Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
Numanoid replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
Hello and welcome!!! I had Sprinklecake once and I loved it, but it faded real fast on me....BUT you might like Detestable Putrescence....described as "melty vanilla ice cream" and to me, it was more a vanilla cake like scent. You can find it under "Gris Grimly" section on the website! It's a GC scent!!! Good luck! -
First off...cute label!! Sniff from bottle: Yep...buttery raw pumpkin with a hint of spices. On Skin: Uh oh...buttery note leaves and I have a raw pumpkin left, and not in a good way. It goes real funky on me. A little plastic-y and...florally?? What the?? Drydown: Still not good...no spices, no foodie-ness for me, just....odd. Some note in here doesn't like me. Hours later: It gets nice...there are the spices, but can't wait that long to enjoy it...off to the swap pile.

Yep....what everyone said above!! If I am correct, Yules usually come live in November. Also, you can sign up at the BPAL website for the newsletter, that way you will get a mail when LE's are released, just so you don't forget and miss out on some lovelies!!!

Ginger scents & the different types of ginger notes
Numanoid replied to Lorna Brigid's topic in Recommendations
What Dee said!!!! I was able to get a couple of those Choco Espresso Gingerbread imps a while ago and it was SOOO AMAZING! Was asking the Lab if they would make that in bottle form!! BUT the Milk Choco, Cardamom, Rum, & Ginger Truffle might be a bit easier to find...I have a half bottle of that and LOVE that one as well!!! Even though it is Milk Choco, it is very lovely....might be just what you are looking for! -
I love leather scents, but could never find one that ended up smelling a bit too masculine for my tastes, but Western Diamondback is AHHMAZING!! BUT it is VERY hard to find right now...fingers crossed that it will come back with the Carnival, but in my opinion, I also LOVE Snake Oil...fresh or aged, and I actually don't get any SO from WD. It is a soft, suede like scent that is just strong enough to have a good throw but not overpowering and end up smelling like a dude!! As a genderqueer person, smelling like dude is not an issue for me... I have a lot of scents in the Carnival that I would love to see back, so if it makes a reappearance, I'll get a decant of it. Ok.....then dude it up!!! But def try WD if it comes back...I think you will love it!!! I know I will be getting me some if it does!!

The only scent I have with neroli in it is last years BPTP Orange Pumpkin Floss (Pumpkin candyfloss with neroli, pink grapefruit, blood orange, and petitgrain.) OH MY I am very much in love with this. I try not to use it too much in fear I won't find it anymore, but it is a lovely, cozy kind of orange scent....been wearing it lately while Weenie stalking!!
-
Thanks for letting us know your thoughts on the couple bottles you tried!! I blindly ordered Snakes in the PP and OOKY, so glad to know there is no veggy pumpkin scent...LOVE the more pumpkin-y pie-y spicy-y kind!! CAN'T WAIT for my order!!
-
Well, in just a few days, the Weenies (Halloween) limited edition scents will go live at the BPAL website....there seems to always be some lovely, foody, autumn, pumpkin-y scents!!
-
Yep....can't really add more than what is above!! Very milk chocolate!! Smooth...like a nice cool glass of chocolate milk!! Pure and simple!! I think this is GREAT alone or also would be a great layering note! This is a must for you foodie lovers!!!!
-
Ooh....this is a nice one!! Wet in decant: A sort of nice spicy/floraly scent. Not in a bad way...I am not a floral fan, but this smells good!! On: No floral at all (whew) but is a dusty kind of spiciness....not overbearing in any way. Like what a sweet, old ladies purse might smell like! Drydown: Gets a little dustier....cobwebbier....with still a barely there bit of sweet spice. Not a lot of throw, on me....I don't know what the original smells like, but this is nice. Not sure if it's for me, but for you if you like dusty/spice type scents!

Buttermilk pancakes with boysenberry syrup and goat butter! Been wanting to try this, so found a partial bottle to try.... In the bottle: first sniff, I get a hint of lovely maple and butter...but it is in no way overpowering! Wet: Whoa!! Crazy how that smells JUST like a grain type, fresh pancake. But no maple or butter smell ON me. Drydown: Still that grainy pancake, but plain...nothing on it. Was hoping for a bit more sweeter scent. About 15 minutes later, the grainy scent fades and there is a tiny hint of maple and butter. It turns out real nice, but hard to wait that long for the foodie-ness of it to emerge. Not a lot of throw, but it is a fun scent!!

I give a second to Elegba!!!! That one is real nice...tropical, and not overly foodie!!
-
Maybe try any of the "Lick It" blends from past Yule LE's? They start out WAY minty, but fade real fast to a soft, warm mint on me. Also, Snow White had a soft mint on me as well... LOVE Snow White! Good luck!!

The smell of smashed gourds and seventeen-thousand football-frenzied ghouls tanked up on Kadathian Spiced Black Tar Cacao Lager. Just got this in a swap...been wanting to try this!! Anything that mentions chocolate and spice, well, right up my alley!! Wet in the bottle : First sniff...a spicy chocolate! Makes me think of a delicious cup of Mexican hot chocolate! On Skin: WHOA nelly...yep, get instant cinnamon! Just like someone mentioned above, it is a Red Hot candy cinnamon. Luckily that fades quickly and mellows to a not-so-nose burning cinnamon!! Drydown: Mostly just cinnamon and spice. The lovely chocolate at first sniff seems to have lost the fight. It's there a little bit, but it is like it is on it's last breath! Not sure if this is for me, but might try again come fall when the weather isn't 100 degrees! Funny how that can make a difference!

Here we go... Wet in bottle : something sweet and a dash of "laciness" to it...very pretty. Might be a floral note making the lace scent. On Skin : Still sweet. I don't get any "bubbly" with this as stated above. I get some creaminess with it. Really does make me think of a pretty lace shawl, but in a good way...not in an old lady way. Drydown: Sweetness fades a bit and so does the light floral aspect of it...but in a good way, for those of you nervous about overly sweet or overly flowery scents. Very warm scent with a decent throw.
-
Wet in decant: Like above, gritty, a bit dirty On Skin : UGH!!! Not good... for some reason, on me, it smells like some kind of leather that got peed on! Drydown : No change...just dried up to the same dirty pee smell. Very disappointed, but hey, I have a decant to pass on!

Oh my...oh me, oh my!!! I just got this today...purchased from a lovely forumite...and I am in foodie lovers HEAVEN!!! Wet: In the bottle, sniffing...I get the pumpkin, coffee, and vanilla! On Skin: I smell everything!! It is a gorgeous and yummy pumpkin, spicy, chocolate dream. Just want to start decorating for Halloween and cozy up to a fireplace...even though it is only June!! Drydown: Stays the same....I get the hint of hazelnut, but mostly spicy pumpkin goodness. This is one of those bottles that you have high hopes for, and when you get it, put it on, it BLOWS those expectations out of the water, because it is THAT much better!!!

Got a decant of this... Sniff: Yummy coffee and chocolate...perfect! Not too sweet or overpowering as some coffee notes can be, to me at least! On: Coffee and choco fade in the background and the rose comes out...that too isn't strong, but being that I am not a rose fan (and was nervous about that note) it hangs around for a bit! Drydown: The rose fades, which is good, but there is still a hint of it, so rose haters, don't worry! The mellow coffee and choco note comes back and they blend wonderfully!!! I love this!!

Left His Nurse While In a Crowd
Numanoid replied to pinkstardust420's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
So, I won a bottle in a recent Ebay auction...got it today!! Wet: Smells like creamy chocolate!! On Skin: Chocolate fades to a perfect amount. The creamy berry mixes with it perfectly. I was worried about the tea, berry, and cream notes. Not a tea fan and most berries (strawberry, cherry, blackberry) goes plastic or medicinal on me. If something it too creamy, it is just bad!! Drydown: A WINNER!!! This is perfect!! If you are a foody lover like me and have fears of the same notes as listed above, don't fret!! I don't get any tea, but I can smell the berry, chocolate, cream and cakes in a perfect harmonic blend!!! It's a keeper!!!! -
Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Just to add to the convo and TMI bit, did you recently have a baby? After my son was born, all the lovely scented things I loved (perfume, candles, lotions, shampoos, etc etc) made me NAUSEAUS!! That was almost 6 years ago, but my scent preferences have changed and I can love things like that again, but what I love now I know I would have hated before having him. Also, let some of those imps age. Snake Oil is yummy new, but after a couple months, OH BOY!!! -
So... I got a teeny tester in a recent swap!! So exciting to test the "Holy Grail" of BPAL!! Sniff from decant: I get sweet and sexy all at once. I am a foody fan and of course a Snake Oil lover, so this is a plus so far! On Skin: Sweetness hangs a bit, but not overly to me. The muskiness of it starts to come out. I think this is exactly what the front walkway of a brothel would smell like! Drydown: It softens up a bit, but at the same time has a decent throw. I am glad I don't love this since it is so VERY hard to get (would be easier to climb Mt. Everest!) But to me, if you like O, Smut, and/or Womb Fury, this would be for you. Smells like a mix of all three, but not too strong on me as those 3 can be!!
-
Well, I don't know about whipped cream scents, but I LOOOOOOOVE The Gorobble..... "A scent redolent of the crusty exterior of burnt marshmallows." and it smells EXACTLY like burnt campfire marshmallows!!!!! Very YUMMY!!
-
JUST got my bottle from my awesome fairy!!! Here goes: First sniff: Yep, sugary ginger and a hint of....wax? Kind of incense-y. On Skin: VERY nice ginger scent...sweet but not sugary. Drydown: I start to smell the vanilla/cardamom. I don't get any boozy note, which is good, since most booze notes don't work for me. Think this is a keeper for me. Will have to live with it for a bit.

Sniff from decant: Very fruity and lovely, but not too fruity, just right!! On Skin: OOH this is lovely!! I smell all the ingredients...orange, raspberry, lime....this so far is going to be a perfect summery scent for those who are not too fond of over foody and sweet scents. Dry down: low throw, but stays true. Nice and light for a hot summer day. Makes me want to break into a box of popsicles and sit out in the sun!!!!
