    Love

Sniff from decant: Sweet, pale, lovely marshmallow and strawberry. The strawberry is very nice, not overpowering like some fruit scents are for me. On Skin: foodies fade instantly and left with a creamy rose scent. Must be the vanilla playing with the rose. Dry down: Stays true, but think it is not for me. Seems most florals got "granny" on me. Was hoping this would be different, but that is ok...

    Traveling with BPAL

Not sure I can think of any scents that remind me of Disney World, since the one time I went was in Sept/Oct and it was blistering hot!! So I guess anything that smells like hot cement and cotton candy!! As for Christmas, for me, Orange Pumpkin Floss is so holidays for me!! I know it was released as a weenie (and I think it is still available on the Trading Post) but I so love it...just makes me want to decorate the house and build a fire!!!

    Rapunzel in Ballpoint

OOh... this is nice! In Bottle: Sweet, crisp green apple! Not too strong, not too weak On Skin: Have to agree with the above...it is like a softer version of Snow, Glass, and Apples and it is holding hands with Poisoned Apple! S,G,& A on me was too strong, and P.A. went weird on me, but so far, this one is a nice true apple-y musk. Dry Down: Fades a little, but that is ok. I think this is a very nice summery scent. Especially for those who don't want anything too fruity, pale, or flowery, but has a little kick to it!

Notes That Don't Work, Blends That Do

I second Elegba...coconut is ALWAYS nasty on me, but this one works well. I also can't seem to find a nice "boozy" note that works, so try Elegba. Also, it might be just me, but I have tried many different years of Snow White and for me, the 2010 one wasn't good, even though the other ones I have tried, (2007,2011,2012) were delicious. So maybe if you can get your hands on different years, maybe??

Cake, cookies, donuts, baked goods, even Cinnabon

Yes, sadly this did not come out as a bottle...it was a freebie given out at a Will Call a long time ago, but maybe you can collect a bunch and have a bottle's worth! Good luck!!

    Pumpkin Cheesecake

Just got a deacnt off of Ebay...it is very yummy!! However, to me, it smells JUST like Pumpkin Latte. Starts out pumpkin-y and creamy then as it dries, I get the spices coming out. Also says it's from 2007, so maybe because of the age? A keeper!!!

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

For me personally, I have had variances (sp?) in of course Snake Oil, but that was due to age, and bottles of Boomslang and Pumpkin Latte....also not sure if it was due to age, but so far the differences were not THAT extreme, they all still smelled great, in the bottle and on! Could there have been a mislabled bottle maybe? I read on here that that happened a while ago with Snake Charmer & House of Mirrors. Sorry that happened to you though!
  8. Sniff in decant: Hmmm...not much chocolate either for me. Must be the annatto seed I get...very light spice, but mostly something like you would smell from a field..not in a bad way. On Skin: I get a hint of the pepper emerging, but still has that underlying "seed" smell. Still no chocolate! Dry down: Hmm..it's nice, but kind of disappointed. No cinnamon, vanilla, or chocolate to me. But it's ok...saves my wallet.
  9. Oooh.. Sniff in decant: chocolate and a hint of lemon! Is hard to mix...it does separate. On skin: Chocolate seems to fade and I get the lemon right away. Dry down: Still get just lemon and not much else. Can't pick out any other notes, but I think that they are keeping the lemon from not being too overpowering. After a few minutes, I can get a hint of maybe the sweet flag. (?) I get a faint hint of something meadow-ish I think this would make a nice spring/summer scent... I was hoping for more of a chocolate in this, but not on me.

    Trick or Treat Soap

Just opened my bar today...couldn't wait any longer to use up the one I have currently!! So, might update this later, but it is a dark brown color with little orange flecks in it. Not sure it smells like candy corn to me, but it does kind of smell like chocolate play-doh. Will of course keep using it, but for now, yeah...no candy corn. Update: Been a couple days, and yep...just smells like choco play-doh. Sadly can't go on using!

    Blackberry Jam & Scones

I have been wanting to try this, and finally...I get to! I always seem to have trouble with BPAL's berry notes, like strawberry, cherry, blueberry...they seem to go plastic on me, so although excited to try this, a bit worried. In Bottle: Yummy blackberry jam...I can see where someone might get a booziness from this, but mostly very sweet. On Skin: So glad the berry stays true...no plastic yet! Few Minutes in: Sweet berry scent softens, but overjoyed!!! No plastic on me. I don't get floral either and I tend to amp ANY floral! Dry Down: The buttery scone peeks through, but stays very balanced! I can smell the berry and pastry...this softens nicely, so you non-foody lovers have nothing to fear. Stays sweet but I think it can be worn by foodies (me!) and non alike! Very nice scent!

    Lick It Softly

Wet in bottle: Mint...it's nice...not too strong, not too soft. On Skin: Mint warms up and becomes a bit more stronger, but not the "sinus clearing" strong. Few minutes in: The vanilla comes out and balances it out nicely...mint tones down, but hasn't disappeared. Overall, I think this is a nice version of the Lick It series. I think, in my opinion, that the vanilla keeps it around where as the other Lick It's I have tried have faded quickly. This stays, but not a lot of throw, which I think is good...I think if this were any stronger, it would be cloying...not sure if I love this enough.

    Elf v4

Pretty much what was said above! I got a small frimp of this and yes...on, it is a nice beautiful vanilla with a hint of some sort of floral to it. I am so NOT any kind of floral fan because most of the foral notes are just too stong on me, but this is very nice. It is a mature scent, but not overpowering. Best way to describe it. Stays very consistent from application to hours later...and it lasts!! I have yet to smell Antique Lace, so I can't compare to that one.

    Oakmoss

Well, not sure how you feel about Irish Moss, but that is a note in the Economic Recovery imp that BPAL gave out for Black Friday sales.

    Economic Recovery

Was frimped this..so here goes: Wet in vial: Hmmm...a slightly spicy No. 2 pencil. On Skin: Same kind of herb-y pencil smell. Drydown: Pencil smell fades, but still there. Softens a bit and get a little more sweetness..I don't get patchouli at all out of this, which is kind of good, since I really HATE that note. Very faint and not much throw on me.

    Mason & Jenkin's Port Jelly

2012 version Wet in vial: Yum!! Fruity, and yes, a bit boozy...but toward the wine side, not hard alcohol boozy. On Skin: warms up to a nice cozy, grape and cranberry-ish wine scent. I am not into wine or boozy scents, but this one, so far, is nice. Drydown: Stays the same...fades a bit, but stays true. Doesn't morph on me too much. Makes me think of sitting at a romantic candle light dinner with wine.

    Nabby Gardner's Holiday Globules

Wet in vial: Sweet candy-like smell...not overpowering. On Skin: Still sweet, but something almost floral pops out. I seem to be sensitive to any tiny amount of florals, and they scream from me, so on me, it is almost like what a fake flower would smell like, but not plastic ones, if that makes sense. Drydown: Stays pretty much the same...ends up a sweet floral on me...very girly in my opinion, but not too overbearing, just not for me.

    Hell's Acres Yule Tree Farm

Wet in vial: Nice pine scent...a bit strong, but nice. On Skin: WHOA NELLY!! The SECOND I put this on, it went super hyper-piney on me. Eyes watered, sinuses cleared! Only lasted a few seconds, but ouch! Drydown: Peppermint comes out, but mixed with the pine, on me, smells like a dollar store cleaner! I had high hopes for this because I would love to find a nice tree/pine/Christmas scent, but they all go Pine Sol on me! This was a no-go for me!

    Sleepytime BPAL

Well, I found a good trick to help me get to sleep, but it doesn't require BPAL! So, what you do is when you are lying down, all comfortable, start counting backwards from 300....BUT do it in 3's. So 300, 297,294,291, etc etc....it really works. It helps to clear your mind and relax it. I am always out by the time I hit the 250's!!! Hope that helps!

    Requesting Recommendations for Newbie

Hello and welcome!! Now, I am not as versed as some of the other great forumites here, BUT try not to totally rule out notes that don't work for you. Only because there are sometimes a possible death note in a blend that you might think, "UGH, no way", but then when you actually try it on, it can be awesome!! I ALWAYS recommend Snake Oil...that's just me, but look at the review pages as well, they are real helpful in letting you know how a scent is on someone...even though the same scent can be different on one person than the other. Good luck and welcome to the insanity!!

    Mother Shub's Gingerbread Temples

Odd... I get no real bakery gingerbread out of this. It is almost a heavy floral with a sprinkle of some raw ginger something in there. Maybe I go a mislabeled bottle? Maybe I need to let it sit, since I JUST got it in the mail. But this is no bakery scent to me...and it hangs around kind of thick!!!!

What do bottles and labels look like?

I am getting some Yules today that a wonderful friend picked up for me at the Will Call at Dark Del, but I need to figure out how to posts pics here!!!

What do bottles and labels look like?

Can someone tell me what year(s) the amber GC bottles with the white labels and scroll work are? I recently got a bottle of Poisoned Apple with that and the gal I got it from was not sure of the year...Thanks!!

    Orange Pumpkin Floss

WOW!! Got a partial bottle of this and it is a wonderful and perfect autumn/holiday scent! I get mostly orange, but it a nicely spiced orange...not citrus-y at all, if that makes sense. There is a sliver of pumpkin I get, but never fear you pumpkin haters out there. Very warm and bakery-like. Having this on just makes me want to wrap up in a huge warm sweater and curl up with cocoa in front of a fire!!! Very good!!
  25. Awww, but it's a LE - thanks for the suggestion, though - I appreciate it! I try not to do LE; they break my heart every time! I hate running out of something I love, and then not being able to get it anymore (That goes for makeup too, not just BPAL). Let me tell you about my BPAL LE heartbreak - summer of 2009, there was the Summer Garden Series, and since it couldn't be imped, I took a gamble on a whole bottle of Pink Plastic Flamingo. To say that I fell head over heels in love would be putting it mildly - it was probably one of the most gorgeous and unique scents I've ever experienced. And although I have a boyfriend that I adore, I got more attention from every single guy in my office that summer! All I heard all summer long was "God, you smell amazing!", which never happens for me. And then, boom - all gone. Limited Edition. No more Pink Plastic Flamingo for me. So yeah, I guess you could say that my whole reason for steering clear of LEs all started with Pink Plastic Flamingo! (It broke my heart, Fredo - it broke my heart!) Yes, I fully understand!! But it's hard to stay away from them!! But even GC ones can be discontinued in a heartbeat!
