this lovely scent is disc. and it was gorgeous!! Mimieux

One of the very first imps a friend passed on to me, I instantly fell in love with Aperotos Eros. I am a big fan of the darker, heavier scents and love to smell like a dirty hippy, but this is elegant and while it has those wonderful darker, rich notes I adore with the Indian musk and myrrh, the fir and bergamot seem to really give it something special that I've never smelled in any of the other "darker juices" as I like to call them in the likes of Vixen, Satyr and Snake Oil. (all of which I love!) AE has this clean, fresh quality to it that I love while still smelling intense, expensive and lush at the same time. I think that's the fir. I know others said Pinesol, but I don't smell Pinesol at all, however I know everyone's chemistry is sooo different. This one is definitely a hit for both me and my hubby. He loves it on me and wears it, too! In fact, we had a very amorous evening while wearing this fragrance and I have to say, it was QUITE an aphrodisiac for both of us. Seriously!! I now have two 5ml bottles. One is new and one is aged. I think I may go put some on...It *is* Friday night after all and it worked so well the other night. ETA: Both my SO and I have received numerous compliments on Aperotos Eros since I wrote this review. He commutes to work with a carpool full of other guys and they all asked him what cologne he was wearing since it smelled so amazing. He told them all about BPAL. I wore it to my dermatologist's office. While waiting I the waiting room, the derms hubby aproached me and said "I really like your perfume." We started chatting and he gave me a free facial treatment that costs $149!!. I swear it was the BPAL. Nothing like this ever happens to me! So, thank you Beth for creating such amazing blends that bring us luck, compliments and sooo much more. You are a real life super hero! I lurve Dark Chocolate and Cherry. I really, really do. It smells exactly like it says, like a box full of Godiva Dark chocolate covered cherries. And it lasts. Oh my lord, does it last. I love to layer this one with my other scents and my favorite combo is over Aperotos Eros. I love what they do for one another. It's absolutely divine. I literally can't stop smelling myself when I combine the two! Today, I layered this over Snake Oil and equally love it so. This adds a bit of sexy sweetness and a little extra oomph to whatever your wearing. (as long as you enjoy the soft chocolatey, smooth cherry notes with a touch of milkiness) I really didn't think I'd like it as I'm NOT a fan of foody fragrances, but there is something so smooth and sexy about this one; It is just SO right. It has a bit of a darker side to it that I adore. And that gives it just enough decadence for my taste. So glad I have a 5ml.

… The scent is one of unadulterated spiritual purity, with a taste of the world's eternal pathos, and the joy of suffering with grace: frankincense, olive, spikenard, hyssop and galangal. Tzadkim Nistarim is my go to scent when I need to calm down or am feeling panicky. (and panic attacks are the bane of my existence) It has this wonderful calming effect that I can't quite explain, as if it almost belongs in the TAL catalog. Seriously. Not to mention the incredibly gorgeous scent that wafts the second you anoint yourself. For me, wearing TN is a right a passage. Like others, I was drawn to it by the description of the Just Men. Beth's description swept me right in and then, once I had an imp in my possession and smelled the scent itself, not to be overly dramatic, but I really felt a moment of spiritual clarity. The scent is so pure, but I too, get this ancient vibe. As if I could be walking the streets of the Holy Land 2000 years ago wearing this. It is the perfect scent to use while praying or meditating. I also apply it before bedtime and sleep like a baby. While I'm normally a fan of the darker juices like Aperotos Eros, Vixen, Satyr, Snake Oil, etc., this one just pleases me in such a way and calms me to the core, it's in my top 3 favorite Bpal. Now that's saying a great deal. Regarding lasting power, I put it on after bathing at bedtime (I apply an unscented body lotion from Aveeno) and I can still smell it the next morning. I just love it so much. I really, really, do. I had to purchase a bottle and see many more 5ml's in my future.
